After my last experience at a Five Guys I did not have high hopes for this one...but my husband was REALLY craving a burger and we didn't want something horribly overpriced and disappointing... he mentioned he kept hearing great things about Five Guys and insisted we just had a bad experience so I gave in and gave this new (to us) location a shot. It actually was pretty good! It wasn't in-n-out good, but they do make a decent burger here. They have gluten free options (no bun!) and the menu is rather straight forward choosing the items you want -- and they didn't mess it up! The "smaller" option is just one patty and the regular is 2 just in case you didn't know. Everything is made to order and you can watch the food get prepared too. The restaurant is well kept -- clean. Service on our few visits was friendly and with a smile. All very positive! The other patrons were even friendly and nice too. A visit to Five Guys Burgers and Fries isn't just a meal, it's an experience. When you walk in, stay to the right of the long stack of bags. Those are peanuts, more about them later. You don't need to worry about ordering to stay or for take-out, the packaging is the same either way. If this is your first visit, get mentally prepared to place your order, because there is a much longer list of condiments than you're probably used to; and because all the yelling in the kitchen is a distraction. Ah, the kitchen. The entire kitchen / food prep area is right behind the front counter. A dozen or more people in red t-shirts are running around back there, cooking burgers, cooking fries, cooking whatever else; and then assembling burgers plus toppings plus condiments into sandwiches and assembling sandwiches and fries into orders. As they do this they're yelling all sorts of things back and forth to coordinate their efforts. It's a combination of awesome and annoying. And this means that Five Guys is probably not the place to go for a relaxed dining experience. After you've placed your order and gotten your number, grab one of the little paper trays behind you and load it up with peanuts. They're free, and you may need something to keep you busy while you wait for your food. Don't count on a table being available right away, but do keep an eye out. The diners here plow through their food pretty quickly so you won't have to wait long. Also keep an ear out for your number. Sadly, my fellow Kirkland denizens are not so good at this. Had I known about this earlier, I probably would have kept a tally of how many times somebody in a red shirt had to shout "86" or "83" before the light went on in the head of customer 86 or 83, and they stumbled up to claim their dinner. Maybe I could have awarded them the "Out to Lunch at Lunchtime" award. Maybe next visit. OK, finally the food. Pretty good. It was interesting to see the sign that said my french fries came from a farm in Winthrop, WA. The cheese was good, not stellar. The burger and the bacon was tasty. And there was a hell of a lot of toppings in a configuration I'd never tried before. Seems like a good idea to go back an explore more of the condiment permutations. read more

What's a vegetarian doing writing a review for a burger joint? Lots of friends who love this place for their little bacon cheese burger with everything on it... Being that this place does not make their burgers with "pink slime" like other burger joints, I had to give kudos to 5 guys for doing that ... Another good feature - they make the burgers fresh as you order them... That's the reason why they don't have drive thrus. You also have unlimited roasted peanuts to eat while you're waiting... And I have to say it's the best roasted peanuts I've had even compared to the ones you get at mariners stadium... What a nice gesture, since nothing is really free anymore! Their French fries are really good... They source the potatoes locally... And they cut the potatoes fresh for your fries. They even post where your fries (potatoes) are from (location/farm) each day. I really love how you can really taste the potato flavor from each fry ... It's not processed. I've tried their veggies in a burger bun... Not bad... And I'm glad they don't cook the veggies on the grill where previous blood laden beef burgers have been.... That would be gross. I know the prices are pretty steep in comparison to other fast food burger joints (BK, McD, etc)... But I have to say... you're getting a Red Robin type of burger in a fast food joint setting... I don't know how I overlooked writing a review...been here four times and still I forget. First time I went I got the regular size burger, it came with 2 patties plus the fixings...I didn't know what to do with it as it is soooo big! I said to myself, "Who cares if it runs down your hands and arms....go for it!" And that is exactly what I did...15 minutes and 23,782 napkins later I was happy and beyond stuffed. Since then I get the single patty burger...had fries once...they're good (esp. with the malt vinegar) but even a small order was more than enough. It would be nice if a kid's size was offered. I completed their survey and suggested they offer chili for the burgers and hot dogs, as well as slaw...I love slaw dogs! I was going to order a BLT till I found out it is served on a burger bun. I like mine on sour dough so I skipped it. Great music every time I've been as well...LZ was on so that made the time spent even better. Though I love your burgers I had a disappointing experience this morning at this location. I am a healthcare worker on my break hoping to get in a quick lunch between patients. As I entered your establishment at 10:59 I was told I had to wait after 5 minutes in my car so your 3 employees could all finish eating at the table together before helping a guest. Myself and 3 other customers waited as we watch through your windows employees chatting and eating after 11. I'm confused why your website says "open at 11" , your doors are unlocked and the 2 "open" LED signs are on yet I can't be served yet? Maybe some coaching