I needed to replace my 2005 Outback and Shane Wiltshire was incredibly helpful in identifying my requirements and matching them to their current Subaru models. I wanted the cargo space of an old Outback with hybrid technology. The Subaru Hybrid Crosstrek has a smaller cargo area, which Shane pointed out. The Forester was the closest match to my requirements and doesn't come in a Hybrid. There was no pressure from Shane or Sales Manager Ken McAlpine to make a decision. They would help me get a Forester next day if that was what I wanted. I visited the Fitzgerald Toyota dealership in Gaithersburg and found the same no-pressure, helpful salesmanship with Chris Collins. I decided on a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. My fiance and I went in to Fitzgerald a few weeks ago looking for a 2015 Impreza. We have a membership which allows us to go through Subaru's VIP purchase program which requires us to go through a sales manager first. We walk in and introduce ourselves to the manager. He promptly walks us over to a sales person (which is fine) and states loud enough for us to hear 'I'm too tired to deal with them. They're all yours.' (not fine in any way shape or form!) Ok, maybe he was having a bad day. We sit down and describe what we are looking for and do the test drive. We confirm the model and options we want. They don't have it but say they will try to get it from another dealership. Ok, no problem. For the next two weeks, everytime I called to check I heard the same thing, 'We're sorry, but the car we were trying to get you when we called on Monday sold Tuesday.' or something very close to it. Everytime it was the same thing. The car sold the next day. How is that possible? We left a deposit, everything. After getting frustrated another sales manager got involved and called me on a Wednesday. Said he was stepping in to get us our car and would call me back by Friday evening at the latest. I waited until Saturday afternoon. I called another dealership and explained what we wanted. They told me they didn't have it and would have to get the car from another dealer. (same as what Fitzgerald told us). HERE'S THE DIFFERENCE!!! Two days later my fiance and I had our car. I asked the dealer to call the place they got it from and ask if they had gotten any calls from Fitzgerald, which our sales person did. No calls from Fitzgerald, they didn't even try. This is a great example of service recovery! I have been a Fitzgerald customer for years. I've bought two new vehicles from them and have referred several people. I always used their great service department as well. I had one letdown, though. One service tech forgot to properly replace the oil plug and all of the oil drained out midway through a road trip across the country. Luckily another Subaru dealer in Washington, PA came to the rescue. When I called Fitzgerald to get this resolved, I was rudely rebuffed by som. After writing a negative review, Lester, the service manager called me personally to apologize and resolve the situation. I was here waiting for an oil change when the staff walks in with two boxes of pizza. We bought so many cars over the last 40 years but this one by far is the best experience we had from A to Z. We went to the dealership at closing time around 5pm and we were approached by Noah one of the sales people. We informed him we are not sure what we are looking for since my wife was involved in an accident and her car was totaled. He was so laid back and gave us his business card and said we can fill the credit application on line, which we did that evening. The next day Noah called us and had brought us the car from different dealership to our request for specific color combination we were looking for. When we arrived to the dealership the next day, the car was detailed and washed and we were in and out including financing and all the paper work in 3 hours total. Noah went through details on all the features in the new car and was very professional and polite. I told my wife, this is the only dealership I will by cars from in the future., I own a small business in Bethesda and will definitely recommend Fitzgerald Subaru to all my employees and clients, don't forget to ask for Noah in sales or Felipe Teixeira one of the mangers. It was very refreshing to come to this place, get reasonable, friendly service, be quoted a reasonable price, and not get high-pressure follow-ups. I think I'm buying a Honda instead, but wish I were buying here because all the Honda dealers I've dealt with have been so annoying. Sales: 3 out of 5 Service: Unknown yet Just bought a used Subaru here. Friendly sales people. OK: 1. Price, got a slightly better deal than Carmax but very limited inventory on used and new Subaru's. We lucked out. They seem to be stocking up on Hyundai line up. Area of improvement: 1. Knowledge of their product. The sales person did not know where the tethers for the child safety seats went. He also didn't know what all the buttons on the front console (radio, navigation, etc) did. Maybe he was a Hyundai guy in Subaru clothing. 2. Customer Orientation: The lobby is kinda old and not many creature comforts. The sales "bullpen" is just that. Expecting a better ambiance than the sales 'factory of Carmax'. 3. Pricing: be wary of last minute errors on their price sheets. Even though they make you wait a long time to work up the price quote at the end of the deal minor error not in your favor may pop up as it did with us. Stick to your guns. Tell them we had a deal and get up to leave. They will honor their deal but not with out you asserting yourself. Get those price quotes in writing and hold on to them until the final signing. 4. Sales Pitches: They try to sell you their Maintenance package for $695 but this is just paying them to perform regular "inspections" where they will find things that they recommend repairing. Don't fall for that. Most shops do inspections for free with the likelihood that some people actually do want work done. Save your money. Get a good mechanic. Their Yelp reviews for Service aren't good anyway. 5. I did buy an extended warranty because it was a 2 year old vehicle. Otherwise Subaru's have an excellent reliability reputation read more

