My husband and I normally visits Half Moon Bay in the morning . It's our first visiting the area late morning . We end up having our lunch at China House . Food was good was delicious ! The place is clean with lots of parking ! The Chinese reserver and owner is very funny to customer as well ! I highly recommend this place .

The dumplings were good, juicy and fresh. All other dishes did not seem fresh or flavorful. Garlic noods were mushy made with what seemed to be jarred garlic. Lemon pepper chicken had dry lemon seasoning sprinkled on top (too tart), and were very dry. Pho broth was thick like sweet n sour, noodles were overcooked. Chili oil at the table was dark brown and smelled bad. The server was friendly and when she took my order she checked with me to see if "spicy" is OK and I said yes. I was a bit surprised that at $20 this dish does not automatically come with rice, but I was OK to save a few carbs by skipping it. A huge plate of steaming food came to my table shortly. The first thing I noticed was that many of the peanuts in the dish had been burnt black. I had not seen that at any other Kung Pao dish over many visits with many different restaurants over the years. The spice level was OK for my tastes and the veggies were OK but the dish was missing the usual green onions that are common on this dish. As I was chewing I quickly ran into something in my mouth with the consistency of a rubber band. I spit it out in my napkin. Later when a staff member stopped by to see if I liked my meal. I said that it was OK, but she could tell by the tone of my voice that I was disappointed in the meal. I pointed out the white rubber band tissue that I had spit out. She said it was cartiledge and that they get the chicken breasts from a third party and then just run it through some kind of machine to chop it up so sometimes there is cartiledge in the meat. Hmmmmm. She asked if I wanted to take home my remaining food (I still had about half the serving on my plate) and I declined. There are only a handful of tables in a very small dining area and there is sparse but interesting decor. Parking is close to the door.

DJ's Chinese Cuisine - Like DJs, but they really need to work on the fried rice which is not too good. Basically, white rice with a little added to it.

The war won ton was just the won tons with no fillings and the broth was good, but it was not what we expected. The seafood soup was mostly broth with a little bit of fresh mushrooms and French cut green beans and finely we found a couple shrimp and a few bits of calamari. The sweet and sour pork was mushy and didn't have much flavor. The kung pao shrimp was mostly onions! The next ingredient was green peppers and garlic. There were peanuts and still more onions. We are not fans of onions, so this was not a good surprise. The rice was fine but not special. We also ordered plain steamed vegetables and shrimp, which we will try tomorrow night if we are willing to eat this again. Service 5/5 Food 2.5/5 Ambiance 4/5 lovely patio in back of the building and nice linen table clothes. Good window seating. Value/price 3/5 expensive for the quality of the food (canned, frozen veggies etc) The food brings down the experience and we won't go back.

We sat down in this homey restaurant that felt like we'd been transported back in time to 1997 or so which I liked for a change. Nestled in an unassuming strip mall by some martial arts studio and a few other restaurants and stores. We ordered way too much food and the plates were huge. Highlights were the fried shredded pork with jalapenos, hot and sour soup, and orange chicken though everything was great. Best hot and sour soup I've ever had, great spice level and depth of flavor. The fried shredded pork was seasoned perfectly and went great with everything. We also had bbq pork chow mein and I was pleasantly surprised by the bbq pork being obviously house made fresh and not dried out bright red 40 like most places. Service and value were both great with a huge amount of leftovers and very accomadating but not suffocating service. We had about 7 dishes and it was about a hundred. The chefs are two brothers, and the terrific Ricardo, at the front, is one of the chef's sons. They are a wonderful family. If you've bypassed this place but never stopped in, or if you're from the North Pacifica or Montara, Moss Beach or El Granada, it is definitely worth the trip -- it'll become one of your favorite (if not THE favorite) Chinese restaurant on the coast.
