You know how it goes - when there's a big group, it's practically impossible to agree on what to eat for lunch. People get annoyed and are ready to throw down because no one can make a decision. Pizza? The places were still closed.. Chinese? No, too much MSG. Broke ass buffet down the street? Hell no. The men remembered passing by a Five Guys, thankfully, and offered to pick it up. We pulled up the website, wrote down our desired toppings and contently waited until they came back. Customization? I dig. I've been to the Five Guys in Chicago and, while I was happy with my experience, there was just something deeply amazing about these burgers. My 'little cheese burger' (one patty as opposed to two patties) was topped with grilled onions, mushrooms, bbq sauce and jalepenos! Heavenly, I tell you. They give a crapload of fries, so you don't really need to order that many for a big group. So, thanks Five Guys! We were all satisifed and ready to celebrate our friend's wedding in a good mood. Five Guys rocks! This is my favorite burger place in the North. The price is great and well worth the burgers and fries. Please be aware of the size of burger you order. If you order "little" cheese burger-the burger is actually the regular size. And the "regular" cheese burger is two patties on a bun. Plus-the fries portion is ginormous! The burgers are greasy (just like the way they should be) and the condiments are fresh and fabulous! The lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and mushrooms are served at no additional charge. Ahh 5 guys how I miss you so. The little bacon cheeseburger was huge so you can imagine what the regular bacon cheeseburger looked like. I would usually get mine the same way made with grilled mushrooms, extra grilled onions, extra jalapeno peppers and mustard. OMG! heaven on a bun. Oh and the fries, they would always post where the fries were from that day and they were always fresh. A large order of fries is good for two people to share. Heck come to think about it a regular order of fries is good for two people to share. Just all around fattening and delicious! Definitely a treat! I have been to my fair share of Five Guys locations and while most of them are at least good, this one is GREAT! I typically frequent this location at least two to three times per week and there is typically the same gentleman working the register/taking your order and though I don't go in that often, as soon as I open the door, no matter who he is helping, he makes sure to say hello to me. The burgers here are absolutely fantastic. They are perfectly done and have the perfect amount of condiments. The only thing I wish this location would add is the CocaCola Freestyle machine (if you haven't seen one of these, you are definitely missing out) that is at another nearby Five Guys. People rave about the burgers. They are very good. They are also cooked medium well, as an industry default. Keeps your burgers consistent from Five Guys to Five Guys. The serving size for the fries is huge. Get a large, and share with your group. Food is very good, atmosphere is good, they serve birch beer, and peanut shells can be swept on the floor. read more

You know what to expect, it's the standard burger place. I'm not a beef eater, so my review is absent the influence of the meat. What I usually get is a grilled cheese and some fries, and while most of the time it comes out fine - the other times, the times they don't clean the grill enough, stuff tastes off/dirty or with a slight oniony taste (not bad but I didn't want onions with my meal). Overall it's not a bad place, but if you're not in to meaty meats then it's just kind of "meh - whatever". The customer service at this Five Guys is Top Notch! When you walk through the door you get a big warm greeting. Watching them get your food ready is like watching a musical on Broadway. Pretty standard for a Five Guys, which means good. Well done burgers, free salted peanuts, and hot, salty fries. They have shakes here now with several add in options including bacon. Yes, you can add bacon to your shakes. The place is small, but decently laid out. If it's busy you'll have a hard time finding a table, so it's something to keep in mind. This was an entirely unsatisfactory experience. I ordered lunch from them recently on Grubhub. I got a cheeseburger (with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, ketchup, and mustard, $10.27), a 20-ounce bottle of Coke ($3.27), and a coffee milkshake ($5.86). Sales tax was $1.17, the delivery fee was $3.49, the service fee was $1.94, and the tip for the driver was $5.20. The total was $31.20 for a mediocre burger, Coke, and a small shake. The shake was maybe 400 mL. I was comparing the shake to the Coke which was 591 mL (20 oz.). The shake should have been twice as large for the price. The ingredients were no better than Burger King or McDonald's even though the meal was more expensive. Wendy's has better ingredients such as fresher beef, tomatoes, and lettuce for a lower price. Wendy's shakes are also larger, less expensive, and have more flavor. The meal should have been priced at about $10 rather than about $18. The delivery fee and service fee were completely unnecessary; these are "junk fees" for no additional service rendered. I do not know if these fees were the fault of Five Guys or Grubhub. The restaurant does not bear the expense of delivering the meal; this expense is entirely borne by the driver. I do not mind paying the driver a tip, but the extra fees were unnecessary. The driver was friendly and the meal showed up maybe in 45 minutes. I am on Franconia about a mile and a half west of Telegraph. Five Guys in my experience is a waste of time. They overprice and underdeliver. read more

