I used the First Watch mobile app to add my place in line (reservation). For 2 people on a Saturday late morning/early afternoon brunch, the wait was 60-80 minutes. The app stated for us to reach the restaurant by 12:30 and check in with the host. The app then texted us when our table was ready. Awesome use of mobile technology! My husband ordered a small orange juice and a Market Veggie sandwich (he substituted raw onions and tomatoes in place of the mushrooms and zucchini). I ordered a Morning Meditation fresh juice (orange, lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar and beet), as well as an Açaí bowl from the seasonal menu (organic Sambazon Açai topped with fresh strawberries, bananas, kiwi, blueberries and our housemade granola. Served with whole grain artisan toast topped with almond butter and Maldon sea salt). My juice was ok, but I loved the Açaí bowl and almond butter toast! I've never been other than breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday morning but I also would like to try their lunch options during weekdays (will report back if needed). From what I know though- this is the place to be for a simple, yet very satisfying brunch. They have a pretty vast menu for breakfast and also have seasonal specials with fresh pressed juices. I end up always choosing either the Classic Eggs Benedict or the Farmhouse Skillet Hash. Pro tip: download the No Wait app and put yourself in line before you get there. I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE. It's such a nice way to start my Sunday mornings after church, because First Watch is so warm and cozy! It's got a cute rustic feel with all its wooden accents and chalkboard art, and the brown paper menus are a nice touch. They even include cute paper napkin wrappers with funny sayings on them - my girls and I have started a collection every time we go. Their food is definitely on the healthier side, but they still have awesome sweets and rolls! Pro Tip: get the millionaires bacon. It usually brings me to tears. the worst customer service ever!!! they lied to me saying the wait will be an hour to 1.5 hour, after 10 minutes they canceled my waiting space... when i got there in person, the manager had a major attitude that it was my fault... when i told her she should've set realistic expectations with customers and be upfront with the wait time, she rolled her eyes on me... when i told her she owes me at least an oppology, she rolled her eyes again and one of the waiters who stand next to her started to laugh at me.... i was speechless!!! stay away from this place!!!! unless you wanna be harassed and discriminated!!! read more

This is my go-to brunch place. I love their hash's (especially the Market Hash) and their pancakes (which are HUGE). Their eggs Benedict was also good and they have 3-4 choices of fresh squeezed juice, which is refreshing. I usually like to get a couple of plates and share with a friend. I normally go on Sundays around 11am and the wait is typically 45 min, but I think it's worth it... sometimes you can sit at the community table and the wait for that is typically shorter than a private table. The only downside is their restroom only has one stall and that's just not sufficient for a restaurant that gets that crowded. It's hard to keep it clean, too. read more

A can't really go wrong type of brunch spot. It's not too lavish and not your ordinary IHOP either, I'd say right in the middle! It's a comfortable venue settled in the Fairfax city shopping center right across from Woodson high school. Found this place with great reviews on Yelp put our name on the wait list and decided to come by on a Sunday. Even with our name on the wait list we ended up waiting maybe about ten minutes or so. The menu has a lot of standard brunch plates where you can substitute sides and pick different combinations. I ended up getting the eggs Benedict in the florentine combo (comes with avocado and tomato) and subbed my greens with potatoes. It honestly wasn't the most amazing eggs Benedict I've had but it certainly wasn't the worst. They seem to spin off a healthy vibe so I get that my potatoes aren't going to be all greasy like I like but I also felt better about eating healthier. The coffee - on my empty stomach - made me sick. I say that because my food took a long time to come (2 scrambled eggs, toast, and fresh greens - Really!) The waitress was nice enough, but please don't come by telling me it's coming and then another 3 minutes go by....with my stomach feeling like coffee acid. The food just arrived....I'll finish this when I have tried it. Ok the acid stomach resided, thankfully. The eggs were warm and tasty. The bacon was cold and crispy. I liked it. Bread was somewhat warm with enough butter that was soft enough to spread but not melted. Greens were greens. I'm vexed about this place. I really love the space, the atmosphere even though people tend to stare at you a lot! I love their fresh juices. I always get the Kale Tonic, if you love real green juices that aren't too sweet this one is for you. I also get a single pancake. Blueberry or Chocolate chip. Doesn't matter what else I get I get this as a starter and I share it with a friend. I've tried The Traditional breakfast, which isn't anything extraordinary. The Avocado Toast...I mean it's Cado on toast and eggs. I like this because it's a healthy alternative to things. Don't come here looking for insanely made food. My wife had the chicken salad melt. Chicken salad was fine but the bread wasn't toasted sufficiently so it got soggy. But, overall, the food was good. Service was okay too. Checked in before leaving but still waited nearly an hour after getting there. The host staff wasn't very helpful and repeatedly told us 5-10 minutes when we asked. First of all, the rebranding/renovation is so solid It's hard to tell that First Watch has been in fairfax for 10 years. Compared to founding farmers and other *trendy* brunch spots, their fresh pressed juices are really reasonable at $3.99 for a large glass. They were out of the two juices that i would have preferred, and I hesitated on getting the Kale tonic, however, my waitress brought out a sample to try before I ultimately decided on a whole glass. Their menu is a really good value for what you get. Their BLT Benedict was amazing and would have been $3-5 more expensive anywhere else. The sausage gravy and biscuits was delicious as well, with a rich gravy and fluffy biscuits. Their potatoes were surprisingly good and I can't believe how much i liked them. The interior of the restaurant has a pretty rustic aesthetic and it's a great backdrop for a nice Instagram post of your brunch and green juice. The service was great and it's pay at the counter. My forever go to for breakfast/brunch/lunch.. basically any hour of the day before they close pretty much. They're usually pretty good about their wait system so I'd say there's usually no wait to average 15 minutes. Usual favorites: -Pesto chicken quinoa bowl. If you want more protein, I'd suggest adding egg whites to it. Definitely brings the flavor all together when you mix everything well with pesto. -Banana nut pancake. If you're a fan of bananas and you love yourself some pancake... this is a game changer. Recently tried their blueberries and I gottaaaa say it's not bad! I like the fact that you can see actual blueberries in the pancake itself. Seasonal favorite..... -Hands down their farmer's biscuit sandwich. The size of this biscuit sandwich is ridiculous in a good way. I opted out of mayo since I'm not a huge fan but I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything -Since October is around the corner they have their seasonal pumpkin pancake!! This place is crazy crowded! I suppose that is a metric for their quality and popularity. I had to wait for almost 45 minutes to be seated, but I understand that they are only open for part of the day, so everyone congregates there in the span of a few hours. I just window shopped around the center while waiting. If I recall, you can set up a text alert to your smartphone to have them alert you when your table is ready. Ya'll should stay open all day! Stopped by here for a late breakfast/ early lunch on a weekday. The place was pretty packed inside! Ordered a "daily glow" fresh squeezed juice with carrots, lemon and ginger - it was pretty good! The only downside - it was poured over ice. I'm not a big fan of iced vegetable juices, but had no idea they'd do that by default. They have some sandwiches, small plates, pancakes, egg dishes and salads. My Chicken Avocado Chop salad was pretty good, although pretty heavy on dressing, so ask for dressing in the side if you don't like that. First Watch is absolutely the last place I would go for breakfast. Small eggs and cardboard home fries -- no hash browns -- are a 'No Go' for me. I emailed them about this once and the person who got back to me assured me they didn't use 'small' eggs, they used 'large' eggs. I don't know, but if I were to open a 'breakfast place', I think I'd use 'jumbo' or at least 'extra large' eggs. So, First Watch is Last on my list for breakfast!
