Encountered a fraudulent transaction made by one of their towers. Poor customer service.

My Mustang was towed to this place because of an expired tag. It hadn't been driven for quite a while, so I hadn't registered it. My husband had passed away and things were very tight at the time. A friend had gotten it running and drove it home to Livermore to make additional repairs. It was parked on private property behind a truck. The truck needed out so the Mustang was pulled out, the truck moved and the Mustang was going back into the driveway, when Livermore PD caught it moving on the street. It seemed like they were sitting there waiting! Anyway, First St Tow hooked it up and took it away about 9:00pm. The crappy part was that they charged a whole day storage for 2 hours! That is ridiculous!! I am a disabled senior citizen and funds can get really tight! We went to get it, but the only employee was out doing another tow, so we had to wait over an hour. The driver got back after 5:00, and even though we had been waiting since BEFORE he left, they closed and charged us another day storage! What an absolute rip-off!!! And certainly the absolute worst customer service to be found! Try anyplace else but this place!!! read more

Luis the driver put in extra efforts to clean up our drive way when he saw the engine oil was linking on our drive away. He was careful in putting our unfuntional car to his truck, then cleaned up our drive way. We are so thankful that he is willing to put in the extra efforts. Charged to get my car towed instead of $145 dollars with Tesla I had to pay $300 for this company to tow my car 2 miles to the nearest charging station. Got into an accident this morning. Stressful for sure, but Victor of First Street Tow showed why he is First Class. He immediately put the truck on his carrier and swept the surrounding areas. He then met me around the corner and offered me a ride to his shop which was close by. When he heard I lived in Livermore, he offered me a ride to my home - which he didn't have to do, but did anyway. I recently had an occasion where I needed to have my vehicle towed from my residence in Pleasanton to Livermore Ford. I called several local tow companies trying to get an estimate which ranged from $135-$186. I called First Street Tow because another provider recommended I call them. When I called First Street Tow, they were very responsive and gave me a reasonable timeframe in which the tow truck would arrive. In addition, First Street Tow gave the best and lowest estimate I found. Upon the arrival of the tow truck from First Street Tow, I met with Miguel, the tow truck operator. Miguel was awesome. He was able to get my vehicle started and load it onto the flatbed tow truck without any problems. He was very friendly, personal and professional. Miguel has a extensive history in the towing industry and his professionalism really shows. In addition, Miguel brought my vehicle to Livermore Ford and gave it to the service advisor without having me to go along to turn the vehicle in. Last week, my car was towed before I could move it from Main street in Pleasanton. I contacted First Street tow to get my car. It was Friday after 5pm, they answered quickly and told me to call when I was on my way to First Street Tow and someone would meet me at the office. When I arrived, the person made paperwork quick and led me to me car, which was nearby.. It sucked to find out that my car had been towed but at least the process was easy, the person I spoke with was very polite and I didn't have to wait to get the car back. read more

I got a flat yesterday heading in to work. First Street Tow was the first number I saw and called and to my surprise, they were super friendly, accommodating and willing to help. Not to mention affordable too! They weren't rude or sounded disgruntled like most tow truck places but incredibly friendly the whole way through! They were able to pick me up, tow my car to the nearest tire repair shop and the ride along the way was cool! My driver was Derek who was chill yet super helpful the entire time. And he took great care of my car in transporting it and lifting it onto and off of the truck. And they didn't drag my car either! They used an actual flat bed tow truck which I totally appreciate! I was stuck in a tough spot a few nights ago. Something caused my car to not start and the clutch pedal was glued to the floor. I got scared because this is my little baby and I don't want anything to happen to her. I called triple A to get a tow and I told them my car is modded and I'm about 2-3 inches from the ground and need a bed to tow it. The guy said "no problem" and sent triple a out. When they got there it wasn't a bed but a crane style(don't know if that's the proper term) and he couldn't tow me. My buddy rob called me and said to call first street tow and see what he says. I was about to take this beautiful girl on a date. He not only worked with me on timing but he really went out on a limb to help me on a tough tow. We schedule it for Saturday night. His driver Derek was the most helpful and professional tow driver I've seen. He spent at least 40 minutes putting my car on the bed moving blocks of wood around to make sure my car wouldn't scrape at all. Being two inches from the ground I scrape going over small speed bumps. Never once did my car scrape at all thanks to Derek. First street tow has been easily the best tow service I have ever used and the only tow service I will ever use in the future. They toed my dads truck to there yard after an accident. After three calls to them, they finally brought the truck to the body shop down the street. It was terrible, they said they would bring it when I spoke to them on the phone, as Diablo Body shop is 1 block away, but they kept hold of the truck. Then when they finally brought it they billed: 740.00 to go less than half a mile total from the accident sight to their yard to the body shop. They held the truck after being asked to tow it, so it seems like they were trying to bill more days storage. What a bad business practice. To make matters worse, They put a lein on the truck for non payment, eventhough they had been paid in full by AAA via the body shop, I would not trust them! read more

