I keep tryIng to give this restaurant a chance because when I first came, and it was called The Egg & I, I was really impressed with their Belgian waffle. Now every time I come tHe waffle is either not cooked how I like it, the syrup is cold or the butter is not melted. I love, love, love Belgian waffles! They get it rIght at IHOP but I'm not foNd of that 'cattle call' chain. There are not many GOOD places in Columbus, GA to eat, so, I am resigned to this...a COLD expensIve waffle with expensive COLD syrup and melted butter that hardened when I poured it over the waffle. I uploading a pic. You be the judge. So, I am giving the restaurant 2stars because it is clean and the bacon and coffee are good. AlsO, the waffle has a good flavor and the waitress offered to bring anoTher waffle. I declinEd cause they should havE checked the temp before bringing it to me, this has happened at least 2 times before, and I am just over it. Best of luck to you if you visit here. Visiting Columbus for the first time and was craving a great breakfast that was not a "corporate locale", definitely wanted to try some local fare. Found this restaurant on yelp and decided to give it a try based on the great reviews it received. First Watch did not disappoint!! I tried the crab omelette and it was fabulous!!! The crab was very fresh and moist and the whole-grain toast and potatoes that came with it were very tasty as well. My daughter had opted to stay back at the hotel so I ordered her pancakes and a bowl of fruit to take back to her. The pancakes were humongous and the fruit was very fresh, ripe and sweet. Many times in restaurants the fruit bowl will contain much unripened fruit and be very tart, but that was not the case here. I was surprised to find out when leaving that first watch is actually a chain, I think franchises, with over 300 locations nationwide. Kudos to them for such an awesome business model...offering organic, locally grown food on a national level. I hope they continue to grow. I would be remiss if I did not point out that every single person working that day was friendly, knowledgeable and quick, but not so much that you felt rushed. read more

The service was great, our server was very polite and attentive, ordering went quick and she didn't miss a thing. Now for the food.... Horrible. I had come here 4 years ago and thought maybe they had fixed things but no. For the price of a meal you would expect the quality to be good but no. I ordered the farmhouse skillet with extra eggs & chorizo, as well as the French toast. I'll start on the skillet, the toast that came with it was almost stale tasting when I bit into it, the potatoes under the eggs were cold and was exactly what you'd expect when it's not made at the moment and made a day before or MANY hours ago and simply reheated, as for my eggs... (the worst part) I asked for over easy and received eggs that had probably touched the skillet on both sides for 5 seconds TOPS. Made my skillet a soup. Over easy for context is both sides cooked with a runny yolk. YOLK, not the entire egg being raw. So that essentially ruined my meal. Moving on to the French toast, it was definitely made a while ago and coke and really hard and chewy horribly made. So if you're looking for good food, do your self a favor and don't come here unless you're trying to waste money and hunger. Never Again. read more

My experience was below average. I came with a party of 4. Took a while to have a waiter come and ask what we wanted to drink. Coffee tasted cheap but at least you're able to cover it up with fancy creamers. I also had to ask for silverware and a straw for chocolate milk. You would think that it would be common sense but apparently it's not. The Belgium Waffle and biscuits and gravy are hard to beat here, compliments to the chef on those two dishes. French toast was burnt to a crisp on the bottom. It's like they forgot about it.... I had to ask 3 times and 2 different waiters when I wanted a refill of sweet tea. I also didn't get my side of biscuits and gravy until I was almost done with my main course. I ordered mayo on the side of my dish and never got any.....I also asked for another plate for my son and he never got one....Great food, terrible service. read more

I couldn't stop eating long enough to take a picture of the food. I ordered the bacado. The omelette was delicious, the salsa on the side had really good flavor and I got a morning meditation which balanced out the food really well. So I came here for the first time and goodness gracious the brunch is beautiful, just beautiful. Let's start with the breakfast potatoes. Firstly the potatoes are made from your mother's kitchen and was seasoned with your grandmothers special seasoning. So obviously they are heavenly. So yea add that to your meal. Additionally, I had the egg's Benedict Florentine with the spinach and avocado, and let me tell you, they CHANGED THE GAME! Rather than putting it on the typical English muffin, they put it on like a long piece of garlic bread, which is which is already a game changer. Overall a pretty good experience, I arrived fairly close to opening time. The staff were all pretty pleasant minus one individual but you never know how someone's day is going. The manager or store owner of the day set the tone by being outgoing and approachable. Now to the part we've all been waiting...the food was quite good. The mixed berry toast has a strawberry short cake hint to it(the lemon ricotta cream sets a standard). The toast was to perfection, fruit selection seemed prime as well. The chickichanga was an excellent choice(avocado and Monterey Jack cheese was a nice blend)and a close rival depending on your taste for the day was the braised short rib benedict. Been here a handful of times, sometimes the wait is a little long on weekends but it's worth the wait. Not sure why this place only gets 3 stars. I've never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and delicious. Their kale tonic and morning meditation drinks are very good; kind of pricey but I don't mind paying more for quality food and drinks. I've tried numerous things on their menu and have enjoyed everything, but this past weekend I had their Ancient grains protein bowl and it was outstanding, by far one of the best breakfast dishes I've had. The service is pretty good, not top notch but quick and efficient. This is definitely my favorite breakfast place in Columbus thus far. read more

