Great service and great food! Their sides come in shareable portions and are so good. The restaurant itself is pretty laid back with dim lighting and a casual bar in the center. Would definitely return and get the same thing!

Once again back at the Eagle and couldn't be happier! The service was amazing and quick. Absolutely loved the fried chicken, spoon bread, macaroni and cheese, and the mashed potatoes with gravy. Their peach jalapeño margarita was very tasty, however I do think their blackberry lemonade ranks higher in my opinion. Will be back! Seating: only low tops are outside, just so you are aware

Ok now if you want a delicious chicken sandwich come here! Brined and perfect for the sandwich I had. My coworker always gets the mac and cheese and the fried chicken and said I have to try the mac and cheese. So, I will soon! The spicy chicken dip, spoon bread, sheet pan nachos and burnt ends are on my radar as things to try. They all sound so good!! This is a busy area especially on Friday nights and the weekends as it's located on Massachusetts Ave. Great food and drinks at The Eagle though! A must if you've never been!

Have always loved the Eagle but recently discovered their happy hour! Monday - Friday 4-6pm, half off snacks and $10 Blackberry lemonades makes for a happy hour indeed. Three of us girls all shared the sheet tray nachos and the spicy chicken dip and it was more than enough food (and we were hungryyy). Love their patio. Can get busy so usually try and make a reservation on open table before we come (can usually get one up to like an hour before and then walk right in!) If your in the mood for food highly recommend going family style and ordering the chicken and a whole bunch of sides (can't go wrong but fan favs are Mac and cheese and kale salad) or trying the Fried Chicken Sandwich and fries (which are also delicious).

Service was great! Food was even better. The combination of the ingredients was great: five cheeses, bbq pork burnt ends, crispy onions, lemon thyme ranch, served with crystal hot sauce. I loved the ambiance as well. The decor, lighting and the arrangement of booths and tables still make it feel spacious.

The Eagle caught me off guard. I thought it was just a bar, but it's got a really cool vibe. Dim lights, a little loud, but easy to just sit and hang out. Bartender was super friendly and helpful. Gave me a few recommendations and I just went with it. I came in craving fried chicken, got the 1/4 dark meat with mac and cheese. When it hit the table... yeah, it looked serious. Three pieces, golden and crispy, still hot. First bite had that crunch right away, then super juicy inside. The meat was tender, almost falling off the bone. Seasoning is simple, salt and pepper, but it's done so well. Every bite had flavor all the way through, not just on the outside. Then the spicy honey... that's what took it over. It's sweet first, then the heat creeps in after a second. When it hits the crispy skin, it kind of soaks in just enough without killing the crunch. The sweetness brings out the seasoning more, and the little kick at the end keeps it from getting too heavy. I kept going back for more without even thinking and ended up pouring the rest on everything. Honestly, this is the best fried chicken I've had.

Seriously this is a hidden gem. This is the second or third time that I have been here and I have never written a review (I know, I know). But anyway, the service is great, the place is great and it is located in a great area of town. Enough greats, right. But to be honest, this place is sometimes missed just sitting on Mass Ave. The best thing here, just get the chicken. Anything with the chicken, you cannot go wrong. The crust and flavor are just from another world. The corn bread is sweet but oh so good. The green beans were loved by everyone including an 11 month old. Macaroni and cheese were great and seriously they make a mean grilled cheese on the kids menu. PROS: Best fried chicken, seriously Food is great Drinks are great Super huge bourbon collection, come ready Bigger room in the back for large groups Customer Service exceptional CONS: Duh, it is Mass ave, parking

Absolutely delicious! Was a great first stop to our trip. Not pictured were two juicy and perfectly cooked chicken sandwiches. Our server even took the time to look up some nice places for us to check out for our stay. Definitely would recommend checking it out. Safe on the wallet too!!

We had a pretty large group and they were able to accommodate us. Food arrived quickly and drinks were kept full! Food was delicious. We ordered the fried chicken and some appetizers. Definitely one of the better spots on Mass Ave for southern food!

Popped in for an early ish dinner before a concert! It was my first time here but I'd heard really good things. The service was quick and friendly. We shared the spicy chicken dip (hold the blue cheese). It was delicious! The pineapple spicy margarita was also delicious and fresh. I had the friend chicken sandwich - it was so good! Lots of good flavors, and a large portion. Everything is à la Carte, so a big hearty sandwich is really all I needed. (Although I did get some green beans). My husband got the burnt end Mac and cheese and he said it was amazing! And it looked amazing. Definitely recommend stopping in! But bring your appetite :)

Awesome service from Mason with great dixie style food. Get the shrimp and grits with the mac n cheese. Put it in the same bowl and thank me later! Awesome for a quiet weeknight dinner. Spacy but intimate.

