Tom Ludes got rid of stubborn stains on a carpet in my home; and his regular maintenance of carpet allowed me to keep it for several more years. Without his consultation on this, I would've had to get new carpet. His regular couch cleanings have also allowed me to keep a recliner couch I love in excellent shape. It's amazing (appalling?) how much baked-in grime accumulates on carpets and furniture from just particles in air and tracked-in dirt. Tom's regular cleanings make my whole home feel fresher. Tom was transparent with me from the beginning on what he could do to help with our stains / what the culprit of most of are stains are from (dog oil), and what my expectations should be. It was filthy, lord knows what was behind the stains. Anyway, somehow HD Buttercup forgot to apply any stain guard on a $9,000 couch and Tom came out and gave it a whirl. We agreed to a price for the couch and the rug, and he also threw in cleaning some other items in the family room. Well the couch was a certain fabric that pretty much makes stains permanent. The impressive thing about Tom / First Choice is that he offered to refund half the total charge and also was very helpful in recommending a good reupholstery contact. From the first phone call I could tell these guys had integrity and experience. I had called 4 other places requesting bicycle oil be removed from our couch. All the other places I called said it was not possible to remove the oil (which I realize now is because it wasn't worth their time for the amount of cleaning it was). Tom was excellent. Not only was he able to COMPLETELY REMOVE the oil stain, but he also cleaned our living room area rug just because he felt it was only fair considering the stain on our couch wasn't huge. He was very pleasant and genuine. I will most definitely be referring this company (which was founded in 1982 btw) AND using their services for all future cleanings. First off, he arrived at the beginning of the time frame given. That was a major plus for my elderly grandma. He was engaging with her and was very articulate explaining things, she's very hard of hearing. And....She thought he was cute :). She had her carpets cleaned about a year ago by a chain. There was a spot on her carpet they couldn't get out, Tom did. He was very knowledgeable about why we had him there. That was a relief because she was panicked he didn't know what he was doing or do a good job. All I can say is she smiled and gave him the "nod" of approval. I've used Tom for my properties I've sold. So it was only fitting that I use him for my own house too. I have a dog, so my carpet is wrecked. It's been cleaned several times. They are quick, thorough, and he gets all the spots out. I like that he puts butcher paper down the walk ways. It really helps. I live in a senior apartment complex, 1 bed/1 bath/hallway. First Choice was highly recommended by my neighbor and their yelp deal was fantastic. They couldn't do my bedroom as I have my parent's 1920s antique bedroom set which takes up the whole room, just a tiny walking space to get around it. My choice. But Jim steamed the hall and living room and I was quite impressed. First, he and his brother, who run the company, are very old school friendly, on time, and very efficient. And he moved around my furniture which was an enormous help to me as a senior, tho I do have everything on little movers so everything slides easily. His equipment was modern and up to date, and not nearly as noisy as the old machines that other companies use. he was thoughtful and considerate not to bang his equipment into my furniture (and these are small apartments), and ended by giving me helpful hints to keep the look fresh and new. it was a steam clean, not a shampoo. He showed me the water after and how dirty it was. my apartment faces a hillside so I get a ton of dirt, dust, pollen and black air fuel dust as I'm in the LAX flight path. My carpet looked brand new. And it took about less than an hour. No upsells, no resells, just good old fashioned good guy work. Very pleased and very impressed. Felt like an old friend taking good care of me... something you don't see anymore. I wear white socks and did notice a few days after that the bottoms were a little dirty but I've had the windows open all week so it could have been fresh dust from the hillside but they were not nearly as black as they can be before Jim did the steam, more like a light brown. So that was my test, the white sock test. I will definitely be using these guys in the future, maybe even twice a year (waited 2 years this time) but never again. it felt like I had a new carpet, shiny and clean. I couldn't wait to vacuum the next day after it had dried so I could see all the slick vac lines that new carpet shows after a good vacuum. highly recommend these dudes... good people, good work, good prices, fair and honest. This was my first experience in having two small living room chairs cleaned. The scheduling and timing was fast and professional. However, once scheduled- it went completely wrong. This company used a third party called Local Green Service (in which I will write another review on) to clean my chairs. He showed up on time which was good. Gave me an a second quote based on what he saw which was double the amount I was originally quoted. Fine, I understood maybe a small increase- but double? Then the guy accidentally spilled the entire amount of dirty water that was in his machine- all over my hard wood floors. He spent a total of about 15 minutes cleaning the chairs. I looked at them and commented on if the small areas on the arm rest would go away- as after all that is why I had him clean it - he said- "Oh yes, when it's dry you will see the difference. In addition, the dirty water he spilled, splashed up onto my chairs, causing a stain- which did not come out. I called first choice at least three times about the need for someone to come back and re clean or give me some of my money back. All they did is stay they would reach out to the supervisor of Local Green Service and ask them to call me. First choice said there was nothing they could do for me. I told them that the number on the invoice from Local green- was not a working number and asked for a direct number at which he replied no. He was rude on the phone and hung up on me. I"m extremely disappointed with this local service and that they are obviously dealing with extremely shady third party venders. Today, I did get a call from Local Green and he said they would not come back and that I didn't buy a warranty. He said I should call another cleaning service. I said that they did not provide the service and they needed to fix what they did. Especially given the fact that the guy spilled dirty water all over the chair which added an additional stain. All I wanted was a re- cleaning and for them to stand by their service. I would avoid this company if possible. If they are willing to help me in a resolution, I would be happy to change my review. I left a message to have my entire house cleaned- area rugs, couches, hallways, stairs and bedroom. The call was returned promptly and I was given a good estimate for a "sight unseen" home.
