This is my first visit since it changed from the egg & I. Unimpressed. Basic scrambled egg and bacon traditional breakfast. I asked for crispy bacon, but it was far from crispy. Waitress asked if I wanted it to be crispy. I explained that's how I ordered it. No I didn't want crispy bacon at this point because I'm done. Meal with coffee cost 14.16. Overpriced and overrated. I won't be back. When the Egg & I was here, it was always packed on Saturday mornings. Not so anymore. Oh, and Amelia should listen more and turn down her volume a couple of notches. read more

I so desperately wanted to love it here. I go to First Watch in Katy, and it is absolutely worth the 45+ minute wait. That said, I was so disappointed. My husband and I visited mid-morning, so much of the hectic rush was over. I realize that it is still new and some are working out the kinks, but the food was incorrect twice - once just wrong and the second time cooked incorrectly. I finally gave up and just didn't eat. I expected the server or manager to apologize, make excuses, or otherwise acknowledge the situation. When asked (not our server, maybe the manager?) how the meal was, I responded (respectfully, of course) that it was incorrect then improperly prepared. The response was, "Hhmmm." Overall, the potential is there, execution is lacking, service is dismal. read more

This place used to be the Egg & I, which I am pretty sure was entirely bought out by First Watch across the country. That being said, it was not a bad thing. First Watch has some good things going for it, namely a creative menu, a fun "Fixer-Upper" feel inside, and good food. A lot of the one star reviews are people upset about the old restaurant closing, but the menus and service are nearly the same. Don't let them scare you off. It's my favorite breakfast place in town. Not even close to what the egg and I was. New ingredients and menu killed it for me. It was a pretty "hipster" place before, but now this is ridiculous. Avocado on EVERYTHING and it does not even taste good. I was shocked when I saw that First Watch only had 3 stars. This was probably the best breakfast we've had in Tyler in a while. Hubby had the Bacado and I had the Salmon & Veggie Frittata. We shared a side of million dollar bacon. It was all really good. Our waitress was a an absolute doll. My only complaint was that there wasn't any Splenda and only mini tubs of creamer. Went to Egg & I but now it's First Watch. Very expense, I got a &10.00 salad & had to ask for tortilla chips which were missing & ask for more corn. Barely found any. My husband had trifecta which was 2 eggs, 2 very skinny pieces of bacon & pancake. Had to ask for tea a second time & we never got our 2 glasses of water. It was 12:30 & not half full. For some reason the waitress stressed the breakfast drinks twice after we'd ordered tea , coffee & water. You know at 70+ we just maybe don't care for these healthy new drink things. This was my first time here. We ordered breakfast. If I was rating only the food, I'd give this place 4 stars. The food was good & tasted fresh, but my order was cold. This leads me to the service, which is why they are only getting 2 stars. Our server, who was training a new server, was awful. Very inattentive & slow as molasses. Neither she nor the trainee were friendly. Had to ask for our drinks, twice. Had to ask for creamer, twice. Never got it. Had to ask for silverware, twice. Asked for 2 waters, got 1. Ugh. Unfortunately, I really wanted to like this place and make it a regular breakfast and lunch spot. After having visited twice and being impressed with the freshness and quality of the food, my experience today leaves me with no desire to return. Looking for breakfast, I arrived at 7 am and we were the second couple through the door. The first couple was promptly seated at one end of the restaurant and we were seated at the other side. After 10 minutes of waiting and not being acknowledged or asked for our order, someone else came in and sat themselves a couple of booths away from us. The server, who identified himself as Marco, promptly emerged and went to this other booth, joked with the customer, took his order and then while passing told us he would be back. At 7:24, we got up and left without anyone ever having come to our table. Meanwhile, two other booths had been waited on and were enjoying coffee with their orders in to the kitchen. I don't care how good the food is, waiting for almost a half hour with no service is inexcusable and a very good reason for me not to return. read more

Decided to try eating here again after a disastrous first visit, when we ordered three different items, which they were out of so we left. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised but alas, was greatly disappointed again. The bacon was limp and undercooked. The ham and gruyere cheese omelet had a thin slice of ham on the inside and a barely melted piece of cheese on top. It was very dry and over cooked. The gluten free toast was toasted only on one side; I had to request butter and by the time the waitress brought it the toast was cold. The only thing they seemed to not mess up was the Kale tonic. How I wish The Egg and I was still there. Ate there frequently and it was always good. If you want a really great omelet go eat at Mamas on South Broadway, our new go to breakfast place! read more
