I bought a plan here - a lifetime agreement - that any time I bring my car in, they'll give me a free loaner until the car is fixed. Well, that was money down the drain because I'm not coming back here for service. (The 2nd star is for my friend's fair dealings buying a used Subaru here years ago... That's so not the topic I'll be discussing here.) I had a coupon that brought the cost of an oil change down to what I'd pay outside of a dealership. So I brought it in. A month later, in the dead of January with snow on the ground, I was driving down 270 (something I rarely do as a city driver), and I noticed the car was overheating. The idiot light did not go on, but the gauge was registering in the red. I blasted the heat, and rolled down the windows to pull some of the heat off the engine. It cooled down a bit and the needle came out of the red. Terror. My thoughts: That means the gauge isn't broken. My radiator's probably shot. I don't have the money for this right now. The mechanic asked me when the last time was that I had added coolant. "I have never added coolant." (I always expect this to be done as part of the 'topping off of fluids' that comes with an oil change anywhere.) He laughed at my bourgeois comment, then added (a lot of) coolant carefully, watching to be sure there were no leaks. The car's been running below the red since. Conclusion: The bastids never checked my coolant. Really? You can't top off fluids? I may not know exactly how to change my oil, but I know how to f*&**king add coolant.... How silly of me to expect that THE DEALERSHIP would take care of that with the oil change. This was the last straw (I've had to suggest that they check to see if the radio was sucking energy off of my battery before, something they didn't think to do... It was. They also messed up the leather on my door when fixing a window switch.) I still have oodles of love for Ismael, but the guys out back need both retraining and constant supervision. read more

After having a couple hours to calm down a bit I'm going to erase my angry review, but my opinion is not going to change. I believe they are overpriced, have a strong sense of complacency when it comes to the true satifaction of its service customers as well as an obvious culture of generating high revenue service tickets at the expense of the customer. The customer "care" is mere pandering for corporate approval rating, and not for true service to the customer. I have sat for over an hour twice after the car was done because they failed to close the ticket. And more than once they attempted to sell unwarrented services. I get it, you sell you eat, but I stood and observed 3 other customers being recommended the exact service out of "neccesity" as we were being told by our service writer. And low an behold guess what service was being advertised by Fitz as the special and right at month end close-out too. I understand back of house, and bonuses based on sold services, it's what usually keeps me out of dealerships. Todays bill of near $600 for a tire plug, "brake fluid flush" and rear brake pads, was well over fair. Two hours labor for rear pads is obsene, only matched by an obsene $125 per hour service charge. But the true kicker the $50 shop fee, tacked on at the end is plain out robbery. Match this with the scare tactic you used on my wife that came in for an emergency tire plug during a rainstorm, that was shere evil upsell and for that you have lost any respect from me as a customer, as we bought this car new from here. Had I had the chance to take it to a local independent shop, I can say with certainty that the service ticket would have been at least half, but my wife chose to adress the pending doom of costing even more should she "damage the rotors with her continued use"....mmmm tire plug, rain,more damage... oh no help me Fitzgerald. Hey, we all need to make money, I am in the motorcycle industry for over a decade, I even understand "premium" pricing from a dealership, fine. But this was not a $600 situation, that shop fee should be half and so should the labor time,it pads from crying out loud. As for the "brake flush", hey another revenue generator but not a harmful thing, so no foul. But the rest...that just leaves a bad taste. So the way I see it, if I'm going to piss away $175 in overcharges, I may as well get my opinion heard publicly for it. read more

This is NOT a reliable service center. My Subaru Crosstrek - which they sold me three years ago - had the starter motor die under warranty. They replaced it, but did not correctly replace the solenoid nut or check this, and so a week later the car died again and I had to have it towed (again). The service manager I dealt with at Fitzgerald Rockville, John Nietsee, did not apologize but was instead rude and aggressive. If there had been proper apology and respectful customer service, I might have overlooked the failure to repair my car properly, but maybe not. In any case, they have lost my business now! read more

