Quite to our surprise there was no wait to get a table. The parking lot looked full so not sure where everyone was. Inside the place looked fresh, which is not surprising since it opened only a few days ago. Our server took our order and we noted that we needed one additional water glass as our party was three and not two. She said she would bring it. Much to our surprise, our server never stopped back by with the glass and our breakfast eventually arrived, delivered by food runners. We asked one of them for the water glass and some extra napkins. Still our server never stopped back by to check how we were doing with our food, but if she had, I could have informed her that my chicken sausage patties never made it out with our order. Our server hovered with two other tables somewhat nearby, but she was never close enough to me such that I would have had to shout at her to get her attention. So, I let another server who happened to pass that the chicken sausage patties did not arrive with our order and to please let our server know. Still, our server did not come by but toward the end of our meal, the chicken sausage patties came out, piping hot. Overall, the food was unremarkable. The avocado toast that I ordered was without seasoning and essentially chunks of avocado on toast accompanied by my two eggs on the side. Honestly, no noticeable flavor! My child's waffles were tasty and as was the hot chocolate. The coffee also was unremarkable as far as flavor. My wife ordered the Healthy Turkey and said it really didn't have any flavor. The chicken sausage patties were tasty but the million dollar bacon that our server raved about while we were ordering was not worth the money. Still, our server had not come by, but was tending to the two other tables! An experienced server did stop by and offered to clear our finished plates. She was friendly and attentive while doing so. While we had her attention, we mentioned that we would appreciate a box to take the two strips of million dollar bacon with us, as well as the check if she could do so. Shortly thereafter, our server--yes, THAT "our server"--came by with the box for the bacon and our check. At the cash register station, I was asked how things were and quipped "since you asked, the food was not very tasty and our server neglected us." She commented that many of the staff are new and still learning, and she subtracted $10 from our bill. While I was not seeking any discount on our check, I thanked her and added a tip reflecting the server's level of service provided. My standard for service is 20% and it can go up with better service. I left 10% this time. My initially thought was that our server, in fact, was experienced so I was surprised at being neglected. Also, since First Watch has locations all over the place, it should know what it's doing when opening new locations. They are not a startup and trying to figure it out. They have server training. This was our first experience at a First Watch. Richmond is a foodie town so considering such, it also was our last experience at a First Watch. Today, I called in an order at this particular location, and to my pleasant surprise, when I arrived just moments later, my food was ready, and it was prepared correctly. First of all, when we were put on the waitlist we were told it would be 20-25 minutes. 40 minutes later we went to check when we would be called and the guy at the desk said 20 more minutes. We were in disbelief and were asking again how that could be. Luckily, there was another worker passing by and said it would be just until they could clean a table. So we waited another 10-15 minutes while about 15 people queued up to pay. Finally we were seated. The waiter was nice and the menu was substantial. I got eggs Benedict blt and my husband got the Belgian waffle. The wait for food was a little long. My husband liked his waffle and it came with homemade mixed berry jam, syrup and dusted with powdered sugar. My food would have been good but it was cold. I don't mean it had been hot and cooled off a little bit. It was Cold. The poached eggs were barely cooked and the whites were quite runny. I had opted for potatoes instead of mixed greens. The potatoes weren't quite as cold as the eggs but they were very greasy, as in there was a pool of oil on the plate underneath the potatoes. They tasted ok, but the oil was off putting. The restaurant ambiance is quite loud. Hard floors, no carpet. Tables, no booths. So the pros were the food was tasty. Cons were super long wait and cold food. If we lived closer I would give this place a second chance, but as we live an hour away it's not worth it. read more

Consistently excellent food and service. I've had brunch here twice in the last week and several times prior to this. The portions are good sized, the prices fair, the service friendly, and the food fresh and tasty. I love that the menu items display the calorie count very clearly & that they will substitute egg whites and gf options at no charge! They will also start your table off with a pot of coffee if you desire. Their patio is nice and there's a bar if you're interested in that. VERY BUSY Saturday late morning, I chose to take a seat at the bar. Darien was very welcoming, got my beverage, told me to take my time with the menu. My vantage point was directly into the kitchen, I was VERY impressed with the precision, grace and kindness each of the associates had for one another-at the pace they were working the plating was still beautiful and everyone was pleasant and courteous! Great spot. Everyone raves about another brunch/breakfast spot near here in Midlothian but I think place is better. The juices are excellent. I got the morning meditation and it was delicious. I had never heard of First Watch before but I love breakfast and Brunch food. So when I drove past it one day I decided to turn around and give it a try. The bartender, William, was really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and was able to answer any questions I had. He requested I try the Chickichanga. It did not disappoint. Food was hot and tasted fresh. To drink I got the Kale Tonic, which hearing it doesn't sound too appealing but to taste it was a different story. It was amazing. The manager, Jeremy, came out to talk to me and was very interested in my feed back but I had nothing negative to say. If you don't wanna wait, I recommend coming in at a later time, but the food is worth the wait. I will be back again and again. This will be a regular spot for me and my friends. read more

I have heard nice things about this place and was in the neighborhood. I thought I would give it a try. I was greeted immediately when I walked in and was sat quickly. My server, Liz, was prompt and knowledgeable and patient with my questions. I was impressed with the fresh pot of coffee that they bring to the table. The flavored creamers on the table were a treat. I ordered the traditional breakfast and I was not disappointed. My food came quick and was very good. I did venture out of my comfort zone and ordered a kale tonic. Geez what a treat! My first experience at First watch was in Louisville KY, and I was so in love with their food. Yesterday I realized that we have a restaurant in the area, so me and my boyfriend decided to have breakfast over there. We arrived at 10:40 AM and they take your name and said 20 - 30 minutes waiting time. We were there for 1.5 hours, a lot of cars were picking up take out orders but we never got a table.
