Service receptionist is rude and the prices for any service is extremely high. I would not recommend this dealership for anything.

I took my Mazda CX-5 to them for a dim daytime running light, a safety recall. They fixed it fine. 18 months later, the same issue is occurring. However, Mazda will only support safety recalls once. Therefore, despite it being a Mazda issue that they are aware of, they will not cover it. The dealership needs to work with Mazda to assure that safety recalls are truly fixed. read more

This is my 3rd vehicle I have purchased from Fitzgerald. I first purchased a 2013 Cadillac ATS. I traded in the Cadillac for a 2017 Equinox and Mario Meyers who has been a blessing since day one I stepped into Fitzgerald. He was not only knowledgeable, but a wonderful understanding individual to work with. Car buying is a stressful time, or most times, but when dealing with Mario, he makes the whole experience worth while. He was by my side thru the experience, making it so enjoyable to be there. Went there with daughter , she chose the vehicle she wanted, four wheel drive vehicle, used with after market exterior accessories, and after market wheels. As Fitzgerald was preparing paper work she and I went to look at vehicle, she was so excited, big purchase for her, stepping into adulthood. We were surprised to see a mechanic taking off all the after market accessories, and get this ! , he was putting them in the back of his pick up. We inquired to what was happening, was told that the after market parts would not pass inspection. Asked if this would lower price, we were told no. Spoke to a Scott at corporate office, I told him after buying several cars there before I am shocked about this, his response was " Jack doesn't need previous customers, it's all about new customers, that's where the money is " , needless to say, done with Fitzgerald's. read more

Considering the fact that Fitzgerald's has been in the Frederick area for so many years I've always thought that they were trustworthy and knowledgeable. After my last experience, I see that they are neither. I took my car for service with a service light on and in need of some brake repairs. A few hours lasted I got a call telling me I needed all kinds of work on my suspension, brakes, tires, belts and emissions. He said that the most important items were the suspension, brakes and tires for a total of $3000. I couldn't believe I had so many issues with my car so I took it elsewhere for a second opinion. There were no issues with my suspension, belts, or emissions! My total at the other place was $750! Needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed with Fitzgerald's and will not be returning. read more

I had a very pleasant experience here having my service completed. It was my first visit and I was greeted by one of the servicemen as he checked my vehicle in. I was then assisted by a very nice and professional serviceman behind the counter named, "Andy". He was super courteous and friendly. He asked what type of service did I need today, and I let him know that my husband had made and appointment at 9 AM. I arrived a few minutes early, and I was standing in front of him by 8:58 AM. Andy, prepared my paperwork, asked if I would be waiting or coming back for the car. I told him that I would be waiting. He said, "Ok, great! You're more welcome to have a seat in our lobby and I'll come find you once the car is done." I said, "ok, thanks." The waiting are was nice and tidy. I sat down at the corner desk area for their waiting customers to do a little work. By the time it was 9:45 AM, Andy had come over to get me to let me know my car was ready. He gave me an overview of the service that was performed on my car and had my paperwork ready to go. When I checked in on YELP today, a $25 off discount popped up for any service, and so I asked if they still honored it. He said, "Sure. I don't see why not." So he snapped a photo to attach with my paperwork, so that the office admin would have documentation of it, and also so management would know that it works. I will say that this dealership is quick, efficient, and I had a wonderful experience today! I have no problem coming back for service in the future and highly recommend them for your car needs. Girlfriend just purchased a vehicle and they tell her after the fact that they made an error estimating taxes. They held her tags and title hostage. She ended up paying half of the taxes they had already paid. After which, they couldn't even find the tags and delayed us even more. I would not recommend doing business with them. read more

Update: I wanted to let things go but I think people should know how this ended. After my talk with Mr. Arnold O of Fitzgerald and him telling me that I should have talked to a manager before going online and blasting them. I took to the internet again to contact other auto dealers about this issues I had and all Ford, Hoffman, and I cant recall the last one all said the issue would of been replaced as soon as it came in and I shouldn't of had that issue. Arnold said ( no company replaces spark plugs unless they fail). I took my van to a mechanic who replaced the spark plus and he agreed that there was no way they passed. But anyways no hard feelings just dont shop with people you cant trust. A hard lesson I had to learn but a good one at that. read more

