This is the best breakfast place ever.We love having Tiffany as our waitress. She always welcomes us with a warm smile and greets us by name. My boyfriend and I had the absolute best experience at this restaurant. We have been to a couple first watches before and nothing compared to this location. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the waitress Halley was amazing. My boyfriend ordered breakfast tacos and every modification he asked for was done perfectly and my French toast was delicious. Halley was very sweet and very helpful. She is most definitely what helped make our experience so good. Additionally their potatoes alone are just enough to have us come back. I found myself arriving to Jacksonville a little early and was hungry. I quickly turned to Yelp for the best breakfast I could get before getting the errands I had to run done while in town and this was the place that appeared. I had a gut feeling that it was going to work out despite only having ~1 hour before I needed to take care of business, and First Watch did not disappoint. The Space I cannot really comment on the area, as I am not familiar with Jacksonville at all, but the location was incredibly easy to arrive to and ample parking existed (necessarily so, as the place appeared pretty busy). Walking in the decor is colorful and clean, spacious and inviting. They have tables and booths, as well as a community area for those who are willing to meet a new friend in exchange for a quicker dining experience, which was most certainly the case for me. The Service Immediately greeted when walking in the door by a smiling face, I was concerned I might learn nothing was available or that the wait would be incredible for a Sunday. There were no tables available, but the community area had 4 seats and I happily chose this option to have a quick solo breakfast. Both a carafe of water and a pot of coffee were prepared for me so I was never left needing a refill, and when I asked the server what a first-timer should consider she had no issues highlighting some personal favorites. Even more fantastic: I changed my mind about an item right after ordering and ANOTHER server quickly altered my ticket so I did not have to stick with my original choice. The Food Frankly, this area is where the 4 of 5 comes from, and COMPLETELY NOT because of anything tasting bad or wrong either. "As good as it gets!" is what I look for, as Yelp outlines, and I had expectations entering the place for the "best brunch in Jax": -2 eggs, over medium -2 sliced of thick-cut bacon -multigrain cinnamon and cream cheese icing pancake The eggs were cooked correctly, so no qualms there, and the syrup that was brought to the table was warmed to compliment the hot (considerably large) cake. But, and call it being picky if you must, the "thick" bacon was definitely more...just bacon. Tasted fine and it was enough for me, but I had a little more hearty an image in my head by that wording and, with the size, I'd have rather it just been thin and crispy instead of regular and sort of tough. The other critique is definitely NOT in the portion or flavor of the pancake, as it was a really tasty combination, but more the overall consistency of it. The cake was breaking apart in the middle when cutting into it, so it was extremely difficult to actually cut pieces to eat. Add to that all of the syrup and icing being on top, I was getting one bite of everything and then eating the bottom drizzle-less section. Final Thoughts If in the area again I will absolutely consider returning to First Watch because it was incredibly affordable and had a huge variety for anyone in any type of mood. Some reviews harped on service being rough and I could see them getting busy and struggling, but breakfast Sunday morning is crunch time for this kind of place and I was almost shocked at how well taken care of I was. Excellent service. Convenient location. The food was good. The presentation was decent. The taste was ordinary. The tomatoes were fresh but you cannot taste organic in them. If I were to compare their food with that of La Grande Orange in Phoenix, AZ, I would just give it a couple of stars. The freshly pressed orange juice tasted canned. You can order freshly pressed orange juice anywhere in Amsterdam and the lousiest orange juice there tasted better. A 4 for this restaurant is appropriate in this part of the country that has been eating unhealthy breakfasts for generations and they are among the first to somehow make it a little healthier. It came with whole grain artisan toast and all-natural house preserves. I substituted the tomatoes for a fresh fruit cup. Everything was delicious and fresh. I ordered the market skillet with over medium eggs and an iced coffee. The coffee is absolutely amazing. I will be returning just to get a cup I'm sure. The skillet was pretty good. The herbed goat cheese had great flavor and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Not much to complain about except the spoon I was given with my silverware was dirty but, it happens. It is defiantly a popular place. We got there around 9:40 and there was already a 45 min wait. We got into a high top early and waited a usual amount of time for service after sitting down. Coffee was strong (not my fav) but not bad at all. The food choices are great and service was friendly. Only qualms is that our food came out luke warm. Would have liked hot food but it wasn't cold. We will be back but on a less busy day to see if there is a difference. Also! Pumpkin pancakes =winning! read more

Really nice fresh clean food. Had the club sandwich with no mayo, as it had avocado slices. Didn't want a slipper mess in my hands. Side salad & a bowl of chicken chili soup. All delicious. Just recently moved to Jacksonville and decided to give First Watch a try this morning on my way to the beach. While the food is excellent, I took issue with a number of different things in this location. 1) The employees do not wear name tags. 2) There's an employee here with a V-Neck on and has way too much chest hair exposed, I don't want to look at this guys chest hair while I'm eating my breakfast. 3) The employees do not move with a sense of urgency. I watched Mr. V-Neck guy clear a table and could not believe how long it took him. Beyond that it took far too long for our order to be taken, over 10 mins. Being a food service manager for 5 years, this would be woefully unacceptable if I were in charge. This is a winning concept with fresh, delicious food. However, the employees need reeled in, managed more strictly and a sense of urgency instilled. I'll try this place again in a few weeks. read more

