My dad brought us here while we were boating on Lake Wisconsin. Very nice docks for boat parking was a plus. There was an abundance of patio seating available and we were seated at a picnic table with a view of the lake. We started with the Brussel sprouts appetizer and it was amazing!! Highly recommend this. I had fish tacos and I was perfectly satisfied. The burger looked really good, and my dad raved about his fish sandwich. My sister liked the shrimp tacos. All in all, it was a decent meal for decent value. I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area. read more

Beautiful location. But not a fan of their dog policy. We drove from Madison to have lunch on the water here. When I asked about our dog joining us for lunch on the outside deck. Got a big no! The man running the grill said two dogs had a fight, because of that , no dogs allowed anywhere on the property. I get it, it's there bar, but that sure seems like a overreacting to me of one bad instance. Our dog had to stay in the car on a very hot day as we quickly eat and leave. read more

Went there in September. Wife ordered a salad which was supposed to have pecans, feta cheese and assorted greens. It came with no cheese, one kind of lettuce and no pecans. Sent it back and they put some feta on the salad and brought it back. They should have started over. Got the bill and paid with credit card. They charged me $1.40 for using my credit card. This place has really gone down hill. I don't recommend this restaurant. read more

Great place for lunch while in Wisconsin. Great food, friendly staff, views of Lake Wisconsin. I highly recommend the patty melt and onion rings. Have a cup of black bean soup before the burger and you have one heck of a meal, all at reasonable cost. They have a nice bar, of course Packer (not Bears) game specials. This place isn't the five star restaurant it used to be but still ok. If you can find a parking spot. We were here on a Sunday at around six and there was parking and there seemed to be enough waitstaff. Our server was fine but the food and drinks came out slow. It wasn't that busy so who knows why? They were out of the "famous " haddock cakes so I got the fried chicken. It was a full halve a chicken in three pieces that were so heavily battered that it looked like a puff pastry. Really weird looking but once the breading was off it was ok. Not great but ok. It came with an ear of corn that must have been previously frozen because the texture was mushy and the flavor kind of musty tasting. Why do places serve that, especially when it's sweetcorn season in this area now? Most of my party of four were not too impressed with the food but ate what they could and grumbled about it. It was still nice being on the bay on this summer day which is the best part of Fitz's. read more

A weekend ago, my friend and I decided to go out to dinner at Fitz's On The Lake as it seemed like a great place to have an evening dinner on Lake Wisconsin. My friend and I decided to order a side salad and a New York Strip steak and split the steak order. We are not big eaters and this is what we normally do. Our meal arrived and everything looked good. That is until we started to split the steak. Upon doing the splitting of the steak, it looked a little gristly to begin with. One half the steak was very gristly. My friend had chosen that piece and she tried to eat it but kept putting the gristle pieces on a side plate . She soon was finished and all she had was a pile of gristle. I offered her some of mine even though that was really not much better. When the waitress came back to check on us we pointed this out to her. My friend showed her the gristle accumulated on the side plate that she was unable to consume. The waitress took it and said she was going to show it to the cook. When she returned later, she never said a thing about what happened. Bottom line is that 12 oz steak did not contain much edible meat. The waitress returned later and gave us the bill. I somewhat expected it to have a token discount on it for the terrible steak. Or at least some acknoweldgement of the issue. None! I paid the bill and also shared the poor steak issue with the gentleman managing the cash register. He said he would talk to the cook. End of that conversation. Upon leaving I asked another waitress who that person was.....She said the owner. Wow! Fortunately there are plenty of other good restaurants in the Lake Wisconsin area to visit in the future, and Fitz's will not be one of them. read more

My friend and I popped in on a Friday night fish fry. We put our name on the list we're given an hour wait time as larger groups who put their names in after us were seated. I asked about our table once it was an hour and twenty minutes in and they had 12 names crossed off after us including 4 tops and 6 tops. Completely disrespecting us. We each tried the mix, one baked, one fried. The baked was really dry, and the fried was fried. Neither were seasoned well. A glass of water spilled & we were given 5 paper napkins. A few minutes later, once our server appeared again, we requested a towel. There was still a bit of water on the table throughout the evening. A pile of napkins was left on our table to make us feel unwelcome. Our server did not offer to refill the water, or any beverages. We asked for more water when we saw the server again after we were done eating. I will pass on this message to anyone who asks. read more

I am not one to review harshly unless warranted. The bloodies were completely watered down and bland & the chaser was extremely warm. A pomegranate mimosa tasted Like hot cough syrup. Ate lunch at Fitz's. If you're lucky enough to get a table with a view of the lake it's a nice, relaxing view. Waitress was good, friendly. It wasn't busy so the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Haddock cake sandwich was good no sides, sandwich only $14.00. Two piece deep fried haddock plus fries $19.00. We thought the prices were high for what you get. They add a surcharge if you pay by credit card. I wanted to order the salad bar but after looking at, I passed as it wasn't anything special. The place was a little run down. Could be quite nice but the owner needs to put some money into it. There were a couple bees and flies flying around and landing on our table but I guess if you eat outside that is hard to avoid. We are here visiting family on the lake. We have been twice now in 4 days. I have to say, I am very happily surprised how good the food is. Our servers are also very nice. The avocado appetizer is delicious. The Bloody Mary and Brandy Old Fashioned to die for. We had fish tacos, haddock cake, burgers, Fish fry, salads, Reuben, and wings. All good. Very cute location on the lake. We arrived around 4:30 with a party of 5 plus a highchair and there was just enough room to seat us. Rumor is its gets very busy at dinner time and as we ate, it did fill up quickly. It took some time for the waiter to come over and he seemed skiddish, like it was his first day. Regardless, he did a good job. Our highchair straps were broken so he helped quickly exchange for a new one. Most of us ordered the all you can eat breaded haddock fish fry with one side, Cole slaw and bread. The cole slaw was great, bread was great, au gratin potatoes were good- they were very creamy and cheesy but seemed to be old. The fried haddock tasted great. It was a very thick fish. I can't forget about the tartar sauce which was awesome! You start with two fish and can have as many as you want for $13.99 on Fridays. It was a little tough to get the second round of fish, it took long and didn't taste as good. Check it out, the view of the lake is nice too! read more

