I’ve not seen many umbrellas, if any. There are two or three tables inside that work of shade is required. Also, late afternoons as the sun sets in the west, the building casts a shadow on part of the outdoor space.

I'll start by saying EVERYTHING was incredible. From the food down to the service we received. All of the staff we interacted with during our time there were very kind and attentive. For starters, when we arrived, I told our waitress we had a dog and she directed us to a table on their "indoor patio ", so we we're basically sat indoors, which was really nice. We weren't cold at all, and had we been, it looked like they had overhead heaters! We ordered their bread service, the warm trout dip, truffle fries, steak & frites, the burger, mussels/clams, the chocolate tart and creme brûlée. It was all delicious. While eating our appetizers, our poor pup got sick and threw up under the table :( we tried to discreetly clean it and felt really embarrassed. Entrées came out a few minutes later, and while eating our entrées, it happened a second time. At that point, we were ready to ask for the food to go, because we were feeling so thoroughly embarrassed. As I started cleaning the vomit a second time, our kind waitress came over and told me she would take care of it. I apologized repeatedly, and we felt sooo bad. She was so kind, and gracious towards us, telling us it was okay. I never got her name, but I wanted to let her know just how much we really appreciated her assistance and for not making us feel worse about what had happened. The way she handled the situation, was the epitome of dog friendly service. I'm not sure why our pup was so sick at the restaurant. My guess is he may have swallowed some water while playing at the beach. I just really wanted to express my gratitude for you all allowing us to enjoy a nice meal and continuously treating us kindly and respectfully after our poor boy got sick in your restaurant. The chawanmushi didn't have quite the smooth, pudding-like texture I was expecting, but the flavors were really good. The mushrooms, ikura, and subtle hit of yuzu worked really well together. Super popular spot with lots of seating and different seating options, and pretty much everything was full when we went.

It's my favorite thing even tho it's super basic. The dahl was packed full of flavor, eating it was such a delight. I hope someday they'll create a vegan-friendly dessert or even a vegan Mango Lassi. The steak didn't even need any sauces because the seasoning flavor was already there. For dessert we ordered sticky toffee pudding. It was the best Sticky Toffee pudding I've ever had. And perhaps to compensate for the $18 price tag, it was buried in a heap of cole slaw so the sandwich looked huge until you realize how little that crab was. The service was really great though. I can't pinpoint the specific things that happened but it felt like everyone really cared about the restaurant and their guests. I would love to go back there again if the price/value gets better.

You can't beat the view. Our server was well informed about the menu, attentive, and friendly - but unwilling to help too much with the menu selections. "Everything is good" is a bit of a pet peeve of mine but I'm not holding this against the rating of this restaurant as that's pretty server-specific. We started with a half dozen local oysters on the half shell which were actually amazing. Perhaps the most mild tasting oysters I have ever had and served with a champagne mignonette, cocktail sauce, and fresh horseradish - all of which paired nicely. For my main course, I had the petrale sole - a very mild, delicate, Pacific flatfish. While flaky and tender, it did lack flavor and was served with some relatively uninspired accompaniments - a saffron rice and some roasted vegetables which was mostly green beans and celery. One of my friends ordered the paella which he said was "great." Overall very decent experience on par with so many other coastal restaurants that know they can fill the seats with the amazing views alone. I would definitely come back - but would likely order something different... except for the oysters - those were a must to order again!

Of all the food that we ordered, I have to say my favorite was the burrata plate. My least favorite had to be the potatoes or Arrosto, which was unfortunate as I love to eat potatoes. It was just bland and was lacking salt. But I believe this was more of an anomaly as the rest of the food we ordered was perfect as it came. Overall I love this place a lot. To kick this off, I really want to like this place... I've been in twice in the last 3 weeks, once for lunch and once for dinner. Once was at the suggestion of a coworker and the other with friends. The Pros: Super sustainable seafood, location The Cons: Everything else. Lackluster food, cash only, cafeteria style dining (wait in line, pay at register, take a number) On each occasion, someone in my party got the crab roll and this is the only dish that I would recommend to someone else. The unfortunate part about this is that anyone easily make this at home if they chose and given that they charge around $25, it should be a lot more impressive than it is. The mountains of fries that they give out must be to compensate for the fact that they are ripping you off on the rest of the dish. All of the daily specials that we tried left a lot to be desired. They all seemed REALLY overpriced for what they were with little attention to detail and poor presentation. All of the food seemed like tired diner food made with fish that they charged an absurd amount of money for. One of my coworkers had a burger on my first time in and for $14, I expect that the burger that is served is better than one I can get at a fast food restaurant. While they claim that the beef itself is Prather Ranch, it certainly leaves a lot to be desired being served on a ridiculously oversized bun with just lettuce, onion and pickle. It was underseasoned and overcooked, and given that this seemed to be the only non-fish option offered, you would think that they would be capable of doing a good job with this one. I ate a crab louis on my first time in and a tuna melt on my second. Both were ok, with great quality of fish, but for the price paid I felt like I didn't get much. The louis was just iceberg lettuce with a hardboiled egg and dressing with crab on top. The tuna melt was good, but nothing to write home about. All in all, this has been one of my most disappointing dining experiences in relation to price ever. The total lack of service, high prices and being cash only mean that I will never be back in especially for such mediocre food. Save your money for a restaurant that actually understands hospitality and how to prepare food. read more

