I love First Watch!!! I enjoy the variety of food and I haven't heard a single bad thing about any of the dishes from my friends. The price is fair (~$10) and the portion is good. The staff has always been friendly and nice as well. This particular First Watch was a bit difficult to find because I was new to the plaza. There was a Worthington mall and First Watch was part of the mall, which I did not know. There was plenty of parking, which was a benefit over the OSU campus location. For those who have never been to First Watch, when the server gives you the check, you just bring it up to the register and pay there. We've been First Watch a number of times and it's never been impressive but todays visit was memorably bad. Toast on one meal that had been setting for a long time. It was very dry and crumbly and no amount of butter it jelly could help it. Eggs in two meals that were over cooked to the point that they were like rubber. A pancake half it's normal size delivered without syrup. We couldn't get a waitress's attention so we had to go to the service counter to get our syrup. My first encounter with a first watch restaurant was back in the late 80s while attending a meeting in Pacific Grove , California and I have been a fan of that creative breakfast establishment ever since . Fantastic establishment. Staff is friendly, food was great and not to mention it's located within a shopping center, so you can walk around while you wait! I had the "Elevated Egg Sandwich" and let me tell you, this sandwich sure is "Elevated". All of the flavors flow so well you can't help but stuff it down. I love first watch. But the dead-pan unprofessionalism from the hostess and unfriendliness was unappealing. Apart from that, Never order online here. They told us to arrive at 12:33 when our food would be ready for pickup, and I waited until 1pm for it to actually be served. When I asked why they would tell me to arrive 30 minutes before my food would actually be ready, she simply said "we don't take rush hour into consideration" Nothing like waiting 30 minutes for a To-Go order. Good breakfast I usually I get their non traditional eggs Benedict (a generous portion of thinishly sliced ham on ciabatta) hollandaise sauce is not from a mix but is not smooth and creamy and sometimes tastes like it only saw a lemon from across the room . Greens are good, potatoes and bacon (from a wife's plate) were 4 star. Pancakes are substantial (not but I prefer Cracker Barrel which makes pretty close to my perfect pancake. Decor is kind of country colonial with cool grey blue walls. A bit cool for winter but probably nice in summer. The staff is very good and the vibe is more urban than suburban. read more

Many small things can add up to create a positive or negative experience. I have been a regular here for over a year and after many visits my conclusion is that it is OK, but nothing special. This is not that anything is bad but rather it is not hitting the mark in several areas over a period of time. Here is the breakdown. Food. Food is pretty good and menu is updated as seasons change. Staff could do more to highlight the seasonal changes as I never hear them mentioned. Atmosphere. Restaurant is clean and well maintained. Customer service. This area could be great but misses the mark. Staff is friendly. Here are some ideas. When seating customers in an empty restaurant ask their preference as to booth or table as well as location in restaurant. Almost every time I visit it ends up being an unusually long wait just to get water. At My most recent visit I was seated, ordered and then asked if I could get some water and it finally came out, with my breakfast. I have also been here for lunch and had my iced tea finally make it out only after my meal had arrived. Other observations, restaurant opens at 7 and it is common to see staff seated at the tables right next to the entrance between 7-8 eating their breakfasts. They then go back and forth between eating and seating people or running the register. This is very odd and puts forth a poor image. I show up for my job at 7 am and don't sit down to eat in between serving my clients. Why is this happening at a restaurant. Serve your customers first last and solely when the doors are open. Checking I was paying only to have the person running the register answer the phone while taking care of me. Pet peeve of mine is being at a retail establishment and have to wait while someone who calls in is taken care of rather the focus remaining on the customer who drove there and waited their turn is standing right in front of them. I know there are a hundred reasons why places will say they do this but it is rude. Always focus on the person who is in front of you. Conclusion. This place is OK, but with a few tweaks could be great. Small things make a big difference. read more

