Have tried to eat here twice now and I won't try again. Clearly they don't need any more customers (especially if they are just 1 and not at least a couple or larger) Both times I have gone alone, willing to wait a bit because the place is new and I realize everyone wants to check it out. Estimated wait time for 1 has been 15-35min. Both times I have waited past my expected time before having to go up to the front and ask how much longer. This past visit (this morning) was the last straw as 2 other couples and 1 group of 3 that arrived after me were seated first. When I approached her I did not even have to tell her my name she remembered me, she then offered me a table outside.... I declined due to the RAIN!!! read more

Awesome! Always enjoyable and I really love the porch. They seem to get a nice breeze and its quiet. The waitress was friendly and really seemed interested in helping us have a great time. While the food here was delicious, the service was very poor. My friends and I ate here last Saturday morning at about 8 o'clock and we were not out of there until 10:15. After arriving and sitting down for about 20 minutes- we had no waiter and had to grab someone to get someone to take our drink order. After receiving our drinks we had to wait about another 30 minutes before the waiter came back and took our order AFTER asking for someone to grab our waiter again. Worst experience ever!!! Over crowded. Wait staff cant keep up. We went one sunday and told wait was 15 people. 1.5 hours later, we were told that we still had 10 ahead of us. Told to reserve online in the future. We left after another 15 minutes. Today we reserved online and told to get there by 11.22. We showed up at 11.10 and told them we were there. By 11.30, we were told another 30 minutes!!! WHY RESERVE? Horrible experience. Dont know how their food tastes like but they will not get a penny from me at off. Stay away! read more

Waited one hour for a table after asking what position we were in line we were told next. A table opened up in the next 5 minutes .....Great until someone was sat there. Was told by the host they text and called not true as my phone never rang or received a text from them other than the initial text. We have been to this restaurant maybe 3 total times, and have been disappointed every time. My daughter and I ordered the Eggs Benedict Florentine, my other daughter ordered the Belgian Waffle, and my mother ordered the Healthy Turkey Omelette. First, most of the orders were bordering luke warm. It was freezing cold in the restaurant, so maybe that was the problem, but the eggs did not taste good cold. Secondly, and partially our fault, the poached eggs of the Benedict's were extremely runny, and the sauce was mixed with the greens, which made an unappetizing flavor. The cold, runny eggs were the main problem though. The turkey in the Turkey Omelette tasted like cheap bought meat, and did not mix well with the onions and feta. The service was good enough, and the waffle was delicious, but will definitely not be ordering what we did this visit... if we find ourselves going there again. read more

I had high hopes for this place. its usually packed but now the students are gone for summer. so I came by to check it out. First off the hostess acted like we were bothering her. Then after we were seated we didn't see the waitress for 5 min. Finally she took our order, for some reason it came out in pieces. an egg showed up... a few minutes later a pancake shows up. Then some grits show up. guess what my food never comes I ordered the trifecta. I watch everyone eat and the waitress tells me she is sorry she forgot to put my order in. all I get is grits. she then comes back and acts like she could care less. I ask for my ticket I'm ready to get out this place. no tip no thank you! Save your money go to kettle or la familia. first watch should be closed down! The food is GREAT!! However you might starve before getting it. The wait to get the table could be hours long so signing in on yelp is a thumbs up but once you get there you can add 30 mins to the online estimated time. Once you finally order add 30+ minutes before getting your food but once it's in your mouth it's delicious. So even though the experience before the actually eating of the food was a 1/5.. the food was 5/5. read more

