What a pleasant surprise... so happy we finally got the chance to try the place. It is not your traditional brunch place in the sense of pancakes and French toast and mimosas, but still very good. The menu options are more on the healthier side I'd say. It has the farm to table aspect which is very good. I had a crab omelette which was very nicely done. I would have liked to had a bit more crabmeat, but other than that, I was pleased with my meal and my experience there. We didn't even have to wait that long and I've heard the wait time can be hours during the peak days and times there. The wife picked this place out for mother's day breakfast. The Yelp waitlist system was not working cause they were maxed out, but I called and was put in the queue manually. Got a text message that I was 36 in line and wait was 60-90 minutes. Luckily I drove there in 30 minutes and then got a text the table was ready. Turns out the cafe went through the waitlist and people weren't there for their spot so the cafe went down the list. Lesson is wait at the cafe for about 30-45 minutes when you get out on the list. Now for the food, ordered eggs Benedict, the frittata, the chickichanga, and the bacon omlet, with a shared lemon pancake. My dad and I decided to visit this restaurant for the first time for my birthday brunch. The food we ordered was excellent, however, we wish our experience with the service could've been better. We sat outside the patio and waited 20+ minutes for our food to arrive and our assigned waiter did not check on us once. I was looking through the window and noticed he was serving other tables, while my dad and I were waiting for such a long time outside, and there were other waiters walking by who also did not bother checking on us. At one point we were done waiting and I had to go inside to speak to the host letting him know what was going on. FINALLY, the manager steps outside apologizing for the inconvenience and said our server forgot about us... so there was basically lack of attentiveness there, nonetheless it was VERY unacceptable. The manager was kind enough to take one of our meals off the check which we really appreciate, however, we were still disappointed. This wasn't a very good first impression on our first visit, but we will think about returning again next time and hopefully, our second visit will have better service. read more

My boyfriend and I came into the greenbrier location on Monday May 15 and after being sat around 12pm in the outside patio 20 minutes had passed and we were never greeted even though two separate servers had come out to check on other guest. We had went with a group of 5 to grab breakfast and the place was popping at 9am on a Saturday. Seemed like a lot of seats were filled and it was nice being able to grab breakfast. This is a huge shopping center so parking isn't an issue. I decided to grab some coffee and it was decent coffee and came at a steady pace (may have needed two cups). We continued to eat and I grabbed the omelet and perhaps that was a bad mistake on my end. The omelet wasn't bad at all but for being really hungry, it didn't really satisfy me on that end. It was a pretty standard omelet and not the oversized or processed ones at other institutions that are known for pancakes. Their bread was amazing and I can taste the quality and thoroughly enjoyed their bread. The home fries that I got were done really well as there was a bit of chew on them while also being potatoes. I can see where some people may consider them undercooked but I think it was fine. If I came again, I would get a different meal. Now, it seems like everything is fresh and so I am not hesitant on coming back it's just I wish my portion size was a bit bigger. I personally prefer FW over other breakfast/brunch places like Bob Evans and IHOP nearby because they offer much healthier breakfast choices. They also serve salads, sandwiches, and soups for lunch. For daily/weekend specials, they have three (3) rotating breakfast options and three (3) juice highlights. The rest of the menu is set. The service and number of staff can vary depending on the breakfast crowd, but I would recommend adding FW to your breakfast/brunch rotation. A great place for brunch. They have a lot of seating and it's not too loud inside, so there can still be room for chatter between family and friends. The waitress was nice and recommended dishes to try including her favorite. They had nice and refreshing drinks and even free coffee for people waiting to be seated. The food was delicious as well and fairly priced. I would definitely come back again with a big group. The only downside would be the bathrooms can get kinda messy, but that was probably just because it was packed. I think they went to the local penitentiary to find staff... waiters and seating hostess lady were both rude, had an attitude and were generally incompetent at their jobs. Food never came out. They took the order in the wrong manner so they didn't know it existed. They don't know how to run a restaurant. The manager should be fired. This was 100% an amazing experience! The wait was over an hour long but I used the waitlist feature on Yelp and got seated immediately upon arrival. They were super busy on a Saturday morning for brunch, and I can see why. They had coffee at the door for people who were waiting and the manager was helping with the hostess and sat me and set me up with a sling for my car seat. The table was clean (not grimy in the least) and everything felt very comfortable. There were coffee cups already at our table when we sat down in the server greeted us with a hot pot and poured us a cup. They already had creamer on the table. Silk soymilk creamer and international delight creamers with different flavors. I also ordered a fresh pressed juice. Kale, and it was so tasty! We ordered: Kid Pancakes for my son and oj. The orange juice was fresh pressed and tasted wildly fresh! And for the pancakes she brought hot syrup for the table. Trifecta, Waffles eggs and sausage. All of which were good. Beet toast, Like avocado toast except with beets. It was so amazing that I ordered a second helping. Million $ bacon Made with caramelized brown sugar. Also amazing. Our server was Ngoc, and she was nice, knowledgeable, quick and made great suggestions. I don't pass out five star reviews, but this place really blew me away and I will be back. Grabbing breakfast with my parents prior to their flight, I was looking for somewhere better than IHOP and Denny's but not something too high end. Tough task, especially way way out there in Northern Virginia. Plus, my parents are getting older so they're becoming more and more set in their ways. They're to the point where busting out reading glasses to meticulously study the menu and ask 1,000 questions are a must. However, they're too young for me to just lie and tell them that they already ate. First Watch came up on my trusty Yelp app. Hmmm, says it was voted best breakfast, brunch and lunch. Sounds better than IHOP and Bob Evans. It's located on a large strip mall off of a main roadway. The outside is pretty plain, making First Watch a little hard to find. Once inside, the space is basic but larger than I thought it would be. There's a bit of country sort of vibe to it, which I guess makes sense because Chantilly is out there. Service is excellent. Our waitress was efficient, patient and accommodating. She even got our food out in record time since we had flights to catch. Also, doesn't hurt that she was nice to look at on an early morning. Helllooooo Sunshine! Then again, having been on the wrong side of Latina exes' tempers more than a few times, I browse but don't buy. Gracias, por favor! I tried the Belgian Waffles, Cheese Omelet, Sausage, Home Fries and Biscuits. The Cheese Omelet was really good. That's particularly important to me because I feel like a lot of places struggle majorly with eggs. The omelet had good texture, balance and was seasoned. It was also pretty large and filling. Best of all, the ratio of egg to cheese was perfect. The Biscuit was moist and tasted fresh. Glad I didn't have to bite into a hockey puck! The Sausage and Home Fries were both nicely cooked and seasoned. Definitely a generous portion of home fries. The Belgian Waffle was the main attraction. First off, I've got my moments of having a large appetite and this waffle fit the bill for me. I could eat it, use it as a catcher's mitt or throw it like a frisbee. Secondly, it had the perfect texture of being fluffy with also having some firmness and crunch. It paired well with the sauce, syrup and fruit, which all combined for a magical treat. Ok, that was hyperbole...but you get my point. One minor knock for the fruit, some of which seemed to be of the canned variety. My other slight knock is the price. Definitely not IHOP, Bob Evans or Denny's prices. If I recall correctly, three breakfasts came to $60 with tip. I'd pay any amount of money to see my parents enjoy themselves so while First Watch was an expensive breakfast, it was worth it in that instance. If I'm ever deep in Northern VA on a given morning and in the mood to spend for breakfast, I'll keep First Watch in mind. read more

