First the negatives. The time it takes to get your food is extremely long and the place even on a weekday is still packed (personally, there was someone at another table constantly bumping into me). But if you can get over that, this place is absolutely insane. The fish dishes we got had the largest fried fishes I've ever seen, the fried batter was so light and airy, and the flavor of the fish was just extremely fresh and well made. I prefer the cod to the haddock due to its cleaner taste and more break apart texture, but both are really good. The shepherd's pie I got was also really good, with a lot of different spices and filling with a really nice and light crust. The only dish we got that I was a little bit skeptical about was the fried shrimp, which was good, but nothing too too special. Last two things. Our waitress was SO nice and very welcoming. She made the long wait not feel like an issue on her part, but rather just the cook time for our meal. Lastly, the sticky toffee pudding was absolutely elite. I visited because a friend had to go. I found my darts and off we went. The menu is pretty UK and ex-pats would have a field day coming here to get the tastes of home. This is definitely a sports bar but it lacks a single dart board. The interior of the pub was nothing to write home about. The fried scotch egg has a tasty seasoned meat layer and tender yolk. The arugula salad and dip offset the fatty flavors. The curry pie (mashed potatoes on ground beef with curry seasoning) with chips (thick fries) was good. I like the flavor of the curry sauce here. Ordering the extra curry sauce to dip anything (fries, fried fish) in is worth it. The patio is nice to eat in as the wind wasn't strong though they did have fans running to offset the heat. At 6pm, the sun was fierce, and there isn't any shade. The staff was attentive and refilled our waters consistently. There is a single female and single male restroom. My wife saw someone's review on FB so we had to check them out. Came during the World Cup match Canada VS Morocco on July 4th weekend. We got lucky, as we walked in staff was in the middle of cleaning off a table inside. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Our waiter recommended the Haddock and it did not disappoint. We expected mostly batter at the tips of the fish but it was fish in every bite! The kiddos enjoyed the fish fingers and fries as well. Everything came out hot and fresh. Pub style inside with a bar in the middle. Huge portion. I ordered the lunch Cod and my friend got the lunch Haddock. Both were good the cod is softer and flakes apart easily, while the haddock stays together more and has a slightly "catfish-like" texture. Just depends on what you like, but both were tasty. Portions are huge for the price. The fries were thick and crispy, and the baked beans were a nice touch on the side. Service was l fine, I didn't have any issues. Cod and chips were delicious and the my favorite is the TOFFEE CAKE!!! I would come back just for the toffee cake alone! Prices were a little higher than your typical casual dining but the cod was fresh. We had a weeknight dinner on Wednesday and it was reasonably crowded. Service took a little long, including waving down the waiter and getting utensils but I think this is just a staffing issue. Our waiter is nice when he was present. Parking is plenty in front of the restaurant but I can see how it can get crowded along the Boardwalk. I will be back and can't wait to try other things on the menu! read more

I was influenced to try this place, and it lived up to the hype. I absolutely love eggs and will drive quite a distance for Scotch eggs. Their version is jammy in the center and pretty good. The mac and cheese was nostalgic for me, but I'd try something else next time. I was influenced to get the side of curry sauce for the Fish and Chips, and it took it up another notch. The fries were really good. The customer service was nice. I feel like the tables should be rearranged for better flow, and they have outdoor seating. It was a chilly day and steady busy. This was a review from a few weeks ago on my trip to the Kemah area. Once I wrapped up with my event I decided to take a trip to a place I have been looking forward when I had an opportunity. This was that time. It was none other than: Fish and Chips Houston. From my recollection I knew the restaurant was located close to the boardwalk and I'd pass it up on the way there. Very pub like in its decor but still gives a local bar atmosphere for those nearby. I came for one thing and that was the fish and chips. In addition, I wanted to give the haggis a try as well. Finally to wrap up the meal, was the sticky toffee pudding. The fish choices were either cod or haddock and decided to stick with cod. The filet is a nice size which definitely was as big as the plate but also with thick cut chips (fries). Personally I enjoy it with tartar but also the malt vinegar. Nice crispy texture outside but also very delicate on the inside. The haggis was something I have tried before at other places so I was not coming in blind. Haggis is sheep's intestine with spices and on first bite, this would be very similar to how boudin is made and has that same texture. Unique but definitely the spices masked that games taste I have come across before. But the surprising choice was definitely the sticky toffee pudding. For me, I'm not a huge fan of toffee because of the hardened texture whenever I come across it. But this was not it, with the creamed poured on top, made this delicious, creamy and digging in for more. Overall this was a great visit to Fish and Chips Houston. The service was great and our bartender was consistently checking on us and with the refills too. I had high hopes and this made my day. I left satisfied and filled my fish and chips cravings. One thing that is unfortunately an issue is the distance. I love that it is close to Kemah but coming from the city a bit of a drive. But I do recommend it if you are around the area. And you can't skip on the sticky toffee pudding. read more

