Went here for Mother's Day. Food and service was wonderful. They even gave me a little box of chocolates! This is a favorite place with girlfriend's whenever we actually find the time to get together. Freshly baked blueberry muffin is to dye for! After seeing long lines and waits for First Watch, I finally got myself to try it. I was not impressed. Ended up going here on a random weekday, thankfully there was no wait to be seated. I ordered biscuits and gravy, and my wife ordered vegetables Benedict. My wife's eggs were not properly pouched, and were overcooked. Nothing gets me more upset than hardened pouched eggs. We were not going to say anything about it but, come to find out, there was a hair in my gravy! Immediately sent it back. At this time, we also complained about the eggs being overcooked, so the waitress took both dishes back, and brought us new ones. She was extremely nice, I felt bad because she was relatively new. Once we recieved the newly made dishes, they were both extremely bland, and by then, I had already lost my appetite thinking about the hair in my food. The establishment was nice enough to not charge for the meal. I left a nice tip for the waitress, and left the food barely eaten. I had a poor experience, and the food was poor in taste. This is the best breakfast place I have been to, the food is fast, and the people are just amazing. When we told our waitress we were in a hurry she hurried and was so appreciative!the atmosphere is awesome because of all the kind people and the modern touch. Best breakfast we've had in the area in a long time. Avocado toast was great and the Frittata Rustica was amazing. Our kids couldn't get enough of the Millionaire bacon. Everything exceeded our expectations food wise. So so good. I would give it 5 stars for food. 4 stars is for the longggg wait (1 hour). They text you when your table is ready so you can go shopping at the mall behind the restaurant but they gave our table away within 5 minutes which was annoying especially with hungry kids (we had to wait another 5 minutes, after waiting a full hour). Pretty darn good. I thought this was similar to a Panera, but it's a sit down place. Ordered the egg sandwich with a side of sausage and hubby ordered the French toast. Service was great, food was very tasty, fresh and hot. The coffee was enjoyable and I like how they keep the carafe at the table. I've been here three times in about five weeks weeks. First time. Zero Parking. If u know the location is horrendous. The parking by 2booli and Nordstrom rack is huge but still couldn't find a spot. Finally one of a million cars left and we got it. 1 1/2 hour wait. I was way too hungry to wait that long. Although very disappointed we wound up at Leo's. I am not basing my review on this as it wasn't their fault. 2nd time: same issue for parking. This huge lot has never ever had so many cars before all these these new construction started. There are spots right in front of first watch but with the other 10 new shops that have opened or will open, it's going to get worse. Now for the meal! I had a Belgium waffle with a fruit compost. I also ordered a milk for my meal and I had to try a slice of their multi grain toast. My daughter got avocado toast (which come with 2eggs) and grits . She had a sparkle in eye every bite of her toast. The grits she didn't care for but she thinks if she got the cheese ones it would have been better. Cristina was the best server I've had in ages. Loved her! Third trip I got my usual (see last visit) and my daughter got avocado toast. My best friend got carrot cake pancakes and million dollar bacon. I hate carrot cake. She gave me a bite and it was delicious! The million dollar bacon was to die for. It's bacon and has a sweet glaze on it. I hate bacon but this is awesome!!!! So here are pointers before going. Download first watch's app or go to yelp. You can put yourself on a waiting list before leaving and they will tell you what time to arrive. I hate giving the advice because the fewer that know the less wait online there will be. Also it in my opinion it's very warm in there. Not enough air conditioning to keep you cool which is awful in May. Last but not least the staff. Hostesses very nice. Waitress also nice. Only issue is there are slow. Our first waitress was pretty good but out second one never checked up on us. We needed drink refills and she forgot my toast. By the time we grabbed her we were almost done. Going again this morning. Fingers crossed it isn't muggy and we get a parking spot. I fo highly recommend this place. The food gets 5 Stars. One star off for not checking back on us. read more

I've been here three times since opening the first time was the day after it opened and the food is amazing every time! I did have a different meal each time I came just to try everything out- The wait staff is extremely nice and knowledgeable about the food served - Plus you got to love pot of coffee on the table ! Be sure to jointheir perks club you get a lot of coupons !! I feel I need to add to this first review- A friend of mine and I decided to come here for a late breakfast -granted it was a Sunday at noon- there was a one hour wait that I feel was handled not so smoothly- initially they took my phone number and said they'd be texting me -after waiting 45 minutes outside without an update text I did go in and they said they weren't texting any longer that they were now calling names out- As long as I was sitting there not one person came out to call a name for seating- I did see some people waiting in their cars if they didn't get a text they probably didn't get called for a table ! Inside the girls that were in charge of seating seemed a little frazzled which is understandable but not so courteous answers were being given to people as they asked about their seating situation myself included my friend was more upset than I was but we waited it out- of course the food is wonderful and I understand the busy times are tough but possibly an apology even if it -is hey I'm really sorry about the wait we're getting to everyone as fast as we can -that would've made everyone sitting there feel better- just be wary of day and time you go there for a relaxing and delicious meal ! read more