Overpriced and fairly incompetent service staff. $80 for an oil change... $99 for a cabin filter... I realize dealerships generally charge more, but these are double the prices you'll find elsewhere. I came in for a factory recall, scheduling my appointment online. Clearly they didn't read or prep in any way, since they said they might not have the part and I'd have to come in again later (fortunately though, I guess they had it). Other places I've had my car serviced at least give a courtesy call ahead of time to make sure they understand and have things prepped for the work for the day. Not everyone can bring their car in on a moment's notice. To add to it, I asked them to check a burned out bulb in a taillight. I got the call that my car was ready for pickup, and only at pickup did they tell me they couldn't find the issue. (Wtf, how do you miss that? as a dealer, too!) In any case, they could have called, and I'd have given them more guidance. Now I'm getting spam calls and emails from them to bring my car back for another minor issue they identified... no thanks, I'll be taking care of that elsewhere. read more

Lack of respect for customers' time + dishonest pricing practices + disorganization = AVOID THIS SHOP This service shop is so disorganized and has caused me so much inconvenience, that I have to write this review. I called about bringing my car in for an oil change and they told me I was due for 15K mile service. I asked about the price, was quoted one price and they tried to charge me over $100 more when I picked up my car. Only after speaking with a manager was I able to get any resolution - and even then I had to partially pay for a service that was not included in the 15K service because they had already performed it. Also, the last time I had my car in they were supposed to order some rear seat buttons that weren't functioning properly - a warranty repair. They were supposed to call me when the parts arrived, but never did. When I asked about it this time, they said the parts had been returned because I never came to get them. How was I supposed to know they had arrived? So, they ordered them again, called me the other day to say they were in and we dropped off the car this morning. When my husband went to pick it up, only one of the two buttons were replaced. They said the other was on "special order". When I asked why they didn't wait for the other to come in, the service person said he didn't know because he didn't handle it, but we would have to bring the car in AGAIN once the button was in. This will be the LAST TIME my car sees this shop. read more

I called for an appointment to schedule an oil change, and alignment. They quoted me 1.5 hours. I dropped off the car in the morning, and they quoted 2 hours, and with a car wash an additional 20 minutes, 2 hours and 20 minutes. I returned 3 hours later, and the car was still in the bay, no car wash. The service advisor said it was done. I asked for the report 3 times, I asked for the multipoint inspection 3 times, and they forgot to give it to me. I had to go back to get them after I was driving away. Turns out they didn't adjust the rear at all, and only did a partial alignment. The engine was knocking on gear changes for a day, and I thought I had transmission problems. Here is the worst part, I called and contacted them and left messages 3 times. I never received a response back, and it has been a month. Mr. Fitzgerald, you really need to do something about the lack of customer service, and time management kept by the staff in the Subaru White Flint location. The lack of integrity is hurting the image of your dealership which I think is a great business model. read more

Went in tonight ready to purchase a car. The salesman was friendly, polite and personable, but had no facts on the car and hadn't even reviewed the Carfax and details from the website. He was unable to answer basic questions such as "was this a local trade or purchased on auction?" and "what kind of gas mileage is expected?" I provided him with more details on the car than he did for me. Regardless, I was ready to buy because I loved the car. Then they tried to offer me a laughable rate on my trade. After presenting the salesman KBB, Private party value, a written offer 4x as high from another dealer and quoting a verbal offer from an auto shop who offered to purchase my car for parts, he left to "see" if he could get "a few more dollars" on it. After sitting in at his desk alone for 15 minutes with the sun shining directly into my eyes and being ogled by the other sales staff, I got up, looked for the man who was working with me and he was nowhere to be found. Needless to say I walked out of there. I understand that used car dealerships are notorious for sleazy, underhanded tactics, but this is just plain bad business. I will never return to this or another Fitzgerald Auto Mall. Its really too bad, because they seem to have a great selection of cars. read more