on customer experience and hospitality needs to be noted in your next employee meeting, disappointed on guest experience at this location as they seem to not take it seriously. I was really impressed with my first visit to this new joint. Since I was getting food to go, I ordered via the iPhone app, which was nice because I was able to skip the line when I arrived and get my food right away. The burgers were already cooked when I arrived, and they waited to pour the (massive amount of) fries into my bag until the last second -- nice and hot. The owner was there, and was very helpful and nice -- he even helped me carry the beverages to my car. Speaking of beverages, they have the new Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, which means you can pour an ice cold cup of pretty much any Coke product that exists. I've been to several other area Five Guys restaurants many times, and despite this location being open for less than a week, the burger and fries were the best I've had so far. For some reason, this location doesn't show up right on the map, so if you get confused, head over to the Totem Lake QFC and you will see it. Sadly, Five Guys is perhaps as good of a burger you're going to get around Kirkland, brewpubs and sit-down restaurants excluded. It's not bad or anything, it looks fresh as advertised, not too greasy, and tastes alright, but there's really nothing special about their burger and that's what bothers me. You can't get anything other than well done and well pressed meat. I really wish a Red Mill or even Dick's would open up around here! I've been to the one in Bellevue and liked it but this just wasn't a good experience. First off I was surprised my order for a bacon hamburger and regular fries came to over $13 but I reasoned that 5 guys wasn't typical fast food and it was worth it. After waiting about 10 minutes for my food I got it and realized they had upgraded me to the bacon cheeseburger. It was just an extra dollar or something and I thought it was fine I like chesse so I didn't complain. I did enjoy the burger but the fries were not very good. I guess they are super fresh but weren't that tasty. Overall it was not a meal worth $13 but what really bugged me is how dirty the place was. Nice building but the floor was covered with peanut shells and there were crumbs ketchup and other sauces on the table. When you are looking for a burger or a dog with little fuss or muss and where you can customize it exactly to your liking, this is a good option. (I will confess, though, that the day Fatburger opens a joint in Kirkland that is where I'll get my burger/dog fix.) Before any one dismisses me: I am omnivorous. I really enjoy the food at this restaurant. The fries are pretty good, they have a good real earth potato flavor and tasty grease. The sandwich I always get is the vegetarian which is a fun handful of fried veggies. Last time I went they gave me way to many fries! I ordered the regular fries which comes in a cup and I think is reasonable amount of fries. Instead I got my food bag and there was so many fries in there I could not pull my sandwich out of the bag. They were spilling all in the bag and probably three times more than what I ordered. I do not like feeling like I will have to "eat my way" through to the other side of the bag, gross. I did end up eating to many fries and feeling a big solid lump in my gut for the rest of the day. The ambience is fine I like the look and know to expect a few peanut shells around but pretty much clean. I like it, however the way they yell when an order is ready is a bit much. The whole time you are eating numbers are being yelled too loudly as food becomes ready for customers. As I was leaving the guy who came on shift was making like a funny joke voice. My card was accidentally charged for my order and the person who ordered after me (accidental charge was $25.00). I was told that I would have to come back the next day to get a refund as they could process it when the manager wasn't working. They couldn't even issue a gift card or do the refund over the phone, I absolutely had to come back in. So the next day we're looking at an hour of my wasted time and also wasted gas just to get a refund for somebody else's incompetence. Never received an apology or compensation for my wasted time. So a friend of mine asked me to stop and get him a burger here. It was a slow afternoon when I got there and I ordered his bacon burger then I decided I'd like to try a cheeseburger as well. Then I ordered fries too! When I got home with my order, i had a big double cheese burger and the fry cook gave me a few extra fries in the bottom of the bag for an additional surprise. I had no idea that he was going to give me a bonus without ever having been there before. And the fixings on top of my burger were really good. Free all you can eat peanuts!!!! Probably frowned upon to fill your bag with them but peanuts are expensive and if they are just offering them up for free in a tub with a shovel, I'll shovel! The burgers were juicy and delicious. The small size burger is a normal burger. The normal size burger is a double patty. They usually tell you that but just in case, be warned, it's a lot to take in. Not the best burger I've ever had but it's better than most of the fast food burger joints around here, and they are very fair priced! The fries are mostly soggy and come in a drink cup. If you're hankering for a quick burger fix I'd recommend this place, but if you want an amazing sit down burger meal experience, go to almost any tavern or pub. read more