Very casual, California type eco-aware cafe with a the ambiance of a crusty old Eastern Seaboard dive - come for the food, not the decor inside, but most diners sit at picnic tables outside on the large harbor-side deck to take in the views. It's popular, there is often a long line - 15 deep - of hungry folks willing to wait for the Fresh, local fish served on any given day. (They're open 7days/wk). The grilled catch of the day (wild salmon, farm raised trout, and black cod when we were there recently) is grilled to order and served on a large mixed green salad or sandwich style. If you opt for the mixed green salad, it's fresh, a generous portion & served with a very nice, light vinaigrette. According to the wife, the ceviche was quite good - with plenty of good sized chunks of white fish, lime juice, red onions, grapefruit, cilantro and avocado. The crab parfait was interesting - but the sweet pepper jelly layer made the whole concoction a tad too sweet for my taste. Fish and chips - we could really taste the beer in the beer batter. My wife loves fish tacos, but found Fish's very disappointing - the fish was dry, tasted slightly 'off', and the mango salsa and green sauce served with it didn't help and weren't that tasty either. Served with a mound of shredded cabbage & cilantro - no avocado. The miniature tortillas disintegrated before she could eat the three tiny tacos. Growing up in Marin, I'd heard whispers about Fish being a hidden gem, yet I'd never been there until recently. Tucked away without much street signage, it's a place you need to know about to find. Unlike the well-known spots on Bridgeway, Fish offers a secluded, almost Hawaiian ambiance. It's very casual, perfectly aligned with its straightforward name: Fish. On my visit, even at 3 p.m. on a Wednesday, it was surprisingly busy, which speaks to its popularity. The setting is spacious with ample parking, making it stress-free. The atmosphere is warm, authentic, and kid-friendly, ideal for a laid-back lunch or introducing visitors to local cuisine. The ordering process is straightforward, and the specials are enticing. Despite a slight line, the service was efficient. We shared a sandwich with coleslaw; while the portion sizes were fair and the lemonade delightful, the sandwich itself wasn't to my taste. It was overcooked and lacked the seasoning I prefer, but that's a personal preference. We kicked off a summer weekend at this joint. Got there just before they closed the kitchen (their kitchen closes from 4:30-5:30pm). We saw some sad people come in just after us...poor folks had to wait an hour! This place is pretty casual-- order your food inside, then head outside to one of the wood bench tables. The patio is nice and SUNNY (no umbrellas that we saw), and great view of the harbor. The water is rightthere. And that view is built into your food price. We ordered two things: the fatty (fish&chips) and the skinny (grilled fish w/salad). The rundown: *The fish & chips (halibut) were tasty, 3 pieces ($23), batter made with anchor steam beer but one was kinda dinky looking, a bit soggy too. I'll attribute it to our being the last one to order prior to the kitchen closing. *Grilled Fish (cod, i think, $20-ish) was simply seasoned, tender and the meat just melted in my mouth. Fish Sausalito is hands down my favorite seafood restaurant in the Bay Area. I can't get enough of their delicious linguini with clams - it's a classic dish that never disappoints. The whole clams are perfectly prepared and served over housemade organic egg pasta with a touch of garlic, olive oil, red chile flake, and parsley. Fish Restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants in Sausalito. I recommended it to my friends visiting from another state, and they loved it. Food: Clam Chowder (5/5): We ordered a bowl of clam chowder, and the portion was generous enough to share among the three of us, even though we ordered two more dishes. There's plenty of seafood in the chowder. They offer both white and red options, but I prefer the white chowder. Fish and Chips (5/5): The fish and chips arrived at our table fresh and hot, with three pieces of fish and potato wedges. I highly recommend this dish. Crispy Pork Bao (5/5): I believe this is a new dish, as I didn't notice it when I visited about a year ago. It comes with three bao, and the pork was juicy. Order: You order at the cashier, then find a seat. When your food is ready, the server will call your name. Parking: There's plenty of parking next to the restaurant. I often bike here from Mill Valley with my family for lunch. We always have a great time here, but it does get crowded and there is often a long wait in line. It's a special spot on the dock and offers amazing, consistently good fresh fish dishes. My kids always have the fish sticks or the grilled cheese sandwich and I always seem to end up getting my favorite, their Saigon Salmon Sandwich. The jalapeno, cilantro and ginger marinade add incredible flavor to this satisfying sandwich. My husband loves the fish ceviche and reminds him of his time spent in Costa Rica.. We've also had the tuscan bean salad which is good and of course, the fish and chips. We love sitting outside on a sunny day. They have a good selection of beers on draught and some decent wines by the glass. My kids love the lemonade which comes served in small mason jars -- neat touch. They don't take credit cards, but do have an ATM. You'll need lots of cash as it is pricey, but worth it! read more