Their service department is the best. It's the only place I will take my Subaru. They are honest, professional, prompt, courteous, and explain things well. Their waiting space is comfortable and it's easy to do work or read or watch tv there while they work on your car. If you want, they can email and call you when they think it's time for your car to have service. I find it really helpful because I can schedule an appointment right then and there, or click the link in email and set it up (I never remember what needs to happen when). These folks have continued to impress and I will keep coming back. read more

This review is for my recent purchase of a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek. I haven't been able to use their services yet, but since I purchased the Maintenance Package, I will definitely update my review once I experience it. I came to this shop as a recommendation from a friend, specifically because there really are no negotiations here. Sticker price is final price, and typically the sticker price is completely fine. My sales representative was Peter Camacho. Peter was very helpful. The process from finding car to driving off the lot took a day. I found the car online in the morning, contacted the shop around noon, scheduled a time to come in later that afternoon, test drove the car that evening, applied for financing and approved shortly after, and drove off the lot that night. All in all the time spent at the shop totaled around 3.5 hours, not too bad considering what I've heard from friends from other locations. Peter was informative and attentive. I didn't have many questions, since I did most of my research prior, but any questions I did have Peter was sure to answer. I also had the experience of a trading in my old vehicle, and I felt they gave me a fare offer for a dealership. Could I have gotten more through private sale? Probably, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle. After negotiating the trade in value of my vehicle, I was very happy that the shop manager agreed to a slightly higher price for my vehicle than originally offered. The experience with the rest of the sales associates, the warranty seller and the financing guy, were equally positive. I can't remember her name but the woman that went over the warranties was great. She went over the basics as expected, but I felt she was very honest with what she would get, or how to avoid needing said warranties. She gave me real world advice about how to keep my car running and looking pretty and at no point did I feel pressured to purchase any additional options. And I didn't. The financing guy was also great, went over Subaru's warranties, again, talked like a real person instead of a "typical salesman", and I only purchased what I knew I wanted to purchase. All in all, the representatives were friendly and more importantly, acted like real people. I felt like the conversations were genuine, and the experience was very positive. If I ever need a new vehicle or have friends looking, I'll definitely know one place I will be recommending. Now, I'm just waiting for later this year when I go in for my first service to the car. Hopefully, the positive experiences continues beyond this one time. read more

What a pleasant experience buying a car from Fitzgerald. Transparent pricing available directly on their website with a no-haggle policy. They will match competitors prices if you find it lower, but generally "at invoice" is what these guys sell at. Of course, look into TrueCar, Costco, etc. in case you can find a dealer going below invoice (sometimes you do). Great communication and no pressure to buy unnecessary warranties and add-ons. I've had 2 experiences now at this dealership both really frustrating. Buying a car: Don't waste your time. When I was looking to buy a car several months ago, the salesperson could not tell me anything about the cars I was interested in beyond the color and the model. It took forever to get to test drive anything and the entire place just seemed completely disorganized. Trying to buy a part for my new car: I bought my car at Stohlman (good service). But because the location is convenient, I called Fitzgerald to order a part. 3 times, I get transferred and nobody answers the phone. This place has now lost 2 potential sales from me because they are just not on the ball. I can't be bothered dealing with them. Go somewhere else. read more

I had a very positive service experience at Fitzgerald Subaru. Getting a service appointment was very easy and we were taken care rapidly. Dustin was our service representative, he was corteous, friendly, attentive to our concerns and very good at explaining what was done to the vehicle. We got the car back within the day and the issues were resolved. Would highly recommend, Dustin, at Fitzgerald Subaru for service needs. The service area is not attractive or comfortable in any way. Unfortunately this dealership is crowded, dirty and very unattractive but but as long as they get the job done well, fast, and their staff is courteous, knowledgable and effective I guess is worth the compromise. read more