Came here for a late lunch/early dinner between jobs. The place was clean, a little loud, busy but the workers dealt with the people and orders quickly, employees were super friendly, and the food was amazing! Yeah it's pretty fantastic. The little cheeseburger with grilled shrooms onions lettuce tomato and a1 sauce. Darn they have grilled jalapeños and grilled peppers now too as well as a smaller fries portion. It's not cheap for takeout, but it is deliciously yummy in my tummy. Fast and amazing service in terms of all five guys I've been to. It's one of the few that actually have a milk shake machine. Fries are okay, seemed to be missing a taste I usually have. The tomato that I got was really hard and green in the center. Other than that the burger was cooked perfectly, the burger after removing the tomato tasted awesome, and the shake was amazing. I have been to this location many times but it's really going down hill. They have so many people working there and it's so slow. It's way too loud there with the old rock music and it's very small. For a fast food joint, these are the best burgers. Cooked to order with just about any topping you'd want to put on a burger. I always get a small burger because the regular size comes with two meat patties on it. Also, I have to save room for FRIES!!!! If there are 3 or less people in your party, you only need one order of fries. They are more than generous with the fries. They offer malt vinegar for fry dipping, which, in my book, is superb! Five Guys is hands-down the best burger you can get on the east coast. Burgers are cooked to order, with your choice of toppings. You can also get a hot dog, or, if you are not a meat eater, a grilled cheese (not the most inspired vegetarian cuisine, but it's a good grilled cheese). The portions are very generous: a "little" cheeseburger has one patty. A "regular" one has two. My cowboy of a husband eats a "little" cheeseburger when I am around, but I suspect he gets a "regular" one when he's riding solo. The fries come in plain (salted) and cajun-seasoned (highly recommended, if you can tolerate a slight kick). A regular-sized order is normally more than enough for two people (including one man, and one not-dainty-but-still-wearing-a-single-digit-dress-size woman). A large is like an entire bag of french fries (which, sometimes you need--who am I to judge?). This is a lot of delicious food for the money. I live closer to the Mt Vernon Five Guys, and I work closer to the Old Town one, but Quander Rd is my favorite Five Guys location. It is always clean, the staff is very friendly, and I never have a problem finding a place to sit. read more

If you're looking for a heaping helping of meat and starch, this is an excellent place to get both. The burgers here are substantial, you'll definitely feel some weight sitting in the gut area after eating here. Then again, I opt for the double cheeseburger with bacon, so I don't do myself any favors there. They're also delicious. The meat is fresh and well-prepared, and the wide-range of available condiments offer a lot of options to customize to your personal taste. The fries might be my favorite among burger places in the area. Piping hot, crisp on the outside and chewy through the middle, they're exactly what I want in a fry. They also don't mess around with their serving size. A regular fry will give you a mound of food to eat, plenty to share with another. You basically get a cup full of well-seasoned fries, with a few extra scoops on top for good measure. You won't be going home hungry. I've been eating here for years, including a several month span in 2009 where I was traveling a lot for work, and ended up coming once a week. Never once have I been disappointed by the quality or taste. They're amazingly consistent. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and do a great job keeping the place clean and bright. The recent addition of shakes to the menu fills the one void they had for me when it comes to getting my burger fix on. It's my go-to place to satisfy my gutbomb burger craving. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it seems like the prices have been creeping up a bit over time. While I don't regret the money I spend here, I feel like it's a bit pricey for a quick-burger place. Having said that, I get the double burger with fries and sometimes a shake, so if you're not a person who is down to eat your day's worth of calories in one meal, you could probably keep the costs lower. read more

Questioned the cashier at length whether they had the Coke Freestyle machine like they had a few miles south on Rt 1 at another location. I only drink caffeine and sugar free drinks. Our Five Guys reopened! We like the upgrade. They've added milkshakes, but we didn't order them. The absolute best improvement is the air conditioning! This location did not have A/C so we had avoid it in August. There seems to be a lot of new crew members. We got to know the old crew, and have seen some of them in other stores during the remodel. We hope to see them back. The only hiccup we had this time were the fries- a lot undercooked. The Crew leader was on top of it and took care of the problem. read more

This is the ONLY Five Guys I patronize. Consistent food, consistent service, consistently immaculate interior. The manager here runs a tight ship and his employees do a solid job. This place reminds me of the original Five Guys location (since closed) on which they built their empire. Other shops may be hit or miss, but I have yet to have a soggy fry or ill-prepared burger here. If you have a choice between the one in Old Town and the one south of here on Route 1, come here. Get the LIttle Hamburger/Cheeseburger unless you want to commit meat-cide. read more

This is easily the best burger I've had (and I've had several tries). You may not want to do lunch here every day, as it is kinda greasy, but it's excellent as a treat every once in a while. I love the touch with the chalkboard stating where the days potatoes are from, too. I've tried 5 guys mostly in VA, but also Orlando, and the taste is the same and equally great at all locations.
