First time visiting after my RP local closed shop (hope temp). Came here with for the average higher ratings but curious about the fewer Yelps. This hand car wash is part of the Marathon station here so the register is shared jointly. There's refreshments here if you'd like pick some up which is a selection others may not have. Five level of washes (I attached photo of their menu) and I went with the basic level 5 for $19. Wanted exterior and interior, wheels, but no dressing on the dash/tires. Seems to be a $1 higher than what the competition is charging (at least at their websites, I know in person it can be hiked). Just three bays/teams washing three cars at once. A wash exterior, clean interior, and a mats clean up team it seems. There's a number of chairs inside and the windows put you in front of the middle bay with a view of the first and last. This was a smaller shop than what I was used to at Rogers Park in its prime. So driving up there were two cars ahead of me waiting. Cars are in the street at that point and after. Pretty detail oriented as I didn't expect them to hit my mats so well (they are all weather, so no carpet). One guy did a cursory on the trunk (where I have a tray), so that was appreciated too - I had not cleared the trunk. Only thing I really had to do after getting back in was to microfiber the touchscreen and I was set. Would have to say mats were dry (not slippery wet) and will check, seemingly locked back into place! Smaller team, longer wait, better attention? But if there's no wait...pull right up. the $1 more if that is worth the job. read more

I am providing 1 star for their lack of Covid-19 protocol. At first, it appears the business has strict protocols in place (signs around the business saying "wear a mask" and "please social distance") but once you enter the garage/store, you will soon realize no one there is following the protocol. The gentleman working inside behind the counter did not have a mask on the entire 30 minutes I was there waiting for my car to be cleaned. It was funny because there was a sign behind him saying "Masks must be worn at all times." Also, he was smoking the entire time inside the small store attached to the garage. I am pregnant, and it made me nervous, so I ended up waiting outside in the single digit weather. There were many patrons without masks too. They did not once ask any of these customers to keep their masks on. There's def not a way to social distance in the waiting area either. The men cleaning the cars are wearing masks, but incorrectly. They did a good job cleaning the interior and exterior of my car, but I definitely sanitized my car immediately after they were done. As much as I love the service and costs, I will be choosing to go elsewhere. It's not worth the risk for me. read more

Took my car in for a much needed car wash. Six months of Covid with no interior washes and a 4-year-old is recipe for disaster! I've seen long lines at this car wash for years and have always wondered if it was worth the wait here and the answer is yes! I lucked out though and was able to pull right in one morning. The basic car wash was more of a detail! They cleaned my carpet as though it was their own car. It looked showroom ready. As a mom, I really appreciate their thoroughness. I always go to this place. I feel they do a great job and are a very nice family business. They have an under wash, which is where water is sprayed under your car prior to going into the car wash. This would be needed if you have a lot of salt water or mud under your car that you want to remove. (You have to ask for it before you enter.) read more

Full service hand car wash located out of a gas station. Compared to many of their nearby competitors they do a solid job. (If type of cleaning materials are an issue to you, I'd suggest going elsewhere. Only because some folks would prefer a softer or more professional grade cloth, sponge or chamois.) Most times they use towels. (Taking a brief look around, I have noticed they have lambs wool type mitts but I've never seen them used. It seems that towels are used for washing to drying and when wiping interiors. Not the best usage I would say. There are times I leave here with perfectly clean dashboards and others where small fibers are dragged across them.) They have many workers on deck. If they're short, sometimes one of the owners will fill-in. It's cool to see the owner pitching in when needed. Many details are touched and retouched before the car is set free. The only hiccup, at the end you have some moments before you're expected to drive off. So, take a good cursory look and see if everything is to your liking. I always check to make sure: that the rear of my crossover is wiped and vacuumed. The sunroof has been cleaned and dried. Also that heavily soiled areas have been wiped nicely. The cost is competitive with other full service wash companies. For my smaller Subaru crossover I'm still made to pay what a full size SUV pays. Still, it's under $30 and I'm given piece of mind when exiting. They usually give it the kind of detail I'm prone to give at home. A tip box is mounted on a wall near exit. Drop whatever you like in there. The spot can be crazy busy on weekends and when it's hot. Look for a line which continues around the corner onto Bryn Mawr. Get there early or beat the after-work rush. read more