So after seeing our Yelp review, we immediately got an amazing turn around in service. Phone calls were returned, and all questions answered - clearly. Suddenly the car was ready, and then wait we are also replacing your tires and we found a few more things to fix at no cost to me. And you are getting 3 keys & key fobs. So kudos for doing the right thing - and making it right, but I feel that people should still know about the problems before the fix.And it shouldn't require a public shaming to make things right. Original review: We bought a used Subaru there on Wednesday - took it to our own mechanic on Thursday. Our mechanic identified problems that should not have allowed it to pass MD inspection. Fitzgerald said no problem, bring it in and we will fix it on Friday (they assured us parts were available, etc.). Dropped it off on Thursday night - and after multiple calls - we likely won't get it until Monday. Oh and when I bought it, they neglected to tell me there was only 1 key - turns out the 2nd key is in their Gaithersburg location- they wanted to put it in regular mail to me. Refused to Fed Ex it, Finally agreed they would get it so when I picked repaired car on Friday I could also get the key.I wonder if the key made it to Rockville? read more

We recently purchased an outback from this dealorship. The experience was smooth and satisfactory. Their price is better than CARMAX. Processing fees, though not the lowest in the state, are reasonable, and they explained well. To our surprised, a few weeks later we received a refund check of ~$50, from over-charged processing fees, and a letter that explains what was miscalculated. That was nice. Also want to recommend a sales person Mr Don Greer, courteous, professional, and quite gentle-non agressive. The first time we visited, he spent ~ 2 hours with us looking through models of our interest, going online to search more from their affiliated stores, and providing recommendations from his knowledge of related models. Unfortunetely there was some mixup: they have two stores next to each other, and we have previously called the other store and were helped by another salesperson before visting this store. so when we came back the second time, the frontdesk suggested that we should work with the first person we talked. I have now bought two Foresters from Fitzgerald. Both times the experience was easy -- good information, no pressure, reasonably fast for a car dealer. The first vehicle lasted 14 years, we'll see how the new one does :-) I also want to mention Kimberly with the Subaru Love Encore Delivery program, where she'll answer any questions you may have 2-6 weeks after purchase. I didn't see much point but was at the dealer picking up my tags and realized there were some features I wasn't completely clear on and hadn't gotten around to reading about in the manual yet. Kimberly gave me a thorough walk-through; I left thinking it was worthwhile after all. read more

Out of visiting over six various Subaru dealers in Maryland this was by far our least favorite experience. First the layout of the parking area and where the cars are kept on display including new and used cars is extremely congested, making way for very limited to a traffic, and especially on a weekend extremely unpleasant to navigate with limited parking available. However, the most negative experience of all was dealing with their rude, rushed, condescending, and unethical customer service. For instance we inquired over the phone and through email about several certified pre-owned Subarus which we were told they were in stock and available for us to look at and even test drive. However upon going there and speaking with one of the certified use car dealers, we were told that both of these vehicles were under recall and not able for us to see them. In addition there is no effort to help find other vehicles that were within our price range or even be flexible to see what they could accommodate. To mention the dealer begin by telling us that we are not informed about the car buying process immediately judging us for our age. Strong and do not recommend going here unless there's no other option given the proximity to DC, Rockville, and Bethesda. Their service may be different here but not a fan of their dealers. read more

Just bought a car here yesterday. I can't say anything on the service department but I can at least say something for sales. I walked in after a discouraging trip at another dealership and wanted to look at the accent. We took it for a test drive and then say down and thought about our options. What I did like, was that I got exactly what I needed to see; the vehicle information, the price, the fees and title included in the price, and rebates, my APR rate, my monthly payments, etc. They are very firm on their price but can do what they can to help you get a lower APR with the bank that will be more affordable for your wallet. It was clear they really wanted to get rid of the 2013 model because they were going pretty low for me. We finally reached agreeable terms and they helped me set up insurance, filled it with a tank of gas, cleaned it. My only con was that the place looked pretty under staffed. Maybe it was my mistake because I did not set up an appointment but my salesman disappeared for a while and we had another one in his place at different times. But he did stay with me, past closing hours, to get the deal made and me and the new car taken care of. read more