Worth the hype, though the burgers are much better than the fries. The fries are a bit too soft/soggy for my taste. But the burgers are excellent, especially with all the toppings. I especially love going the spicy route with fresh jalapenos, hot sauce, and peppers. Add grilled onions for sure! They have those new Coke machines with all the varieties/flavors. This is only the second time I've been to a Five Guys. The first time was in Oregon and I wasn't that impressed; it just seemed like a very basic average burger. I liked it a lot more the second time around, but it's still not Teddy's Bigger Burgers ; ) I actually wasn't planning on stopping there at all; I went to the QFC next door to get some of their amazingly delicious Gorgonzola chicken pasta salad but they didn't have it : ( so I decided to grab a burger. I got a basic cheeseburger with lettuce, mustard, and mayo along with a small fry. The burger was better than I remembered it. It still didn't blow me away but it was pretty good. Maybe I was just hungrier this time :p The fries were a lot better than I remembered; they were crisp and delicious, and I thought they were kind of soggy and limp before. Who doesn't like nice crispy fries? The place is brand new and squeaky clean, and you can tell keeping the place looking good is definitely part of their business plan. It wasn't that busy when I was there so employees were wiping down tables, cleaning the grill, wiping down the soda machines, etc. I see they have hot dogs, I've kind of been craving a good dog for a while. The staff are friendly enough, burgers are good. They set out peanuts for people to eat, and you'll be set if you order a regular fry for two or three people. This location takes a while to serve food most of the time, and the tables aren't always cleaned off all the way. Other than that, it's a decent place to grab food to go. read more

We go here for fries and shakes. They are always overly generous with the portion of fries. The fries are simple and not over salted like many other spots. We are regulars here. The food is good and the milkshakes are excellent. Having an option for a lettuce wrapped burger helps with my allergy sensitive child and we appreciate the option. I remove one star because for some reason this location continues to send us out the door with cheap to go bags that leak grease all over the place. Seriously, double bag it or find better bags!!! Tonight's order I walked out and got to my car and my purse and pants were covered in grease from holding the bag that now had a big fist sized hole in it. Its nice to be able to pick and choose what toppings we want on each burger. My kids love the free peanuts while waiting for their food. Friendly staff and a busy place, which is a good sign food is fresh. Protip: Take your fries out of the cup right away. All the steam in that little space makes them super soggy. I ordered a double cheeseburger, 8 bucks by itself and it was small. It looked squished even. The fries are VERY GOOD, but they fall short of true french fry glory by not providing ranch sauce to go with them. Peanuts are fun but cannot make up for other things. First time trying and ordered online...very convenient to order exactly what you want and have it ready to pick up when you get there. When you ask for "extra" jalapenos you really get extra jalapenos and I that's what I like, no skimping here! Overall the burger and fries are very good and for that reason alone I would return again. However, I gave it 4 stars for a reason....I live less than a mile away and was 5 minutes early to my stated online pick up time. I don't know what happened to my burger if it was made too far in advance and/or if it sat too long wrapped in just regular "tin foil" while they were making the fries but when I got it home it was a sloppy, soggy spicy hot mess of deliciousness!!! If it wasn't for the fact that it tasted good, I would have been very disappointed especially because I don't like a wet soggy BUN, I selected grilled jalapenos, not raw and not a big fan of processed american cheese, its not real cheese! A little refinement of this new establishment in Kirkland and I'll shoot for a 5 star rating next time. Which means they need to wrap the "TO GO" burgers in something to absorb the moisture of a hot burger, other restaurants do it....Just TIN FOIL is not a good choice and this was the demise of my fluffy soft burger bun! REAL CHEDDAR CHEESE should be added to the list of toppings for your burger because I would gladly pay a little more to have real cheese to enhance the best burger experience! And lastly, as kind as the staff is they need to really read the online orders more precisely to get all the toppings right and especially the timing for pick-up! The first time I tried Five Guys was years ago in D.C. I don't believe they had locations in Washington state until years later. I was in Kirkland recently and was invited to a group lunch here. If you haven't been to Five Guys, you may not be familiar with the peanuts. Grab a scoop and have at it. I don't like peanuts so I don't touch them. Others seem to enjoy it quite a bit. The menu is somewhat limited. Don't get me wrong, there are burgers, fries, and sodas here. You won't find shakes, onion rings, sundaes, or anything more than burgers, fries, and sodas. I like that they make their own patties and my absolute fave is the cajun fries that have a bit of tasty, salty spice to them. They got my order wrong today as in didn't hear it correctly, mixing up "grilled onions" for "mushrooms" because they sound alike. The staff was friendly and were more than willing to replace my burger to my satisfaction but having already reached the point of hangry (hungry + angry), I declined and ate my burger. Another person's order at my table was mixed up as well. The cashier heard him correct and it was noted on the receipt that he wanted bacon and jalapenos, neither of which was in his burger. He did opt for a new burger since he had gorged himself on peanuts to hold him over. Again, the staff was more than willing to accommodate him by letting him keep the old burger (which he didn't want) and make him a new one. FYI...the jalapenos are raw, which was a bit strange and mild. Overall, the food was edible and the service was good. I am impressed by their willingness to make things right and during down periods, while cleaning up the dining room, a staff member made conversation with a number of different groups. read more