It's infrequent but when it happens it's like getting splashed in the face with ice cold water. This place was awful. The waitress did not realize she was supposed to serve us. Then she pulled something out from my beer after she brought it to our table. I asked her about it and she responded with attitude. Service gets an F grade. The food was okay. My burger was not cooked well and had little flavor. No one at my party raves about the food. I would not recommend this place. read more

I first went to Fitz on the lake in 2014 with some friends passing through the area, and recently returned and made sure to come back and visit since our experience was so great the first time. We had the potstickers for an app, and they were alright but probably wouldn't get them again. Other than that the food and drinks were excellent and the staff was great! Terrible Bar service. Ordered drinks, said pay now or start a tab. Since only one drink, gave credit card to pay. Bartender ran charge, gave to sign. Signed, then no drinks. After 5 minutes, finally noticed that no drink was served, then served wrong beer. Offered wrong beer, but declined as ordered premium beer. Then waited another 5 minutes for Grasshopper, an ice cream drink. learned it was made in another area, went there to see what was up. Found owner filling ice cream machine and asked him where was my drink, he said filling ice cream machine there soon. i just said, well nice to know as paid for drink and now 20 minutes and no one said anything but 'it's coming'. Went back to bar. Then he comes over to me and says i was not very nice that i should wait. I just said, well we were made to pay for drinks before we got them and then they were wrong and didn't come! To which he says I should be 'kind' to his staff and I was rude . In fact I was not the kind of customer he wanted and to get out. The bartender then threw $10 at me (cost of Grasshopper). To which I want all my money back He opened the till and threw the rest at me! We have been regular customers there for many years and have never been treated so rudely. Especially by the owner. I assume he was having a bad day, but see from other reviews this is the norm for him. We will never return and will make sure our friends will not as well. Too bad. read more

Love this place. GREAT outdoor ambiance, great fish. It is PRICEY fish fry with salad is around 20$. Salad has a 3.00 up charge. That's a lot. Parking is a pain but even so, Fitz's calls us back. While the fish is good, the crowds are enough (waitresses are really busy and people are waiting) that it might make a better lunch or weekday place. read more

We came here for dinner on a Monday night. It was not busy, although there were several other tables. We ordered the haddock cakes, and they were delicious. The salad bar was good, with plenty of veggie options, and I appreciated that they had spinach and other lettuce greens rather than just iceberg. We got the special okee-dokee dessert, which is truly incredible and decadent. We got the small size, which was more than enough for two of us to share. We came in late October, so too cold to sit outside. We would love to come back in the summer sometime and enjoy the view of the lake. read more

It is the special....bonus. Fish fry was on point, very good. I ordered bang bang chicken and coco shrimp, well 18.99 for a half of chicken breast and 2 shrimp is no bueno. This used to be, hands down, the best spot to eat on the Lake. No longer. Broasted Chicken, great burger, blackened prime rib, great salad bar, decent old fashioned, fun and friendly staff. Howie and Asta did it right. New guys...not so much. Took away all of the above. Terribly limited menu and unfortunately now pretty crappy drinks. No salad bar offered with the very overpriced special of the day, because it comes with a vegetable. What? NO BROASTED CHICKEN?!!! Come on, just deep fried with no seasoning? What is with all the crap in the corner of the dining room? Looks awful. The new chairs that match nothing were not the best way to spend some money, maybe fix the tile in the bathroom with a tile, not duct tape. Went on a Friday, and it is lord-of-the-flies crowded. People fighting over space to order drinks, and outdoor waiting space. We were sitting at the bar, and waited over 15 minutes with empty glasses in front of us. No dice. Not enough bartenders, who were both hustling. When our table was ready, we figured it would be easier to order with waitress. Our hostess sat us after a 40 minute wait and... Nothing. No water, no bread, no waitress. For 15 minutes. So I smile and wave and flag down a manager and he sends somebody over to take a drink order. She says it is not her table, but happy to get us drinks. Erica will be right over. Another 10 minutes. I'm paying attention because we've been here over an hour, I haven't had a drink of anything For 40 minutes, and we still haven't ordered. Erica shows up, says she is sorry to make us wait, she "was screwing around upstairs making okie dokies." Her words. I don't even know what this means. The food was good, the salad bar was great, the drinks were mixed well. Two people will spend $50 including tip for fish fry and one drink. But I won't do it a second time here.... This place is not packed because it is good, it's packed because tourists in cabins nearby. Not worth the trip unless you live next door, I guess. read more
