Second time in Knoxville- just happened to find this gem. I've been eating clean for two months, harder when traveling. This was refreshing. Farm to table to stomach - excellent. I noticed the guy behind me ordered 2 full orders of bacon, I forgot order bacon with my order. I asked him if it was good - uh, duh yes! Upon seeing his, I had to get some. He told me that this was his splurge day and this is where he likes to come to splurge. So on the way out he actually bought my bacon for me, and asked me to pay it forward. Pay it forward folks! Every time we come here we have a great experience. There's something for everyone! I personally really enjoy the hash browns and toast they have, it's something I can't quite get anywhere else. The potatoes are soft but not too soft, they're crisped perfectly. The toast has weight to it, and it's buttered well. I'd recommend getting a skillet hash with your eggs over easy so you can get the flavor of the yolk ALL over your food. The staff is incredible here! This location is near me and my husband and I eat here often and usually love it. Today I ordered take out. All four to go spots were taken so it was a hike to pick up order. They grabbed it quickly and I took it home. It was awful. The eggs were crispy all around the edges, the avocado toast was black and nothing but mashed avocado. No oil, lemon or sea salt. Never had this experience here but I think I'll wait until there aren't hiring cooks signs everywhere. Apparently all the cooks quit at once. The hostess said she notified us our table was 5 times but I never got one, so make sure to double check the contact info they have for you if you get into line' online. Also, when you get there, don't forget to check in with the host, even if you got in line online-otherwise, you will not get added in and will never get a table. AMAZING breakfast! The star of the show was the lemon ricotta pancake. And take heed of the menu warning: these pancakes are huge. I would skip the million dollar bacon, though--it just tasted like regular bacon with maple syrup on top. I see other reviews said the service was bad, but that was not our experience. Portions here a VERY small, and the service is slow. We ordered the Chickichanga ($11.99 for what I'd call more of a rolled taco with a scoop of potatoes and a small cup of fruit) and their Million Dollar Bacon ($5.49 for 4 strips of bacon). It took them 30 minutes to bring out the two items, I forgot to snap a picture because I was so hungry. Then it took 10 minutes of us sitting with empty plates for them to bring our check. Came here with my hubby on our way in to Asheville. Cute little place. Very crowded, so I would suggest to join the waitlist via Yelp, so you don't have to wait too long once you arrive and check in. Since we joined the waitlist on our way to the restaurant, we only waited 7 min before we were seated. Loved the environment and atmosphere. Service was really good and while you wait for your table, you can help yourself with a cup of coffee/water. I ordered the Tri-Fecta since it came with a Belgian waffle. It was good, but I wish I tried another breakfast dish since mine was the usual breakfast and nothing special. You can always get bacon, eggs, and Belgian waffle. My hubby ordered the salmon eggs Benedict. That looked really good. It also came with a side arugula salad, so that is when I wished I ordered something different. Came here for brunch with a group of classmates after our last final. They usually don't take reservations but since we were a group of 11, they did. I'm not sure if the reservations made much of a difference, since they didn't have a table for us so we had to wait similarly to a walk in party. After being seated, the service was fast! You can't go wrong with this. - Smoked salmon and roasted vegetable frittata: if you're wondering where the salmon is, it's hugged in between the eggs. It's basically a vegetable omelette with salmon in the middle. It comes with a side of greens and bread. FYI- the salad doesn't come with dressing! - Smoked salmon eggs benedict: I've had better but I absolutely loved the sauce. It was very creamy. - Shrimp and grits: my first experience with shrimp and grits for breakfast and it was below my hopes. The grits weren't creamy and cheesy and the shrimp didn't have a grilled taste. Croquet madame: the sauce was perfectly creamy! What is this dish? Seems like a huge texas toast topped with ham and egg with sauce. - Lemon ricotta pancakes: pancakes were fluffy and light but the lemon ricotta seemed like a spread from a jar. We always like to try places we've never been to. First Watch was the place today and it was time for breakfast. The place was pretty busy but we were seated right away. Our Waitress Morgan showed up just after we seated to pour a cup of coffee, take a drink order, and ask if we had questions. Advertising in the place convinced both My Wife and I to try the Carrot Crsuh Juice. Delicious! The coffee was hot and showed potential but was a bit weak for my liking. I ordered The Smoked Salmon Benedict and My Wife decided on The Biscuits and Turkey Sausage Gravy. Both meals were good. I can't say that anything stood out as being outstanding but we weren't dissapointed. The portions aren't huge but you won't leave hungry. Morgan was awesome. Very friendly and was always there to check on us. Yelp says 3 Stars is "A-OK" and I would say First Watch is just that. read more