This was an excellent experience. Food was delicious and drinks were flavorful. The millionaire bacon was surprisingly great and the blueberry preserves was amazing. Food was good. Sadly, Service not so much. Our server was super sweet, but seemed to be stretched too thin. When we were first seated, she greeted us right away, brought the one person in our party of 4 coffee and left before the rest of us could order drinks. About 10-12 minutes later she finally came back to take our order and our drink order. After an additional 10 minutes we had to ask her to bring our drinks because we had not received them yet (so about 20 minutes before we even had drinks). I can't blame our server however, it appeared that she had to assemble things in the kitchen, seat other customers and sort menus, instead of serving waiting customers. What was even more frustrating was that we were seated very close to the front and there seemed to be plenty of managers (looked like 4 managers), not ONE of them noticed our table was without drinks for 20 minutes, nor did anyone stop by to see how everything was going. Wish the best for this company, I understand this is a new business, and it was the first Saturday they were open. The atmosphere was great, and the kind servers made me want to try again. However I hope these wrinkles get ironed out. Could not give more than 2 stars for this visit. read more

First time here and have been wanting to eat here since it opened. Let's just say the initial impression was not a good one. We walked in and asked for a table for two and was told 35-40 min wait. Not a huge deal we were willing to wait. We sit down and 30 minutes later we are seeing people sit down who came after us to eat. Um what?! So I go up there and they say oh yes just a few more minutes. Now we sat for a total of 50 minutes and people who just walk in are being seated. So I walk up there again and say I would like to see how much longer of a wait. He said oh we were just about to message you to come sit I'm like how no one got my number and being my first time here I didn't know to give it. Once we are seated we get prompt service. Food was decent but WAY over priced! Our food came out hot and correct. But I could have gotten the same thing for cheaper at I HOP. Our server was nice can't say the same for the hostess. We went for breakfast/brunch the day after Texas A&M graduation. Had not heard about this place, since we live in the country north of San Antonio. Yep, it was busy. I found it on Yelp. Learned about the app to make a reservation. Easy peasy. If you don't like that, go somewhere else. It works. It's a great idea for a place like this which packs people in. because the food is GOOOOOOD! We still had about a 30-40 minute wait, but we knew that before we got there. The staff was super courteous and efficient. Our waiter Michael was great. Made us feel comfortable and un-rushed. It took a little while to get the food out, but no big deal. They were very very very busy, and I could see back into the kitchen. Everyone was working their butts off. Michael was very attentive and kept coming by filling our coffee and apologizing for the wait. Very professional. When the food arrived, perfection. Eggs benedict BLT for me and my wife had one pancake and sausage. Kind of a weird order, but they handled it and the presentation was super. Everything was delicious. So if you go on a weekend or during football season or graduation or Mother's Day, etc., expect a bit of a wait. Use the app. It works well. Tells you where you are in line and how many parties are ahead of you. The wifi was bit sparky and dropped in and out, but it's free. Probably a glitch and they need to re-boot their router. This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time, and most definitely my favorite place to get brunch! I eat here about every 2 weeks because I'm constantly craving it. Their coffee is some of my favorite coffee I've ever tried and is a big part of why I love my overall experiences there. I get the Trifecta, with the Belgian waffle, eggs, and bacon. The waffle comes with cinnamon sprinkled on it, which is a really nice touch and adds a great flavor. The eggs come with chives, which is again a very nice added detailed that isn't necessary but is a part of what sets First Watch apart from other restaurants. The overall atmosphere is very warm and inviting, and the staff is always very friendly and accommodating. You get your own water jug for the table, as well as syrup bottle. Overall, it's all the little details, as well as amazing tasting food and great staff that makes it such a great restaurant. Nothing is too overpriced, I find that everything is well worth the money spent. *Sidenote, the only way to go there though is to download the app NoWait and put your name on the list in advance, otherwise you'll have to wait at least 1-1.5 hours on the weekends. read more