I brought a Cadillac CTS 2006 at the end of August 2014. I was so excited everyone was nice I really thought I got a deal, I even purchased the warranty. I have been to the shop every since. When I first got the car I drove it a week and it's been in the shop since. I'm so pissed I had to complain to the manager because within the week the car needed a converter and they tried to say I was going to pay for it oh I dont think so. So the car has been in and out the shop one minute it's rattling or won't start up. Just tired it's only October! I took the car a week ago they said it needed oil but it was just there two weeks ago they said it was down a court of oil that's why it's shaking and stalling. So guess what for about 5 days I been jumping my car every time I need to go go some where. I will never ever buy a car from here they just want your money and once they get it they are done with you. Taken a Chevy there two times now for warranty work and once for out of warranty work. The out of warranty work was done right and on time, but boy did it cost a lot. I was over charged on the book hours in my opinion. The warranty work was done pretty quick and they did not push other services. The service writers were very easy to deal with. I brought a car with 60k on it that I diagnosed myself and found that the repair was still covered under a little known special warranty. I gave them the codes and told them what tech service bulleton number the repair was covered under. I left it without an appointment. They didn't even call me and just fixed it. They called when it was done. Less than 24hrs it was fixed. Outstanding! Thats service. Got it done and didn't worry about selling me wipers or an oil change on a car that was in otherwise great shape. Highly recomend this service department. Tom provided great service. The car was also purchased here. I have to say I got a good price on the new car and the experience was one of the better ones I have had buying a car. This is a well-oiled machine! From the minute you pull into the bay doors they are on it. Really well appointed waiting area with big screens, an electronic device charging station, work centers, comfortable seating, and even a clean child play area. I do not recommend buying a car from here. My husband and I went to the Volkswagen dealership to look at their SUVs. There were two employees sitting at the large desk in the center of the store and another employee sitting at a small desk. Two of the employees saw us walk in. The other was looking at his phone. The two that saw us did not acknowledge us at all. We stood in the store for a few minutes, then left. We drove to another Volkswagen dealership in a different city and bought a Tiguan and an Atlas. The Fitzgerald auto service have treated me horribly. I have never ever experienced such a level of rudeness and disrespectful from them. I had to call them to have a special order GM car keys to make two copies - the first time I went there - the service guy was okay - not completely friendly - kind of reluctant to write notes with me as I'm Deaf - but okay - but the 2nd copy didn't come out correctly so I was told that I'd have to order another one - I said why not order now - I was told that I had to call them at the same place to get one ordered to replace the one they didn't do correctly the first time. So I did call them to order another one - then I'd come in the following week. Flash forward to the time I go in to get the faulty key replaced. I showed up at the parts department and there were approximately 8 to 10 service employees at the front desk area - they ALL SAW me show up - but they looked away and continued on. There was no "oh we'll be right here with you a min" - nothing. Awkward silence - waited few min to see if someone will come and help me - nope. I waved again - they saw me and looked away and went to their computers. Of course I wasn't happy about how I was treated - ignored as if I was invisible. So I finally used my deaf voice to say "hey! hello!" - few of them looked at me and told the other guy to come and help me - he made some snark faces at me like "what do you want" kind of attitude. I said that I came to get the faulty key replaced - get a new one copied. So I asked him if there were notepad somewhere so I could write - he kind of threw it on the countertop - um okay. So I wrote what I needed. Then he responded to me verbally - I told him that I'm Deaf - I need him to write - he kept talking to me verbally. So I wrote a note asking him to write what he said, he read and responded back to me verbally. Then I bluntly told him "hey - you see me as a Deaf person writing notes - WHY are you talking to me - please write what you said down!" He had an attitude to me - I was like WOW. He kept asking me what's wrong with it - I told him that it was incorrectly copied. So he grabbed my receipt from the previous visit to look it up - he said it was already done. I told him no - it was last week but one of the keys was faulty and had to order another to have it replaced. So he went to make one copy for me - and gave it to me - it was plain key - I told him "no - that's not the keys I ordered - it had to be GM brand keys - I called your department last week to have it ordered" so again he looked up on the computer - ah it turned out that I had them ordered - so he went to make copy of the key. The kind of had an attitude towards me for no reason all because I asked him to write notes that he reluctantly do. He didn't have to be rude to me or anything. I wasn't rude at all - of course I was frustrated because I was very patient and he wasn't meeting me halfway to communicate with me. Frederick has one of the largest Deaf communities in the country - we all deserve better than this poor treatment. I do not accept this behavior. I have a really bad impression with Fitzgerald that I've already decided that I will NEVER shop from them in the future - buy cars from them, etc. And I was the only one in the whole Auto Mall that was masked - NONE of the employees were masked (there was one customer that was). Even though there was no mask mandate at this point of time - but a common courtesy comes a long way to wear a mask although I have been vaccinated. I wore masks out of respect and I hope that people would reciprocate that. But the bottom line here - I have never experience such poor treatment from ANY company like this before. Wow. I give ONE star out of 5 stars - I do NOT recommend this place for any automobile purchase or servicing. read more

