So I got the BLT eggs Benedict and I would have to say that it wasn't bad but not great either. There was some runny egg whites on the side of the plate that looked kinda gross. The hollandaise was probably what ruined the dish for me because it was kind of sour (?). Maybe it was the lemon from the greens but it's weird how it infected everything on the plate. My dinner partner got the trifecta with a side of bacon. His scrambled eggs were too dry and under seasoned and he was given like 2 slices of bacon that were really small and were cold and probably old. Came here based on Yelp reviews and a desire to have some flexible, healthy options. Generally, I'm a fan, with some reservations. First -- the atmosphere at FW is great for breakfast. Casual but nice and airy. With school out, we didn't have any of the waits that I suspect are the norm on a Saturday morning during the school year. Staff is friendly, and was helpful throughout our visit. While the menu at FW leans maybe a little too hard towards hipness for my tastes, you can't argue with the variety of options available here. The house coffee is definitely better than average -- a big plus in my book (along with the to-go cups readily offered by our waiter). I opted for the Trifecta, a straightforward combination of bacon, eggs, and a banana granola pancake. The bacon was of good quality, but was a bit dry and overcooked, something that would have been less of a surprise later in the morning. The eggs (over easy) were also slightly overcooked and dry, but still fine. The pancake was fantastic, with the granola maintaining its crunchiness throughout. My companion's frittata was good, though there seemed to be an excessive amount of onions within (to be clear, we love onions, but this was not an onion frittata). While there were a few hiccups with our food, overall our meal was a good one, and we'd certainly return. Prices are higher than your typical breakfast place, but we knew that going in. My one money gripe is the avocado toast (a favorite of ours for breakfast). Yes, I know it comes with two eggs, but almost $10 for avocado toast reminds me a bit of some wine lists. read more

Every time I come to College Station to visit friends I want to eat here, but the wait is always insanely long. This morning I checked in online and waited at home which is definitely the way to go. If you're hungover and wanting some delicious and healthy food, this is the place to go. Wake up at 9, get in line on Yelp, and you'll be eating brunch by 11. We couldn't decide what to order, so we got a bunch of different things. Their Kale Tonic is absurdly delicious. My husband hates all my weird juices, but he loved this one. The cold brew coffee seemed a little weak to me, but it was still good. I highly recommend the farm fresh tacos. My husband really enjoyed his bacon omelet. They offer a seasonal menu and a regular menu. The prices are a little on the high side for breakfast, but they definitely have healthier options than a typical breakfast joint! I ordered the Chickichanga, a chicken breakfast burrito off the regular menu. It was a very large serving and I was able to share some with my husband. The flavor was good, but I felt like they need to add more chicken and decrease the amount of grilled onions in the burrito. A few bites in felt like I was eating just onions and nothing else. The side of potatoes had perfect seasoning and were fried up just right. The fruit was sweet and juicy. My husband ordered the Asian Pork Belly Breakfast Bowl off the seasonal menu. He says the flavor was great with a good spice from the siracha sauce. Unfortunately, he felt there was not enough pork belly included in the bowl and still felt hungry when he finished eating (hence the reason I shared some of the Chickichanga with him)! I have eaten at First Watch in 3 cities and it's consistently good. I like the steel cut oatmeal, lemon ricotta pancakes, and the million dollar bacon (caramelized with brown sugar and maple syrup). They have an updated menu that offers so much more than most breakfast places. Lots of healthy options and lots of decadent choices. Try going during the week to avoid the crowds. read more

Came here on a first visit to College Station and wasn't expecting that much. There were a couple vegan options and (probably some of the salads) including the oatmeal, A.M. Superfoods Bowl (chia seed pudding) and an açaí bowl. After asking our waitress for her recommendation I chose the A.M. Superfoods Bowl. The coconut milk gives it the flavor of vegan vanilla coconut-based ice cream but less cold, obviously. The fruit was good and the portion looks small at first but it was pretty filling. The whole grain artisan toast that it came with had good flavor and the almond butter paired well with the sea salt, however the bread wasn't actually toasted on mine, but the bread stood up to the spread that didn't make it flimsy. Overall the restaurant has a broad selection of breakfast foods, this place is pretty busy almost every day. We went at 9:30 AM on a Sunday and there was still about a 20 minute wait, but it didn't feel that long. read more

Decided to try out one of the most popular brunch places in town. The long wait on weekends is the biggest reason I have not visited this restaurant. I did try out the First Watch in Tampa, Florida and had a pleasant experience so I thought I'd try it out on a weekday, when it is less busy. Thankfully, our wait was only 10 minutes at around 11 am on a Monday. I ordered a tomato basil soup and the pesto vegetarian sandwich. Both were delicious. My husband ordered the flortentine eggs Benedict. Unfortunately his dish was not good. The eggs were cold and it felt undercooked. There really wasn't anything great about it at all and we completely regretted ordering it. Because it became busier later, service was lacking. So, I've already been twice and I must say I'm very impressed. They have lots of choices and what I've tried have been excellent. I had the biscuits and gravy the first time and the bacon and avocado omelet the next...both fresh and delicious. My son had French toast and he loved it. The restaurant is really cute too and the staff friendly. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is that they don't offer mimosas (or any alcohol) and I love to have those with my brunch. I plan to ask if they would consider a BYOC (bring your own champagne) option. Is be fine with that. PS One more complaint is they don't offer fresh cream for coffee. They only have the little non-refrigerated half & halfs and flavored creamers. Yuck all around. Where do we start? This place offers good portions, delicious food, nice atmosphere, superb service, great coffee and clean bathrooms! I've been here three times. Twice, the service was exceptional and food portions were good. This last time (a Monday at 1p) the service was not as good (waited 10 min in lobby - though we were on time for our waitlist spot, waited 5 min for coffee at the table, another 10 min for silverware, and portions/plating not on par). Also, we had a different waitress. However, I'll be giving them another chance when I'm in town. Everybody has a bad day sometimes. I recommend the Morning Mediation and the breakfast Tri Fecta. We came here on a Saturday and it was super packed. I really wanted to love this place and I definitely think they can do better. The service was awful, our waitress was so sweet but she had way too many tables she truly couldn't keep up. She didn't come back to our table after taking our order. My bfs plate came out and mine didn't come out for a whole other 10min. Then we waited another 10min trying to get ketchup. They didn't give us napkins and after trying to flag someone down I gave up and went all the way to the check out station to grab some. The food was decent but the portions were meh.