Damn! Food was straight up amazing southern cooking. We shared the fried chicken drumsticks, a salad that had bacon, nuts, feta, and blacked eyed peas. Additionally we had the hush puppies and the mac and cheese. Everything was so so so amazing fir dinner. We sat at the bar and our bartender Emma made great recommendations. We had the peach jalapeño margarita and the blackberry's lemonade of some sort. All good too. Emma gave us great recommendations fir the city too. Ambiance was kind of rustic modern farmhouse. Really cool and elegant.

I feel like this is a hidden gem of a place almost as I was researched where to get food in Indianapolis and kept finding places that always have a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. However, this placed never came up and I found it through Google Maps after some searching. PHENOMENAL find, because they have one of the best and more affordable fried chicken I have ever had. Five drumsticks for $12 is an amazing price in the current economy and it's comparable to the best fried chicken that I had in Atlanta. The hot honey that it came with was good as well, made it taste even better. I also had the pulled pork sandwich which definitely needed the sauce that it came with, was a bit on the drier side but still good. Only thing confusing was why they added the pickle but on top of the sandwich instead of on the inside as you can see in the photo I have added.

I liked the added touch of the date night plaque at our table when we arrived. We started with the Evil Jungle Princess (10/10 tiki drink) and the paper bag beer + blind shot pick (gross but kind of fun if you like beer, I think we got a PBR lol). For apps we got the Wagyu pigs in a blanket and the broccoli cheddar soup to share. The piggies were so savory and delicious. For entrees we got the fish and chips and rainbow roll. The fish was perfectly battered and tasted great. The rainbow roll had good flavor but really fell apart immediately. I felt like the presentation could have been improved. They also did not bring out soy sauce with the roll and didn't come even after asking our server for it. Still good flavor to the fish. We finished off the night with the monkey bread (100/10). So sweet and delicious! It came out hot and fresh with a side of ice cream. Definitely sugar overload but totally worth it. And our nightcaps were the Espresso Martini (HAVE to get) and the Campfire Vibes. Both great drinks. Highly recommend this spot for any special night out.

We sat right in the middle of the main thoroughfare and were completely ignored for at least 15 minutes before we finally flagged someone down. The guy, "H," apologized and said, "Oh, my bad--it's all good." We figured, no big deal, let's move on. We ordered pretty simple food, apps and were then going to put in some entrees once apps arrived. We asked for waters and a water bowl for our pups. He brought two waters--with no straws--and no dog bowl. We assumed he was going to grab the bowl, so we waited... and waited. Then I noticed him at the end of the bar leaning against some boxes, texting. So I finally got up, interrupted him and asked for the dog bowl. His response, "oh my bad." Our appetizers came out, and naturally, we asked for silverware. A few minutes later, I spotted "H" in the corner on his phone again. At that point I was thinking, seriously?! So I got up again, interrupted "H's" text convo and asked for silverware. His response again was, "Oh, my bad." I didn't respond to him I just turned around and went back to my seat. Honestly, the whole experience started feeling more like a self-serve restaurant than table service. It's a chill spot and we weren't being needy whatsoever. We never asked for any refills- we were merely asking for the basics. We wanted to order more food, but by that point we were pretty turned off and decided to just get the check. Then came the final straw: my guy had his license and credit card sitting on the table because he hadn't brought his wallet out for our monon trek. When "H" came back with the checkout thing, without question or hesitation - he grabbed the card and swiped it. We didn't even realize what happened until afterward. Maybe that's standard there, but I've never had a server just take my card without asking. Usually you get a "hey do we want to use this card? Or something to confirm. And of course the tip structure is skewed so the min is 20% unless you want to try to figure out to manually enter in 15% (which most ppl don't -incl my guy), so we left 20% and left irritated and still hungry. "H" didn't seem hungover or anything--he just genuinely seemed like he did not not give a shiiiit. We had to get up three separate times to get things we had already requested: the dog bowl, a couple straws, and silverware. (Basics) And a quick note on the 7-Layer Hoss Dip: don't expect seven layers. It comes in a small thick ceramic bowl and was basically beans, guacamole, a tiny bit of corn and some hard cheese on top. Definitely would not recommend it. Way too "beany" and not worth $16 at all. The southwest rolls were decent- very fried tho. Cheesecake Factory's are better ;) The location and dog-friendly atmosphere are great, with the exception of the homeless camp right at their patio entrance, but unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. Hopefully this was just an off night, because Big Lug has a lot going for it.
