This is definitely one of the more popular lunch spots in Sausalito, so expect a line -- especially on a sunny weekend. Very casual setup -- you order at the counter first and then find your own seating. Thankfully there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating so finding a table wasn't difficult despite the crowd. They have a standard printed menu along with a pretty extensive list of daily specials. I ordered the squid (one of the fish specials that day) over a Caesar salad and really enjoyed it. Everyone in my group seemed happy with their entrees too. We also ordered an assortment of oysters to share. One note was that the waitress dropped them off did so abruptly without explaining which oysters were which. Overall, the food itself probably won't completely blow you away, but if you're looking for solid seafood with a great ambiance in Sausalito, this is still one of the better options around.

Pretty long line but we took that as a good sign! Oysters were very fresh and good. We got 5 of each type (3 types). The rockfish chorizo style tacos were very good and seasoned well. Only thing disappointing was the "shoe string fries" which were not shoe string and also tasted kind of stale/not fresh. Service was quick and good as well.

First time back after 10+ years. Great lunch soft shell crab in bao delicious, very busy on a weekday at 1:30.

A fish smash burger and crispy fish taco bao buns? Yes, Fish has expanded their menu including a few new fun offerings that we just couldn't resist while in the area on a beautiful weekend evening. Fish in Sausalito is tucked away and has always been a (if ya know ya know) spot for me, although judging by the lines, the secrets been out :) There's parking and interior/exterior seating by the water ~ bringing the kiddo for this trip, we actually sat inside with a highchair. They also have a kiddo menu, and we ordered the best fish stick (and fries) plate. So hearty! For the level of expense each dish is on the menu, we def never leave still hungry. This is a type of spot where you order at the register, grab your number, and find a seat. The service is great (we had a few spills), and it's just a relaxing place to venture to. The fish smashburger comes with two patties of seasoned trout with white American cheese, pickled onions, and house-made tartar sauce. Yum! Very innovative and quite honestly, the first time I've seen smash burgers with fish! And the crispy bao tacos came with Korean buttermilk fried cod in a Kewpie chili sauce with garnish..delicious. Needless to say, we had a lot of fun! Also ordered a cup of the White Chowder to start. All in all, the fish tastes so incredible fresh here from dish to dish. The ambiance is just right. Love the innovative styles of bringing fish to flavorful menu items. A big win in our book for a 'treat yourself' moment.

I've been to Fish a couple of times, and the food, customer service, and ambiance never disappoint. I especially love how family-friendly it is. My usual order is the fish and chips and a clam chowder bowl--they're always so good. This time, we also tried the crab rangoon empanadas and a poke bowl. Everything came out quickly, and we enjoyed our meal with a beautiful view. I really like that they offer both outdoor and indoor seating, which makes the experience even better. Definitely a go-to spot that I'll keep coming back to!

After hearing this place STRONGLY recommended by my son, we stopped by at lunchtime. There was a huge line, but it was worth the 15 minute wait. Everything on the menu has a twist or a special ingredient--we had a hard time choosing. The bao tacos were made with crispy soft shelled crab on soft "bao taco shells", and regular fish tacos were a 10. The Saigon Salmon sandwich was incredibly flavorful, and the rockfish ceviche had a perfect kick. Wish we lived closer.

The wait is always long but that's because the food is that good. They have a regular menu that you can check out while you wait but make sure to look at the specials on the chalk board once you get inside. Everything is good--from the expected fish and chips to ceviche in a sublime kicky mango sauce. It's seafood but with a thoughtful twist, like the trout loaded hot dog or the mussels in a delightful curry sauce. Plates are not skimpy and if it is a nice day you can eat outside at a picnic bench.

Fills the sea spot when in front of sea water view and wanting the taste of the sea! Yummy fish tacos, fish and chips and white clam chowder! Their hot sauce with lime flavor, complemented well with the fish tacos. I adore the water view and a lot of seatings available all over the restaurant in different spaces. Parking was ample. A long line all the time to order the food. Staff was efficient with getting the orders out in a timely manner and friendly. Atmosphere is casual and nice.

Beautiful spot for a lunch with a view.. lots of people agree as the lines are out of the door! Once you order at the counter , find a table and the waiter brings the food. Loved the clam chowder, crab roll.. other items on the table were the Fish hot dog(okay), salmon sandwich( huge dish). Must go for the views and fresh fish!