We usually go to First Watch during the week when there is little or no wait. Each time we have been we have had a very good experience. I took my 81 year old mom there this morning. The hostess took note of my mom's walker and found us a booth close to the door. She then offered to take her walker so we did no have to mess with it. Our waiter was very friendly, attentive and most important, patient as my mom read the menu and made her decision. When our meal was over and they saw us beginning to get up from the table, they immediately brought her walker. I cannot begin to tell you how many restaurants we have been in where the hostess will walk us to the back of the restaurant and put us at a table that does not accommodate an older person and the gear that they may need. We have also experienced waiters who will not speak to my mom but look to me to answer all questions even though she is quite capable. The first day I ate here, it would have received 5 stars. However, the experiences have not been the same since then. It's a cute new place in town so everyone is raving over it, mostly because we have nothing else like it here! The menu options are great, the appearance is adorable, but they are ALWAYS super busy! Which, in our case we got an app to save us time and has been a huge help! However, because it is so busy, I find the wait staff can't keep up (and I get it, it's ALWAYS crowded, which is a great thing for them). However the second time I went, I never received my coffee or water until after my food came, which I brushed off as a busy day and I have no hard feelings on the issue. I've had moments where my food isn't done completely, water cups aren't clean, or the bacon still looks raw, but they are VERY quick to fix the problem and I'm always nice about it because they are still new and maybe some people like undercooked bacon...not me haha! Overall, I'll go back, it's cute, it's a great atmosphere, the coffee is great, awesome juices to try from, and if your order isn't to par, just nicely ask and I'm sure they'll fix it for you, then I promise you'll love it! I'm giving them time, in hopes that the little details will fall into place once they've been open for a while:) read more

I was here a few days ago with friends. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked impressive and everything on the menu sounded good. I went with the turkey burger, was a little small but delicious. One of my friends ordered a pesto quinoa bowl which everyone tried and loved. Why has it taken the BCS area so long to get a place like this? Fresh, healthy food that tastes delicious! Yay! But expect to wait in line on the weekends because obvs I'm not the only one who is tired of all the burgers and fried crap around town. I especially love the Kale Tonic (drink) and even my 5yo loves it. I've gotten the avocado toast with eggs the most, but everything else I've had has been fantastic. I do have to take off one star for service because the server brought half our party's food and it was another 15 minutes before the other half of our party got their food. We arrived at the restaurant when it was only 1/2 full. We ordered two classic breakfasts, one with eggs basted, crisp bacon, dry toast and the other eggs over medium, crisp bacon, buttered toast and grits subbed for the potatoes. The table next to us was vacant when we arrive then filled several minutes later. The couple next to us received their order way before us. When ours arrived, all the food except the grits was cold and the basted eggs were actually fried. We informed our waiter who said he would have our food recooked. Our food was left on the table while we sat, not eating. Several minutes later a man came to our table and asked if everything was OK. We said that our food was cold and our waiter was taking care of it. We found later the man was the manager but he never introduced himself nor offered any apology. When our recooked food arrived, the bacon was crisp, but the food was still cold. The only things hot in our meal were the coffee and the grits. Our total time in the restaurant was an hour and 15 minutes. Too long. Sad to say we have crossed this restaurant off our list. It seemed to have such promise. The owner needs to train employees, and especially managers, how to resolve issues like this. read more

My salad and soup were average, but the toasted bread that came with my meal must have had an entire salt bottle poured on top for some reason, so I couldn't eat it (and I LOVE salt). I was very excited to eat here since two of my friends went and said I would definitely like this place. So we went on a Sunday morning at 10 am expecting a little wait. We were so wrong. The waiting by the door was about 40 minutes which we kinda expected due to its popularity and another 30 minutes after we ordered. They are obviously understaffed since it was hard to find our waiter and he was always in a rush. He was not very polite neither, but well this won't matter as much to me as long as the food is great. Half way through the water on the table, I saw something was on the bottom of my water cup. Several of those things were in the water bottle. Several of them looked like bread crumbs and others...well I don't know what they were. I ordered the Day Glow which tasted great and a salmon toast. The bread was thin and my friend said it was not like this last time she was here. The fish seems not totally fresh to me, but it tasted okay. I think I had better salmon toast before with the same price range. My friend had french toast which is one of my all time favorite for brunch. I tried hers and it turned out to be pretty delicious. In general, it was not a very pleasant experience due to the long wait for the food and mediocre service. The taste of the food was not great enough to cover these disappointments. read more