The car just happened to be EXACTLY what I was looking for and in great condition from top to bottom with low miles and for a great price.. Anthony and Jay R were very helpful and kept me informed of the cars progress as it went through their reconditioning process and negotiating a good deal.. Update: Fitzgerald contacted us the very next day after we posted the review and offered to fix the bumper. It would take 3 days and would require the entire bumper to be repainted. While I am sure that the auto shop would have done a fine job, we do not really want to risk having our bumper turn out a different shade of color, however small that risk might be. We appreciate that Fitzgerald reached out to us (hence the 3 stars), but we hope the same thing won't happen to anyone else. _____________________________________ My husband and I bought a WRX at Fitzgerald and the sales experience was great all the way until the point when the dealership decided to drill extra holes on our front bumper to fit the license plate. There are already existing holes but apparently they only fit the Japanese license plate. You can easily, however, buy an adapter to make use of the existing holes. Being first time owners of a Subaru, we did not know that "installing" a plate meant drilling extra holes. We thought it would just involve screwing the plates in. We would never have let them touch the car if we knew that was what was going to happen. Fitzgerald will tell you that they do that for all cars. But it would be nice of them to warn the customer before they do something as drastic as drilling holes in the bumper. The service manager not only did not offer us an apology, but defended the actions of his tech guy, who incidentally told us that it was his first time installing a plate on a WRX. And for that, this whole experience warrants a one star rating. Sure, extra holes that will be covered by the license plate anyway may not be such a big deal to most people, but we are proud WRX owners and we put a lot of time, effort and money customizing every aspect of the car. Having ugly holes put in our bumper meant that we no longer have the option of relocating the plate, and aftermarket bumper plugs probably won't fit the carelessly drilled holes either. Fitzgerald obviously does not know and does not care. I would never dare take our car there for any sort of servicing if that is the type of flippant attitude they take with their customers. I would say that buy your car from Fitzgerald if you can get a good price, but take your car somewhere else for servicing or repairs. There are at least a couple of auto body shops in the area that specialize in Subaru cars and care more about their customer's car than Fitzgerald! read more

Service Department Review: Fitzgerald White Flint Service Department is all about volume. They take in as many cars as possible. The intake is like a rental car system with two lanes and quick check-in. THEN! The service manager tells everyone that they may need to keep the car a day or two because they may have problems getting parts. Meanwhile, they know they can have any and all parts delivered within the hour. This allows them to fill up their service lot with cars and work through them. So, even if you check in at 7 am, they may not even look at your car until that afternoon. The Service Department has a loaner car program, but they are selective about who they offer loaners. Typical dealer Service Department, they give you an update suggesting new tires, battery, oil change, etc. trying to sell additional services. read more