Fantastic place, great food and healthy sustainable choices. Sit on the patio, have a crab roll and a glass of wine, enjoy the view and call yourself lucky. Last visit was Fish and Chips, (the Halibut is kick a**), and a pint of Chau Tien. This time we had Saigon Salmon Sandwich, Taco Plate, Both kinds of Chowders and bottle of featured wine. The Saigon is to die for. Stunningly fresh wild salmon, (hence the price) amazing flavors and served with a large side of organic salad greens. Taco plate had great sauces and hit the mark on freshness and not too filling. The White Chowder is more traditional, chunks of potato, clam and bacon but no thickeners used so it's not gross. The Red Chowder is surprising in that it has linguica and is a little bit spicy - ggrrr - stomach beginning to growl thinking about it. Great recommendation on the wine didn't hurt a bit. Yes it is cash only, but so are three of the other nearby restaurants. Glad the ATM is there. read more

We recently visited a fish market restaurant in Sausalito, a lovely coastal town with beautiful bay views. The setting was absolutely charming and the ambiance really made for a relaxing meal. Now, the food itself had some real highlights. The white chowder and the Dungeness crab bun were absolutely fantastic--on those two dishes alone, I'd easily give a five-star rating. However, there were a couple of letdowns. Despite the menu describing "shoestring fries," what we actually got was more like standard fast-food style fries, which was a bit disappointing given the expectation. On top of that, the service wasn't quite up to par: we asked for an extra plate, and while the server acknowledged it, they never brought it or followed up. All in all, I'd give the place a three out of five. With a bit of improvement in service and accuracy in the menu description, it could easily become a top-tier spot. read more

I live in Sausalito. This restaurant was great when it first opened, but has become extremely bad lately; a huge rip off, the portions are small, greasy, they give you a bunch of white rice or greasy french fries to fill you up because the potions are so small; many of the main courses are just fish farm fish from Mexico; where the fish are fed corn meal at the fish farm so it is very fatty and greasy. If you must go to this awful place, do it on a weekday, where it is a little bit better; as, on the weekends they just rip off the tourists, and know they can get away with it. They make you pay in cash only; probably so they can cheat on their taxes. On the good side; the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We have ripped off at Fish so many times now, it is not funny, this has been a repeat problem for about a year now. The party is over at Fish; adios amigo. read more

Really now, that was about the worst meal I ever had in my life. We saw the place and the outside seating was very nice so we decided to eat there, BIG MISTAKE, VERY EXPENSIVE TO BEGIN WITH $25 a crab sandwich???? I don't mind paying a lot for food if it is good, but come on... Chowder had so much fresh herb that I could not taste anything else, the mussels, YACK, with ham, sausage and mayonese, or... tartar sauce ????? You may as well put ketchup on it, who is the chef there? I cooked for years in Europe and mussels are ease to cook, it was too salty, weird tasting with all the lard family involved and for not being a main dish $18 for few mussels ( by the way about 6 were empty ) it was a lot. FISH. is an excellent restaurant - the food is creative, solid, tasty and generous. If you have a table of friends to share with I highly recommend ordering the whole roasted fish of the day, the crispy perfectly cooked sage brown butter brussels sprouts, an excellent butter bean side dish and a round of fish and chips - DELICIOUS! On a warm summer day the crab louie salad is an excellent lunch after a long bike ride, it is HUGE. The menu changes daily so there is always something new to try. The setting is best if it's a warm day and you can sit outside on the deck and and enjoy the view of the Sausalito docks. The service is always kind, Miguel is especially nice and has been there forever. They have eco conscious fishing practices which I appreciate. I recommend FISH. highly. read more