My husband and I just visited Fish & Chips Houston for a late lunch, it's a pub with dining tables, place is very cool, sporty soccer vibes, cold beers and great music. Staff is friendly and helpful. We started with a Scotch egg, it came pretty quick, I loved it! So this is basically a boiled egg wrapped in pork sausage meat, then coated in seasoned breadcrumbs, and fried to perfection, the yolk was jammy, the sausage had a great flavor, and the coating was so crispy, came with a velvety mustardy mayonnaise sooo good! Then we had the Shepherd's pie, this is a big dish, it's ground lamb and veggies topped with mashed potatoes, baked until golden, great flavor of the lamb, it was very tasty! I stopped in here last night at the recommendation of the bartender at my hotel. I definitely was not disappointed. The bartender was super friendly & took my order quickly. I got a half order of the fish (haddock) & chips with a side of brown gravy. The food came out very quickly and looked cooked to perfection.. and it was. The breading was light & flavorful and actually stuck to fish! Most places the breading tends to slide off, I'm guessing due to the oil. The fish itself was light & flaky and had a great taste - I preferred it to the normal cod I get. The fries were awesome as well & cooked just right and the light gravy was seasoned perfectly and added the right touch. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. He saw the flags posted outside and he hoped to get an authentic fish and chips and we have not been disappointed since .. When I am in the area , we make it a point to visit. The atmosphere is great , you can catch a soccer or football game and all the waiters I have encountered have been great . This place truly exceeded my expectations. The hot tea was perfect, and the steak pie was amazing; the puff pastry was incredibly crispy, while the steak inside was very flavorful. My friend ordered the haddock, which looked fresh and crispy as well! We finished our meal with the only dessert they offer--a toffee cake--and it was absolutely delicious. Worth the drive! We were looking for a new British pub to visit. It's far from us but we were there for a birthday celebration. There isn't much parking out front but there is a lot across the street. The staff was friendly and attentive. We made a reservation since we were a large party. I got to try the fish and chips which was a great size and flaky. As an appetizer we had the chips with curry sauce. I had the steak pie which was filling, just a heads up that there's no vegetables inside just meat. The battered sausage was also good. I also enjoyed the sticky pudding. My apologies...I forgot to take pictures. Let me see if I can explain the experience and food that we had today. Firstly, I love Scotch Eggs and the last one I had was at The Renaissance Festival. That one was not the real deal but the one I had today definitely is the real deal! They use British sausage which is way different than Jimmy Dean pan sausage, and the egg in the center was perfectly cooked. To top it off, they serve it with a homemade dipping sauce, not remoulade but something much lighter, not too sweet and compliments the dish perfectly. Next, my husband and I both ordered the Cod Fish and Chips. I had the half order and could not finish it. He ate all of his fish but left a few chips (hand cut French fries). The fish came out hot and crispy. Perfect! I ordered a side of homemade coleslaw which was my least favorite; too much mayo... Anyway, do not sleep on the curry gravy to dip the chips in. It is delightful. The atmosphere was very casual. I mean, it is a bar after all but our waitress, Avery and the owners were attentive and friendly. I think they really care about their restaurant and their diners. We will definitely be back as there are other items I want to try. Took my girlfriend here last weekend for lunch. Perfect choice for a rainy day too. I got the Cod fish and chips and she got the shrimp and chips. We also got the chips and gravy. ALL the food was incredible. The shrimp was large and crispy. The cod was also baked and super golden crisp, not soggy. The wait staff was great and I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with the owner Craig. He was going around talking to customers and having conversation. Really great guy. This place is just always fantastic. Sure, I would love a wall of IPA selections, but the real reason to come here is the food, which is served in a clean and friendly atmosphere. It's also very telling when more than half the guests sound like David Beckham or Russell Brand ... Sort of like when I lived in NJ and knew that a BBQ or Tex-Mex joint had to be good if other patrons were wearing Texas Rangers caps or bigass tater chip-shaped belt buckles. We decided that Fish and Chips Houston would be our final meal for 2023, and it was so cool to see the place packed -- early. Our food, as usual, was outstanding.
