THE place to get a burger. This one in Old Town has an especially nice and courteous staff.

The food is great here! The food comes out in a timely manner and there is not a long line. The only problem we had experienced is using a gift card, they couldn't get it to work and instead of helping they were rude and shoved us aside. The "management" abruptly told me there was money on the card but the computer couldn't read the card, the magnet had become deactivated. Walk into this place because you can't miss it from route one and immediately was very happy by the cleanliness of the place and the cordial greeting of the staff. There is no one in line and nobody behind the register but by the time I walk up to the register the cashier is ready to take my order. I tell her I want two bacon cheese burgers twice and the second time lift my hand and show 2 fingers as well. I let her know the toppings I want on them and then tell her I want 2 small fries as well. She asks if I want a drink and I state that I don't and she tells me they have bottled ones as well so I grab a coke. She tells me my total and I pay and get a ticket. I wait patiently for my order and while waiting I tell one of the employees working the kitchen I want the burgers and fries in separate bags. When they call my number I walk up to the counter to check the bags and one of them only has fries in it. At this point the employee working the fries and handing the order realized that I was only charged for one burger and looks at the cashier for feedback. I walk over to the cashier and she states that she found it awkward that I had ordered 2 small fries and one burger and rings me up for another (huuu?). I sit and wait again while they prepare my other burger. Up to now all I get is I'm sorry and now they are rushing to get the other one out. Get my other burger and leave obviously not happy. Get home and give my son the first burger since it's in it's own bag with fries and proceed to start eating. Fries as mentioned by others were bland so I start eating the burger they prepared in a rush and half way through it feel that there is something in the middle that isn't warm I'm 2/3 into the burger and finally realize it's the meat! I'm sooo upset at this point that I can't even think straight. So just like that they will never see me again at this place and hoping I don't get sick from it! So place is clean, food is bad and they do not know how to take care of their customers when they mess up. The whole thing should have been free! read more

Five Guys burgers are noticeably better than the big chains, mainly due to fresh ingredients, freshly made. Fresh beats the pants off of frozen / previously prepared. That they cook them well-done is unfortunate, but it keeps the lawsuits away. BUT, there are considerably better burgers available. I'm in Alexandria, VA, where there are at least a couple of non-chain restaurants that will beat the pants off Five Guys. The fries at Five Guys are a handy way to convey ketchup to your mouth, and in huge quantities, but otherwise rate a 1 or 2 star. read more

Best burgers I've ever eaten (no, I haven't been to In-N-Out Burger). The quality is a *bit* better at the original couple locations in NoVA but the franchise burgers are pretty delicious too. Ok, this review is solely about fries. I have a fairly restrictive diet due to food allergies and it's a pain for me to try to find fast food that won't make me sick. Gluten and soy make me sick, and when I tried McDonald's fries it was pretty much penance and I spent the whole day regretting it. They probably definitely have gluten or soy, for those of you that have those allergies- don't eat McDonald's fries. After about a year without fast food fries I finally caved and tried Five Guys fries expecting to potentially pay for my sins later. A whole container of delicious, freshly cooked fries later- not sick! Long story short, their fries are dope and I'm not sure exactly what they have in them, but I'll eating lots more. read more

I LOVE FIVE GUYS!! At first i was concerned about this location at first but once we went inside, to my surprise, it was clean, and they had the most cheerful people working there. Downside, it was hot as hell in there, but at least the food didn't take long. I will return. read more

I don't go to Five Guys often, even though it's the closest restaurant to my home. But every so often I just have to have one of their juicy burgers and fries. If you're not familiar with the chain, the fries are out of this world. No human on earth would ever need more than their smallest order. They fill a small styrofoam cup with fries, put it in a sack and then pile in more and more. I have no idea why they waste the cup. The amount of fries they give you totally dwarfs the cup. They could just forego it and save our landfills the space. But I digress. For my tastes, the burgers get three stars and the fries get five. The shakes are good, but maybe a bit too sweet and viscous. That doesn't keep me from ordering one, though. :D The only other thing I have to add is that this particular location is well run. The employees are always happy. It amazes me they can stand at their hot stations all day and still be so cheery. The manager is (or was...I didn't see him the last couple of times) a long-time employee of the chain and has always greeted me with a smile. In fact, he recognized me from the second time I visited and I only go maybe two or three times a year. Having such a pleasant, personal experience each time I go makes this place less "fast food" and more "neighborhood restaurant". read more

