Delicious burgers that deliver. Any minute now a bacon cheeseburger with a side of cajun fries will be arriving at my apartment, so I'll try not to be too biased. These are some good burgers. If you're into burgers, you already know about Five Guys. If you're not into burgers, why the heck did you go to a burger place? This burger fills me up fast and my stomach often needs a moment to digest the epicness. If I was a bigger burger lover I'd probably give Five Guys a four, but for me it's definitely a once in awhile kinda spot. When I do get that craving, however, Five Guys never fails. read more

A delicious, cheap & greasy burger.....MMmmmmm =) The burgers are great...and come with free toppings! I recommend getting a cheeseburger with sauteed mushrooms. The fries are also great, with just the right amount of salt, and everything comes in a paper bag that's soaked to the bone in grease by the time you've walked back to the office. If you hear those words uttered by a friend or some annoying hipster, you have my permission to un-friend them on Facebook. Five Guys may be a chain, but everything here is fresh, well prepared and is a great fast & inexpensive food option when in the west village-ish area. I always get the little cheese burger, which is not some silly miniburger, it is about 4-5 ounces of beef. The burgers are quite tasty and although cooked well done, come out juicy and not cooked to death. The fries are good as well. They cut the potatoes fresh each day and freshness comes through in the taste. Another upside, is that they do not skimp on the fries, you usually get enough fries for 3 people. The only downsides to this location is that is can get a little messy in the dining area and they can get a little disorganized and backed up if even a small line forms. Overall, aside from a few negatives, this is my go-to burger place in this neighborhood. read more

The first two times I had Five Guys was at LGA. I loved it so much that I figured I should go to the actual place, rather than getting my fix at the airport. So headed here for lunch and got a cheeseburger with grilled onions, mushrooms and A1 sauce ($7.09). For some strange reason, the burger wasn't nearly as good as the two times I had it at the airport. Both patties were well done, there wasn't any or enough A1 sauce and I thought the grilled onions came in rings rather than diced up. We also got a large order of the cajun seasoned fries ($4.99) and there was more than enough fries. They were overly seasoned and the fries were mediocre. I love 5 Guys. I went to my first one in south Florida of all places and have been a fan ever since. The fries are excellent, the burgers are excellent (I prefer thin burgers over thick ones - these are perfect in my mind) and the Mr. Pibb at the fountain. It's a little pricey for a burger joint, but well worth it. Also, at this location (7th Ave), there is a bar above the 5 Guys. You can bring your burger and fries upstairs if the bar is open (the entrance is inside the 5 Guys - up some stairs) and have a beer with your food. read more