There was severe damage to both drivers side doors that would have needed tons of work then have the paint work blended into the rest of the car ($2000). Half of the front bumper was missing and not there ($600). When starting the car the engine was running very rough and made a grinding noise when it first started ($500-$1500 for MSI). The overall condition was in very poor shape and the car ran rough. Plus, you still owe $7,000 on the vehicle As stated in the original review, the damage to the car was disclosed upfront. The estimates to have the damage fixed has been grossly upcharged as I have all the appraisals in-hand still for reference if I ever decided to have the damage fixed. The fact that this person whom I don't remember being pointed out as the person who did the appraisal and in fact it was a man who did so to go as far as to say the engine ran rough. I just had everything tuned up and checked out at Midas the week before Christmas and everything checked out. This just furthers my distaste wtih Fitzgerald and the fact that I will never step foot there again and will continue to explain my experience to friends/family and through reviews. read more

First and foremost Arnold please let your customer relations manager know that I intended to call her before I read your response as was at work both times she called however at this point this will be my last communication with your company. Yelp viewers, while Fitz had outstanding customer service until the point of pick up I highly discourage you from purchasing from them. Arnold, I did not ask for you to open the trunk and check it, I simply suggested that your team were the last people to open the trunk to detail it (in December of 2019 then again in May of 202) and since I did not see this "known concerned part" (which both your GM and service desk employee told me was a recalled part) how am I to know that you didn't leave the trunk open and my car flooded? And question, why wouldn't you clean up my car after it sat on your lot for 5 months? That should have been common courtesy and not an "additional service" that you provided at no charge. Also, if you all poured SO much money into my rentals then why couldn't you just cover the $400 worth of labor with my last concern that created my distrust of your company instead of splitting it? I have no sympathy for the loss that your company has experienced because I offered to trade my car in several times once I was notified that the part was on backorder and your service desk insisted that that was not company policy and "how things worked"- all I asked was that I get fair trade in value since YOU would have to fix the car anyway before you could sell it; that would have been a $1,000 loss versus your $5,000 in rentals. Finally, while you did give me a 15% discount off of my total discount that really isn't a "deal" since your dealership is offering 15% off of labor during this pandemic. Yelpers, I sincerely urge you to purchase from another dealership for your next car so that you don't end up in my situation defending yourself and feeling belittled, berated and ignorant by this company. read more

Don't be turned off by the big corporate nature: it has its advantages. We had to buy a new car in a pinch and didn't have time to thoroughly research trustworthy dealers and individual sellers. We placed our trust in Fitzgerald and they came through. They stand by their product and own up to the inevitable bloopers on their lot. The used model we bought from them is performing splendidly. They worked with us to get the best financing available. The only point against them was that they're used to customers who have done lots of research and know exactly what they want. This is my second and final negative experience with the service at Fitzgerald's auto mall. The first was being told I needed to have my rotors turned and brakes replaced when there was absolutely nothing wrong with them as verified by a different GM dealership. This last time I went in for service to resolve no signal on my SiriusXM radio and was told I needed a body shop to repair the roof of my equinox before they could replace a damaged radio base. I took it to a body shop and was told there is nothing wrong with the roof. I took the equinox to the GM dealership in Thurmond and not only got it replaced and fixed but the cost was $200 less than quoted by Fitzgerald. I purchased a new 2022 silverado last month which was one of the worst car buying experiences I have ever had and now I can't get these guys to call me back about getting my tags and paperwork sent to me. Yelp needs to get a zero stars option. because when you review a place like this that's the only honest review you can give. This place airs commercials all the time about how they are "transparent." The only thing transparent about them is how they love to rip people off. I went to buy a car for my teenage son. He found one that he liked and we took it for a test drive. During that test drive, I felt as though there was a problem with the transmission. When we got back to the show room I told the sales person that I thought there was a problem with the transmission. He said that it had been looked at and all necessary work done and it was in tiptop shape. We left without buying and I made an appointment to take the car to see my mechanic. Sure enough, my mechanic said that it needed a new transmission. I took that Report back to the dealership and they still insisted that that was wrong but agreed to discount the car the amount that my mechanic quoted for a new transmission. I chose not to buy the car because I had no idea what else they might have lied about. I will never, ever go back to this dealership. read more

