I think this place is better than Tai Er and Nai brother (and certainly more reasonably priced than both) - probably the best sauerkraut fish I've had in NYC to date. I came by for a weekend lunch with 2 friends - they were pretty busy (the restaurant isn't the biggest) but we were able to get seated in 10-15 min. For the fish stew you can order either the large or small size, whose portion size they suggest is suitable for 2 people or 1 person, respectively. We ordered one large and one small option, and we ended up taking home enough for another meal later, but I think just 1 large wouldn't quite have been enough for the three of us. In any case, we had the snakehead fish / laotan pickled cabbage base 老罈酸菜魚(黑魚) and the basa fish with the "royal tomato" base 公舉蕃茄魚(巴沙魚). The suancai base was delicious, with a healthy kick of spicyness without being overpowering, and a nice choice of side dishes (big fan of the bean curd). The fish itself was really soft and yummy. Tomato base, in contrast, wasn't that great - the soup broth itself was too heavy/thick, but the flavour was nice (and the basa fish was fine). We ordered the snakehead/suancai dish as part of the combo set, which also came with drinks and the yummy brown sugar glutinous rice cake (紅糖糍粑) dessert. Price point was really solid (came out to less than $25pp in total, with leftovers!), which was definitely great value for the quality of the fish and portion sizes. Will try to come back soon!
every time i walk by im surprised how busy it is so i decided to try it for dinner on a weekday but unfortunately i was quite disappointed in the food. i wanted to try the lemon soup but decided to go with the sauerkraut fish which should be most representative of food here as its their signature but thought it missed the mark in so many ways. to start with, the basa fish was not tender - not fresh i can understand - but this was also definitely overcooked. i was so happy to see the starchy sweet potato noodles in the dish as theyre my fav for hotpot and soups but these somehow had no chew at all which ive never experienced. the soup itself which i feel should be spot on more than anything else tasted barely spicy and quite a bit more sour than i preferred, overpowering the other complex flavors. even the rice was clumpy like too much water was used, and i wouldnt have minded dryer rice with this soup. the brown sugar rice cakes were just ok and lemon tea had an artificial taste. i personally think nai brother is a much better option in food quality, setting, and service at the same price.

One of the best fish dishes I've ever ordered so far ! hands down. Their signature Aromatic Hot Oil Suancai Fish absolutely delivered from the first bite. The fish was tender and silky, soaked in a fragrant broth layered with sour pickled mustard greens, numbing Sichuan peppercorns, dried chilies, and that signature hot oil poured tableside, releasing an aroma that instantly made my mouth water. The balance of heat, tang, and savory depth was spot on bold but not overpowering, comforting yet exciting with every bite. The fish absorbed all those flavors beautifully, and each spoonful begged for rice. Speaking of rice do not skip it. Their rice was exceptional: fluffy, slightly glossy, and perfectly cooked, almost fragrant on its own. It soaked up the sauce effortlessly, pairing so well with the fish that it elevated the entire meal. I honestly wished I had asked what brand of rice they use because it was that good.The restaurant is called Fish With You, and they truly live up to the name. Every element felt intentional and well executed, making this dish both satisfying and memorable. A must order if you're a fan of bold, comforting flavors.
Absolutely delicious, quick service, and very reasonably priced. I crave green peppercorn pickled veg with basa fish at least every other week. My partner does not like the spice or sour flavors, so it's so fun that they're individually sized and he can order the tomato soup that isn't spicy at all, but little sweet from the tomatoes. The green peppercorn flavor here is so balanced, not too spicy and with just enough numb to give the tingle, but not overwhelming. After having lunch here, I bought a large to take home for the next day, since it's not as easily accessible in my neighborhood. I love the tofu skin and vermicelli noodles, they're so chewy and go well to soak in the flavors. Have returned back twice and would definitely come back next time!
Came by for lunch the other day to try it out, find your own seats (or sit at any open table). I tried the set meal, hot boiled snakehead with pickled cabbage & chili small order that comes with brown sugar rice cake and passion fruit tea ($28.25 without tip). The fish soup dish was enough for 2 to share, huge portion. Flavor was ok, not the best I've had and is a little bland for my taste. But other ppl liked it. Good option to try in the area if you're looking for a spot to go. Clean and friendly staff, food comes pretty quick too.
Been wanting to try this spot for a while, so was super excited to come here on a cooler day... Fish With You really hit the spot! Tried the snakehead fish in the princess tomato broth and it was perfect for someone who could not handle spice! The tomato broth was more thick with a very deep tomato flavor, and I would definitely pay the extra $3 to upgrade to the snakehead fish, as it was super soft and tender. Would highly recommend getting the lettuce as well (soaks up the broth super well) and the black fungus (they give you so much!) Rice is also unlimited here and it is perfectly al dente.... it paired so well with the soup, would definitely come back and try different toppings. Service and dining time is pretty fast, as most parties come in and out.

