My server told me they do a great job with pancakes, so I opted for their corned beef hash breakfast dish, which comes with a stack of 3 pancakes. I asked for the hash to have jalapeños in it. The food came out quickly... The corned beef has was EXCELLENT! Nice and crispy, like I prefer and how I requested and the pepper in it were abundant and flavorful!! My first time here, I ordered the avocado toast for pickup. It came with 2 eggs how ever you want them and a side of fruit. The workers were friendly and the restaurant was clean. I recommend them for your next breakfast meal for larger parties or catering. We use them for our housewarming party on Sunday and they did not disappoint with of how it prepared and how well it was done. The order it self came out to be $120 plus tax for serving they had available we had a party of 15. Checking in for my order was smooth and very easy and my wait time wasn't long at all very quick and the staff was nice. We got there brunch staples pancakes and eggs and potatoes all were really good the guest love the potatoes the most and my personal favorite was the eggs and the pancakes definitely a good way to highlight the party with well made food. Walking in is like your classic diner very clean and wide space for large gatherings and to go or catering check in was easy and the manger was friendly and I brought my own bag for the food and she was able to manage to put all of it end there for easy access and carry out. Key lime pie review 6.5/10 : Lime custard is amazing, the crust is also very good, not too hard, the ratio of meringue is really off and it really isn't meringue it's whipped cream, though it is definitely home made whipped cream that just isn't key lime pie. I have lived in Virginia Beach for over 30 years and it's my first time eating here. I was bound and determined to go at least once. It was obvious from the time you walk in that's it's a family favorite. It was great seeing so many families having breakfast together and just enjoying each other's company. Our server was very polite and friendly. She checked on us several times even before our food came out. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. It came with eggs, hash browns and pancakes. My husband enjoyed every bite. He couldn't finish all the pancakes but that's probably because the chicken fried steak is a 1/2 pound. I got a side of their country potatoes and some wheat toast (I usually don't eat breakfast and I'm a vegetarian ). The potatoes were perfect!!! Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and they were seasoned perfectly. I'm glad we got there when we did because it got so packed and the line to be seated was out the door. But that didn't stop the staff from greeting every customer with a smile and just looking happy to be there. If you like big portions, this is definitely your stop. Our group of 5 decided to have breakfast on June 9th at the Village Inn. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. We were seated at a round table close to the entrance on the right. The servers would use the pathway between the table and counter to move about the restaurant which cause them to bump into one of our party several times. So, we moved the table a bit to the right. Two of us ordered the corned beef hash, one ordered the big country skillet, and I decided to try the phillycheese steak breakfast skillet which is described as "sauteed onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and Philly-style sliced beef over crispy, seasoned potatoes". The folks who ordered the corned beef hash loved it. The big country skillet was a 4 out of 5. When trying to swap out the two pancakes for a waffle, they were advise it would be a $10 up-charge!?! which we thought was a bit ridiculous. The skillet was a disappointment. The 'steak' was sliced deli roast beef and there was nothing crispy or seasoned about the potatoes. I was successful in eating a couple of bites and pushing it around the plate while the rest of our group finished their meals. The coffee was ok and the orange juice was good. Especially this late at night. So I had plenty of leftovers. If you enjoy malt vinegar such as myself, they do offer it in packets. That was the deal breaker for me on whether I was going for the fish & chips or another dish. The mashed potatoes were enjoyable and on the creamy side, but not too creamy. The Texas toast will more than satisfy those who LOVE their buttery delicious toast. A+! My husband ordered the patty melt which was on rye bread & came with fries. He efficiently devoured his meal and a good portion of my fries as well. I had an iced mocha with light ice, because nothing is worse for me than ending up paying for a 3/4th cup of ice and only a 1/4 cup of coffee. I received it as I ordered and it was divine. The hubs had a pot of coffee which he vocalized to me was on the old side. However, he did state to me that it wasn't a big deal as he knew they were closing soon and didn't want them to go through the trouble of making a new pot. So the onus is on him. I did order a slice of PB butter cup pie to go, which I sampled before I left and will tackle tomorrow. I don't frequent Village Inn but every time am asked where can someone go for downright good comfort food just like how grandma would cook it, Village Inn comes to mind. And every time I go there, I am not disappointed. This time I suggested to my friends to have breakfast. I ordered a fruit cup(I asked for a cup but they gave me a bowl!). I've tried their breakfast before but this time I wanted to try their lunch. I ordered the Marble Rye Reuben with a side of Onion Rings while my boyfriend ordered the Avocado Swiss Chicken Sandwich. I love a classic Reuben and Village Inn did not disappoint. The combination between the corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing was perfect. The Avocado Swiss Chicken Sandwich was also very good. I am an onion ring connoisseur so I had to order a side of onion rings And they tasted super fresh and were perfectly cooked. I come to Village Inn for 1 of 2 reasons. #1 I want liver and onions. #2 my brother also wants liver and onions. It's a crazy craving, but here were are. The pies are pretty awesome too, but I always talk myself out of getting a slice cause I tell my self, "the whole pie is a better deal". So.... I find the staff to be pretty laid back and friendly the last 2 times I came here(after 930pm -Saturdays) The place is old, I mean, I came to eat here over 30 years ago for the first time and I swear it's the same inside.