First Street Towing is hands down the WORST company and owner I have EVER dealt with. If I could give NO stars I would. Not only did they tow my car and cause $2500 worth of damage - the owner charged me $800 for having my car only 48 hours. In addition he placed a lien on my vehicle knowing I was in route to pick up the car and charged me $90 for the lien. I tried dealing with the owner directly for my car damage and his exact words were that he would rather deal with my insurance company. I plan on reporting this business and it's unethical practices to the Better Business Bureau and the city of Pleasanton. I also plan to address the Pleasanton city Council in regards to regulating towing in the city of Pleasanton. I find it shocking that many others have experienced the same If not worse unethical business practices yet this business is still able to renew its license. Terrible Customer Service Do Not use this Towing service, they do not know what they are doing! They cost me $900 in tire and rim damage. After driving my car with a flat tire, when I told Carol the driver not to, he said he knew what he was doing. After yelling at me that it was my fault for buying my car he said the damage would be covered by insurance, and would not give me any paper work. The owner Kyle is just as rude and uncooperative. Day started horrible with a flat tire. Called a tow company called "Auto Towing"... they quoted me $60 to put on my spare PLUS labor - between $65 and $85. Ouch. So after their quoted 25 minutes were up I decided to call First St Tow. They were appalled by the cost I was about to get charged. He arrived in less than 15 minutes and charged a flat $60. First Street Towing & Extortion I have been on this planet 37 years and have not run into a "legitimate business" which operates with so little ethical obligation. The towed my car from the lot behind 739 Main St., where apparently from 7 o'clock onward they change from a parking lot to a parking/towing racket. While I parked their legally to do business at ~7pm an individual (medium/heavy set white man balding but with long hair, name may be Steven). Writes on a piece of printer paper $5 for parking, if you don't pay him (or in my case park before he shows up) it seems he calls the First Street Towing. Apparently they normally charge ~$100 for a tow from the 580 but $300 for a tow from a mile away (739 Main). Tack on $55 for a day (or in my case an hour) of storage and $90 to open a gate and they walk away with $445. If try to dispute the charge they simply threaten keep your vehicle and charge an additional $x per day. I use the constant 'x' since it seems clear all their fees are made up based on how much money they can extort from you. They will not provide information regarding the authority or legal documentation that allows them to take your vehicle. It is unfortunate that there are people in this world that are comfortable behaving in this manner. I will pray for them and anyone who happens across this business. read more

I've still got words for you...) but the CHP put me in contact with 1st Street Towing. Victor was just AMAZING. This business is under new management and was very recently (December 2012) taken over by my good friend. I've worked with him for the past 3-4 years and have come to trust him completely. I've referred him many customers as well as having my own vehicles repaired and serviced by both companies. This month, my thermostat stuck open and I had some other routine maintenance issues that First Street handled for me. Finding a repair shop that will treat you fairly and deliver on what they promise is not easy to do. Because I've known him for a while and he has always done an exceptional job, I had First Street Auto Service perform my repair services. The tech called me and explained everything that was wrong and his estimate was very accurate - in other words, there were no surprises. He warned me about some future repairs (leaky seal) that would need to get repaired and informed me about my vehicle and the types of problems that happen with them over time. He spent time with me and was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. My car was ready on time, on budget, washed and bright. I would recommend them to anyone who needs service on their vehicle. I've not yet needed a tow, so i can't speak to that aspect of the service but I know the owner and he runs a very tight ship. Lastly, I will say they are taking over this business and getting it ramped up very quickly so I would expect a little disarray. Big thanks to Rhona & her team! My car was equipped w/ run flat tires and one tire was completely flat, while the other 3 were flat enough that I didn't wanna take a chance and drive to the shop. First street tow was recommended by my shop "Performance Technic"! I called 2 days before to set up a pick-up with a flat bed and they gave me a 1 hour window of arrival times. The driver Miguel arrived within 30 mins of the scheduled time window. Miguel had my car up on the flat bed within 5 mins. The great part was he got the car up on the flat bed without my tow hook. Other tow places asked for the tow hook (you don't necessarily need one, unless you know what you're doing). Fast service and professionalism. I had a very positive experience with First Tow when my vehicle broke down on a busy San Ramon junction during rush hour traffic. Called by San Ramon PD, the tow truck arrived soon. The driver was very understanding and courteous. The first thing he did was to ensure that I safely transfer to his tow truck. He towed my vehicle to the workshop in no time. He used his jumper to restart my vehicle and parked it exactly where I wanted him to at the workshop premises. All this happened after normal business hours. His expertise in whatever he was doing was evident throughout. After a couple of days I had a follow up question for First Tow and left a message with their front desk. Their manager, Victor, called me back within minutes and cleared my doubts patiently and convincingly. One test I always do to evaluate vendors is, how they behave/respond AFTER you have paid them. Great job on brakes for our fx35. Going in, the braking was rough, very noisey and concerning. Now the stopping is quiet and smooth. Nobody likes car trouble, and it always seems to happen at the worst time of your life. My car decided to break down, and I'm sure you all have had terrible car trouble experiences when you need a tow. And all you want to do is punch a wall (well that's how I felt at least). So 1st Street comes to the rescue. I was expecting that they were going to be like the other tow companies I've had where they show up 3 hours or more after you call in. They were not that late! Alameda sheriff's use this tow company. They arrested me and towed my car simply because my car broke down on the freeway. I did not break the law, they had no reason to arrest me. They didn't charge me with any crime. And when I asked if I could grab my work laptop and Ipad out of the car before it was towed and they said no. And now the tow company wants $800 for towing my car and holding it for less than 48 hours. They said they charge for the initial tow, per day, and some other made up fee of $175! I just purchased the vehicle not even a week ago and I am in the process of getting it registered, but the paperwork I need for that is in the car... and they refuse to let me get the paperwork so I can register it. So now I can't get my car or my property out because of these thieves!!! I don't understand why some people have no understanding or compassion. My car was towed for absolutely no reason, and now I am unable to get my work equipment out of the car. read more