I've tried a lot of car washes in Chicago. This place ranks right up there in the top 3. The friendliness of the owners as well as their attention to certain details makes them one of my favorites. For the basic wash that costs $12, the hand wash the exterior, vacuum the interior, clean the mats and dash, as well as windows inside and out. They go the extra few inches and dry the mats before putting them back in, something that other places seem to forget. They do a good job of getting the water in the door sills and trunk seams. The only negatives are that the location is kid of weird. They do not have the prices out front. It's located at a Marathon gas station, so you end up waiting in the convenience store area. It was a Sunday and maybe they didn't have a full staff, but the wait was a little long for only being the second one out in the line. Still, the friendly service and the extra attention to detail inside and out make this a place worth a shot. read more

Yohana and his crew are remarkable!!! I have been coming to this gas station for many years since I live only a few blocks away, but never tried their car wash. Yesterday, I was looking up hand car washes in the neighborhood and found First Wheel. To my surprise it was in the gas station I usually go to. :) I took my car in and asked for interior and exterior wash. A group of about 4 people worked on my car while I waited in the gas station lobby chatting with the owner. Yohana was very welcoming and friendly. They not only washed my car inside and out, but opened the trunk and used a blower to take out the leaves that were there since Fall. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. NOTE !!!! Would not recommend this place to anyone ( sorry but not sorry ) I washed my car there tonight payed that 24$ with wax wheel shiner and all that extra feauters they had . After waiting for 25 minutes I got my car back looks clean but far from clean... the windows were all foggy because they used dirty towels, rims did not have any tire shine on them even I paid for that ... leather had no treatement on it even I paid for it ... wax they spray like 4 oz of wax and wash the car after it ( no sense ) . After all they don't even have a preassure washer who will rinse the dirt of from the car instead they use a garden hose and just like that they keep hand washing ur car without any dirt removed , what obviously created scratches right away ... My second and last time I come here .. NEVER AGAIN. At least if I pay extra I would like to have that wash and extra feauters done to my car not basic wash for 24$ . Liars read more

They did a great job cleaning my car, but not a single person on staff was wearing a mask. You have to pay inside and there were 4 or 5 staff members in there without masks. This place has zero customer service or safety protocols around Covid. I gave this place a couple chances and each time was a horrible experience. First time the woman tried charging me for an SUV when my car is a cross over. She also was not wearing any mask in the small waiting area with 3 customers present. None of the workers were masked either when cleaning cars. I thought I would give this place a second chance so showed up at 4:45 during the weekday. I waited in line behind two other cars for 10 minutes when one of the workers put an orange cone in front of my car without say anything. After another 5-10 minutes I walk inside to see what's going on and the woman said they're closed. They close at 5, even though I was in line at 4:45. No one cared to say anything to me and left me sitting and waiting in my car. I explained to the woman at the front my two poor experiences and instead of offering for me to get my car washed right then and there she first tried to apologize by touching my shoulders. I walked out and she tried to open my locked car door to talk to me. Her only offer was to give me a "free wash" the following day. If you have no hesitation with poor safety measures and horrible service this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay away! read more

Have had this place bookmarked for months, didn't realize it was located in a gas station I pass by all the time. I had never been here before so I was a little confused about what to expect. You pull up into the garage, get out, and wait in the gas station lobby until they're done with your car. It's a good wash but they do re use sponges car after car. Might not be a big deal if the cars before you are relatively clean but if someone happens to have anything abrasive on their car say hello to micro scratches. My old car used to have surface scratch swirls and I'm not trying to get them again. Even in the most basic wash, interior cleaning is included. I didn't know this and had left some things in the back seat I had just picked up from the dry cleaners but I didn't have plastic wrapped. Of course, when I got home I notice a big black smudge on the sleeve of my pink blazer. Ok, I'm partly to blame for leaving it there but someone could've asked me to move it if it was in their way. They also should've owned up to it once it happened and at the very least apologized. I didn't realize this until I got home so I was not very happy, especially not after leaving a $4 tip on a $12 wash. Do not plan on coming back. read more

