Rude rude rude. This restaurant should just retire. They have clearly lost the quality and attention to detail that one would establish while in business. The food, as you can read from other reviews is just horrible and frozen crap. Instead of making the changes to a wrong order, they blamed me for their mistakes. 10am on a Sunday and there was 3 people there, that says a lot there. Minus 5 stars would be more like it. They had a great branch office in Walpole many many years ago. It was good for 3 years. Their original fried haddock was super; fresh & decent sized. & then I got thoroughly rotted clams. Never went back & immediately after, they closed. I had the unusual occasion of doing business in Dedham & saw the main location was still around. I had hopes that it would be ok since it's still open. I ordered fried haddock. the old managers must have died. It was the filthiest restaurant I ever saw. The white counter literally looked like you dropped a handful of potting soil on it; it was that dirty. And the server placed my fork right in the dirt. like she didnt know! That counter hadnt been wiped off for days or weeks. The breading or batter on the fish was terrible, with the consistency of a roofing shingle. The fish was horrible and a puny portion, excusable only by its low quality. Very, very, very terrible. Beyond disappointing. Disgusting. Grotesque beyond belief. And sad. read more

We were staying on the outskirts of Boston (in Norwood) and decided to drive the four plus miles to this family run restaurant because of YELP. My hubby had been craving some authentic Boston Clam Chowder ever since we planned our east coast adventure, like ten months ago. A solid three and a half stars. Not bad. Just 21 reviews. Well, this doesn't appear to be a thriving metropolis, so maybe YELPing hasn't quite caught on... I can honestly say YELP has never let me down. Until now. Total YELP fail Don't come in at 8:30pm and expect to order the special. "It takes thirty minutes." They close at 9pm. Their operating hours aren't listed on YELP. Don't expect a bowl of clam chowder, even if it's on the menu. "We don't make it when it's hot out." Sad. This was our first dinner in Massachusetts. This was more like settling. So, hmmm. Let's make the most of it. The menu runs the gamut of Italian dishes, seafood plates, sandwiches and more. I have a feeling they might be a decent breakfast spot. But we waltzed in thirty minutes before closing and got the distinct feeling we'd better hurry up and eat. Order simple. A couple of appetizers, a slice of pizza and their FAMOUS fish and chips. The portions ARE generous. But if the food is mediocre, who cares? Reheated pizza. Mozzarella sticks we could have picked up in the frozen food section of the local grocery store. Spinach pie? Made with FIlo dough. It's hard to dislike anything made with Filo dough. Layers of buttery goodness. Unless it's been sitting around waiting to be reheated and somehow that buttery goodness becomes hardened, chewy toughness with unseasoned spinach. Meh. Well, the FAMOUS Fish & Chips might just redeem this meal, right? Wrong. What's worse? I ate more than I should have. I wasn't all that hungry when we got there. But somehow this family restaurant transported me back to my grandmother's house. At Sunday dinner. When I was eight. When I couldn't be excused until I made a grand effort. Yikes. Did I just admit that? So...two stars. Meh. I spent time, money and calories unwisely. Total personal FAIL. Later that night and the next morning, two of the four of us suffered for our choices. In a big way. Let's just say we should have packed Imodium... So...demotion. One star. The moral of this humble review from a transplanted west coast girl to this fried seafood spot? Watched football on TV while waiting for food. Nice relaxing dinner. YYYIIIIPPPEEE: LOVE family owned businesses. We where waited on by the owner's daughter and she took great care of us. HUGE, Gigantic, extra large, immense, portions. My husband and I could have been very full off the Seafood Platter alone and probably would have still had extra to take home. We should have shared. Very reasonable price. BBBOOO: Nothing SUMMARY: Thanks for making us LA peops feel at home. About 15 minute walk - one way (no taxi needed) from Dedham Hilton through cute neighborhood. Been here a thousand years and is still the same. Old school country breakfast and lunch place. Old fashioned cake stands on the counter full of homemade muffins. Subs are great and come with fries, Super friendly staff and Fanta soda in glass bottles. read more