This place has the best green peppercorn Szechuan fish. It's spicy and mouth numbing in a good way. I normally can't finish a whole bowl of rice but whenever I eat here I can bc it goes so good with the spicy broth. It's always constantly good and the staff is super nice and accommodating whenever we eat there or get take out. I come almost weekly to eat here bc it's that good. It tastes better than it looks in pictures.
I came here after seeing a post on Xiao Hong Shu and I wasn't disappointed! I arrived around 5:15pm and there was no wait. My boyfriend and I were sat down immediately and reviewed the menu. The menu is very clear in both chinese and English which is great for ordering. The seating was also comfortable and the inside was pretty clean and bright. (Bathroom is also overall clean). We decided to order a large Laotan Pickled Pepper dish (1 chili pepper spice level) with snakehead fish - sides were tofu skin, baby cabbage, wood ear, and vermicelli, and a small Spicy Snakehead fish (3 chili pepper spice level) with tofu skin and wood ear. We got a side of panko skewers (actually they are pork belly skewers). We then got 1 iced lemon tea and 1 wheat milk tea. One of the drinks were free because they have a promotion where you can share one of their wechat business videos onto your wechat moments and then get a drink for free. I really enjoyed my lemon tea and my boyfriend enjoyed his milk tea! Onto the food - the laotan pickled pepper was definitely yummy for those who love pickled pepper flavor. However I also wanted something spicier and this was not very spicy - the other dish however had more of a kick which was enjoyable! Next time I might order 2 smalls in different flavors to satisfy both cravings. The skewers were just okay - I wouldn't order them next time as they're small and didn't add much to the overall meal. I'd recommend coming here if you have a craving for spicy fish or pickled pepper fish and don't want to break the bank. Prices are overall very reasonable for the food quality, and rice is free and unlimited! I ended up packing away a little more than half of the small spicy fish to bring home, and the leftovers from our rice bowls. :) I'll be back soon!

Pleasantly surprised by this relatively new shop tucked away amongst many shops on 40 Rd. Had the Snakehead Fish in Pickled Cabbage & Pepper soup which is pretty spicy but good flavor. Beef set included Spicy Beef soup, Fried Chicken Strips appetizer, and Rice Milk Tea Drink. Great flavor and very tender thick slices of beef. Soup comes very spicy so I was able to ask them to make it mild. Fried Chicken Strips were extra crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and very well seasoned with salt & pepper in the breading so the side of ketchup isn't necessarily unless you wanted to mute the pepper. Appetizer of Pork Belly skewers and dessert of Brown Sugar Rice Cakes rounded out the meal. Skewers were cooked just right with the pork belly (bacon) pieces still juicy to the bite and the Rice Cakes were sweet & crispy. Servers were very nice to explain everything on the menu and you can either order on the app/browser or via the server. Oh and unlimited bowls of rice are free! read more

Fish With You is a casual chain restaurant from China that serves Sichuan boiled fish. Service was good, although English is limited with some of the servers. The boiled fish dishes are delicious! They have combos available but you can also order a la cart. The small comes with two free "sides" (more like add-ins) while the large comes with four. Unlimited rice is included. The small is pretty large. Probably enough for two servings. I had the snakehead fish with tomato broth and with pickled mustard. The pickled mustard one is rated one spice level but it is definitely not mild. The pickled mustard soup is spicy and a bit sour, while the tomato is not spicy and sweet. I enjoyed the tomato one more. We couldn't finish our food so we took the rest to go. Delicious food and nice servers! read more

Decided to finally try this restaurant after seeing it on Tiktok and XiaoHongShu. Stopped by on a Friday night for takeout and was pleasantly surprised by how many people were dining in (restaurant is on a quieter street off Main St). I ordered a large order Laotan Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili for 2 people plus 2 passion fruit teas. Food was delicious and just the right amount of spice. Fish was delicious and not overcooked. The employees were all very polite as well. Food took about 15 minutes to be ready which is pretty fast for a Friday night. Definitely will be back to try other fish dishes and the skewers too. read more

I've been here four times now, and it's so consistently delicious. I always walk away feeling immensely satisfied. The value, flavors, and speed of receiving your food are all here in flushing. Boiled Basa with Pickled Cabbage and Chili - truly a 5 star dish. It hits all the notes of savory, salty, sour, warming, tingly. The fish is tender but won't fall apart under pressure from chopsticks. I really love adding tofu, cabbage, bean curd, and wood ear mushroom (they soak up the soup flavor really well). Beef skewers (not pictured) - tender, a little fatty, flavored well with cumin. Popcorn chicken - hell, even this is great. Good crispiness on the outside and juiciness on the inside. I came with a group of two friends and was able to share a large bowl! We got the pickled vegetables with fish, and I felt that the soup was really "clear". It wasn't super flavorful and there could be more "sourness" to the soup. Such a great place for some soup, and being able to sit and chat. Greatly priced! read more