I never knew buying a new car could be stress-free! I bought a new Forester from this dealer yesterday - and it was actually a pleasant experience. My salesman (John Moldiz) was knowledgeable and attentive, without any hard sell at all. He explained the various model options, and listened to what I wanted. I was trading in my old car, and the dealership explained how they arrived at the trade-in value, which was totally fair. Going through the paper-signing ordeal, oddly enough, wasn't a big deal. He explained the options well, gave me time to ponder, and didn't press. And "mom" (I'm sorry, I didn't catch her name) was wonderful in providing conversation, water, and treats. All in all, it took 4 hours and 15 minutes from the time I walked in the door until the time I drove away, happy in my new car. It doesn't get much better than that. read more

The people at the service department are friendly, and they are willing to resolve issues very quickly in professional manner. My service advisor, Mr. Shubham Garga, was courteous and helpful, as well as the Service Director, Mr. Lester Abel. The service area, waiting room and loaner department are clean. Complementary bottled water are also provided in the waiting room. A clean, new loaner car was provided free of charge during the length of the service. I brought in my 2006 Subaru Legacy for the passenger airbag recall repair on 30th June, 2017 at about 8:00 AM. The work was done by around 4:00 PM on the same day. However, after receiving the car, I found cracks on the top area of the dashboard where the passenger airbag is, and scratches below the speedometer area of the dashboard. In addition, the check engine light was also on. After reporting this to the Service Director and advisor, they took back my car. They fixed all the issues by around 3:00 PM the next day. A new dashboard was installed free of charge. read more

Peter and Peter were both awesome! Peter Comancho is the man and was such a great help from start to finish. Another gentleman, Maurice, also helped me out and followed up via email, great guy, Maurice! They do not haggle prices, the only things they sell are their own service and protection plans, and they went above and beyond to help me get my APR to a rate I agreed with by shopping around. If you want a high paced, aggressive sales experience, look elsewhere. If you want a place that is at your pace, with your terms, come here. This review is specifically for the Subaru Sales Department. We had the best experience with our car buying purchase. After emailing and calling multiple dealerships to find the best price for the car we wanted, we ended up going with Fitz White Flint for a number of reasons. At first, we went to another dealership, as they offered us a great price on a car, but when we got there (this dealership was very far from our house by the way), they tried to low ball us on our trade in, when over email, they had said they would match our current trade in offer. Fed up with dealerships that tried to pull fast ones to make an extra buck, we called Fitz Subaru to see if they could help us out. Charles, the sale manager was phenomenal -- he was very responsive and very helpful throughout the entire experience. They didn't have the exact car we want (we wanted a black 2014 Impreza Sport Limited), but he was more than happy to locate possible options for us. He was able to locate 2 cars for us and also said that he would be able to beat or match our current trade in offer. We stopped by the dealership the same day to get our car appraised, and he kept his word - he was able to match our trade in offer, without trying to low-ball us. Not only that, he greeted us with a very warm welcome and huge smile -- like we were friends, and not just customers. He then handed us off to our sales consultant, Kimberly, who was amazing to work with. She listened to what we wanted in a car and was not pushy at all with just trying to sell us a car and push us to sign papers. She was so nice and friendly! Our priority was getting a car that we wanted, within our budget. Kimberly worked with Charles and another Sale Consultant, Peter, to come up with a couple of options for us and we left that night while they worked on getting the car for us. It felt so nice to know that we had a whole team working for us. The team worked tirelessly to find us the right car and get the car transferred. They turned around the request in 24 hours, and we are now the very happy and proud owners of a new Subaru Impreza. I can't say enough how wonderful the experience was. I usually have to haggle my way from dealership to dealership to get a good price on a car, as I'm a bargain shopper. But when we got to Fitz, I didn't even have to tell them about the current offer we were considering, or ask them if they could beat it. They were able to beat the offer on the same car by more than $500. With the good pricing, as well as the honest and straight forward approach that they take with their customers, I will definitely come back to Fitz for our next car. We bought a used 2011 Subaru Forester from another dealer in Virginia, and have had it serviced twice at Fitzgerald now... Fitzgerald is the Subaru dealer I can walk to from my condo, I love that I can walk to my car dealer. Anyway, the second time I scheduled service at Fitzgerald, I asked if they could install some after-market under-body aluminum skid plates (from Primitive Racing) for me. Fitzgerald was happy to, and installed them well, and at a pretty reasonable price for the labor involved, I think. So they got my trust from that... my Forester hasn't broken down yet, we actually don't drive it that often it's a Turbo with the old 4-speed transmission and it gulps up premium fuel, so I have no idea how Fitzgerald does with repairs, but I'm pleased Fitzgerald installed those special skid plates for me, in just a few hours and without price-gouging me for it. The main skid plate actually has to be taken off for oil changes, but they said they wouldn't mind doing that at all -- while apparently this after-market aluminum plate is actually easier to take on and off than the stock plastic one that Subaru puts on there, because it's a very simple bolt-on thing--it's not a standard part, so I'm still pleased they'll do this for me. read more