This place is a little tough to find but well worth it. I heard about this place from one of the guys from Blazing Saddles Bike Rentals. This is in kind of a business park area where you wouldn't expect to find a really good restaurant. They obviously specialize in Fish and they're really good at what they do. The staff is very knowledgeable about what they're doing. Not only do they prepare food, but they also have a really decent deli area where they sell all the fresh fish. If we weren't planning on being on the road with our bikes for another four hours, it would have been nice to pick up some fresh fish there. It had been quite some time since I had had a really good Po-Boy. They have quite an extensive menu and if you like fish, I'm sure you'll find something you like. read more

This place use to be great. Now we are shocked at the level of service, small fish portions, over priced, and rude service. The cashier does not know anything about the menu, we asked for specific instructions for the kids twice, he said yes I got it, and the food came out all wrong and soggy. We tried to make the adjustments that were discussed earlier, and they tried to charge more money. Seriously? It was your error. And to top it off, the worst manager ever, a blond arrogant guy who was supposedly in charge. Tried to explain that the service is going backward, and we were not happy customers, he shook his shoulders and said Thank you as if he does not care. No wonder the reviews are slipping. We will never go back to this horrible restaurant, what a shame. read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I just assumed as the place got more upscale, respected and pricey the ability to use credit cards was coming. Well - I was wrong. Who are they kidding? For an owner who tries to be socially responsible and a leader in the bay area community, i'm not sure what kind of example this restaurant sets? I have been in the restaurant business and I understand when a small diner or cafe charges cash only. I'm sure the IRS probably wouldn't agree, but it can be tough for certain restaurants. For Fish, with the prices they are charging, not taking credit cards is unacceptable. Come one Fish - show some gratitude to your customers and respect for the community - lower your prices and accept credit cards. read more

The Fish seafood place is highly over-rated and does not offer value for money. I ordered the halibut on the menu, which was one of the fresh fish for the day. The dish came with a very thin fillet of halibut on the top with a whole forest of green salad beneath with olive oil and croutons. For $27 they could have served easily a bigger piece of halibut and reduced the bed of salad. It was nothing to write home about. Also, cash only was a bit of a disappointment and we had to wait in a long line of tourists to order like in a fast food place. The white wine they gave us was also mediocre. I have tasted better wine for less price of $9. With the Napa Valley so close by they could have done better in the alcoholic beverage dept, as well. read more

The dishes were a heavy mouthful, but delectable as expected. It feels East Coast West Coast to me in nature, but all pure goodness. The fried fish I had was crispy and tender, and the nachos and poke were fresh and crunchy chipped. We left with tight belts. I'd plan ahead or come prepared to hunt for parking, but it was a fun stop otherwise, especially for a friendly gathering with some solid grub.

Curated furniture are displayed on the first and second floors. We were seated inside, and the views didn't disappoint. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. I ordered a glass of white wine while my partner enjoyed a mimosa. The restaurant doesn't offer a full cocktail bar, but that wasn't an issue for us. The menu offers a great selection, but I already knew what I wanted after browsing it before our reservation. I ordered the whole grilled branzino with grilled broccolini, and my partner chose the lobster roll. Both dishes were beautifully presented. My deboned branzino was cooked perfectly--moist and flaky with just the right amount of crispness on the outside. BEWARE parking is terrible, it's usually crazy packed, and there's a lot of other restaurants and bars around the area which also add to the density. I would recommend this area for adults - couples, friends, older family members. I probably wouldn't recommend this for kids since it's a bit more busy but classy. There's lots of other spots down the street or in Sausalito. That's a bit more accommodating for all ages.

We ordered the Lighthouse omelette, which has mushrooms, ham, onions, and cheese. That tasted amazing! The egg, right when it came out,, looked like it was whipped and fluffy. You could see the glistening of the (maybe butter) in the eggs. Each bite was a creamy and light egg with the mushrooms, onions, and cheese carrying the flavor. They were pretty busy, so sometimes it was hard to get a hold of a waitress, but I know they were trying their best to take care of us! It was cool to see the "Danish connection" with diverse menu items such as the open-faced herring sandwiches. Maybe we can try these next time!