Fitzgerald Subaru Service department is terrible. I brought my car in for mandatory air bag recall and it took 3 days. Never received any updates until I finally called and then the Assistant Mgr got defensive. When I finally picked up the car, it was dirty inside and the console was scratched. The manager said he would take care of things, but I had to initiate all communication and, when they replaced the console, it was the WRONG part. I wrote a detailed email to the management team and never heard back from anyone in management. That was a month ago. Clearly, they are not interested in providing quality services; no one contacted me to make it right, apologize, explain or even acknowledge. The service group has a VERY LOW bar that starts at the management level. Would suggest staying away from Fitzgerald Subaru Service. read more

1st thing I have never been here for a major service. That aside I have found everyone very friendly and willing to help. Both trips have been under an hour and right back into my vehicle which was purchased with Fitz of Annapolis. I feel they went the extra mile to get me a new tire on back on. Not sure what all the negative hype is about, all I can say people are quick to complain and let you know that had a bad experience. When things go good we just think that is how it is and not take the time to write a review. I am less than a year in with the Fitzgerald experience but so far so good! read more

Stay away from this place. If I could describe this organization with one word, it would be "deceitful". I purchased a car from the Rockville, MD dealership in November of 2016. This vehicle seemed like a good deal, it was "accident free", their haggle-free price was par with KBB and TrueCar, the vehicle seemed to run fine. Unfortunately, some months later, a car in my neighborhood backed into me and I had to go to the Fitzgerald collision center for an appraisal for body work. This is when things started going south. While I was onsite, a Fitzgerald representative was assessing the damages on my car. When they were done, I received two quotes, one for the current damages, and one for the previous accident. Apparently, they could tell the car was in an accident immediately just by the poorly finished repair job on the rear bumper. I found their determination to be quite peculiar since their own dealership insisted the vehicle was accident free, they even went as far as to show me a clean report from AutoCheck. I decided to do my own research and I determined through CarFax that the vehicle was in an accident several years before I purchased it. Angrily, I filed a complaint to their company and after going back and forth through email, their GM (Greg Lewis) kind of gave me the "well what do you want us to do about it?" run around. He asked if I wanted them to perform the repairs on the vehicle (even though those were already completed, that's how their collision center techs knew the vehicle was in an accident). I explained that I did not want them to do the work a second time, and that I just wanted to give them an opportunity to respond before I filed complaints with the proper government organizations. I also explained that I felt I was steered into buying a damaged car way over its actual value. Greg told me that accidents don't impact a vehicle's resale or market value and was made to feel like my concerns were unfounded. I have since had my vehicle appraised, the value was half of what I purchased the vehicle for, and to top it all off, it was determined that vehicle suffered from frame damage as well as body damage. I hope reading this has helped anyone reconsider doing any form of business with Fitzgerald. I have also kept transcripts of all my correspondence with Greg Lewis, just in case that will help someone not make the same mistake I have. I have since filed complaints as I said I would and I hope that something good will come of this. read more

Sales: I bought my subaru at Fitzgerald's in Rockville almost two years ago. The buying experience was fine. I don't feel like I got any great deal but I also did not feel taken. The salesman (Joel) was courteous and professional and a bit quirky (an attribute I appreciated). I felt no pressure to buy anything I wasn't interested in. Service: So far so good. I've brought my car in a couple of times for routine maintenance (most recently today) and a side mirror replacement. I have been able to wait for most services and one time when it looked like they were too busy to have me wait I was given a free loaner car. The service staff is typically friendly, professional and helpful. I have talked to Rishi twice now and he has been particularly personable. My only complaint is the manner in which customers are greeted. You walk into the service area and it is unclear who can help you. I have to scan the room for eye contact which I find a bit uncomfortable. This setup is not a deal breaker but it would be nice to have a system that indicates who is available to talk to you. read more

