First Watch is great breakfast/brunch option in the Fort Worth area. The food is almost always really good. Weekends get very busy - expect 30min to 1hr wait. That being said...the last few experiences I have had with the restaurant have been a bit concerning - the reason for the 3 star review. Concerning experiences: 1) Cold brew. I ordered the cold brew and noticed a lot of small cardboard looking pieces floating around the bottom of my glass. I showed the waiter and he had no idea what it was. I was given a new glass with no cardboard floating pieces. Still have no idea what that was. Makes me wonder if the cardboard pieces were in the glass before the cold brew was poured in or was in the batch of cold brew... 2) Market skillet hash. I normally always order this. This dish includes egg, potatoes and veggies. Its a great vegetarian choice. However the last two times I ordered this I saw bacon bits mixed in. Not just one or two...many. I picked the pieces out...but I could see how this would be a MAJOR issue for strict vegetarians. 3) Not a huge concern...just annoyance on carelessness. My friend was given an extremely bent fork. To the point where is was almost unusable as a fork...I have no idea how the staff overlooked it...it didn't even look like a fork! Advice: Love the menu, love the ambiance, love the food. I have to say I am super disappointed in my meal here. The service was lacking. As we were sitting down (literally no even butt in seat yet) the waitress bombards us with "What do you want to drink? Are you drinking coffee?" Me: "Probably" Waitress: "Ok, I will get that for you right now" Me: "Never mind, I don't want coffee. Can I look at the menu first?" I felt like she was trying to just get me to buy coffee to pay more on my bill. The Food: Avocado Toast: To be honest, I have had much better avocado toast. I've heard mixed reviews over First Watch so i was skeptical but I personally loved it! I got the trifecta and had the Floridian French toast with it. The berries on the French toast were amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We also order the biscuits and gravy and an order of the lemon ricotta pancakes which were also delicious. The lemon ricotta pancakes weren't too sour and it almost tasted like strawberry lemonade in a pancake (there were strawberries on top of the pancakes). The biscuits and gravy were also really good and had a good flavor I would definitely order that again. They had a good portion size and I think the price was affordable. So very worth it though. First Watch has some of the best black coffee in town. Those on the wait list can enjoy a cup on the house while waiting or cucumber water if that is your preference. Be sure to note: no fancy coffee here...just old fashioned brewed. Juices and smoothies are made fresh daily - good and healthy. My mom received an ad coupon card in the mail and handed to me when I visited her this morning. My wife saw the picture of the blueberry pancakes that they had advertised on it and instantly fell in love. I think that was her original order plan however she quickly changed her mind once entered the establishment. After looking at the cute menu she decided on the chicknchanga!! Healthier choice of a breakfast spread. Had the avocado plate and thought it was pretty good and tasty. The pancake was full of warm delightful blueberries and the syrup was the perfect touch. The chimichanga was okay, and the same for the potatoes, and omelette. Nothing here was "Out of this World", it just so happened we were in the area and wanted breakfast. We checked in on the waitlist, physically checked in when we arrived, told it was 10 more minutes. As we waited we watched 4 groups of people get seated (that came after us) and we continued to wait for a total of 20 more minutes. I asked the hostess about the groups that arrived after we did and somehow got seated before us and she stated that .. and I quote " Everyone checked in on the waitlist on Yelp". I find that hard to believe, but wasn't going to argue. With the closure of The Egg & I comes its newer, more modern yet still down-to-earth reincarnation that has a much fresher and charming approach. My friends and I were welcomed inside the diner to a country, rustic feel. Even though it was dreary and drizzling outside, the place seemed to exude its own ray of sunshine and charm, warm and welcoming even though I had yet to even try the coffee. We were quickly seated by the friendly hostess who was promptly followed up by our waitress, who poured us hot coffee and brought out a water jug for the table. I was tempted to try some of their fresh juices, the Day Glow seemed especially refreshing made with orange, carrot, and ginger. But I was happy with my piping hot coffee. Looking at the menu, the place really seems to emphasize wholesome foods that appeals to the health-nut in you that also wants something delicious. A real win-win in my book, with things such as multigrain pancakes, cage-free eggs, and avocado toast. I ordered the Tri-Fecta, which includes two cage-free eggs, two bacon/sausage, and a multigrain pancake/Belgian waffle. I was really impressed at the selection of pancakes they offered. Not overwhelmingly excessive, but offers enticing choices such as carrot cake, blueberry and chocolate chip. The lemon ricotta pancakes, which was its own menu item, sounded really good, too. I thought that we waited a little longer for our food than at other diners that I had been to, but the day I went was their first day, so I assume they had to sort things out a bit. But I thought it was certainly worth the wait; our food arrived fresh and hot. My carrot cake pancake, with turkey sausage and eggs, was warm, aromatic, and had real bits of carrot and raisins and nuts that you could see. And the eggs and sausage were done right, the hallmark of a diner that has its basics down. Overall, I was really impressed with a First Watch. The staff was friendly and warm, and the price for that quality of food was very reasonable. I am a regular at the other location near Watauga. I can definitely say, this location is just as good. The food is amazing. It's fresh, it's delicious, it has that feel good feeling because you are putting great food into your body. The atmosphere here is great, service is fantastic. Overall... just wonderful experience. I had the Biscuits and Gravy (a meal I normally don't eat because it is too fattening) but here at First Watch they use a turkey sausage. And believe me... even the most discerning Texan would love it! My wife had the Sweet Honey Pecan salad and she raved. One thing I loved about this place was the decor.