This is our go to breakfast spot for so many reasons. Travis and his team does an outstanding job at making you feel welcomed and delivering An outstanding meal promptly. My wife and I eat here on a bi-weekly basis, and always bring out of town friends and Family when we can. The menu options are very friendly for various dietary needs, including gluten free and vegetarian. Most menu options have a high amount of organic ingredients as well, which is a plus. Walking in, totally not what I expected, it's actually a large and spacious IHOP like type restaurant setup but cleaner, more contemporary and surprisingly open floor plan even with the plentiful seating. The atmosphere is bright and inviting without the riffraff of late night partiers, but families and real people that are hungry for fresh instead of cheap. I can see this place becoming one of my new handouts. My hot chocolate has a nice consistency, in a nice large coffee cup with ample whip cream and chocolate syrup drizzle. There is flavor! This isn't just water and swissmiss and if it is, they fooled me! But you can see once you finish it off that there is sugar coating the bottom.... I love this place already based on this! On to the food, omg amazing! The pancake was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfect thickness and lots of large pieces of bacon and cheddar. :D the avocado hash with onions and tomatoes just was so flavorful and tasty, makes me excited to try everything else on their menu! I am impressed. First Watch is a nice little, but spacious, joint in a strip mall that serves breakfast until 2:30pm everyday. We were simple today and both ordered Trifecta meals -- pancakes, eggs and meat. I started with coffee and I loved that they had Coffeemate hazelnut creamers. It's the little things that make me happy. The service was friendly and our food came out quite quickly. Next time I'll be a little daring and order the bacon hash. read more