It's a great place to bring friends, family or business associates. Cool, comfortable and cozy. This healthy cuisine can be found nestled in the attractive confines of the Worthington Mall - an upscale mini-mall located at the crux of I-270 and N. High St. I highly recommend everything on the menu. If you like pancakes, you can't go wrong. If you like eggs, you can't go wrong. If you like sandwiches or salads, you can't go wrong. If you like a combination of anything thereof, you can't go wrong. As a matter of fact, they offer dishes that you simply cannot order anywhere else. This is one of the best breakfast/brunch places in Columbus! They have a lot of great options if you're looking for something healthy or something other than just eggs and bacon (but those are good here too). There's usually a wait during peak breakfast/brunch hours on the weekends, but I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes. They also have self serve coffee in the waiting area if you need an immediate coffee fix! They always have special dishes, so take a look at the board on the wall or you might get a separate menu with the specials if you sit outside. I recommend any of the hash dishes and last time we got a couple things of their summer menu and they were really good! I got the avocado toast because I wanted to go for something a little lighter. I ended up being so full because they pretty much give you a whole avocado on toast plus two basted eggs. And it probably didn't help that I also got a side order of extra crispy bacon.. just couldn't resist! (So much for going for lighter!) Went to First Watch for the first time in a while in a busy Sunday morning. Pleasantly surprised when our family of four was seated 7 minutes into our 20 minute wait. Waitress came over quickly and was happy to take our food and drink order at the same time. I asked for silver dollar pancakes for my daughter and was told "no". I questioned this, as I haven't been to this First Watch in a while, but every First Watch has ALWAYS been happy to make silver dollar pancakes for my 5 year old. "Are you sure? They have done it before." Clearly annoyed by my question she replied "They are much too busy. They don't have the time to make little pancakes. Plus, there is no space on the grill." Oh, ok. I'm not sure if the waitress is up on current pancake technology but small pancakes take up less space AND less time to cook! Well whatever just give us whatever sized pancakes YOU want to make. We order the rest of the meal without incident. Few minutes later she comes back and says that the kitchen WILL make them! Hey, full points for asking, next time ask first. Ok, well she was right. They couldn't make silver dollar pancakes. Instead we got 5 pancakes at 80% size. Would have probably let that go, but then as the meal is winding down my wife was enjoying her toast and my kids were picking at their food and our waitress asked to clear our plates 5 times in 15 minutes. Clearly we were sitting there too long. Apparently $50 for breakfast only buys you 30 minutes. Not coming back for a while. Food was tasty except for the oversized pancakes. This was our favorite breakfast place for a while! There's usually a line on weekends, and they call out your name while you shop at non-descript stores. Sometimes they have local vendors selling stuff like candles and honey, which is cool. Coffee while you wait is a definite plus. The food is great, like their omelettes, breakfast burritos, or special plates. Always a good meal. One time I found a hair on my plate and told the waitress, and she got me a new one and took it off my check. I was a little traumatized, but was happy about the good service, and she took care of me. I went back several times afterwards. We've been to First Watch on a number of occasions. We came here for Sunday brunch during peak time, and so the wait was about an hour. They have a system in which you check in with the host, who will text you when your table is is ready. We were seated, and were greeted by our server. We ordered our drinks first. First Watch has a bunch of freshly pressed juices and other fresh fruit drinks. I got a large glass of grapefruit juice. The brunch items are typical. One can get eggs and omelettes to pancakes to salads and sandwiches. I was not too hungry, and so just got a bowl of their Italian wedding soup. The soup was lukewarm when it got to me, and was okay. What a great idea! I went to Yelp and searched for a breakfast place. First Watch seemed like a good choice. On the upper right hand corner of the Yelp page for First Watch, they have a Tables Available Now Icon. I hit it and put myself on the wait list. Well,15 minutes later I arrived at the Worthington Plaza First Watch and loads of people were outside waiting. I was so happy to be on that wait list early. I was greeted by the hostess who I believe was in the cyborg training program and taken to my seat. I'm a people watcher. As she was walking me to my seat, I tried to spot as many vegans, vegetarians and gluten free dinners as possible. The number got to big to keep in my head. They offer water with a twist but I went with the special drink called a Summer Blush. It would take a lot more alcohol to make me blush. The menu was extensive filled with elevated choices of eggs, pancakes, bacon, muffins etc.. The real fun is in the little box below each item called Nutrition and More. Do you want to know how many calories, sodium, carbs, three types of fats are in your choices? I loved to know these facts because it makes me feel so naughty. They also offer allergy information on each choice. The Space Bar in Star Wars take note. After that intellectually exhausting workshop, I ordered the Belgian waffles which were not elevated in substance nor presentation. I could kill myself for being so traditional. After struggling through conversation with my breakfast friend, the echo chamber making it possible to only hear every 5th word, I decided to order another drink. The waiter was nice and efficient. It was too bad that the place was packed and they only have two cooks, I said to myself 20 minutes later. If you are a vegan you are going to love the First Watch.
