Mom and I were in town for a bowling tournament and went to eat at this place based on their Yelp rating. Was pleasantly surprised to see that when I checked in I got a free cup of soup or a 16 oz margarita. I opted For the soup which was delicious. We split a trio of Mahi, crab cake and shrimp which was good (though the Mahi was a little dry). The shaved brussel sprouts were very tasty as were the sweet potato tots. read more

Upset that this was a bad experience. Service started out bad, then just got worse, as we were treated with an very I don't care attitude. No salads, soups or appetizers ordered received before the meal. Meal came out, and then they told us they were out of the meatloaf special, and had been for several days. The kitchen blamed the server, the server blamed the kitchen....finally ended up ordering a burger. Server then went MIA. Had to beg for the bill from the manager. My husbands grouper tacos were pathetic, a small piece of fish with the toppings on the side. Just overall very bad night, which was supposed to be fun as we had family in town. This was our first visit to the Fish Camp and we will definitely be back the next time we are in the area. The steamed clams in the scampi sauce were delicious as was the fish fry haddock meal. Chef Troy's scampi sauce is amazing and the haddock was lightly battered just the way we like it. The fries were a grade above a regular fry. We asked our server his recommendation on a craft beer and was delighted with the light taste of the Beach Hippie LPA that he suggested. We couldn't leave without trying the key lime pie and it did not disappoint. Our server, Ayden, was top notch and very friendly , accommodating and knowledgeable. We enjoyed chatting with the new owners and seeing how hard they are working to make sure their patrons are well looked after. We were lucky enough to get a seat on the outside deck on a very busy afternoon and the scenery is beautiful. Watching the pontoon boats coming and going in the lake was something to see. There was also a crocodile floating nearby and various size turtles sunning themselves on rocks next to where we were sitting. Overall this was a great way to spend an afternoon and would do it all over again tomorrow if we could. read more

Another place that I have no fair idea how to review. The Thursday steak night was our choice. I'm impressed how nicely they managed a medium rare with such a thin steak. The fries and fried green tomatoes were good. Same goes for the onion rings. I will say that the margaritas were probably the worst I've had. View of the water is okay, but it's set off from the lake and the run down motel next door isn't doing the ambiance any favors. But hey, it's a fish camp. We were looking for someplace close to my father in law for a low key Thanksgiving dinner. We were able to easily make reservations online and they were kind enough to change the times for us when we called. Our server Stacy was AMAZING. She was super pleasant (especially for working on Thanksgiving), helpful with questions about the menu and anticipated everything we could need. I also love a server who​ never goes into the kitchen empty handed. We all opted for the Thanksgiving Deep Fried Turkey Dinner ($15.99) it came with a salad of local greens or kale Caesar, we had Caesar​ and it had​d a​ ​wonderful texture and lots of flavor. The entree came with garlic sauteed local mushrooms, stuffing, mashed potatoes and a big chunk of cornbread​. Aside from maybe needing a little more gravy,​ it was really good. For dessert,​ I had the Caramel Bacon Cheesecake. It was INSANE! The cheesecake was huge portion, light and creamy topped with caramel and a pile of crisp smokey bacon​ pieces. We were in the Mount Dora area for a wedding. Found Fish Camp on the app as a good seafood joint. Made a 6pm reservation for our party of 7. We were amicably greeted and seated promptly at 6. Place was getting busy. Our server promptly came and took our beverage orders - it took quite a while for our iced teas and waters to arrive. We placed our dinner orders. 2 fried pollock specials, 3 shrimp n grits, 1 peel n eat shrimp and I had a crab cake and peel and eat shrimp. The entrees arrived quickly. Two gents had the pollock, generous portion! I tried a piece and found it to be a nice breading but the fish was kind of dark and somewhat rubbery. I thought pollock was whiter and flakier than what was served. One diner had asked for some hush puppies (we were all surprised that none came with entrees) - Server said she'd bring some. They didn't arrive with entrees. He asked a second time and she apologized n said she'd bring them - never happened. The shrimp n grits received mixed reviews. The grits were thick and cheesy, shrimp were small. All three diners left majority of the grits on their plates. My "pure crab" cake was large, but not very good. Having lived in Baltimore for a few years, I know what a good crab cake is - or isn't. This was primarily minced claw meat. Advertised as using McCormcks seafood seasoning. Whatever it was, it had a strange taste vs Old Bay that is the norm. The sauce that came with the crab cake, whatever it was, wasn't good. The other part of my dinner was peel n eat shrimp which were delicious! The fake drawn butter was disappointing. We weren't asked if we wanted dessert. Overall - a 2 star establishment! read more

Three of us chose Saturday special of shrimp prepared as you preferred. Two opted for fried and I selected grilled. Nicely seasoned with choice of three sides. Clam chowder was yummy, onion rings were crunchy, and hush puppies were tasty too. The fourth member of our group had the three shrimp tacos meal with one side. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Food and service were a 5, but half a point deducted for noisy cars on the main road next to the restaurant. Place was packed by the time we finished.