A simple traditional Chinese fish franchise restaurant located in Flushing. This was cater to Chinese who came from China. If you even been to China then this might be something you would like to try. If you never been to China, then trying these food will be the most closest food you will have in China. Either way, you can try it and find out if you are interested in Chinese food in China. Both types of fish are boneless and the black snake fish has skin on it. For the quality between the fish, I recommend go with the black snake fish. It was similar to making your own except for the limit amount of options. First, pick the type of flavor then to the type of fish and finally pick a few toppings to go with it. That was all. For people who can't eat spicy, don't pick anything that has a pepper on it. If you like spicy, go with their speciality on the top of the menu. Remember the extra napkins and chopsticks are on the draw below you. read more

Dined in for a table of 3 on a Wednesday afternoon around 12:30pm. The traffic inside was ok, we were able to get a table. We ordered a large spicy and sour fish bowl that comes with 4 toppings of our choice and it came with rice. We also tried their beef skewers which was ok. We didn't expect the size was smaller. However, we shared the spicy and sour fish bowl, it was really good. Lots of amount of fishes and sour veggies that got soaked up by the broth. By the end, we each paid $13-14 per person including the tips. I think it's a great value when you have someone to share with. read more

Suan Cai fish soup is amazing and this is the place to get in Flushing China Town . Ordered 1,2 with snakehead fish , pork belly skewers and more than enough for two. They use a special rice with unlimited refills and taste great. Place gets busy but service is quick and prices more than reasonable for this quality of food. Don't hesitate to make this a stop ! local gem for chinese sauerkraut fish 酸菜魚 in flushing, they're a chain in china and just opened up this spot in flushing recently. you really get your money's worth since eat set meal is priced at just ~$25 and is probs enough for a meal for 2. we ordered a ton of appetizers and stews to try - all of the dishes we tried were PACKED with flavor and i found myself wanting to slurp up all of the remaining broth!! except for the ones with chili, because i cannot handle spice for the life of me. i did try them tho and they were really good, i just couldn't eat too much LOL so the tomato broth was perfect for me... lowkey i still think about the tomato basa fish set meal sometimes, i want to eat it again! service was great - the food came out super quickly, and all the stews come with free rice & extra sides! swear they have like 15 or something rice cookers inside so you always have some nice, fresh, yummy rice. what we ordered (* = my faves): - set meal of hot boiled snakehead fish with pickled cabbage and chili (comes with brown sugar rice cakes & iced lemon tea) - princess's tomato basa fish set meal (comes with brown sugar rice cakes & passionfruit tea)* - set meal of laotan boiled basa fish with pickled cabbage and chili (comes with crispy pork slices & orange fruit tea) - chicken skewers* - popcorn chicken* - pumpkin pie* my favorite has to be the princess's tomato basa fish set meal, hands down. this one was the best suited for me given my character flaw of not being able to eat spicy food. the tomato flavor wasn't too overpowering and it was just the right amount of sweetness :)) i kept going back for more fish because it was sooo soft and cooked just right. don't sleep on their appetizers either! i really liked the brown sugar rice cakes, chicken skewers, and pumpkin pie. the cumin flavor on the chicken skewers added the perfect amount of kick, and the pumpkin pies were almost like mochi-texture with a subtle but delicious & sweet flavor!! read more

Affordable boiled fish spot in Flushing. Opted for a small pot, but it comfortably served two. The fish was decent, but the broth really stood out in flavor. The pickled veggies added a nice touch. Bonus: it pairs well with the all-you-can-eat rice! read more

I've been waiting to come to Fish with You for around a year and it did not disappoint!! I came here with three other friends and we got two large soups (one spicy, one not) and some skewers (not pictured). The soups were SO GOOD!! the fish was soft, the soup was tangy and addicting, and also they let you add add-ins to the soups for free (like veggies, noodles, etc.)!! Also, the portions are quite large too, we definitely could've gotten two smalls instead. You also get unlimited rice which was nice! The service was also very amazing, the waitresses often came by to fill our water and refill our rice bowls :) The interior was also quite cute, with lots of seating and bright colors! Definitely was super full afterward and I can't wait to come back :D read more

Aesthetically please spot. The food is okay but not really for me. Service was fast and easy. I liked the sides over the main dishes but the prices are relatively cheap. My friends liked it a lot more than I did though so maybe it was just me. Spicy fish is on the spicier side so just be aware. Overall a 4/5 star experience. read more
