My family and I booked the fish whistle because it was close to where my daughter lives. We were celebrating two birthdays. This restaurant was not only clean and pleasing to the eye, but the view to the harbor was breathtaking! I took a picture and I showed it to people, and they thought it was a mural with the sun setting over the water. The staff was extremely accommodating and pleasant and the food was excellent!! a mixed review. Couldn't decide on 3 or 4 stars, decided to be generous. So the restaurant is on a beautiful piece of property, and it is nice inside. For apps we ordered bacon wrapped jalapeños and chips, salsa and guacamole. Jalapeños were delicious. The chips and salsa was not good, but that is probably my fault for going to a seafood restaurant and ordering a mexican dish. I had water to drink and the glasses were small and our waitress did not offer to fill it when empty, so I asked for more water and she never came back to fill the water again for the rest of the meal. This should not happen in a restaurant of this scale. It really bugs me as this is a finer dining restaurant, and the prices reflect that. We both opted for sandwiches. Mine was a cuban that did not come out looking anything like I had envisioned. I really wish I had taken a picture. menu description made it sound so good, when in fact the slow roasted pork part of the sandwich was lunch meat. really surprised me. It did taste good. Potato salad and coleslaw that came with sandwich was good. My husbands draft beer was $2 during happy hour no matter where you sit. I got coconut cream pie to take home and it was the best I have ever had. My husband got apple crisp to go and I don't even think there was 1/2 cup in the container. sad for $9. I will return and try more things as everything was good except for chips and salsa, and that could have just been my personal dislike of the chips. The sunset looked like it would be epic to see from the restaurant. We were a little early. We will be back and hope for a slightly more attentive wait staff. read more

The new Fish Whistle is wonderful!! Friendly service, great winter vibe with roaring fireplaces and terrific views. Will come back in the summer months. We used to go the Fish Whistle when it was in Chestertown but we do really love the atmosphere of the new location better, just a farther drive but it appears worth it! read more

This is actually a 3.5 star review. Food selection was great, so many options and many different types of fish to eat. They had good starters and had an great specials menu! On the other hand, the water was disgusting, and smelt terrible!! I had to plug my nose as I drank it so i wouldn't spit it out. Food was average, not bad at all, although nothing special. Service for food was pretty slow, and the restaurant was only about 1/3 full. I ordered a burger with lettuce and cheese, and when i got the burger, i had one tiny leaf of lettuce, and the cheese on the burger only covered 2/3's of the patty. The view while eating is great as you get to look at the marina and river. Overall a decent restaurant for local galena members. read more

We came again tonight for our second visit. It was just as Fabulous As the First! I ordered the same thing I did as the first time because everything was a perfect 10! No matter when you go, you always will go away with a memory of a great view from a special table and a lovely lunch or dinner. The people are very nice waitresses are exceptionally nice. My husband & I have gone to the Granary many times over the years. We've already visited the Fish Whistle all of the combined times we'd gone to the Granary in less than one year and there are several months to go before the years up; we'll be back. Obviously, we highly recommend this place. So far we've had the fish whistle salad, the Brussel sprouts salad, catfish fingers, chicken sandwich, bacon wrapped jalapeños poppers, smoked salmon open faced sandwich & the crab cake sandwich. Everything was great. They have a decent selection of beers as well. There is something for everyone. We really like how they added to the outdoor seating area due to Covid. The tents covering the seating area was a great idea. It's an improvement even without Covid.considerations. read more

During a trip home to see my family, we decided to take my mom and dad out for dinner during our last night. We chose this place as none of us had gone yet, but had frequented the restaurant that was there prior. We went for an earlier dinner and found that the restaurant was pretty empty. We all got salads or soups to start, and then got various entrées. My husband and dad got the crabcakes and loved them, my mom got different fish dish, and I got the steak. All very good and definitely a good portion size. We didn't leave enough room for desserts although they looked really good, to end the meal we had some coffee. Absolutely a place we will go back to when we are back in the area. The service was good and we found the prices to be reasonable for the type of dining experience we received. read more

Absolutely horrible. Got there at 6:00 and was told they are not seating anyone until 8 pm due to staffing. On top of that the woman was the rudest person I've ever dealt with. Drove thru a 30 minute no wake zone to be told they are not cooking until 8. If I owned this establishment I would do whatever it took to not turn customers away. If anything, we understand covid measures and covid times. Unfortunately our experience was terrible. the bartender, Victoria was AMAZING, so disregard this comment for her. We were told "I won't take your order until three o clock" (which we TOTALLY understand) and as you walked away, mumbling under your breath "or you can go somewhere else." You as a manager, should be ashamed of yourself. We ABSOLUTELY left, we don't regret the drinks we bought @ $50 plus a tip to a good bartender. My wife and I have been wanting to visit the Fish Whistle for a little while now, but the 80 mile trip kept us away. This past weekend I decided that we would go. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. Restaurants that focus on Seafood in Delmarva area are judged on their presentation of Crab Cakes. We went with two other couples to check out the re-branded eatery as we have also eaten at the other Fish Whistle. I asked our server about their "20/32" pricing for Crab Cakes. I was told (1) for $20 and (2) for $32. I was assured that one is big enough. I ordered it with the understanding that I would "upgrade" to two if needed. He brings out the other 5 orders, but not my Crab Cake! 10 mins later, a plate appears with fries and a Crab Cake sandwich? I call him over and tell him this is NOT what I ordered. "Oh, yes it is", he responds. The Crab Crake is about 1/2 inch smaller than the bun around the entire edge. My friends agree, this is NOT what I ordered. Bland, unremarkable and a waste of time. The Bill comes and my order is listed as "Crab Cake Sdw" for $18. $12 for (6) Shrimp, um ok.... Perhaps they will get their act together, until then I will NOT return. read more

Love the Fish Whistle. Always had good food and service. However I've got to complain about their nachos. It comes with 7, that's right SEVEN, nachos. Barely enough for the guac, leaving nothing for the massive bowl of pico. We asked for a refill on chips and they charged us! And only gave us SEVEN more. Come on guys... read more

Stopped in for lunch on a rainy Sunday. We sat in the bar, which has a great view of the water. Very cosy and warm on a cold wet day. We decided to get a few small plates instead of a big meal. The mussels in white wine were very fresh and delicious. We also tried the crab tostadas with guacamole - which was one of the specials, and a salad with lemon vinaigrette. It was a nice light lunch. They also offer some brunch options on Sunday. Will return to try some of the entrees next time we are in town. read more

We have now had four less-than-satisfying experiences at Fish Whistle, twice on weekends, twice midweek. Sadly, we're not going back. To tell it in a headline: Slow service and cold food. Really believe this is a management problem. For what it's worth, the menu has a good variety of offerings, and the prices are ok. Can't help but notice the good reviews. Maybe we keep hitting the place on bad nights. Anyway, the former Granary restaurant was outstanding. Probably not fair to compare FW with that one. read more

the food was outstanding but the service was a little questioning, i had a waitress named lidia and she seemed irritated like i was an inconvenience to her. she came to my table as least as possible clearly avoiding contact with me. and it seemed i saw other employees come service me more than my waitress. managers should definitely keep closer eyes on there waiting staff. read more
