My girlfriend and I had been looking for a new breakfast spot just to "spice things up" and discovered this refreshing new location. The environment is along the lines of faux retro meets modern day dining and everything is very simple, clean, and welcoming. The menu options were fantastic and offer a variety of same-old-song-and-dance options, but usually with their own First Watch twist. Take, for instance, the bacon cheddar pancakes that were large enough to feed a family of five. I had gone to First Watch looking for a combination of sweet and salty thinking I'd get pancakes with a side of sausage and/or bacon and was delighted to find that I could have BOTH in the same packaged combo! As for the rest of the menu items, they offer a nice blend of healthy options which were very prominent and welcomed and also allow you to be a bad little boy or girl if you are feeling naughty. I definitely want to be very clear here: THERE ARE NO BISCUITS & GRAVY. If you want biscuits and gravy, this isn't your place. Overall, this is one of the best breakfast options in the downtown area especially if you're looking for something a little different than most other artery-clogging restaurants have to offer. I want to clarify that I'm only giving this 4 out of 5 stars for the simple fact that they don't offer biscuits and gravy which I think every breakfast place should offer no matter what, but who am I to really judge? I'll follow my own advice and go elsewhere if I want to kill myself with fried animal fat, but I'll definitely be coming back to First Watch in the very near future. read more

First visit for breakfast. Location is convenient in a small strip mall with Trader Joe's and Starbucks. Place is clean and servers are friendly. I ordered bacon avocado omelet which came with toast and a side of potatoes. It was ok but I expected more for the price. I also had coffee and creams were prepackaged. I am used to real cream. This morning I revisited the Traditional Breakfast with scrambled eggs and crisp bacon. You can let staff know if there certain types of fruit that you prefer in your fruit cup...what chain does that??? The food is fresh and well prepared. The service attentive but not overly so. We came to this place on a Sunday morning when the Colts were in town so understandably, they were busy. However, our party of 7 was kept waiting for 20 minutes while a large table sat open. We weren't sat there until we asked about the table. The service was a little slow and our food took a while to come out, even though it was just basic breakfast. I ordered the avocado, tomato and bacon hash and thought it was pretty good. The fresh fruit was good as well. This was a great breakfast place! I had one of the hash items which was two eggs on hash browns that were cooked with chorizo, mushrooms peppers and onions. First Watch is amazing! The first time I saw the name I was up north and thought it was a eye glasses store. My loss! I saw it again at the downtown location and realized it was a breakfast/brunch/lunch spot. The hubby and I went here for weekend brunch and were blown away. Service was so good; our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, prompt, and almost a mind reader. The food was awesome. They make a clear effort to purchase local (if possible), fresh ingredients. Our order came out quick and was well made. i've been back twice in the past week, the food is so delicious. this time the food was pretty okay, but the greens salad that comes with the omelets honestly isn't much to talk about. there was little dressing and it just tasted like leaves. the ambience was slightly off, as the music didn't really match the tone of the restaurant. the negative i found on my trip here today, was our server, maria, was very apathetic towards us. i'm not sure if we were her last table or what, but she just didn't seem to care about us. she essentially stopped taking care of us pretty early on into the meal and dropped the check. the positives, the food is amazing, there was no wait on a sunday morning which surprised me, and the rest of the staff other than our sever was amazing! read more

This is the only First Watch I've ever visited (even though it's a chain restaurant) and I visit pretty frequently, probably once every 1-2 weeks for lunch. The service is inconsistent, sometimes terrible and sometimes good. But the food is very consistent, and I appreciate the opportunity to have lunch or breakfast, regardless of the time of day. I thought I stepped onto the set of some post-apocalyptic zombie movie where I'm the only thing left alive while walking around downtown Indianapolis at 9am New Year's Day. Almost nothing was open...including restaurants that normally serve breakfast. As I approached the glass I was pleasantly surprised to see open tables behind the happy employees. Even the hung-over customers seemed cheerful. I loved the pumpkin spice creamer for a coffee dispenser that didn't run out. Great food, great service; great way to start 2014. It can get pretty busy and crowded in here during the weekend or any time there's an event downtown. I try to avoid those times. The service was slow, it took over 20 minutes to get our food. Our waitress only came to the table twice besides dropping the check off. A kitchen worker dropped our food off and left before we were able to notice our skillet was missing half of the ingredients according to the menu. I have been to multiple First Watch locations and I was severely disappointed in this one. The prices at these restaurants aren't the cheapest because of the quality of ingredients, and we definitely did not get our money's worth. read more