I'm giving this restaurant a five star, simply because we are in desperate need of breakfast establishments in Knoxville. This particular location trumps the location over in Turkey Creek. The aesthetics of the inside of the restaurant is very pleasing to The Eye. There is ample seating from booths to high tops to four top tables. We found ample staff to take care of customers. Staff was extremely friendly, accommodating, and attentive. There are a number of brand-new breakfast items on the menu. There is a sign when you walk in the door that shows pictures of these new items. Unfortunately the item I received did not look like the picture. But what's new there? My only complaint, is that servers seat customers at tables that are in busy walkways. I've never understood this. If there are tables near windows, or booths that are not in walkways, why not seat people there first? What makes someone think that a couple coming in for breakfast wants to sit in the major walkway where every tray that comes out of the kitchen is going to pass by them? Where every coffee pot, glass of ice water, and stacks of dirty dishes are going to pass by them? This perplexes me to no end. Thankfully our server was accommodating when I requested to move to a quieter location. For the most part our breakfast at First Watch was delightful. My husband, who is very particular about food prepared by others, really enjoyed his breakfast and a coffee they served. I have gone here with groups that have veggies, vegans, and gluten-free and there is something for everyone. My top favorites: Avocado toast with potatoes for a side (my #1), and the skillet hash farmhouse (essentially a plate of potatoes, tomatoes, avocadoes, eggs, etc.) and their specialty items! ALWAYS look at the specials menu, there's always something really good for a sweet tooth, usually a delicious flavored pancake! Their coffee is good and so are their other drinks. My husband loves getting one of the juices, they have two options, one is a green juice and one is called the "sunrise/good morning something." He gets it every single time. I normally enjoy eating here, today I experienced the worst service! In the beginning our waiter was very nice and I enjoyed my meal, we thanked our waiter for the service and went to pay. My fiancé had left a tip on the table because we paid with cash up front. As we were walking out our waiter followed us outside and yelled at us saying"did you guys even tip?" My husband and I just tried this a week ago. I had never been to First Watch but I had heard good things about it. I had the carbonara Benedict with cheese grits and it was amazing. I have to agree some of the other reviews, Knoxville has been desperate for a good breakfast place. I knew by the line when we arrived that we were in store for something good. The entire vibe of the restaurant was nice. When you walk in to the left was a "Community table" where large parties or a few couples can sit it, it seemed very homey. The decor in the restaurant is really cute. A cross between farm theme and urban. Very fresh. The food was awesome. We shared the avocado toast and soon discovered that is a meal alone. Not like just ordering a side of toast. I had the bacon skillet and it was divine. The bacon was fresh, flavorful and not too salty or smoky. It came with their bread that is so good. Super thick "seems" healthy. My husband had the eggs Benedict with ham and they were not only pretty, but so yummy. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even with a jam packed waiting area. I wish we had a First Watch by our house! We were on a road trip to find the Pick of Destiny (and a house) and found this place. You can eat here and not feel like a greasy turd when you are done. The food is delicious and not dripping with oil. I don't need to go into what we all ordered, I fully believe anything you try will be good! I am from out of town but this was my second coming this week already and I am also coming over the weekend! Everything about this place is just the way I like it. The atmosphere is very "hip" and a refreshing break from all the "mom and pop" places where I am staying in Gatlinburg. They take a bunch of basic dishes that have been around for a long time and put a unique, modern twist on it and I just love that. The first time I went I got the morning meditation and kale tonic juices which were amazing! I love how they keep them on the healthier side. Today I got the rainbow toast and biscuits and gravy. I visit the Kingston Pike location occasionally, and the food and service are always top-notch. It takes a lot for me to complain about service, but yesterday (3/19/23) was an exception. I won't go into what the server did, but the manager was wonderful. I so wish I could remember his name so I could mention him. And before he came up front to talk with me, he was helping the cooks in the kitchen. THAT'S a great manager. I will continue to visit this location, and the manager is one of the reasons why.