I have never been impressed by Five Guys, so this is only my third visit to one in the 10+ years I have lived in the area. This is the first time I've ever ordered a shake and it was really delicious. I mean, just fantastic. Exactly how I think a shake should be. The burger was ordered with one patty, lettuce, tomato, mayo and grilled onions. Unfortunately, instead of lettuce, I got a generous helping of pickles. I ordered a "little" helping of fries that was pretty enormous and cooked well, but bland without enough seasoning. Both the burger and fries were underwhelming. The place is spotless and the service was friendly. Everything was obviously fresh, so no complaints there. Just expect the wait it takes for a fresh made to order burger. The music was fun, but loud and there is plenty of seating in the form of mostly high top tables. I have lived two minutes down the road for over three years and this was my first visit. Unless I'm with a diehard Five Guys fan, I probably won't return....except for maybe that decadent chocolate shake. Yum! read more

I love restaurants that do one thing and do it well. 5 Guys is no exception. This location is pretty much like all the others in the area. Good burgers as you would expect, but the buns have been dry the last few times. The regular is two patties with your choice of several toppings. The fries are addictive (and one order is plenty for two people). read more

We love this Five Guys location, close and conveinent. The staff is extremely friendly, and the service is great. We typically call ahead and place an order for pick-up, show up 10 minutes later and the food is ready. The food tastes great, and is a good value for the price. I loved them before they were cool! Although, I guess that anyone living in or around DC can say that. Thinking that they were still only in this area, I was surprised to see a bunch of locations while driving around in North and South Carolina. I went on their website to find out that sure enough, they had gone national. But now I can see why, because these burgers are awesome, and a "small" order of fries alone is more than enough to fill two people. The service is great, and the staff is always way more friendly than what you would expect out of a fast-food restaurant. Consistently good product and service. I recently discovered that orders can be placed on line for pick up from this location - LOVE IT! Placed an order for two bacon cheeseburgers and some cajun fries. Estimated pick up - ten minutes. Drove down the road, walked inside, and my burgers were ready to go, paid for, bagged, and ready to be consumed. Fries went into the fryer the moment I walked in to prevent them from being cold and soggy upon pick up. This worked out great, the fries were perfect with the right amount of crunch and seasoning. The burgers were juicy, with my favorite toppings (including some bright neon green jalepinos that have incredible flavor and the right amount of heat). By far my favorite Five Guys restaurant in the area - they know me on site, always have a smile on their faces, and are always pleasant. They are doing fast food right. read more

This location has milkshakes now!! It's been under renovation for awhile, but they're open again. It was an older location, but looks shiny and new and with MILKSHAKES. Aside from the food being delicious, Five Guys is one of the few restaurants in the area that has the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. If you don't know about this amazing invention, then you must go and try it. It is more than a soda machine, it has over 100 flavors so you can mix and match your favorites! This is a must try! Hands down this Five Guys chain is the best burgers in the DC area. Love all the topping choices and of course the fries are addictive. I like to have vinegar with the fries. Burgers are sized with 2 patties for the normal order and 1 patty for the junior. Well if you're going to have a 1 patty burger, why not get a hot dog to go with it! Come on, you're obviously not counting calories if you're dining at Five Guys. Take a look at the menu, order your burger with all your favorite toppings, get your order, then try to take a bite off that monster burger! You'd have to keep the wrapper on there just to hold all the toppings inside! For burgers in the DC area, you have to try this place. read more

I go to Five Guys when I crave a burger. Great burgers here. The fries are usually oil and limp, but definitely hot and not terrible. The music is too loud at this location. I could barely hear the cashier and she could barely hear me, which was frustrating. read more
