Great sushi tucked right off highway 1 in HMB. Fresh sushi, great service, place is very clean. Recommend the Miso Black Cod, loved it! And the Curry Katsu Udon is a winner at our table. Only recommendation is they need a better sign outside so you done blow past them. Try them out, you won't regret it.

Big fan of Hangetsu. The food on the day of our visit was fresh and delicious. The service was excellent. Personal favorite and a recommendation - Santa Barbara Uni. Fresh and sweet - surprisingly rare level of (high) quality. Another great feature is outdoor seating - but - in this areaa - it may get too chilly.

Hangetsu totally fits the hype! This local sushi restaurant Hangetsu is cozy, clean, charming, and serving delicious fresh shasimi and sushi dishes. The service is friendly and fast. I would highly recommend it

The rolls were super tasty and the fish to rice ratio was decent. We ordered the lion king roll, caterpillar roll, Kobe beef roll, and the Hamachi carpaccio. We got our food within 10 minutes, super quick on a weekday evening! Simple decor with lots of windows to watch the hwy traffic. There were a ton of TVs around the place and they were playing some live football game.

My favorite sushi restaurant on hwy 1. Great service great food and right near the beach.

My tri tip came first and got to say it was pretty good. Thinly sliced beef with grill onions and cheese. Each pairing in the deluxe box was seasoned and prepared perfectly with the nigiris lightly lined with wasabi and the right amount of rice. We also ordered a Sapporo pitcher which paired well with the takoyaki, middle toro, uni nigiri, and steamed egg. All of their specialty rolls have seemed really fresh and they have some unique combinations, but what was truly surprising was the quality of the salmon avocado roll which came in the lunch combo - with no sauces or garnishes to hide behind, the freshness of both the fish and the avocado came through. It's such a basic item that we would never think to order it on its own, but we were so pleased with the quality! Service on Sundays can be a bit slow, but they only have one waiter. He's very friendly. The parking lot situation (which other reviews may touch on) is strict between each business, so they may warn you to make sure you've parked in a space meant for the business/not blocking any other parking. The restaurant itself isn't huge, but we haven't yet had problems with getting a table. We could imagine that they may get busier for later lunch times than ours.

Not much has changed with the new incarnation of Sushi Sam - it's still fast-paced, very loud, and swarming with eager diners...ready to get their affordable omakase on! F O O D * Chrysanthemum Greens & Duck Salad ($20): https://tinyurl.com/5yxbcpkb While it looked great in other pics, our duck breast was overdone and dry, while the greens needed dressing. * Chicken Karaage ($18): https://tinyurl.com/5ak2yavm You can't tell from the pic but these babies were HUGE! Best karaage I've had to date. * Fried Green-eye (2 pc - $17): https://tinyurl.com/4cnuaxk8 A rec from our server, green-eye is a hard-to-find fish that's typically only served at high-end sushi bars when in season. It was hard to maintain a convo at the sushi bar so IMO, not an ideal "date night" or "catch up" place. 12 seater sushi bar with an attached table to the side to seat four and five tables. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and thought it was a solid value given the quality of the fish. Just keep in mind that there's a trade-off when it comes to the "vibe", and you're good!