This review is going to be pretty lengthy - cliff notes version is that they are overpriced, defensive about their pricing, and not really focused on long-term customer acquisition. I gave them 2 stars because the assistant manager was polite, the work was done, and the process to get in was pretty painless. Here is the longer story: I am new to Frederick and I thought I would try getting my oil changed and brake work done at a local Mazda dealer, with the hope of finding a quality place to service my car and buy future Mazda's. Doug was able to fit me in for a Saturday morning appointment, and was overall very friendly. When he called Saturday to quote me on the brakes, I thought the quote was high but agreed to the work (that is my mistake). They had to keep the car through Monday to finish everything (which is no problem since they put me in a rental), but when I came to get my car on Monday, I mentioned that I was disappointed in the price. I had bought and taken my Mazda to get serviced at another dealer - Heritage - and remembered the quote being a lot less. When I say "a lot" - FitzGerald charged me over $1100 for brake pads and rotors, and Heritage quoted me $780. Doug asked me to find the quote and send it to him so he could forward to his manager, which I did. I want to repeat - Doug was great, friendly and awesome. He was definitely the highlight of this interaction. The woman standing next to him at the counter, telling me that there is NO POSSIBLE WAY another dealer could have come in cheaper was a bit much - and I did feel vindicated when I sent in the cheaper quote. Again - telling a customer that I must be mistaken is a weird way of delivering customer service, but I thought I'd try to play ball with them and give them the opportunity to earn my continued business. Seth, a manager, called me and asked if he could call Heritage to confirm the quote. I thought that was a little weird - because again I emailed them the quote from Heritage that they asked for - but agreed to his request. He assumed that they didn't provide me with Mazda parts. When he called back he said there is a discount Mazda line and that accounted for the difference of $80 for the parts, and that FitzGerald always installs another part with the brakes which accounts for another $80 (This piece was weird to me because I didn't see another part on the itemized bill, but alright). He offered me a $50 service discount to try to retain me as a customer. To summarize- they took a $300+ price difference and tried to excuse away some of the expense and gave me a $50 service credit. All of this is after both the woman at the counter and Seth both tried to explain that I must be wrong about the parts - that there is NO WAY it could be a similar quote. I believe in being polite to people. When I picked up my car, I politely told them they were overpriced and that I would instead go back to my previous dealer. They asked for proof, I sent them another dealer's quote - and they called that dealer and got the same exact quote themselves - and I feel like they still didn't make it right. The gesture is okay, I suppose - and if I ever feel like getting ripped off again, I'll know where to go. Looks like I will be driving back to Heritage Mazda for my future service needs, and when I am ready to upgrade my current car, I'll know the dealership getting my business. read more

I've had very mixed experiences with this dealership. I've had my car for 4 years now. The sales experience was HORRIBLE and I'd never buy a car from them again, but I do take my Mazda 3 to them for service. I did have a bad service experience with them before, but it really also depends on what representative you get. I try to always book with Chris on the Mazda side and it's wonderful. Everything is explained to me and if something is wrong, he takes the time to go over it, talk about cost etc. While I feel this particular car has been a service hog in terms of repairs, that isn't the fault of the dealer. Do not get an ILoop battery, it will set you back close to $1000 if there's a problem with it and you need a new one for a BATTERY and labor and it takes days to get a replacement. This time around, I needed several service items and new tires, that was close to $2000. I'm just use to our Honda and rarely having to put that kind of money into it, even at 175k miles. My Mazda has almost 75k miles and I've put well over $5,000 in service into this car. So would I buy a car here in the future? No. Will I continue to service my car here? Yes, with appointments with specific service people. Will I every buy a Mazda again? No. read more

