This is my number 1 favorite spot to eat. This place feels like home. You won't find many salads on the menu however. But there are healthier choices. While in Foley doing some volunteer work, we just happened on the Fish River Grill and sooooo glad we did. I love Gulf shrimp, so I got the fried shrimp - excellent! My daughter got the Crawfish pistol - oh wow!!! And the Gator tail was THE best we've ever had - east coast or gulf coast. The Swamp soup was awesome. My family and I just had lunch here. We were all pleased all around. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was wonderful. They brought us a cup of swamp soup. I think it's similar to a dish my German mother in law makes called grunkelesson(not sure of spelling). Then a slice of cake after the meal. I had he shrimp Poboy with the crawfish sauce. It was wonderful and I don't think I will need to eat the rest of the day. The rest of the family really spoke highly of their meals. I swiped one of my wife's hush puppies from her plate, and it was awesome as well. Nice atmosphere. Reminds me of the fish places from where I grew up in south Arkansas. Looking for a local place and saw the sign that said "where the locals eat". So we stoped in to the Fish River Grill #3 at 1545 Gulf Shores Parkway. Nice and clean place with a local flair. We had the shrimp, swamp soup, tuna fish dip and a sweet thing (beignet). The food was great!!! Owner server Terri was also great. We didn't need a thing. The reason for a 4 Star and not a 5 was because of the size of the shrimp. They were good but very small. Should of used the Reds. I would still go back and eat more of the swamp soup. read more

We came here for my husbands birthday because he wanted Catfish. The food was ok but our service was so bad it made the whole experience a fail. We waited 45 minutes and had to retrieve our own drinks.Andy was a bad server.She ruined our dinner AND tried to charge us for an extra drink. This used to be a favorite of mine.....Not so much anymore. Food was good, bar waitress was good until I tried to return to the bar with a tip and slipped on some water. NO ONE who worked there came to my aid, they just turned there backs and ignored me and the situation. I did not create a scene, but only got help from one nice gentleman/customer who helped me get up. Shame on Fish River Grill and their staff for not having the compassion to help with the situation! We just returned from a 5 month trip through the Great Lake states and the northeast. I tried the fried whitefish plate up there and it was horrible. I longed for the tasty whitefish from Fish River Grill, so upon our return that was our first restaurant we went to. Just as I remembered, the fish was piping hot, light and flaky, and delicious. Our server was upbeat and efficient. The hush puppies were light and cooked perfectly. This location has just as much charm as the Gulf Shores location. They have big billboards 'where the locals eat'. They are right! The swamp soup does look like the swamp but so tasty. They state the best burgers and mine was great. Seasoned well, juicy, and all the fixings. Yum. The grilled shrimp dinner with all the sides was very flavorful. The service is exceptional. This restaurant is usually good; however, this time I ordered the fried white fish. It was coated in cornmeal batter and I did not like it. The waitress was very nice but she was not allowed to change the fish out for grilled or even allow me to upgrade my meal to include a grilled filet. We were seated and our waitress visited with us and just made us feel welcome. I'm a Gumbo kind of guy and as I was about to order the Gumbo I saw Swamp Soup, what could Swamp Soup be so I ordered it. It came and looked like well a Swamp but it was delicious. If you go here don't pass it up dive in and get a bowl. My second entrée was the Shrimp and Crawdad tail Po Boy with a nice I'll call Remoulade they call it something else. WOW! The gator bites are amazing! I had the whitefish with crawfish cocktail sauce was great tasting. I sampled the frog legs, fried shrimp, and also had their swamp soup! This is an A+ establishment. We were surprised by a slice of red velvet cake. Friendly service and clean facilities make this a must visit place. To top it off we arrived shortly after two bus loads of seniors. I would expect service to be a little slow and staff to be ready for a break, but they never missed a beat. read more

Great place... from the outside it looks like a typical strip mall food place, but it is definitely worth a stop in. They are a bit pricy for their entries, but definitely worth the little bit of extra money. The food was delicious, there were several WOWs and OMGs coming from the table over the food. They had live music, and we were a bit turned off, but it turned out not to be over powering and it was very enjoyable, they played a lot of cover songs and everyone was tapping their feet and singing along. Hats of to the "Three Bean Soup" band. Over all a wonderful dining experience...hope you have one too. read more

Great service! Even though they were slammed when we walked in and it took a few minutes to get seated, it was smooth sailing after that. Ce-Ce took great care of us! She kept our glasses full and checked on us regularly despite her multiple tables. She was a fantastic server! Must try the swamp soup! It's like nothing you've ever had. I promise. The fries, cole slaw and okra are a great accompaniment to the seafood dishes. I would like to note that the entrees are a great size and the sides are not fillers to support a diminutive serving. My teenage son said the Hurricane Burger was amazing! I had the shrimp platter and my husband had the catfish. Very good - and you could taste that it was FRESH. Other than an out of control toddler beside us, the atmosphere was very enjoyable. This was our first time at Fish River and first time in Gulf Shores.