In an era of themed corporate eateries, this is the real thing! If it ever closes, Boston needs to declare Fisherman's Restaurant a historic monument to restaurants before McD. Jade Garden and Of Changs. The food is great... I have no idea how they manage everything from fried clams to spaghetti nine ways and steak... all the way food use to be. First, the parking is virtually non existent, and if you are unfamiliar with the area, the place is easy to miss.i was lucky. I came in at 8:00 at night and had the place all to myself. Second, the place as an old dinner feel to it, like the old TV show Alice that featured Mel's Diner. The counter is kind of low to the ground, and the decore looks old, but feels genuine. Third, the staff are great, and more than make up for the lack of parking. This was my first time, at the place, and the waitress was very helpful with suggestions, and even made a significant substitution to the seafood platter so that I got exactly what I wanted. Last, but not least, is the food. The seafood platter is more than the average person can reasonably finish; come hungry, or not at all. Dishes like the seafood platter and the fish and chips, are very greasy, but very tasty. The scallops were especially good, and the fries were crispy, but they use haddock for the fish, which I am not fond of, and it was both greasy and flavorless . This is not an everyday meal, but a decadence, and I got a ridiculous amount of food for just over twenty dollars with tip. Now, they do have healthier options on the menu,but what kind of sense does that make at a place like this. I concur with the other reviewers about the mom and pop feel of the place, and I would definitely eat here again, but the food is just good, not great. As a commuter on the Franklin line, I've always wondered where this "Endicott" station was. Apparently, it's right by Fisherman's restaurant. I went there a while ago with a large party on a holiday, and the restaurant was empty save us and another small party or two. The restaurant itself is a small throwback, a counter with chairs, and a few tables. Every item that came out onto our table was large, offering much food. Other guests in my party enjoyed what they ordered, including fish and chips, eggplant parm, (a huge dish if I say) and a few other items. I myself stuck to a steak and cheese sub, not wanting seafood at the moment; it too was large, and good. Bread came out for the table, though it was a little awkward without small plates. I would go back if I were in the area, just to try out the other items on the menu, after all, it does say Fisherman's, so I figure I should try their seafood at some point. Parking does seem nonexistent though. I could see myself coming more often if I did park at the train station right there. But alas, I'm usually sound asleep as we roll through Endicott. read more

This place has got some good fish and chips and lots of them. I cannot finish the it in one sitting and i can eat. Ive been here many times and havn't tried anything else. The meal is cheap (8-9 dollars) and they give you around 5 pieces of fish and a mound of fries with some cole slaw and tarter sause. The place seems dead at night which makes me think they have a good breakfast, and now that i think about it I think they serve breakfast all day! read more

Was looking for some fried fish, and this little number came up, family owned, and very nice people. I personally had the steak tips which were GREAT! Very nice flavor and cooked right. My co worker got the fish and shrimp and it was piled on his plate and very freah, and he is taking the rest home highly recommand this place!! read more

I was looking for some good Fish went on Yelp to help me find a place who is reasonable and good food. I was a little skeptical because the pictures of the portions seem like a lot and may not be that way when you actually go there. I must say I was shocked, they give you some much fish that you are able to feed 2 more people. I would say without a doubt try this place. Make sure you pay attention when driving to this place, you may end up going pass it. But it is definitely worth your money. read more

"highly recommend" I have seen the menu from here for about the past year in the drawer at my work and have debated going. The other day my coworker and I ordered and I really wish we did it sooner!!! We ordered fish an chip plates and the food was very good and the portion size was exactly what I love a nice sized serving of fish and a nice pile of Fry's! There Cole slaw is very good and they also give you enough tartar sauce for all the fish. The prices are great. I can't wait to go back and try some other stuff! read more

I have to agree with the first reviewer of this restaurant, Sarvenaz and John H. as it is truly a Mom and Pop restaurant in the best way that it is a family run restaurant and they are always interested in making sure their patrons enjoy their food. When I go there, I have their Greek salad with chicken and it is just wonderful. I see others that have ordered their fish and chip plate like John H. mentioned and they too cannot finish it. I ate it once and it was good but felt so guilty that I had so much left over that I haven't ordered it again... opting for something a little more healthy that I can eat all of. Another hot item there is their clam plate and fried seafood plate and people love it and return over and over again for their favorites because they are cooked well and their prices are good too. I have had their omelets for breakfast as well as scrambled eggs and they are always very good. It is great for meals at all times of day whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner because they let you sit down at the counter or at a table or you can take it home instead, it is up to you! They also have catering too! Oh, I almost forgot... their coffee is great too! I love going for a nice hot cup to wake me up in the morning or get me warm in the winter months. read more