After checking out Greg M.'s and Bobby K.'s reviews, in addition to having First Watch on my Bookmarked list for a while, we decided to check it out on a Saturday morning. Glad we did - this place has a wonderful menu, clean and bright atmosphere, and exemplary customer service. The prices are also very fair. I would like to specifically point out the staff's and management's perfect response to a pitcher of spilled water on my fiance - in addition to numerous sincere apologies, they really made it right by moving us to another table, comping a portion of the meal, and the manager saw to it as we left that we were okay with the incident. Much appreciated! Moving along to the food and drink, I was happy about the "personal carafe" of coffee, and the fresh-squeezed OJ was good, too. Menu choices were numerous, and they all looked like solid choices. In my heart of hearts, I really wanted the Acapulco Express or the special Bruleed Banana Waffle, but the healthy girl won out, and I ordered the Triathlete Omelette, which was really good! I liked the side of salsa, and I napalmed the crap out of the omelette with a heavy dousing of Cholula sauce. The English muffin was perfectly toasted and the side of fruit was a good portion. Not bad for under $8. Fiance ordered a Benedict with turkey and bacon. Our only complaint was that the eggs on the Benedict were poached too long, so the yolks were hard and dry instead of nice runny-ness that you expect with a Benny. First time at First Watch and overall I really enjoyed it. I read the rave reviews about this place so I wanted to give it a try. This place gets really busy but they have a waitlist through yelp, so definitely use it! It's a decent size restaurant with a lot of seating but not so much that you feel suffocated. Our waitress was super friendly. All I know was that her last name was Lopez (what it said on the receipt). I ordered the chorizo chile omelette and my husband ordered the tri fecta which brought eggs, bacon, and a waffle. Our food came out about 15 minutes after we ordered. They forgot my husband's eggs but our waitress took care of that as soon as we let her know. My omelette was really good but needed some salt. Now what was really my favorite was the waffle. My husband let me have some of his and it was delicious! I'm definitely getting that when we go back. All in all, this place is a great spot for brunch! read more

This place is pretty awesome. Family-friendly, super-clean, and serves greasy-spoon breakfast/brunch food with less of the grease. You can even substitute the eggs for egg white or cholesterol-free eggs at no additional charge! My killer cajun with egg white, seasoned potatoes and english muffin hit the spot, and my husband often speaks fondly of their fluffy chocolate-chip pancakes. The best part? The price is extremely reasonable. It gets crowded during weekend brunch hours, so get there early. If you don't mind sharing eating space with strangers, the "bar" will probably get you seated much faster. I hope they expand their locations. If First Watch was in my neighborhood, this would easily be my regular brunch destination! read more

As previously said in my First Watch review for Fairfax, I love this place. It is also less busy than the one in Fairfax which is great for me. This time I went with a large group and got lunch instead of breakfast. Food came out a little slower than usual though. They have a deal called "2 for you" where you can pick two of the three: sandwich, soup or salad. I got the beef eater sandwich and the Santa Fe salad to try to save myself from the oily sandwich I got. I don't mean oily as in a bad thing I mean oily as in "crap I'm supposed to be on a diet why did I eat something so good" type of oily. It was delicious, per usual. I understand they were busy but they always seem to be busy so perhaps they should look into how to handle it. At one point a member our party asked for an additional pancake, a single pancake. The waiter said no problem and disappeared. 45 minutes later that pancake was no where to be found. I understand they say they "make everything fresh" but that's a ridiculous wait for something that takes conservatively 3 minutes to cook. And then there's the food. It's fine. Woke up on a Saturday morning and decided to Yelp a place nearby for breakfast. We LOVE breakfast food, but the only good place we know of is Cracker Barrel and it is just too far of a drive from my house. Plus there's always a really long line on the weekends. After a quick search I found this place and it looked like it was worth checking out. Who knew such a great breakfast place existed so close to home? There was a little bit of a wait when we arrived, but we came at a peak time. We went to Marshall's next door and did a bit of eye shopping to kill time. Did I mention that they also give out free coffee to everyone waiting for tables? How great is that? The place is huge so I can't believe I've never seen it before. The inside looks very clean and bright. There aren't a lot of decorations, very simple, but nice. We noticed a sign on the wall for Cinnybon pancakes. I'll get to that later. I saw on another Yelp review that they have fresh squeezed OJ, so we both had a big glass each. YUM! I asked the server to recommend between the chickichanga and the eggs benedict and she said the chickichanga. It was soooo good. It comes with home fries and usually fruit, but I just asked for a double serving of potatoes. My boyfriend tried the tomato, bacon, avocado hash which was excellent as well. We decided to split the cinnybon pancakes, which were amazing! They taste EXACTLY like cinnabons, all ooey-gooey, sweet and warm. The only complaint I would have is that the home fries were a little under-cooked. They were seasoned very well though. All in all, the service was excellent, the food was great and I loved the atmosphere. I know where I'll be going whenever I'm in the mood for breakfast food from now on :) read more

This First Watch is comparable to the one in Fair City Mall in terms of the menu and the basic set-up. It's great that they have outdoor seating... though that could be improved (see below). Other than that, the service and other things were not as good. The waiter took a long time to come by to take our order and the food took a long time to come out. My daughter's food was cold when it arrived and she is very particular about that so she wouldn't eat it until we asked them to take it back to warm it up. More waiting... also they didn't bring water, and the avocado toast was dripping with oil. I guess I know now what one of the secret ingredients is. I always use the app to check in because First Watch tends to get busy, but the whole way there it said they could seat us right away until we were about two minutes out when suddenly it said 15-20 minutes wait with 5+ parties ahead of us. What's that about? Defeats the whole purpose of the app. Final thoughts on ways to improve: put a fence around that outdoor seating so people might entertain the idea of having their kids out there without fear of them running into the street. While we are talking about safety, put some outlet plugs in the outlets on the walls by the booths. My daughter was sitting right next to an exposed outlet and my younger one would have grabbed it if she had been over there but luckily she sat on the other side. read more