I have always been treated very well at Fitzgerald Auto Mall; however, Hani's customer service completely exceeded my expectations. I felt like he listened to my needs and helped me find the perfect car. With so many car options to choose from, it was nice to have a knowledgeable sales representative to walk me through all the options. I had so many questions (in fact I thought I was wasting his time), and he patiently and kindly answered all of them. I never felt rushed and most importantly, I felt well taken care of by Hani. There's no greater feeling than driving out in your new car without any buyers remorse. I am extremely happy and completely satisfied with the service I received at Fitzgerald Auto Mall. Finished oil change + tire rotation & free car wash in about 11/2 hours. $85.00 even though I had a coupon for $69.95. There is a disclaimer on the coupon that some vehicles are extra & the CX5 does require synthetic oil. My issue is that since the coupon came from the MY MAZDA app which has my vin# shouldn't they have factored the need for synthetic oil into the coupon vs a generic "newspaper / money mailer" coupon. Not sure if its a dealership or mfg. issue but it left a little bit of a bad taste. Also, the coupon had no bar code or print option so the Service Rep had to make a copy of my iPhone screen with a copier, lol, so he could attach the coupon to the service ticket. People, it is the 21st century, you can do better c Other than that, everything was great, greeted professionally, free coffee & wifi in waiting room. Free car wash ok and they pulled the car to the door instead of my having to walk to the parking area to get it-nice touch. Very painless straightforward process. The price you see is the price you pay. I tried to haggle and get a couple hundred or something off but they wouldn't budge. If you're looking to make a deal, it is not the place for you. However, if you see a car you like and you see the price, that is what you'll pay. Having experienced the back and forth with haggling at a couple of other dealerships, that is something I'd prefer to never have to do again. I quite liked how simple the process was. Either you buy a car at the listed price or you don't. I really liked the car I was looking at and ended up purchasing. The entire process took about 45-1hr with all of the paper work and everything which was fairly easy and pain free. I recommend seeing Ashley Raup if you're looking for a new/used car. I bought a car here upon the condition that the dealership title and register it quickly, but found their service entirely lacking. Eventually the temporary (60 day!) tags ran out and I found myself saddled with a vehicle that was illegal to drive because the temporary tags ran out and the dealership never went to the DMV to get the permanent plates they as promised to do (and as I paid for). I interacted with multiple employees - clerks, salesmen, and managers at this dealership but found none of them accountable. They all promised time and time again that they would register the vehicle (as I had paid for titling and registration) but in the end they failed and I registered the vehicle myself. This was an incredible inconvenience to me - finding I was unable to drive the car I had purchased because of the failings of this dealership to follow through. You may find a good deal here, but beware - the follow-on customer service is terrible and employees are not held accountable for their failure to deliver services that have been paid for. Might be a little long. Saw a vehicle online and contact them asking if the vehicle was still there. After confirmation that it was I made an appointment to test drive with the intention of purchasing the vehicle. Received a confirmation that our appointment was still on to see the vehicle. Arrived at the dealer and the vehicle had been sold earlier that day. No one bothered to inform me. After arriving they attempted to steer me towards trucks with 30k more miles or higher price tags. Refused to reduce the price of a a different vehicle I was interested it. Refused to discuss any form of discount - beware of the bait and switch these folks use. read more

I had come to Fitz twice before my terrible experience for two typical oil changes/fluid refills that was included with my warranty. Friendly, but they will email you and call you until you fill out their customer satisfaction survey. I was changing my headlight bulb and it began to rain. I could not get the cap back on the headlight unit. Should just screw on with one twist. I quickly drove the one mile to Fitz to kindly ask that they help me do a simple assist before the unit got wet. They informed me that I would have to check my car in and be charged the minimum one hour repair charge which was over $100. I refused telling the manager that this was ridiculous and I was about to bring my car in for an $800 repair and just needed to be told how to do it properly. She refused again. I went to Jiffylube and asked for their help. They gladly helped me at no charge. Fitz lost my (quoted) $800 repair, thank goodness, because I went to a repair shop and had it done for $375. Avoid dealers at all costs. Their hourly rate is too high and they pester you for weeks after to give them top scores on the corporate survey. They lost my business...nice people, bad customer service. read more

Do yourself a favor: if you can avoid interacting with this dealership, AVOID IT. I can not say this strongly enough. It will save you much time and agony if you never interact with them--even to get a quote. We got there because we were looking for a specific model of Subaru, and they had the only one in the area. If there had been ANY other options within two hours of our home, we would have walked out at multiple stages of this agonizing car-buying process. Each time we have interacted with the staff, they have given us different answers to simple questions. They made us return to the dealership (a 45 minute drive) multiple times because they couldn't agree on what we needed to buy the car. Follow-up calls became a frustrating game of hot potato, where we were transferred to at least four different people, received four different answers, and never got problems solved. The last straw for me was when we had finally completed the purchase, and I was sent to the front desk for our keys. I asked, you know: "how to get my car?" and three staff members just sat there, their mouths half full of their lunches. They stared at me in shock and silence, as if I had walked into their kitchen. I had to ask twice. Is this a car dealership or some sort of hidden camera show? After hating every moment of the car-buying process, we are now still suffering from their incompetence because they didn't file (or did file? Not sure, because we got three different answers) our paperwork with DC's DMV. Now we have temporary tags that are about to expire and no permanent plates. read more
