This restaurant came highly recommended. In fact, a friend told me that the fried chicken here was better than what you could get in New Orleans. I came in with high hopes! The flavor of the fried Chicken was excellent, but the skin was limp and it was very dark, which tells me that the oil needed to be changed. It was not crisp at all. We also had the macaroni and cheese with burnt ends. The macaroni and cheese tasted like the macaroni had been cooked separately and then cheese sauce added, stirred in, and then immediately served. The burnt ends were soft and not burnt or crispy. We also had the nacho plate. It was tasty enough but I thought it was pretty odd because it was served cold. I know it comes with ranch dressing but I was surprised that the chicken was room temperature. Basically, it was mediocre bar food. We came in at 3:30 p.m. which meant the place wasn't busy at all. We've been to The Eagle a few times and it never disappoints. My hubby and I love their fried chicken, I love their shrimp & grits and the Mac&Cheese is pretty tasty. I like that it's made with cavatappi and it's really creamy. I've also had their Fried Chicken BLT which was delicious as well as the collard greens, sweet potato crock and hushpuppies. I'd go back just to get more hushpuppies. The portion sizes are pretty big, I always have enough to take home and munch on for a day or two. The servers and bartenders are friendly and accommodating and the ambience is always lively without being too loud. Made the mistake of sitting at the bar close to the door during November and that was a big mistake because the door kept opening and freezing my legs every few minutes as customers came in and out. The management at this place is appalling. I had already taken it off my list when they pulled the bus stop nonsense, but a friend wanted to go. The way we were treated by the manager was unacceptable. Our server was put in such an awkward and unfair spot and was so sweet, I felt bad for him. Never in my life have I experienced such disrespect - threatening to call the police because we politely asked to speak to him about an incident. What a gross establishment. When we left and went next door, our server there said a lot of servers and bartenders quit there because of management, and it makes sense. I feel like this is a hidden gem of a place almost as I was researched where to get food in Indianapolis and kept finding places that always have a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. However, this placed never came up and I found it through Google Maps after some searching. PHENOMENAL find, because they have one of the best and more affordable fried chicken I have ever had. Five drumsticks for $12 is an amazing price in the current economy and it's comparable to the best fried chicken that I had in Atlanta. The hot honey that it came with was good as well, made it taste even better. I also had the pulled pork sandwich which definitely needed the sauce that it came with, was a bit on the drier side but still good. I had a meeting here during lunch time and this spot is known for their chicken... I can see why. The chicken and delicious and very flavorful. I honestly would just order that and that alone. The sides were ok, I just added hot sauce to the greens. If I had to pick a favorite side it would be the sweet potatoes! Our waitress was really nice and it was really busy during lunch time. I am officially a fan. After my first visit had some pacing issues, the management reached out and invited me back to show what they can really do--and they absolutely nailed it. We were hosted by Tiffany (the manager), who provided some of the most attentive service I've had in Indy. This time, the pacing was flawless. We started with the Hush Puppies, which were excellent, and our entrees arrived exactly as we finished the starter. I tried the Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Mac and Cheese. Fun fact: I normally hate coleslaw, but I didn't realize it was on the sandwich. I ended up demolishing the whole thing--it was that good. My girlfriend had the Grilled Cheese (the Granny Smith apples are a game-changer) and the Blackberry Lemonade. We were in and out in 40 minutes without ever feeling rushed. Indianapolis, Indiana January 2026 Love the vibe of this place. All the tables are high top with wooden chairs. There is a room around back that has more of a table setting. Concrete floor and brick walls. Front of the restaurant is all bar. Friendly bar staff that has a plethora of drinks. My husband ordered the chicken wings which come with five large drumsticks. I ordered a quarter chicken plate with white meat. We ordered the sides of mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, and the savory biscuits which have three to a plate. The biscuits were very good. They come with a side of butter and blackberry jam. The blackberry jam was very liquidy and runny. I would prefer it to be more sick. It just was absorbed by the biscuit. I wish the biscuits were served warm as they would have elevated the taste. The macaroni and cheese has five different cheeses. Very distinct flavor but good. The mashed potatoes and gravy were just as described. These two side dishes came out cold. We notified the waiter and within four minutes he had a new hot plate of both on our table. The chicken was very moist. It was served piping hot and it was delicious. The breading was thick and crunchy. My only concern with the breading of the chicken was in some bites, you could taste the hot sauce. It did not seem as if the coating was blended very evenly. The service was good. Attentive and knowledgeable waiters. Couple of concerns. It was a Sunday night and they had football games going on television. That was wonderful. But the music in the restaurant was so loud. I felt like I was in a nightclub. I suggest they turn it down a bit. Concern number two, the bathrooms were atrocious. I understand you're busy but a little maintenance goes a long way. They didn't even have toilet paper in two of the stalls. Overall, I think this was a decent place. I wouldn't give it a high score due to the bathrooms, and the music. Also the inconsistency of the chicken batter not being blended well definitely brings the score down. I would give this place four stars. read more

I have eaten her multiple times. The food is delicious. Every time I've been it was dine in and service was great. However I just got take out for the first time from them and it was a disaster. I ordered corn spoon bread that was still cold and very dry, my Mac and cheese was about half the order you get when you dine in, and I ordered a fried chicken sandwich and was given a grilled cheese in its place. I waited at the restaurant for about 10 minutes for my order so I expected the food to be hot and fresh....I was let down. All in all I still recommend this restaurant if you dine in.