I've been coming here for years for my smaller car and never a problem. Just a month back while cleaning my car they knicked off the dial for the window adjustment. I noticed after I left and they were nice enough to replace. However, they refused to order the part so I did my due diligence and ordered it because I've been a customer for years. The part didn't fit so the owner sent me to a car parts place-I was just appalled considering they broke it I was being told to drive to get the part. I didn't throw a fuss because I was a customer and I get it mistakes happen. Finally, they decided to order the part for me and got it fixed. The owner old lady kept mentioning how it was $30 for the part- I wasn't sure why she mentioned it considering her workers were the ones that broke it in first place. There was no apology or telling me thanks for trying to even drive out to get the car piece. I let it go because again it was just an honest mistake. But the following week I bought my moms car which was an SUV and owner charged me 4$ more than what she charged the previous customer for an SUV-I asked the customer before me privately since we both chose regulars. I asked her why she up charged me for the same type of car and she said that's the price. I wasn't sure she was trying to make up for the price of the part she had to order. So here's to the last time I bring my cars here. What's the point of your services if they can't be provided with good customer service. And no one wears a mask in that place. read more

I just left the car wash and as I'm driving I notice that my center console is broken. Pieces of plastic tossed in the middle. They did not even tell me they broke my car and they accepted my tip. I couldn't head back because I am on a time crunch so I have attempted to call multiple times and still no response. I payed $16.00 for a basic wash and asked one of the wash men if they do tire shine. He said it was $2 extra, but was willing to do it for me as a courtesy. Great customer service right? - I thought so too... Here comes the owner, opens the door as I'm about to leave, yells at me saying that I'm trying to rip her off. When I tell her $16.00 is expensive for a basic wash she told me that if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else and slammed the door in my face. Do yourself a favor. You get it vacuumed and rubber floor mats washed along with the exterior wash! Wonderful customer service from this family owned business, they are truly a great asset to the community and show the utmost respect and loyalty to their customers. Workers leave the car looking immaculate, both inside and outside. No complaints here at all. The wait time is minimal since there are many workers doing everything at once which lets them go into great detail on your vehicle. As for detailing, one word: WOW. This place does excellent repair work. I super highly recommend it! I went on a road trip and it took a major toll on my VW. At the end of my trip, my car seriously needed some attention. Some friends recommended First Wheel, so I gave them a shot. I also looked them up on yelp and saw the good reviews, so I felt more comfortable with taking my car there. I took my car in and asked for an oil change, a tune up, and to check my brakes. The lady in that initially helped me was so sweet, and friendly. She offered me a drink (coffee or tea). I dropped my car off on a Friday and they were able to work on it the same day, but said it wouldn't be done for at least 4-5 hours because they had a few jobs ahead of me. I didn't mind leaving it there since i was kind of dropping it off last minute, and honestly I prefer that they are busy because that shows that they do good work. They offered to give me a ride home and pick me up when the car was done. WOW!!! That was awesome and totally unexpected, but I don't live too far either so I didn't feel bad taking them up on the offer. They called me after about 4 hours and told me my car was ready. The mechanic that worked on my car, i think his name is Kamal explained everything he did and told me if i had any questions to feel free to call him or come by anytime, I did have some questions about the work he did. I was very pleased with the entire process and thought everyone there was really nice and professional. Oh and they also replaced one of my wipers that was not working properly but called me first to make sure it was okay. At the end when I went to go get my car and pay, my car was washed and they even vacuumed and cleaned the interior! WOOHOO!!! Way to go First Wheel...SAY HELLO TO YOUR NEW REPEAT CLIENT!
