Whenever I eat at a Fish District I always get the same thing. I love the blackened Ahi bowl with the wasabi dressing it's so delicious. I love how it's the perfect amount of seasoning on the fish. It's a simple bowl with rice and lettuce plus I add avocado. You know I love my craft beers and they have a few on tap but unfortunately I haven't had any at this location yet. My favorite calamari it has a thin layer of crunch and tender juicy calamari underneath. the seasoning used compliments the squid very well and allows the natural flavor of squid to shine through. Been going here for a while now but finally writing a review for a place that is well worth 5 stars! Service here is always great! The staffs are very attentive and will ask if there's anything they can do for us after bringing out the food. So the system here isn't like other restaurants. After walking in you will be asked to pay first, then after choosing a desired table, they will bring the food out to you! I usually order the fish and chips which seem to be the most popular dish here, but today I felt like switching it up so I ended getting the plate with shrimp. The shrimp was so flavorful but sweet with a hint or butter and garlic (I think?), and there are many other options for the sides but I ended up getting the fries and the sautéed vegetables and they both did not disappoint! Although the side dishes stay the same, the main protein switches up occasionally as the catch of the day differs depending on when you go in! As for the price, i would say that it is reasonable but it definitely isn't on the cheap side since they do mainly serve seafood. There are plenty of outside seating and inside. Ordered poke chips with a mix of salmon and ahi with spicy sauce for $10. Hands down the most meager and smallest portion of poke I've ever been served!! It was like the equivalent of one of those baby/kids cups that baskin Robbins serves. And the little handful of chips....lol the chips were all completely stale! Clam chowder fries were good but I'm not too sure if they go well together. It was an interesting idea but I didn't think they meshed well together. Clam chowder by itself had great flavor. $12 Coastal Swordfish Wrap is about the best thing I've had for dinner in the last month. Torn between that and the Mahi Mahi, which was also catch of the day. Save yourself some time- just stick to the Coastal style tacos and wraps with purple cabbage, mangoes, serranos and more. Decent selection of craft drafts are still just $6. And the amazing Bread Pudding pushes the experience out to the stratosphere! Family devoured it, but I had the best bite with a pecan in it...delish! I did not have high hopes for this place as it doesn't have the pretentious feel of most high end seafood restaurants, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I got the catch of the day plate with seared tuna, asparagus, and rice. The tuna was beautifully seared with pink on the inside - which I've found usually only sit down restaurants will sear like this - normally more fast food type/order at the counter places cook the tuna all the way through which is NOT how seared tuna should be. They did a great job searing and seasoning (some spices including old bay) the tuna. I ordered the teriyaki sauce on the side in case I didn't like it, but I ended up slathering it all over the tuna. The asparagus is worth the $1 upgrade. Large charred pieces- exactly how I prepare it myself. My boyfriend got the portobello wrap which was surprisingly large and filling. The tartar sauce really completes the wrap - which I never would have thought to pair. He said it was like a filet o fish. Everything felt/tasted really fresh and flavorful. Came here quite a lot on Sunday's for lunch. They have a nice inside and also a spacious outside patio area for a bigger party to sit together. I really love their fries here. They are slightly battered, really crispy and so yummy! Their fish is also really delicious! Their kids meals are an excellent deal that comes with a side and a drink! The portions are huge too. My cousin got the popcorn shrimp and it looked like a full size meal. I had to try their poke bowl, it was good, but nothing special to me ... the fish was quality and everything was fresh, but disclaimer, I am from Hawaii so no poke bowl has ever met up to my expectations. As a pescatarian, I'm super thankful for this spot! The food is pretty solid although not amazing. I ordered the kale and salmon bowl and found it generally needed to be more savory as it was pretty sweet. But my boyfriend ordered the fish and chips and was given an extra piece of fish which was great! He did mention some of the batter was underdone which is unfortunate but he did enjoy the fish. The highlight for both of us was the clam chowder. We will definitely be coming back for that sometime soon. Nice to find a cool seafood place in Carmel mountain. It has many different seafood options including poke bowl, fish taco, plates or salad options. I decided to try out one of their popular items on the menu, the mahi-mahi coastal wrap with a side of chips and salsa. The wrap was great! The mahi-mahi was perfect with the cabbage slaw and the mango salsa with a bit of spicy from serrano pepper. The wrap was pretty big and definitely filled me up good. I would definitely come back again for coastal wrap! However, I would skip the side of chips and salsa. It was very disappointing. The chips were cold and hard with so-so salsa. Ordered two 3 piece Classic Fish & Chips to go & to share with my wife and her 102 year old mother for Mother's Day. The Alaskan Cod was excellent. The batter was very tasty and the fish, being a white fish, was bland as to be expected with white fish. Not complaining, just stating a fact. The fish was very well prepared and will visit again. Never disappointing. This is one of those few rare places where if you're not sure what you want, you can just pick something at random and it's still good. The biggest draw isn't even the food, it's the sodas. If they ever changed their soda vendor I'd probably go else where but right now it's the only place that sells cane sugar based sodas in a variety of flavors ( blueberry, ginger, lemon-lime ) that you absolutely won't find anywhere else.