I purchased a 2005 Outback Wagon from this dealer in 2005 and just purchased a 2015 Forester 2.5i Touring in mid-August. My salesman was Peter Camacho. I found the atmosphere there to be relaxed, not in the least bit pushy, and not hurried. In particular, dealing with Peter Camacho was a very pleasant experience indeed and I would unhesitatingly send anyone interested in purchasing a Subaru to Peter. I was trading in a 2010 Lexus i250, RWD, manual transmission, and the bargaining over the trade in price went quite well. I had considered trading it in for a 2010 Lexus RX350, but the Lexus dealership offered me a ridiculously low-ball offer for my Lexus and I left. The Venetian Red Forester I wanted was not supposed to be in/available until a week later and somehow they got into the dealership and ready to go almost a full week ahead. I left feeling quite satisfied/pleased at the final price upon which we agreed and if we when we trade in the 2005 Outback, we'll go back there again. read more

Sales Department: both of our family cars are leased from this dealership because of the excellent customer service our family receives every time we walk in those doors. Ben Touray in the sales department is a true example of an exemplary car salesman. He takes the time to listen to your wants, needs and expectations and works off of those to ensure you will receive exactly what fits your needs. When it came time to lease our second family car, we didn't even hesitate to call Ben again. We had the exact same fantastic customer service from Ben the second time as we did the first time. The entire sales department is absolutely fantastic. They are also extremely kid friendly and have a play area to keep kids entertained. This review is for purchasing a new 2015 Subaru Forester only. I will be taking this vehicle back for upcoming routine services but I will now only comment on my experience that I had with the salesman.... John Moldiz. Mr Moldiz was extremely helpful when it came to answer questions and risen concerns thru the entire process. I was in and out in a matter of 3 hours! bloody quickly compare to other experiences and even though I came to purchase an used vehicle but left driving a new one; decision made only by me and not a pushy salesman! It all started by picking the vehicle from the Cars.com app and once I asked to be contacted by the dealer I received a call from John and I was able to stop by a couple of days later for a test drive (I was out of town to do so before then). by the way save time at looking at used Subaru vehicles, they hold up their value extremely good and saving money by financing a new one is the logical thing to do; monthly payments almost as much as an used one with a higher interest rate. Friendly people, but service is badly over priced. Recently brought in my 15-year old Subaru, due to a check-engine light issue. After spending $122 for a diagnosis, was told the repair would cost about $2,600 (to replace a defective fuel pressure sensor). Instead, took my vehicle to Certified Auto Repair a couple miles up the road in Rockville, where they did the job for $1,185. Also inquired about cost of new timing belt. Fitzgerald price: $1,700. Price elsewhere: $1,000 or less. Unless you lots of extra cash you'd like to part with, go elsewhere for your service needs. read more

It was pretty complicated with three recalls, some lights out, timing belt replacement , etc. but it got done in 2-3 days (had to wait on one minor part). He even saved me some bucks. For example I was given a $468.00 estimate for changing oil cooler o-ring. $368.00 for replacing upper and lower radiator hoses. $1250.00 for changing timing belt +few more items + was given additional quote for labor. Without labor the amount of repair was 2,383.95!! Called another Subaru dealer in the area - categorically cheaper for each itemized repair. Ended up paying $1,278.64 and it included labor !!! + received a car on loan. I was also told by a Fitzgerald representative that replacing an O ring involved complicated mechanical assembly-which was refuted by the other Subaru dealer who charged me only $110.00 as opposed to $468.00. This is almost 1/2 the price and all I had to do was drive my car to Silver Spring!! Can't imagine why anyone would want to take their car to Fitzgerald and pay extra $1,000.00!!! read more

Mom's purchase of a 2017 Forrester, slightly used w/ 7000 miles in the Spring 2017 has been fantastic. Now that the honeymoon is over & time has past, she is very pleased with the car and exceptional service from the Service Department. I live 350 miles away and have had no concerns about her transportation needs. I can't rate the overall experience quite yet because they are currently giving my car a 30K mile service. But I can comment on the fact that they insisted my wiper blades needed to be replaced. I asked them how long the replacements would last and the service salesman Paul told me a couple of years. I said great! But don't replace them, because the replacements I put on the car six weeks ago are still good. Moron. I don't trust these guys one bit. The only reason I brought it to a Subaru dealer was because it was for the 30K service. I am open to local mechanics suggestions for the DC area @ #notfitzautomall read more