Love First Watch! My guest and I was seated promptly with no waiting. The server was very bubbly and explained any questions we had regarding the menu and served our drinks quickly. Usually when i go to First Watch, i get the same thing - the Traditional breakfast, because its everything i love to eat (eggs, bacon, toast & potatoes), its so satisfying & filling. But this morning i tried something different. I ordered the Market Skillet Hash. It was chock full of veggies & cheese, so good. See all the different veggies it comes with on the menu. Plus you get 2 thick slices of whole grain toast & a small side of fresh fruit. My husband & i shared a side of the Million Dollar Bacon, we just HAD to see what that was all about. Presentation and dishware are everything here. My breakfast was delicious. You can really taste the goat cheese in the dish. Veggies were hearty and potatoes cooked well. I love dipping my toast into the little side of preserves it comes with. We didnt know what to expect of the Million Dollar Bacon. Its thick sliced bacon with syrup, black & cayenne peppered. But our serving came out very well done, like burnt. I actually love burnt bacon but with a slice so thick, it was more like jerky. We couldnt get past the burnt flavor. Otherwise, breakfast here has always been spot on and we'll continue to return. read more

The food is always fresh and presented well. The bacon is the bomb and the little side potatoes are tasty. Coming here from the beginning the only knocks are once you place order the wait is way to long to receive your dish. That has not changed. I still don't understand why the owner does not keep his or her restaurant open during dinner hours. You would make a whole lot more money, weird. It's not that good to only be open till 2:00 read more

I got here at 10 AM on Sunday morning, It took a couple of minutes to get seated because the hostess was doubling as the cashier. I was by myself, just about every table was full. Ordered the veggie omelette, and asked for no cheese. Also asked the waitress if I could have butter on the side for my toast. She made a face like it would be difficult to make that happen. I said, no problem, just lightly buttered toast please. So, took about 25 minutes for the food show up. It wasn't ice cold but it wasn't hot either, just warmish. No butter on my toast or on the side, and the omelette had cheese on it. I mentioned this to the waitress when she came by, she offered to have it redone. I declined. This restaurant has potential. The food was pretty good, not sure why it was cold and took so long to arrive, I guess it's a management/staffing issue. The staff was fairly blah, not rude, but not noticeably hospitable either. We finally made it in for breakfast at this popular spot and it was not a disappointment. The menu was extensive so it was difficult to choose the best option. It is nice to find a healthier dining alternative as there are so many less than optimum spots to dine. This menu was a refreshing find! The avocado toast was absolutely amazing. Definitely my favorite on the menu. Their skillet meals are diverse and offer "not the usual" options for more discerning tastebuds. Breakfast potatoes instead of greasy hash browns. Fresh fruits. FYI: don't bother checking in online because it literally makes no difference, they will put your name on the list but leave you on the bottom of the list until you physically show up... seems pointless to have the option of adding your name to the waitlist online. Same issue happened to an elderly couple who drove up and waited in there car for 30 minutes just to walk in and be told their name is at the bottom of the list because they had not checked in yet. I got the "Inspired Italian " with red peppers, Italian sausage and Mozzarella. It was very good i loved it so much . It also came with roasted tomatoes now I usually don't like tomatoes but these taste so good with it I recommend you get them with it . The jelly that it came with the meal was a strawberry jelly it was also so delicious i ate it all. I got a fruit cup but i had a choice of "assorted greens, seasoned roasted tomatoes, or fruit. My family and I came here on a holiday for brunch around 10:30 and the line was out the door! Thankfully we were already on the wait list so it wasn't too long before we were seated. They were a little under-staffed, so our waitress took a while to get to our table. She was polite though, and did her job well. I ordered some hot tea, and they brought out this diverse arrangement of pre-bagged teas with a lemon and some honey. The lemon was a little rotten but it was still okay. I ordered the A.M. Superfoods Bowl. The food came out relatively fast considering the low number of wait staff. The bowl was absolutely delicious, and it wasn't too sweet. I was worried that it would be, but coupled with the almond butter toast evened it out nicely. The pudding was chilled and the fruit on top was really fresh.
