I really like Five Guys burgers, but my doctor tells me to stay away. My ten year old prefers them over any other burger joint, which should say something. One note, when you order a burger there, their burgers are always double patty unless you order the kiddy burger. I live their bacon cheeseburger. Watch out for their fries. The regular order is really large, so don't order the large order. They also have free peanuts in the shell to eat while you wait while your meal is being cooked. read more

In the category of fast food burgers, this place is great. It's a large step up from traditional chains but it's not perfect. I ordered a little burger with ketchup, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms. It was tasty but I have to agree that the patty was thin and the bun was nothing special. I would stay away from the mushrooms in the future because they are straight-from-a-can rubbery. But it was a satisfying burger overall and I've heard that the regular burger is huge. On to the fries...my hubby and I split an order of small plain fries. Ours were hot and crispy with a little extra brown. I personally like my fries well done so that worked for me. I wouldn't be surprised if the crisp level varies a lot depending on who is manning the fryer. A small fry was plenty for us to share and I was stuffed even though I wimped out with a little burger. We grab dinner from here at least once a month. Always awesome. My husband is addicted to their cheesedogs. It seems so silly to me to buy hot dogs at a restaurant, but he insists these are the best around. I personally love their bacon cheeseburgers too much to stray. And their fries...so delicious! Good, cheap burgers. Had their Veggie Sandwich (no cheese) and I have to say that it was pretty good for a fast food burger joint. Enjoyed the peanuts provided in the restaurant to eat with your meal or to snack on while waiting on food. Kudos to Five Guys for having a sign saying where their potatoes came from as well. My food has always been good, I definitely love how they prepare everything where you can see it. I like how it's a plain burger until you tell them what to add, and I've never had them mess that part up. And you can't say you don't get enough fries. They'll overwhelm you. Tip: One serving of fries will serve 3 people. The bathrooms are almost never very clean, and I may be obnoxious with how I expect bathrooms to be cleaned, but it's always severely lacking. read more

I finally decided to give Five Guys a try since I work no more than a mile from it and I was craving a decent hamburger and the McDonalds across the street just wasn't going to cut it. I went at my normal lunch time just after 1pm to miss the lunch crowd. It wasn't very crowded at all. They have a very large and open dining area for a place that really only serves to items. I went all in and ordered a bacon cheeseburger and regular fries. The burger was good and juicy. It is one of the better burgers that I have had in Huntsville. The patties were fresh and you can have just about any combination of toppings on it as well. The fries were great. Just a note though. The regular size fry is enough to feed 2 or 3 people. They fill a cup full and then dump about 2 more cups full in the bag. I snacked around on them for the rest of the afternoon. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey so it will only be at most a once every week or two trip for me. 4 stars for the food quantity and quality. Love Five Guys for years. There food is made free of growth hormones, etc. For about $5, it is great as usual. Love fries, so glad the give extra. Visit this location as well as the North Parkway and Carl Jones location. All three locations are nice. Had not had in a while, so was great today. When I want a burger, Five Guys is the place to go. My favorite burger place in Huntsville. I usually order a cheeseburger with regular fries. The burger is consistently good. Their fries exceeded my expectations at my first try. As a result I always get regular fries which is huge and can easily serve two people. Can't go wrong with Five Guys. No matter how fancy the $10 burgers get at other places, I always find myself craving Five Guys Burgers and Fries. The "Little" burgers are plenty enough for most people, and they have pretty much any topping you could need. Go with the Cajun fries, and never, ever get more than one order...it's definitely enough for 3-4 people. If there is a better burger in the Hville area, I haven't found it. My wife and I love this place. For pretty much the same price we'd end up paying at a McDonalds, we get a far, far better experience. The burgers are seasoned well and all of the extras are free. EWWWWW there was a fried COCKROACH in my fries, can you believe when I quietly showed them they offered me more fries? Me thinks not. The burger was good, just took a little bit to be able to choke it down and the person I went to lunch with had a hard time of it too. Management took my phone number and called but nothing they said over the phone has happened as of yet. I waited two weeks to give management an opportunity to rectify the situation. When I found out there was a Five Guys in town, I just had to try it out. Since I'm from CA, I am a total In and Out Burger fiend, and I heard that Five Guys was better. Well, in my humble opinion I believe that In and Out still makes a better burger. The bacon cheeseburger I ordered was ginormous. Expensive too. Almost 6 bucks. I guess I could have ordered the "little" burger but I didn't want to feel like a sissy lala. I ordered my burger "all the way", which includes mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, fried onions, grilled mushrooms (canned!), ketchup, and mustard. It was a good burger, but I felt slightly underwhelmed. I felt that the extras were just fluff, and I that there were issues with the burger fundamentals. For example, the bun was just, well a bun. It didn't have any character. The meat too was also a bit on the dry side. Maybe not enough fat content? Onto the fries. Get the regular cup. Even that is too much for the average joe. I ordered the cajun fries; basically regular steak fries with lots of seasoning. I thought the fries were overseasoned and slightly mushy. I prefer the non canjun fries. It may seem like I am pointing out lots of negatives, but it still is a place to get a good, satisfying burger. It's just not as good as I was led to believe... read more

Not the best that I had, but decent. I had a double cheeseburger and some fries here (the fries are fresh cut like others have commented on)... About middle of the road as far as burgers go, they taste like they use middle of the road ground meat and it was not seasoned very much, but still went down nicely. The fresh fries were also nice, but you have to eat them fast as they get soggy like most fresh cut fires do after about 15-20 minutes. I liked having the peanuts there to snake on though as it helped pass the time waiting for the food to come in, which wasn't too long thankfully (about 7-10 minutes). Overall a nice experience, just was missing something that would have pushed it over the top... like more fresh toppings that they didn't charge you for and some more flavor in the beef. read more

This is one of the best places for burgers in town, in my opinion. One of the little burgers is usually plenty for me, but if you're really hungry the regular sized burgers are just two of the little patties. The cajun fries are AWESOME! Not mention, they are a super great value cause you pay like 3 dollars for almost an entire brown paper bag full of fries (do not order a large fry! You will just be giving away extra money). You pick your order up at the counter, so there's not a lot of service interaction, but I've never had to wait in a long line and the food always comes out quickly. Went to five guys today not happy, dirty, granted it was lunch time $28. For a 1. burger 1.hotdog 1.fry and 2 shakes . Hubby couldn't eat his burger his service dog wouldn't even eat it. I ate part of my cheese dog didn't taste good too much mustard and onion on it. The dog would at least eat it. Shakes were nothing special. Only the fries were good. Will never eat there again! For that price we could have gone to Old Hidelburg the German restaurant and had a really great meal. Still burping the hot dog, 3 1/2 hours later. read more

I have loved Five Guys since the first time I had it up in Virginia about 10 years ago. Everything changes when it's all about the money. Portions are much smaller and the prices are high. The burgers and fries still tastes great. The advertisements on the wall still say Best Cheap Eats. They need to take that down. Hot dogs at almost $4 are so not worth it. The burgers here certainly aren't bad but they aren't anything spectacular either. An order of fries is far more than any one person needs. One order of fries should be enough for three people. They fill up the cup and then dump some more in the bag. The bottom of every bag with fries in it is soaked in grease. The burgers, as well, are quite greasy. If you are looking for a greasy burger, (and let's face it, sometimes all you want is a greasy burger) this is the place to go. They certainly don't have the best burgers I've ever eaten, but for a fast food burger it's good. Dining in is a little less than pleasant. The place is extremely noisy and if it's full you basically have to yell across the table just to be heard. All in all it's good for a fast food joint, but really no more than that. read more
