I've been wanting to try this place for some time now and finally got a chance. Though I am a bit sadden by it. Definitely a place to order in prior as it took almost 30 minutes for me to receive my to go order. The menu looked great, many different options, the looked and sounded great. It was an order for 3 ppl who had never tried it before. We got 2 crazy burgers which is their double burger and 1 buffalo wrap. I was a bit disappointed in both. Could have been I came in about a hour before closing and by the looks of things they were already starting to shutdown for the day as there weren't many ppl inside. The meat to bun ratio was off, the bun didn't last but a couple of bites and started getting soggy and sliding off the burger into a hot mess, I even had cut the burger in halves. And the buffalo wrap didn't have but just a small hint of buffalo sauce, so basically felt like I was eating a dry chicken wrap. I would say I would try again just because I have seen others rave about it, but maybe a single burger, but again I have heard ratio flips on this too be too much bread to meat ratio. As for flavor nothing popped for me, maybe too much on the crazy burger is not what is need and needs to be a bit more simpler. read more

WOW!!! The food here is sooo good! I had the bacon avocado burger and buffalo chicken wrap. Best I have ever had. Burger patty seasoned perfectly and topped with fresh veggies and crispy bacon. JLB Eatery Friendswood is delicious and the employees are really nice. They have a variety of tasty American food options for low prices. I ordered wings, they were spicy with just the right amount of tang for a buffalo sauce. The fries were fried perfectly and had some light seasoning on them. The side salad that came with the meal had fresh veggies that looked like they were straight from the farmer's market. JLB Eatery reminds me of old school casual restaurants from the 90s, but the best version of this type of place. I'm not in Friendswood often but I would definitely stop here again if I was, and I am looking forward to trying other JLB Eatery locations in the future. read more

Just left JBL and it was going to be the 1st time we've visited. We arrived at 7:15 and were promptly told upon entering that they are only taking to go orders even though they don't close until 8:00. A little odd and would probably keep us from returning. There are plenty of places to get a good burger. Not very customer friendly IMO read more

**Tip Shaming Alert** Though this place felt like a mom and pop operation -- perhaps because of its location in a strip mall, lack of branding on cups and the kitschy laminated menu at the counter -- but there appears to be numerous locations throughout the greater Houston area. The atmosphere and service here also made it feel like a homegrown business. Laminate counter- and tabletops, a variety of Magnolia-esque decor and nine tables fill this clean, small spot. Ordering happens at the register here and the customer service was good. The young lady taking our order was new, and she was assisted by someone whom I assume was the manager and/or owner. We let them know that we were first-timers, and they let us know what was popular (and why). Very nice. Without a doubt, the best thing about the burgers here is the bread. The restaurant makes claim that it is baked fresh daily in-house, and the fluffy consistency and rich flavor confirms that. This might be the best bread that I've had with a burger in quite a while! The burger itself though... While it appeared to be course ground, there was really no juiciness. This place advertises that it uses Black Angus to make the burgers. Either they use an 11 percent fat ratio (or lower), or someone left mine on the grill a little too long. The flavor was good, albeit over-salted. The London-style catfish fillet was superbly prepared. Crisp batter. Very clean and flaky fish. I initially believed that they really should be using cod or pollock, as did another patron that I overheard. But, I was wrong. This is good stuff. Fries here are served hot and crisp. Beverages here come from the self-serve fountain and are of the PepsiCo brand. Overall, a good experience with freshly prepared food. **Tip Shaming Alert** The practice of tip shaming has become more prevalent over the past few years. It essentially involves an option at the point-of-sale to tip or not tip -- while the employee is right there looking at you. First, gratuities have traditionally been offered *after* the meal. Further, gratuities are traditionally intended for servers whose hourly wage is much less than other restaurant employees. I am hardly 'Mr. Pink' (Google "Reservoir Dogs") when it comes to tipping. But it is quite presumptuous to *ask* for a tip. read more

The food here is pretty good. But the service and hours are not great. They say it closes at 8. That's not true. They should really say they close at 7 pretty much. We got a bit irritated several months ago when we went and at 715 they tried to say we could only order to go. So we had not been back. Tried to give it another try. I figured if we got there before 645 surely we would have no issues. We ordered at the counter, tipped as they do the tip shaming screen flip, and got our cups. She then says if you can please sit on this side of the restaurant because we are closing the other side (the longest row of booths). So I picked one of the two tables in the middle. A few minutes later she comes to ask if we can please move to the side (the side of the restaurant that only has 2 booths). She rudely says I did ask you to sit on this side because we're closing the other side. She tied to justify it that they're a small mom and pop business and they are trying to close (it was a full hour before close) .... That is all the more reason to treat your customers well right? If you're a counter service place that is supposedly open til 8 pm, don't try closing your dining room down to two tables by 7 pm. Thats absurd. Just close for dinner at this point because you're not trying to serve dinner, period. We've given our chances. We won't be back anymore. read more

When this was first put in next to Kroger, I had really high hopes as I had heard the quality of meat would be better than your average burger joint. The prices also seemed lower. But unfortunately I wasn't blown away with the quality of food . Their food is just a grease trap and although maybe a little cheaper there are just so many better options literally around the corner . " Locals " and " 1895" just to name a few . Ate at the Friendswood location 4/17 for dinner at 6:30p. Food was OK, but service was not good. The young lady working the counter was sweeping floors and cleaning the dining area while not busy. She rolled up two floor mats (counter and drink station) and banged them against the floor to get the dirt out, leaving them rolled up against the wall - all of this without wearing gloves. When our order came from the kitchen and was placed on the counter for her to deliver to our table, she placed her broom aside, grabbed the baskets and brought them to us. I wanted to scream at her to go wash her hands, but if she's operating this way (and also training a newbie at the same time!), then she's probably not going to take my comment in a positive way. read more

I had the chance to eat a burger from here during a work luncheon that won me over instantly. The fresh baked hamburger buns are to die for. They are so soft and delectable. On to the food. JLB Cheese Burger. 9/10 1 Certified Angus Beef patty, mayonnaise, cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and onions on a fresh baked bun. The burger was great, the veggies were crisp and fresh. The bun was like wow. So good. Crazy Burger. 9/10 2 Certigied Angus Beef patties, 2 Slices Cheese, Mayo, Lettuce, Pickles, Bacon. Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, and Thousand Island Dressing. Ok, the burger was better than the first burger I had but the first one was still great. With the two patties it was quite monstrous. Loved the crispy char on the edges of the burger. The food and service were equally great, and I plan to return and try more menu items. The interior is small, but it is clean and has adequate seating. The service was excellent. The cashier/manager was very welcoming and offered recommendations for food. Additionally, she offered several different types of salad dressing and sauces for the fish. I ordered the cajun-style fish. It was excellent. The fish n' chips I eat are hit or miss, and this is definitely a hit! The batter was crispy and seasoned. The fish was soft and flaky. Paired with the tartar sauce, I was a happy camper. The fries/chips are equally excellent. They were the perfect level of crispy, had good flavor, and were a great complement to the fish. The same can be said for the hush puppy, which I wish I had more of. The slice of bread was fluffy and light, and you can tell they're not lying when they say it is made fresh.