Highly disappointed with the wait time. My son wanted to go to First Watch to have Waffles. My server was extremely nice and took our order within a few minutes there. We waited and waited and after 40 minutes. She said let me check on the food. She came by and said I'm sorry, but your food went to someone else. At that point, I'm upset already wasting my time and lunch break just waiting. I did not pay the bill and she was offering a gift card. As much as I appreciate that, money is not the problem here but the time for orders. In need of a jolt to start the day I asked for coffee, hubby ordered water(boring...he says healthy,lol). The coffee cup and water served in milk jar were dirty. Our server was apologetic offered to-go cups for the water and a clean cup for my coffee. And let's just say you are health conscious and you're looking for something on the lighter side, they have so much to offer! They're fresh juices are fantastic. My favorites are the Kale Tonic and the Orange Glow! This is a great place to grab breakfast and lunch on the go! They also have the No Wait app so you can put your name in line and get a table on arrival. I highly recommend the app if you're not a fan of waiting. But don't fret, even if you don't have the app, they offer community seating where you can typically squeeze in if you are dining alone or with a small party. My boyfriend and I love First Watch, we've had great experiences at the Maitland (Orlando), FL and Mandarin (Jacksonville), FL locations. We decided to give this location a try since we were on this side of town. Talk about disappointed. We didn't wait long and were pleased to be seated properly. Everyone we interacted with seemed courteous and friendly, it was our food that was the problem. We ordered our usual omelets, subbed the english muffins for toast (no butter) and ordered a pancake to share. My omelet came out as the standard order, including the ingredients I asked not to be included. They did not sub our toast and brought out the standard english muffins. When we asked for the proper toast it was COLD. How do you go back to the kitchen to grab toast for an incorrect order and it's not the least bit warm? Our pancake was barely room temperature and our potatoes were cold, as well. This was so disappointing since we usually love First Watch. I'd recommend the Mandarin location on San Jose if you're interested in First Watch, we've never had issues there, but we won't be trying this location again. read more

This place is def a go to spot. Not only is it a "farm to table" kind of place but the service is very attentive. The BLT Benedict is my go to as it is always good. The bacon here is to die for. The Benedict comes with an arugula salad that had an amazing lemony vinaigrette. I have tried a few other things on the menu but nothing tops the Benedict's here. Also, their coffee is very good. I drink my coffee black but for those who do not, they have flavored creamers at the table which is above and beyond most places. Came here after going to Mayo Clinic and was a horrible experience. I ordered the eggs Benedict and first there was no bacon on it, then there were egg shells in the eggs. My Mom ordered the granola bowl and couldn't eat it or the muffin. The granola was soggy and the muffin was hard as a rock. Ordered a roast beef sandwich to replace that and 20 minutes later still waiting while everyone else was finished eating. For the amount of money $60 for 2 roast beef sandwiches and eggs Benedict and the granola definitely not worth it. read more

They got us in pretty quickly considering they were busy so i appreciate that and the food didn't take too long to come out. However, i ordered a ham melt, broccoli cheddar soup, and a side of cheese grits. I asked for my sandwich to have no tomato or Mayo and mustard. The cheese grits didn't come out until 20 minutes after my food because they forgot it. I then looked at my sandwich and there was tomato and Mayo and mustard on it which is an honest mistake. When i asked for another sandwich prepared the way i asked he started arguing with me and insisted i just take the tomato off and eat it. When i said i just rather a new one he told me the sauce wasn't Mayo and mustard and it was just butter they put on the bread and that was definitely a lie. When my cheese grits came out they weren't cooked all the way. He did give me and the girl i dined with a free ice coffee for our troubles but i still can't get over the way he argued about my sandwich. I was over at Hodges blvd and decided to meet my mom for a quick bite to catch up. I wasn't really hungry so I grabbed a cup of coffee while she ate her banana granola pancakes (her absolute favorite thing in this world). While she was talking I noticed a sign that talked about how First Watch sources their coffee. They partner with an all female, Colombian coffee company that's called Mujeres en Café. Unfortunately Columbia has been troubled with civil conflict for quite some time leaving many families father/sonless. The woman are often required to run their family's coffee farms alone as a result. Being that it's typically an all male dominated field this is not an easy task. SO, Long story short, First Watch buys their coffee exclusively in an effort to support this cause. Their coffee has always been delicious but I gotta say I enjoyed it a little more after hearing where it came from. read more

This place is great. I've been here more times than I can even hope to remember and only had a somewhat poor experience once! The food usually comes out faster than you'd think possible, the staff is friendly and attentive, and you don't have to wait for your check after you're done eating! If you're in a hurry, or just want a good place to stop and eat you literally cannot go wrong by eating here. If it's the fall season, you have to try the pumpkin pancakes. Good food, friendly staff, DIRTY RESTAURANT. I used to love coming here with my girlfriend every week. Then we noticed that our cups were dirty and would have to send them back every time. Recently there was chunks of food floating in our water jug. They always apologize and I know it's not the servers fault, but this happens on the reg. Pretty much every time without fail we get dirty glasses, or water jug. This time however, was the final straw. Dirty water jug, there was old food INSIDE my rolled silverware, and a bug in my girlfriend's kale tonic. We wanted to love this place so bad, but they let us down time and time again. Will not be coming back. Everyone, be warned! Look closely at your water cups and silverware. This place lacks attention to detail on the most important part of the food service business.
