When the Pandemic was announced I went on the heart attack diet, eat everything because you only live once kind of eating. I realized that good eating doesn't have to be bad for you. We have some of the best restaurants in town to get great healthy eats from as well. One of my all-time favorite places is First Watch! I only have two locations that are my top favorites Hampton near Langley AFB and Hull Street Rd. I rarely go to Langley, but was so thrilled to hear that Hull Street Rd was back in business. They're the quintessential place to go for healthy eating that tastes unhealthy. The staff is always eager to help, upbeat and friendly, they make you feel at home. I have not ordered anything from them I have not been happy with. I even introduced their food to some neighbors who had not eaten there. I took a chance on a quinoa bowl with Italian sausage and egg, since I'm trying new lifestyle eating and it was to die for! I ordered a chicken pesto quinoa bowl for my friends mom and she didn't want to share with her daughter, and bowl was too huge for me to finish. They also have lemon ricotta pancakes and million dollar bacon, which was my go to fixation before I began exploring other options. Go check them out if your in the area they're so worth it! I have been here a few times now for breakfast with my kids, and while I think it has definitely improved in the menu and decor (formerly The Egg and I) the service remains the pits. Very long wait times to receive not only food, but drinks. Inexperienced, unprofessional wait staff. Disarray and lack of organization at the front, where swarms of people are standing around waiting to pay as well as waiting to be seated, with little guidance from anyone who works there. I love the healthier options that are available, but it's way too chaotic and hectic every time I have eaten here, just not worth it. I'd much rather wait until the Dessertierie across the street opens at 11 and get the quiche & fruit for brekkie. Will not be returning. read more

My first visit to First Watch was last year at their location off of Huguenot. Great experience, so I was pretty excited FW was opening closer to home. My daughter and I arrived on Friday around 9:30amI. There was no wait, though the restaurant seemed fairly busy. The hostess was kind and courteous, it wasn't long before she showed us to our table. The atmosphere was amiable and relaxed. Our server Jules greeted us in no time after we settled into our seats. I just kept it simple with water and coffee. The menu seemed to have a great variety of options that could cater to people with different needs. A lot of the options sounded really good. The kids menu had a decent selection as well. The menu is decently priced. My daughter had the kids French Toast, powdered sugar on the side with sausage. I opted for the Braised Short Rib Benedict and an additional side of hollandaise. It was certainly not long until our orders arrived! Everything was correct, the food was hot, portions looked great. My daughter ate every bite of her French Toast and she could not get enough of that super tender sausage! My order looked delicious, though I barely saw any short ribs, but I thought to myself that it was hidden under the delicious poached egg and the Parmesan cream. A hefty side of seasoned potatoes accompanied my eggs benedict. I finally cut into my entree. As I excitedly stab into it with my fork which is full of eggs, pickled red onions, arugula, ciabatta, the excitement unexpectedly falls short when I realize that there is little to none of the wine braised short ribs that I looked forward to... because why else would I order this entree? I am left with confusion and sadness. However, it did not deter me from eating my entire plate as it was still good. I savored the flavor of any braised short rib that I did have on the plate. The one thing that made the experience more enjoyable than normal was Jules. She is a fantastic waitress! She is super accommodating and very personable. Jules did an excellent job when it came to ordering as she patiently listened to certain requests on our order to pre-bussing our table. Plenty of table checks at a perfect, staggered amount of time. She was never overbearing. The tables in the restaurant are pretty close, so I was also able to witness her hands full with dishes, etc and yet she still took the time to acknowledge other patrons that were just seated even just to tell them that she would be right over. So let's start at the beginning... the little app checkin thing is really cool. Put our name in line when we were still laying in bed. Got to the restaurant and after checking in went and sat in the car waiting for a text saying the table was ready. Very cool. We get seated and the waitress is very frazzled and therefore coming off as rude. Doesn't ask for our drinks, doesn't ask if we want any of their special drinks or anything. Never got water that every table is supposed to get. My wife had to prompt the waitress after ordering our food about which drink she wanted. *crickets crickets crickets* That's what is was like waiting for FORTY minutes of watching our waitress serving the larger 8 person table their waters, coffees, foods. Must've been nice to not be thirsty. I've given this place two tries. I want to like it. I really do, but I just can't justify spending another dime here. Breakfast ought to be sumptuous, simple, and fussless. Something that coaxes me from my PJ's in the morning. At this I'd be enchanted if my food was HOT. Maybe HOT food would be nice. The biscuits and gravy was a huge letdown. It was TURKEY gravy. That is unforgivable. "It's healthier." If I had to weigh my arteries hardening a day earlier versus dying from a crushingly depressive bummer of a meal, bring on the arteriosclerosis! The Elevated Egg Sandwich sucks to-go. Have a burning desire to have the hamfisted kitchen staff smash your egg in your sandwich so the bun is a soggy, soppy mess? Thinking bits a Monday morning it'll be way for us to get a seat. When we arrived the waiting crowd was almost out the door. The wait was 30 minutes due to being short staffed. Many tables were open and not cleaned. So everyone could have Been seated if someone focused on cleaning the tables. Some people who were waited did leave. While waiting for the check observed an employee sanitizing with a spray bottle, the table, the creamers, the condiments, including the sugar packets. Obviously new employees, with no one to support them during lunch hour. The waitress did everything she could to provide a good experience. This unit needs a QA review sooner than later. read more