Fish and Chips

Beautiful spot to eat on the water, but the food was pricey for what we got. Had to get the fish and chips and the fish was not battered properly some parts were soggy and it fell apart easily. The fish itself was fresh tho with good cream of tartar sauce. We also got the fish tacos and there just wasn't much flavor. The outdoor seating was nice just maybe didn't pick the right dishes.

Tuna melt with coleslaw

I have eaten here probably 20-30 times and it never disappoints. Seriously. I do not exaggerate. It's Fish. So fresh and so good.... Allow me to explain. The setting: Sausalito on the Bay is a short ferry boat ride across from the SF Ferry Building or the first exit when driving over the Golden Gate Bridge. Fish sits along the waterfront near a marina filled with beautiful boats and a wondrous view of Belvedere and Angel Island. It feels like it was once an old fish hut or a bait shack in its former days. They have a fantastic outdoor patio with seating, and a cozy back room filled with comfy chairs and a book nook. The food: I consistently order the following items, for not because I do not wish to try anything different, but because I love these dishes so much and I cannot get enough of them. The tuna melt is perhaps the finest tuna fish sandwich I have ever had the privilege of knowing. The portion is huge, enough for two people to easily share, served on thick sourdough toast, and with your accompanying side choice of french fries or asian flavored coleslaw. The fish and chips is a proper English style batter with a generous portion that can easily be shared by two or more. Delish. There are two variations of Clam Chowder; a traditional New England style and a red Portuguese stew that is delicious and anything but spicy. Both are good, although I wish this was served in a sourdough bread bowl. For a shared dish, try the kettle chips with the old bay seasoning. So yum. Side note: I have never tried the trout hot dog, which I'm strangely intrigued by, nor have I tried the fish Reuben sandwich. Maybe one day.... They also have a crab Louie salad that looks amazing. They have a few beer and wine offerings. The staff are accommodating and friendly. The prices are fair for the quality and freshness of the product. Fish. A must visit for any traveler to San Francisco or Marin County.

Always yummy food at fish. Came in with a group of coworkers on a rainy April day. Place was packed as usual. Have to order a cup of clam chowder whenever I come here. And fot the fish and chips. Biggest pieces of fish and chip you will ever see. I do wish that I would've been able to sub for string fries vs potato wedges. Coworkers ordered fhe bao tacos and salmon burger.

Soft shell crab bao
Farah A.

What a great find!! Fantastic food, and great location right near the water. Not far from downtown but away from the crowds. For starters we had guac and chips which was particularly good, and the crab Rangoon empanadas which were fantastic. I had the soft shell crab bao bun which was pillowy and savory and just right!!!! Our party also had the fish and chips, and the crab roll which was noted as best he'd ever had Beer and wine only with a variety of local options.

This is definitely on the more expensive side, but for a special lunch or a first-time visit, we felt it was worth it. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the location made for a memorable experience. The only service issue we experienced was at the beginning of our meal. It took approximately 15-20 minutes before we received water, and guest ( they knew pretty well ) arrived after us appeared to be served immediately by 3 different servants with water and wine. We felt a bit overlooked and unwelcomed during that time. However, I do want to give credit to our waiter, who recognized the delay and apologized, which we appreciated. One additional surprise was being charged $2 for hot water with lemon. As someone who does not drink iced water, I often order hot water with lemon and have never been charged for it before. On a lunch bill approaching $150, that charge felt unnecessary and a little unwelcoming. It certainly wasn't about the $2 itself, but rather the principle of it. That said, the food and overall experience were excellent. I would not take any stars away because this place is truly a gem with delicious food, gorgeous views, and a welcoming outdoor dining area for guests with dogs. Highly recommended, especially for visitors looking for a memorable waterfront dining experience in Sausalito.

Our server apologized several times for the long wait, and that genuinely made a difference. She was attentive, checked in on us, and even brought out warm bread and butter to help make up for the delay. Her efforts did not go unnoticed and were appreciated. That said, the delay wasn't her fault. The issue falls on the kitchen, FOH management, and/or the GM. On a major dining weekend like Father's Day, service and execution should be a priority. If you know it's going to be a busy holiday weekend, staffing, preparation, and ticket times need to be managed accordingly. We've been waiting over an hour for our entrees, and while we're fortunately not in a rush, that's simply too long given how empty the restaurant appeared. The food itself seems to be good, but the wait time is ridiculous and takes away from the overall experience. I would only recommend Salito's if you have plenty of time and aren't in a hurry. If you're looking for a quick or efficient dining experience, you may want to look elsewhere. The server did what she could to make the situation better, but ultimately the kitchen and management let her down.