This is where you should get your Subaru serviced. Probably your Hyundai, Izuzu or Kia too! We all "know" that it's cheaper to get you car serviced at a small shop rather than at the dealer. Well, this dealer has come through for me half a dozen times. Most recently, service manager Lester saved me over $1500 on a repair! $1500! I tried a local shop last year and their price was actually higher than Fitzgerald. I can't speak of other locations, but the Rockville Pike location has a perfect team, from service writers, to guys moving the cars, to loaners. And it all starts with a great management. Nobody is perfect, but this is the most honest and reliable service shop in the area. read more

I have never written a review before but feel that I need to for this car dealership. I was in the market for a new car and had been in touch via phone with a salesman. He was very difficult to reach. I set up and appointment to test drive the car. I liked it and was very happy with the car.. I was told I could put a 500$ deposit to hold it for 3 days. I wrote the check. That gave me time to test drive the other 2 cars I wanted to rule out. Then it was "i need to speak with my manager". I was told i had to decide on the spot. I refused.Then "I have to go speak with my manager" again. I was told he could hold it for 24 hours. Not good enough. I was frustrated because the salesman was not scheduled to work the following day and I would lose 500$. So I left. I decided later that the deal offered was good so emailed and phoned the salesman the following day. And he NEVER called or emailed me back. EVER. Someone on Yelp said it best-the folks there seem bored and that they really don't want to earn any money. To top it off. I found out later that the price he quoted and the car I almost bought was NOT the car I test drove. He understood what I wanted and the reasons I needed automatic seats. it was only when I spoke with another dealership that I realized he quoted me a price, and prepared paperwork, for the wrong car! So glad I did not leave 500$ with them. OR buy the car! All in all it was an awful experience. read more

I scheduled to get a maryland state inspection and i show up to find out they cannot do it after i already spoke to someone on the phone earlier that day. Ridiculous. Did lease a new Forester. Mid Aug. The sales process was ok, the sales person even stayed late to finish up the sale. Another person more familiar with features, settings , etc. provided nice help. It was nearing close to 30 days, first pymt due,nothing in the system and no paperwork back from Suburu Leasing. After multiple calls it was discovered the original lease agreement had sent back to the store, not entered yet by Suburu Leasing.It was located in a stack of mail here and we re-signed a new lease. It was remailed. We made first pymt on time! Its important for us to pay on time and maintain a good credit rating.The difference in base monthly pymt increased 8 cents. Monthly sales/use tax plus 20 cents. Yes ,grand total of plus 28 cents per month caused a long delay. My guess is the delay slowed permanent tag and title work . I do know after calls again back and forth,messages, the permenent registration with tag did arrive 3 days before temp tag expired in mid Oct. Nerve wracking for a first buying experience with Fitzgerald Suburu/Hyundai in Rockville. The general mgr pulled it together at the end, did offer free service to compensate us. How often do you get your first Suburu , switching brands & dealership? I truly hope the experience with Fitzgerald Suburu will be positive going forward. read more

