Best cup of coffee we had in Key West, including the Cuban Coffee Queen. While we were waiting to hop on the Sebago Island Ting trip on Christmas Day, faced with the pernicious peril of caffeine deficiency, we traipsed over to the Fisherman and got ourselves some cafe con leches and a steak brekky sandwich. The lads quickly whipped up some of the best coffee in the country and a delish sandwich. Coffee was rich, flavorful and wonderfully blended the exotic island expressions of Cuba and a great, smack-you-in-da-face deeply flavored coffee. Bro.... Freaking awesome food. We happen to be walking by and decided to stop and get food from here and what an awesome decision. We both had their special for the day which was chicken BLT with yuca fries... it literally was one of the best I ever had! Everything was absolutely fresh and delicious, the sauce that they put on the chicken is the same they give you for the yucca fries so be sure to get it, you won't be disappointed!!! Were so happy that Yelp lead us to check out this awesome small lunch shack that I'd right by the water. We ordered the lobster tacos and the Island Bowl and both were delicious. The service was friendly and although the food didn't come out right away, it totally hit the spot. Walked over a mile in pouring rain from our annual timeshare, to get my favorite meal on the island-conch salad, but was a little chilled by the time I got there and decided to try the lobster mac and cheese too, thinking I'd try a little bite and save the rest for my husband, who's currently bar hopping.....30 mins. later there's only 1/2 of the lobster mac and cheese left and I'm too full to each much of MY meal....highest praises to Fisherman's Cafe for their tremendously delicious (and filling) dishes...next year will come more often, I havent found any better yet, 15 yrs. This place was a definite sleeper.. does not look like much on the outside.. just a few wooden tables and chairs by the ordering window but let me tell you the food was amazing!! My husband and I liked Fisherman's Cafe so much that we ate here twice during our stay! The first day we split the lobster tacos. They were very juicy and delicious. The next day I wanted the try the conch chowder, so we went back. We also had the fish sandwich, which was a fully dressed hogfish. I have never had hogfish, but dang this was yummy! Light, flaky, and the remoulade was the perfect match. My sandwich came with a side, so I chose the mac n'cheese. This side lived up to my m & c standards and then some! Starting off with the location. It's near the water, it looks less of a cafe and more of a shack that you would sell boat rentals. I used the 15% off yelp coupon and my order came out to a few cents more than the original price of my food. I asked why that was and when I asked for a cup of water she charged me $2 for a bottle. I don't know if that was an innocent mistake or if that was intentional. But when I noticed the price I pointed it out and she explained the water bottles were $2 even though I didn't ask for a bottle I just asked for water, maybe I was vague but she refunded me the money she charged. I ordered a blackened shrimp wrap without bacon and sweet potato fries and it was yummy. It's a good place to stop and get some food on the way. This place is located right by the Conch Farm, great location. The chef here epitomizes what it means to be one. He does something that's rare in Key West, provides delicious, affordable food! We got the lobster tacos, fries and the Mac n Cheese! The tacos have such an incredible flavor, it is dynamic and layered, savory, spicy, a little sweet. The toppings were super fresh and only complemented the pile of freshly fried lobster. Seriously, tons of lobster for like $12. Superb. . . I'm not the biggest seafood fan. But this was the best fish taco I've ever had. Delicious. The fish was so fresh tasting. None of that "fishiness" that comes with fish sitting out. Picked up the el Cubano breakfast sandwich to go! It was also huge! I'm typically not a big meat eater, but the chorizo and pork combo was so flavorful. I couldn't put it down. This is not the place for breakfast and the girl working the counter had too much attitude. Not what anyone wants to deal with first thing in the morning. When a paying customer says thank you, it should be acknowledge and you should not roll your eyes and walk away. So rude. She also had no idea what the man, who was a regular, was ordering after I placed my order. He walked away without even placing an order because of his frustration. I ordered the breakfast egg sandwich, which is bread, egg, and cheese. No flavor. I paid another dollar for the bacon. Very cute little hole in the wall place. Super cute place to go with a friend or two. I don't recommend a group because it only has a few staggered seats in the front.