When we entered the restaurant we were warmly greeted. We studies the menu you on the wall before ordering. You order at the counter and then they give you a number to put on your table. When your food is ready, hey deliver it to your table. Both my husband and I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie chicken plate. You have a choice of a salsa verde or romanesco sauce to go with your chicken or pay an extra $1 for both sauces. I chose the both sauces and my husband chose the salsa verde. We also ordered a cup of the cream of asparagus soup, a side of cabbage and kale slaw and a straus creamery chocolate milkshake. The inside is spacious and has a lot of communal seating as well as smaller tables. They have seating on the deck by the water as well. We picked a table and enjoyed our view of the ocean while we waited for our food. Our food arrived hot and fresh. Everything looked so good. The cream of asparagus soup was my favorite of the whole meal. It tasted so good. Next time I'll opt for the bowl instead of the cup. The rotisserie chicken was hot and juicy. I'm guessing they give you the sauce because the chicken doesn't have much seasoning on it. I tried both sauces and didn't care for either one. The salsa verde did not taste good at all. It definitely didn't taste like any salsa verde I've had before. The romanesco sauce had no flavor. It was thick and pasty but tasted like nothing. I should have just added salt to my chicken. I ate the chicken regardless and it was good. It just needed some seasoning on it. Each chicken plate came with salad on the side, which was very good and roasted potatoes. The potatoes were amazing. My husband liked the cabbage and kale slaw and loved his chocolate milkshake. Service was very good here. They bussed our table for us when we were finished. I'd definitely come back again but I would try one of their many sandwich offerings.

Got there around 3pm and was told that a table for two would be about a 30 minute wait, so it was not as bad as we thought it would be, considering that the whole parking lot (which was probably the only downside; it being made of gravel and without distinct parking designations making finding a spot incredible difficult and annoying) was full. The inside vibe was great, with tons of people drinking/eating and having a good time. When we got seated, we ended up ordering just a few oysters and a 3pc fish and chips. The oysters were pretty good and fresh, with a great vinaigrette on the side to pair with them. The fish and chips, however, were the obvious stars of the show. The fish were nice and golden, with a very crisp texture, and more importantly large and generous. The fries were nicely seasoned and plentiful. The fish was really tasty (you can choose the type of fish depending on what they have on hand, and some cost extra between $2-$10. We chose the standard option for the day: Rockfish), easily one of the better fish and chips I have had - just an incredibly simple, but well executed dish. While the tartar sauce was a good pairing, the real standout pairing was Hook Fish's own carrot habanero hot sauce with the tartar sauce and the oyster vinaigrette. I have never had something like a carrot based hot sauce, but it really works by contrasting the spiciness of the habanero with a slightly sweet carrot undertone. Strange, but it gave the classic fish and chips a unique twist that sets it apart from the competition. While eating we saw tons of different dishes fly out the kitchen as well, such as poke burritos, large portions of chips and salsa/guacamole, and fish tacos. After the experience we had that day, we will be forsure making another round back to Hook Fish to try some of their other options. Their fish and chips are a must.

After reading some reviews here I knew it was a small place, so I was pleasantly surprised I could get a reservation during our trip to Sausalito. My husband and I had recently enjoyed some caviar for the first time but we are no experts, and I was a little worried that he might not get enough to eat. Turns out we both left perfectly satisfied. The place is tiny but so elegant. The bar is right in front of the kitchen that is sparkling clean and the chef prepares everything right there. There is a little high top table too and there was a couple there when we arrived, but afterward it was just us and we felt like royalty treated to our private dinner. We aren't caviar experts by any means but Yo did a great job explaining the different caviar flights including where it comes from - turns out the white sturgeon is farmed in the Sacramento Delta. We chose the Menage a Trois white sturgeon flight and it was so elegant. Three kinds of caviar plus all these homemade breads and crackers to enjoy it with. Every bite was amazing and I think we only left a couple of chives. Afterward we picked a couple of other dishes - the Chawanamushi and the Dungeness crab ravioli. Both were exquisite- in flavor and presentation. For dessert we had the sweet potato - Yo described it as a ganache - which I couldn't really picture but it was a very accurate description. It came with asian pear and was just the perfect finish to our meal. I had a couple glasses of French bubbly with my meal - normally I can't do more than one glass of champagne but it was crisp and yummy and paired well with everything we ate. When we were finished we got our check in a cute sturgeon pulp science fiction book. It was the final thoughtful detail to a wonderful evening. Chef Lance is a real artist and he really thinks through the ingredients and the flavors. Everything was so delicious and creative. I hope we get to come back again someday.