I can't express how extremely disappointed I am with the experience I had at Fitzgerald Subaru in Rockville MD, I called on Monday inquiring about a car I saw online listed at an amazing price. they tell me the car was being reconditioned and would be available on Thursday or Friday at the latest. I contact them on Thursday they said it would ready Friday and I would be the first person they would call to come see the car. I received a call Friday telling me that the car is available to test drive. I reminded them that I live an hour and half away and that I was on my way. they said that they already have an appointment to see the car at that time (I was perplexed because they said I would be the first to see the car and already had an appointment lined up) they said I could come just in case they don't purchase the car and if they happen to buy the car they would call me to let me know so I could turn around. I get there and they tell me that the person still has the car, seriously test driving for HOURS? I was then told the customer took the car to their mechanic to get it checked out and if they mechanic gives the approval then she would purchase the car. they immediately started pushing other cars they wanted to sell me ( they knew I was paying cash) I told them I would wait around since I drove an hour and half to be there and wait to hear what happens. they called me about 2 hours later to tell me that the car failed inspection and they cant sell the car, they had previously told me the car had passed inspection. I reached out to them the next day about the car as a different customer interested in the car and they said the car was available and I could schedule a time to see it. FRAUD it's clickbait they lure you in with a car listed at a great price with decent miles for the year and when you get there they have an entire story I never got to see the car in person. I would never go back to this dealership. I hope whoever reads this makes sure they have the car available to test drive and I recommend you getting it inspected before purchasing any of their vehicles read more

Our experience with Fitzgerald Subaru was extremely frustrating. We test drove a new vehicle there last fall and established a good rapport with Constantine Wickramasinghe. When we contacted him at the end of the year for updated quotes and availability, his response was uncharacteristically slow. We reached out to other Subaru dealers in the meantime. Constantine responded a couple days later with a written quote that was competitive on price and vehicle features. We contacted him immediately by phone to express our interest. He informed us he was leaving on vacation for a month and directed us to work with Peter Zurkowski the following day to reserve the vehicle since it was in transit to the dealership. We informed both Constantine and Peter that another dealer had offered a comparable quote but also included a free lifetime service package. I sent the competing quote and service plan details to Peter and asked if Fitzgerald could match the service coverage. He responded in writing, "Yes we can match all of those benefits. They word it a little differently but we can assure you that you will get the same value and benefits." We requested written confirmation of the service coverage, and offered to make a deposit as soon as we received it. Over the following weeks, we attempted without success to secure this information from Peter and his sales manager, Charles Rose. During this time, we did not receive a single accurate (e.g. incorrect vehicle, incorrect pricing) or complete response. We were told the vehicle was being reserved in our name and we reminded them that the sale was contingent on the service coverage. After 9 requests and repeated assurances that the details were forthcoming, Peter finally notified us by email on the day the vehicle was originally scheduled to arrive that Fitzgerald would not match the service coverage. We have not heard from him since. Neither Greg Lewis, Fitzgerald's general manager, nor Constantine (who has since returned) have responded to our messages. We have no explanation why Fitzgerald did not want this sale to proceed despite the fact that they offered the price, vehicle and assurances of service coverage, but Fitzgerald has made it abundantly clear that they have no concerns about misleading us or wasting our time in the process. read more

This review is an update regarding my previous review and I must say I was wrong about Fitzgerald Subaru. I recently had to follow up my maintenance plan and when I was unable to reach anyone so I left a messages hoping someone would call me back. A day or so later I receive a call from the general manager himself, Mr Greg Lewis, and I must say I was impressed with his professionalism. He made sure before he left that day to follow up on my request and provided me with his personal number if I had any questions.
