The chimichurri steak and eggs hash is amazing, one of the best restaurant dishes I have ever had in Louisville. It is a current seasonal special, and it was better than dishes I have had at more upscale restaurants locally. It was under 16 dollars and enough for two meals plus beautifully presented in how it looked and in a glazed blue bowl. The restaurant's ambience is bright and a farmhouse vibe. I thought the coffee could have been better but the restaurant had flavored creamers that I enjoy so that took care of that plus I was offered and accepted a complimentary coffee to go with creamer. This location has parking around the building and is part of a shared plaza. We tend to drop in early in the morning before the morning rush starts so we are seated quickly and are able to order right away. I like the variety of seasonal options. The service is always friendly and efficient. There is lots of natural light which gives it an open feel even when it is busy. One of the reasons we like first watch is the quality of the ingredients and consistency in quality, experience and taste across various locations. I got the traditional breakfast with chicken sausage, over easy eggs, potatoes and gluten free toast. The price and portion size are good. This review is for 2 locations; Hurstbourne Lane and Taylorsville Road. I like to visit more than one location, just to ensure that my experience (good or bad) wasn't a fluke. They offer a "limited time " item called Double Bacon Parmesan Hash. It should be on their menu permanently. I've had this item at both locations and it was fabulous. The preparation was "spot on" at both locations, the flavoring identical, and a lovely presentation of the final product. I would have taken a picture, but I couldn't wait to dig in. The seasonal menu offers some variety and is worth checking out. My go to is the Farmhouse. Solid hash with ample portions. The multigrain toast is a winner as well. Their preserves take it to the next level. Kids menu has enough variety for picky eaters. Can eat outside, if that's what's you prefer. First Watch has some of the best breakfast potatoes and jams. We enjoyed everything we ordered. I recently tried their BLT eggs Benedict which was fun and flavorful. Service is usually quick despite being busy. I do think they try to accommodate for too many patrons, so if you are a party of 2 you may be seated very close to another party of 2 which is uncomfortable and awkward. I enjoy that they are one of the only breakfast restaurants with fun, flavored iced coffees that don't also have liquor in it. read more

The juice is always a good choice - fresh, good taste, and healthy. However, the entrees can be a hit or miss. The food I had here were undercooked and arrived almost 50 minutes after I got my drink. I can't wait to try the one on Taylorsville they just opened! Today I stopped in just to get their kale and beet juice to go. They were so friendly and made it very easy- in and out in 5 mins. Everything I have had here has been delicious and it's just a good place to go alone or with a group. So many options of food to choose- from classic breakfast / brunch to funky pesto kale bowls (my favorite!!!). Another more breakfast favorite of mine is the Floridian! First watch could be so much more. The aesthetic is nice but the food is meh. I ordered a roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce. The bread was great! The shaved beef was not tender, not juicy, not ideal. The servers we interacted with were awesome! I initially ordered the tortilla soup and it was soooo bad. I requested fries instead. They honored the request with no questions. I always feel bad but when something is inedible, you have to do it. There are much better breakfast options in the city. read more

The food and service were amazing this morning. Our friends from out of town wanted to try it out. In the past I had never been impressed with it due to some service issues but today's visit well surpassed my expectations. Bridget is on top of her game!! She was quick, highly attentive and delivered customer service like no other. Most importantly, she made some great recommendations and was courteous to me as she noticed the booth was a little tight so we moved it back some. I ordered the Belgium waffle which was perfectly crisp, served with butter and a berry compote on the side. I ordered a side of pork sausage and fried potatoes. Perfect pairings. I really enjoyed that they leave water in a jug at the table. That's a good touch. My husband ordered the works omelet which included mushrooms, cheese, sausage, bacon, ham and of course (egg) with a side of buttered grits. This growing brunch chain is one that I have seen sprout up in parts of Indiana and Kentucky. The unique name did not lead me to believe it was a restaurant so I always ended up passing it by. I'm glad I finally stepped in! I ordered the 2 For You which can consist of any two combinations of a half portion of soup, salad or sandwich. I chose the Roast Beef and Havarti with the Sweet Honey Pecan salad. The salad is absolutely delicious with the perfect spice and sweetness from the Honey Dijon Dressing with the different textures provided by the chicken and pecans. The sandwich is hands down one of the tastiest I've had. The bread has an amazing crunch with a toasted cheese top which compliments the meats inside. The best part about this delicious combination was that it was under $8. The service from when I entered the door to when I paid was great. My boyfriend and I came to first watch to celebrate my 1yr work anniversary because who the heck doesn't love chocolate chip waffles to celebrate!? There was no wait which rarely happens, so we got to walk right in. We did get placed at a large circular 6 person table because of the COVID restrictions. It was a little awkward but definitely not their fault since they have to keep people separated around the room. The waitress was really friendly and helpful. I got the tri-fecta and he got the healthy turkey omelette. Both meals were phenomenal. I typically go for the healthier side meals when I'm there, but I couldn't resist a good waffle. We have had First Watch in Colorado in the past so knew what we were walking into. Everything tastes fresh and is always so flavorful. Waffle was straight and to the point - perfect texture and light. Cheese grits were so so so good. They had the perfect amount of salt and pepper and perfect amount of cheese. Potatoes are always great, the sautéed onion always add a good touch. Morning Meditation drink was good. A drink that has great health benefits is always good.