We asked for a booth walking in because the restaurant was practically empty, and the waiter was so apprehensive because "it wasn't that person's turn" to get a table. I checked in online, as they recommend. It said my wait time was 30-45 mins. I got a text saying to check in when I got to the restaurant. The hostess tells me that it doesn't matter if I checked in online and that it's been 45 mins, that I'm 14th in line!!!! I talked to the Manaus doctor she admitted that they have a flawed system and apologized but it is what it is. So not only did we wait 45+ mins, we now have to wait again like we are just now checking in.... could now be a three hour wait. This establishment is unorganized and is not set up for serving more than a handful of people at a time. Food is slow to come out and is often cold when it finally does reach your table. Would not recommend until they can fix these things!! read more

I was so excited to try First Watch for the first time! The service was great! But the food I would give a 3/10. I got the trifecta which came with a Belgian Waffle which came out cold and my butter wouldn't melt and it was flaky, the bacon tasted like precooked microwaved bacon and the eggs were o k a y. For $16 I think I would totally choose Waffle House or IHOP over first watch :( if I ever go back I would try the breakfast potatoes and maybe French toast instead. read more

I am writing this review sitting here with my food cold, and I will never ever come back here again. We waited an entire hour to be seated. Once seated, the waitress was nice and took our food. I have waited another 30 minutes for my food to come. It is cold and under portioned. Our food wasn't brought at the same time either. Now, I'm sitting here with my two friends who have food, and mine has gone back to the kitchen. Absolutely atrocious food service process. It is not hard to organize an establishment and come up with a way for people to be seated. The hostess was walking us around the restaurant to figure out where to sit us. We are literally sitting at a table that could have 6 people at it- and there was a smaller table we could've gone to. Food is lackluster and I am angry at this whole situation. First time at this new location and this one is wayyyy better than the midlothian turnpike location. Though I'm sad to see egg and I go I actually found something I like eating here! Breakfast started off with a small incident, but our waitress (Jocelyn) and the entire staff handled it professionally. A soda was accidentally spilled on my husband yet I'm still leaving a 5 star review. Our waitress was so apologetic and I seriously can't recommend her enough-we will ask for her again when we come back. The food came out quickly and was hot, they didn't forget any of the components of the meal, and I'm actually really looking forward to coming back. One word of advice: get here before 9. As we were leaving the place was packed with a line out the door. The layout ensures a cluster jam by the front door but I'm learning that's typical of this chain.
