I really enjoyed Five Guys in Lakewood. It has an efficient crew and my sandwich was delicious. I requested chopped mushroom and they actually chopped them. It was wonderful and I enjoyed the sandwich next time. I will not ask for cheese. I was able to peel it off. The sandwich was lovely. I don't like the shape of mushrooms, but I can eat them chopped. Five Guys is mainly known for their hamburgers, but I tried their hot dog for the first time, and I was impressed. I did not realized that the lowly hot dog is entitled to the same free option of toppings as the burger, and I loaded mine with grilled onion, grilled mushroom, ketchup and mustard. I think pickles would go well with the hot dog too. It took less time for the hot dog to be grilled, and it's sliced in half to expose more surface for the grilling. The burgers here are made to order, with your choice of toppings. They are also really good burgers. They don't have shakes, which is a drag. But, as I understand it, they don't have freezers either. While the food is good, the lack of shakes is a drag for the pure burger experience. The place has a 50s burger-diner vibe. The free peanuts and peanut-laden floor is part of the deal, and it's cool. The food is cooked to order. The servers are friendly. The food comes up in a reasonable time, depending on how busy they are. I like 5 Guys. Some of the best burgers i had! I like them better than the rest of the chain burger places! They fry the items in peanut oil. The burgers are straight up delicious. The cajon fries are good also! They put alot of seasoning on them but so good! They only have outside seating. About 4 tables with 4 seats! No inside seating due to covid. I don't eat here as often as i want because 5-guys is pretty expansive! lol. A double burger and small fries almost $20 bucks. They say "Go Big or Go Home". For me, I decided to do the complete opposite: Go Little AND Go Home! Actually, I would have had to go home to eat anyways because at the time of my visit, dine-ins were done away with again, which means no snacking on those salty peanuts while waiting for our food. What sadness, but surely, the build-your-own burger should help save the day, right?!?!? Not necessarily. In-N-Out and Habit Burger Grill do one (or two) better in my opinion. If you've never been to Five Guys before, ordering works like this: Order a burger or a hot dog, pile it on with as many toppings as you'd like, and it's still the same price. Think nearby Pieology, but for burgers. Well then again, that might be a stretch since at Pieology, your pizza is created in an assembly line similar to what they do at Subway, but that's not the case at Five Guys. At Five Guys, you make your order either at the register or online (I did the latter), and then the five (or fewer) guys in the kitchen cook your burger accordingly. During COVID-19 season, Five Guys' temporary hours are 12 PM to 6 PM, so if you want to have dinner at Five Guys, it better be an early dinner. I wanted to have a Five Guys burger for a Wednesday dinner, and so I ordered online. What did I order? Well remember when I said I decided to "Go Little AND Go Home"? I decided to order the Little Hamburger sans fries to see if it would be filling enough for one meal. As mentioned before, you can pile on as many toppings as you'd like, but what I didn't know before ordering online is that you can actually request extras of each topping, and so that's what I did. Extra relish, extra onions, extra jalapeño peppers, extra lettuce, extra green peppers, extra pickles, extra A-1 steak sauce, extra tomatoes, extra grilled onions, extra grilled mushrooms, extra grilled jalapeños, extra grilled green peppers, and extra dinero. Okay maybe not the last, but wow that's a lot of extras! Five Guys burgers can be soggy at times. Other times, they aren't. Unfortunately, my Little Hamburger turned out to be a bit soggy for my taste buds that it took away from the otherwise decent taste of the burger. This is why I would NEVER recommend getting a hot dog from Five Guys because the bun could disintegrate, making for a less-than-pleasant hot dog eating experience. How did the burger taste? Oh wait, I said it tasted decent save for the sogginess. To add to that, I was able to taste all the extra veggies that I requested, but I suppose all those extra veggies were the reason why the buns got too soggy. Either that or it was because I requested extra A1 steak sauce, which I didn't remember tasting while eating the burger; the steak sauce was oozing out of the burger as I took it out of the bag. Did the Little Hamburger fill me up? Just about, but I ended up eating a late night snack just so I wouldn't go to bed hungry. However, I didn't feel bloated after eating my burger, so that's a plus. I came into the restaurant 8 minutes before my scheduled pickup time. A staff member asked if he could help, and I told him my name for pickup even though I also acknowledged that I was early. He said my burger would be ready in 5-6 minutes. It was actually 8 minutes before my burger was handed to me, right at my scheduled pickup time. Will I return? If I do, it's likely not going to be for a burger or a hot dog. Something interesting to note is that even though I didn't order a cheeseburger, I saw bits of cheese on the toppings of my burger. It didn't bother me at all since I enjoy cheese on burgers, but if you are lactose intolerant, you'll want to keep this in mind. read more

Sine due to Covid, i have decided and ordered delivery for contacless service. Which is very confusing since la county lifted the mask mandate last week. I'm fully vaxed and have worn a mask for the last 2 years. This modern era of know it alls can make speaking up difficult. I asked for my burger well done as I sometimes like the char or the ground beef with the taste of the soft Five Guys bun and cheese. As the woman at the front gave me my total which was close to $40, I reiterated the "well done" part as I didn't see it on the screen. I couldn't tell if she was being sarcastic by the look on her face, but she gave this tone that I should already know, "all of our burgers are well done." Basically her insinuation was blunt and straightforward - she didn't need to say anything to the cook. I'm not the kind of girl that'd usually try Five Guys, but what the heck. (Hm, that sounds funny!) Lots of parking because it's in a massive, long strip mall. My bestie and I walked in to a very clean restaurant with no line on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered two little cheeseburgers, fries and a drink to go. A "little cheeseburger" is not little, mind you, it's just not their regular one that's huge with two patties. I made sure to ask for a size comparison against something at McDonald's. While waiting for our food, we went to fill up my fountain drink and walked by big bags of all-you-can-eat peanuts. UH OH! Bestie is allergic to peanuts. We start panicking. He went to ask if the food was cooked in peanut oil, and they said only the fries, and that his burger was clean of that oil. The cook said that he bagged his burger next to the fries, but he would remake his burger and bag it on its own. So nice! They even let us keep the extra burger that was touching the oil. That's the only reason they get marked down a star. They should say they cook the fries in peanut oil in big letters at the door or register.