Decided to try the new place in town! I chose the community table and immediately liked the natural wood decor. I had excellent, friendly service, noticed it was loud indoors but next time will try a table in the back. I was Very happy to see outside seating!! I liked the healthy menu options but no Vegan/Veg labeling. I was impressed with the juice bar and ordered the morning meditation which was excellent!! I have only eaten here once, but had a great experience and would definitely go back! The food was very good, fresh, and came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere was very farmhouse, yet clean. There are many options to choose from and all sounded delicious, which my food was. The only downside to this type of restaurant is that they do not offer alcohol, which a bloody Mary or Mamosa is always a plus with breakfast or brunch. I have eaten here numerous times and every time the wait is INSANE! This is nothing against this particular location because I've been to other locations as well. I think it is just the business model of this company. They get you waiting to be seated for at least 45-60 mins(understandable for a good brunch spot) however once you're in you wait for another hour and thirty mins. Today, we decided we would just Uber Eats our food in order to avoid waiting in the restaurant. After an hour of waiting they CANCELLED our order and never sent us anything. I was shocked and quite upset. I feel this place crams in as many diners and orders to get cash flow, but their poor staff can't keep up. We have spoken to multiple servers who have said they are just overwhelmed and over worked. Really good food but I guess I can't justify spending money in this place anymore. read more

I am updating my review based on 2 recent visits. I come here because I like the place and the food, but those 2 last times (one on a Friday at 12 and the other Saturday at 9) the service was very bad. I joined the waiting list using yelp, it sad 15 min and we end up being there for 35min on Friday. Then the next day I came back but this time with my family, it said not waiting list since it was too early, we got there and we still waited 20 min because we needed a highchair, until I sad ok we can do without the HC if that is what is holding us from getting a table. Nobody showed up at our table for 15 min, the table sitting next to us joined later and got their food before anyone even got our orders. I had to get up and ask the hostess to send someone to our table, maybe they had a bad day since the table next to us had to get up too to ask for a box, and the table behind had to ask us to borrow our sauce since they haven't been served on the top of that they got the wrong dish. I will still be back since food is good but hopefully their service gets better. read more

First Watch opened 4 weeks ago and is the first establishment in this new row of retail space they're building at 16 & Rochester. With that being said, you can tell it's a new restaurant - they have some kinks to work out. A friend and I went for lunch today and arrived around 12:15. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, which wasn't bad considering they are new & are the only restaurant of this type in the area. However, when we were seated our waitress never came to the table. People who we saw get seated after us were approached and received water and had orders taken, yet we still hadn't had someone come to our table. The hostess happened to walk by and she ended up taking our drink orders. It was the manager who ended up bringing our drinks to us and without us even asking he said our meal was on the house due to our wait. We told him he didn't have to do that, but he insisted. We are very appreciative of the service he provided. He was kind, caring, and we could tell his mission is to put the customers first. After us asking a few questions he admitted First Watch did not expect to be as busy as they had been and are understaffed. (They're hiring, by the way!). The food is fresh and flavorful. I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict with the side of mixed greens that comes with it, my friend had their Chickichanga (spelling?) which she said was delicious. The Salmon Benedict had all the right elements and flavors, however it needed more salmon and the eggs were a tad overcooked. I had the acai squeeze drink to go with my meal which I could have ordered a whole gallon of! Every item on the menu looked enticing, and other patrons plates looked delicious. I can't wait to go back and try other items. I have faith First Watch will work their kinks out once they get some more waitresses & waiters on board. They have a huge advantage in the market because there are no other restaurants of this kind in the area unless you want to go to Birmingham, Royal Oak, or Ferndale. read more

This restaurant is a decent place for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. There are seats both inside and outside of the restaurant. The service is good. I tried the Works Omelette and the "two for you" special which was 1/2 a sandwich and you can choose either a small cup of soup or a side salad. The Monterey Club sandwich and the tomato basil soup was pretty good but the Works Omelette was quite disappointing and similar to something I could make at home, nothing special. Great place to eat but I do have a bone to pick with them. If you have a large family you are discriminated against. They do a first come - first serve type of seating UNLESS when your turn comes and your family has six people and the available table has four seats. Then you get skipped. However, if your party is only two people and the available table when your turn comes seats six people, then no problem - go right ahead and seat. No thought put basically in the efficiency and productivity and bottom line is the larger your party the more discriminated against you are with their current mode of operating. So a star for great food, a star for decor, no star for the length of waiting, no star for the seating process, one star I'll reserve for responsiveness...TBD. read more

This was our first time at first watch and will be back! Troy has been in desperate need of more breakfast places. It might be labeled as American Traditional but trust me there are things on the menu to appeal to everyone- from your smoothie and avocado toast loving millennial to your eggs and bacon traditionalist. The ambiance is great; comfortable industrial decor. They have delicious coffee to sip on while you wait for your table. The food was sooo good and the portion sizes were generous. We ordered the Chile chorizo omelette, the million dollar bacon and the lemon ricotta pancakes and neither of us were able to finish. The service was fast and very friendly.