Just no. I love to support small businesses (particularly breakfast joints) like this but they have to at least make an effort. The fact that there was only one other couple in the place when I arrived at 8:00 am should have been a clue. The older woman behind the counter appeared to be inconvenienced by my presence and does not seem interested in engaging in questions about the menu. Even though there is no cellular signal in the place, don't bother asking to use one of the two guest wifi links.. you can't. My breakfast was pretty gross with shell in the scrambled eggs and off tasting kielbasa. Again, don't ask for an English muffin.. white or wheat only. Left most of my breakfast on the plate.. and I NEVER do that. The coffee? It's just a cup of coffee, nothing redeeming. Very Disappointed. read more

I ordered haddock and calamari with onion rings and clam chowder. The onion rings came out first, dripping in grease and just meh. The clam chowder was actually good, but that was it. Calamari had terrible batter (tasted like flour), and the Haddock was either old or just poor quality. Large portions of bad food with uncomfortable seating. read more

My wife & I went out of our way to have lunch here for the first time today, attracted by the prospect of inexpensive seafood. It's a little nondescript cafe at a busy intersection; the interior is a bit drab and worn. But we were there for the food. Our orders were taken promptly and the food was served quickly. I had fish & chips. The fish was fresh and expertly cooked so that it was still moist and flaky, and the batter was light, crispy, and tasty. The portion was huge -- two whole fillets and a couple of other good-sized chunks as well. The chips were nothing special. The tarter sauce was good, home-made, and plentiful. The cole slaw was good. That's the good news. My wife ordered the lobster roll. It turned out to be "imitation lobster", but it was not described as such on the menu or the sign on the wall. She only ate a few bites of that and then had some of my over-abundant fish. It was a really mixed experience. Even though the fish was good, we were pretty shocked and disappointed by the imitation lobster. If it had been my order, I would have made an issue of it, but my wife didn't. Went in for the first time just moved up the street what a gem I found. Breakfast lunch and dinner well I went in for lunch today and ordered the fish n chips and he ordered the seafood platter which was enormous with the clams with the bellies it was $5.00 extra for that but well worth it the waitress was super nice even though she was so busy loved loved this place really homey and comfortable it is a little bit dated like many say on yelp but who cares the foods great and besides you know your getting good food and leaving happy and the prices are great also. Wish I had taken a picture will update you on that when I go in again will be soon read more

Taste: The fish and chips portion was huge and tasted good. The steak and cheese calzone was way too greasy. The tarter sauce was frozen and had onions in it. Overall, I was disappointed with the food. Environment: Was dumpy and dirty The thing that really made me mad is that I went there with a coupon from the Entertainment Book. On the coupon the only exception was no lobster dishes. On the wall of the restaurant states you only use the coupons Monday-Thursday. I went on a Saturday. They should have stated that on the coupon prior to customers coming in. Would not return! read more

Very unassuming place, and a great find. I was lost in Dedham, MA after business in Boston and went searching for a restaurant--not much luck. GPS brought me here. I sat out front for 10 minutes examining the scary old facade to the building, thinking this mom & pop joint probably will have a lousy meatloaf if I'm lucky. But, just then a young woman came out the door with a "pick-up" bag of food, put it on her car in the freezing cold, and quickly reached in, grabbed some food, and stuffed it in her mouth before entering the car--if that ain't a sign of good food, I don't know what is. I went right in, sat down in the 1970's style seating, and observed it to be a well-run, family-operated establishment, with good service, and even better food. Hardly any parking available, but then again most people were taking massive amounts of food home for pick-up. I went with the fried clams platter--cole slaw was proper New England with a hint of pepper; thick, crispy fries were just light enough, and the pile of (perfectly) lightly breaded whole belly clams was more than I could eat. I've had clams ALL over New England--my favorite--and this little place far from the ocean wins hands down for the best (sorry Bangor, sorry Portland, sorry Provincetown, etc.). After a day of hiking, I used Yelp to find a seafood restaurant nearby. I saw this one, and saw it had very positive reviews. Turns out they were right. It feels very family-owned, and very loved. This shows in the cleanliness of the restaurant (which was spotless), and the quality of the food. The batter they use is great. We ordered the fried calamari, onion rings, and 3 fish and chips. All were very good. The serving size was extremely generous. We really could have split 1 order of fish and chips between the 3 of us. Price was very reasonable. The service was, well, Momish- friendly, kind, and inviting. We all really enjoyed it and will go there again anytime we are in the area. read more

It looked like just the place I needed for a quick bite....I was very happy with the bagel breakfast sandwich they fixed for me. The service was personal and just right. I grabbed a menu. I was shocked at the size of a small egg plant sub, with crinkle frys! all for about 6 bucks.. then i had icecream too.. which was not some cheap variety. It was excellent!