Well. Way to hype up a place that isn't even worth it. I decided to try Five Guys because A) I love burgers, and B) I heard many good things about it. I was disappointed, to say the least. Although the burger was a good size for being a "little hamburger", the patty had absolutely no flavor whatsoever, and it was so dry. Now I see why they allow you to put all that crap on, to disguise the tasteless meat!! The lettuce and tomatoes were pretty gross, too. They weren't fresh at all, and really wet. I did appreciate the fact the the toppings were free. I didn't notice the free peanuts; I thought you had to buy them haha. But I find that pretty cool too. I know it's not necessarily a fast food chain(or is it?) But it took them a pretty long time to get me my hamburger. Overall, 2 stars. Famous for a reason, loves!!!! I took my French friend here for a real American dining experience, and I felt that Five Guys Burgers were the absolute only way to do it. Their menu involves tons of toppings to choose from, and their burgers are amazing, and the large ones apparently are doubles . . . I usually have great things to say about Five Guys, but this location is perhaps one you skip. I ate here because I was hanging out at the bar upstairs (very cool) and ordered a burger and cajun fries, my usual. It took an extra long time to get the food, maybe 15 minutes, even though the place was not too busy. When I got the food, the fries were lukewarm and tasted like they had been sitting there for awhile. And how comparable this burger is to In N Out and what not. Me being a native southern Californian, and recent transplant had to check this place out. So I walk up and kinda overwhelmed with the choices of toppings. I mean when a burger not a burger? I guess when you can slap everything on it from jalapenos to A1. I mean I love those and might even love the combo in any other way but a burger? I kinda a purist when it comes down to the nitty gritty. Just some fresh onion, lettuce, cheese and dressing. That's how you can tell how well a burger stacks up. All said and done it was a good burger, maybe even better than that. But amazing, life changing, mind altering... I think not. The place when I visited was kinda dirty, peanut shells everywhere (bonus points on the free peanuts), and paper. Another thing they boast is the cheapness... and let me tell you it's not cheap at all! For sure not recession friendly. Two burgers, large fries, and a large drink for over twenty? I'm always very observant of the staff, and these guys were ready for whatever/whoever came in. The cashier was really helpful and patient with me. I couldn't read the menu because apparently I'm blind now, and she willingly riddled off the ingredients and toppings for me and helped edit my order. I waited less than 5 minutes for one of the best burgers I have ever eaten! Super greasy, cheesy, and with all my favorite toppings. The fries were amazing and plentiful. I had roughly 30 fries left but I couldn't force anymore down my body. Even though I tried. When I get cravings at work, I kick myself for not having saved those 30 fries because I knew they'd come in handy. So awesome. I know this place isn't as glamorous as Shake Shack (read, no standing in line therefore not exclusive), but it's damn good. The "burger"' is actually 2 patties, a "little burger" is only one. All the toppings besides cheese and bacon are free, meaning a whole slew of things like mushrooms, pickles and grilled onions are available without the drama of a joint like Brgr. I have to say the fries are also a fricking hit. Skin-on and cooked in peanut oil, these puppies served hot and fresh with a daily posting on the wall of where the potatoes came from. Mine were form Driggs, Idaho. And then if you desperate, there's free peanuts to much on in tubs near the counter. A bit weird, but in a cool weird way. I mean, what's free anymore? Ok so my office is down the black and there is less and less in thehood for lunch. 5 Guys is really my last choice and once in a blue moon i swing over there and everytime my office guys and I have the same reaction. $13 for a burger, fries and soda!!! Not worth it at all. The burgers are over cooked. The foil wrapper makes them soggy by the time you get to your table or take it home or work. The stiraphone cups make the fries soggy and they are WAY to over salted. I really love Five Guys and this one is no exception. It's the easiest one to get to from my apartment, so I go often. The staff is really friendly here too. This one is also a little more unique than any other Five Guys I've been too. It has a bar upstairs. I always get the Little Cheeseburger, since the regular Cheeseburger is two patties and too much. Kids love the place , my daughter being a prime example . She gets the fries almost daily . I Do hate the idea that they will Only give you a WELL DONE burger ; no exceptions . I only like medium rare , but it is Not an option . WELL DONE or Nothing . Makes me a bit angry that they Refuse to give you the burger you want . I know why they do it , but I can't eat their burgers - cooked into a burnt grave . And no veggie burgers , either, which would be a work around of the problem . Burger lovers, beware. You may never be able to go back to your "Best of New York" burger joints after this meal. I have described this place as an East Coast In-n-Out Burger (few items, well made, attention to quality), but that doesn't do it justice. The fries are out of this world, the burgers are juicy and made to order, the beef is never frozen, and there are free refills on your drinks. Plus there's a bar upstairs (Bleeker Heights) for the normal ones among you who like a beer with their food. I can't vouch for the other New York-based locations, but this place is worth a visit if only for the food. A WORD OF CAUTION AND DELIGHT: Everything is made with peanut oil at this place, which is healthier and (in my opinion) tastier than the stuff that most fast-food joints use. I came here after walking out of Bleecker Street pizza, very mad at their rude service. I decided to take my business to another place, and fortunately saw that Five Guys was still open (it was past midnight on a Saturday night). I'd had Five Guys before in Maryland and had had a good experience. The Five Guys in the West Village is pretty good, though not the best. The service was quick, though I could tell that the lady behind the cash register was quite overworked. I ordered the original burger (two meat patties) and fries. I was confused at first about ordering toppings (I didn't remember having this issue at the Five Guys in Maryland), but it could have just been because it was late in the night. I appreciated that they gave me extra fries, outside of just that little cup. But then again, they're really pricey to begin with, so that is to be expected, I guess. My burger and fries cost me about $10. Pretty pricey... and I'm from the West Coast, where there is In n Out, where the burgers are amazing and for a much cheaper price. I liked Five Guys. Would I go there specifically again? No. But if there was nothing else open in the area and I was hungry, I would stop by and order from there again. read more

It has a wide open feel, it's location on Bleecker is perfect...I ordered just the "lite" burger and then proceeded to order almost one of each of the toppings and it was fabulous. Granted, not great quality meat, but it's about what you would get in any diner, which means it's better than most fast food...A large order of fries is more than enough to share between two people. Not to mention, I chilled out on a saturday night with a friend and played cards for a couple of hours and wasn't bothered at all. If it has free wireless, I won't ever leave the place! I got tap water and was still shocked at how much a meal costs at a regular buger joint. All of a sudden, $3.00 burgers seem like a thing of the past. The hamburger, toppings and fries are fresh. There's no doubt about it. The quarter-inch thick cut regular fries come in a regular sized styrofoam cup but store-bought cajun seasonings seemed to be sprinkled over it at the last minute. The burgers could use a little more salt or seasoning, but taste like the best backyard grilled burgers you could possibly make. The difference, however, is that you can't make it THAT good. The hamburger consists of two patties. So to solve this conundrum, order the Little Hamburger if you want just one. Ah....! No wonder the hamburger's 700 calories. After ordering the "hamburger" I rationalized with myself that they cooked it in pure butter and lard so that it would meet the 700 calorie requirement. Please don't make the same mistake I did. OMG OMG OMG!!! So excited to hear that they have five guys here in NYC! Best news in the world. But first, lemme just say to those who are claiming that this is "new york's version of In'N'Out": 1) Five Guys is a DC Metro area thing, NOT new york and 2) really... in'n'out is on a whole different level. But, Five Guys has always been one of my fav burger spots. Big, cheap, delicious, greasy, sloppy, what else do you need I ask?!!! Omg, the little bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions, A1, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, etc. This is pure fatty heaven. Bonus points because their bacon burgers have CRISPY bacon on it, not the floppy, gelatin-looking, half cooked bacon slices or the microwaved kind. I am so happy I finally decided to try this place. It was totally worth it, because I've been back like 4 times since then. This review is only for takeout, the crowd was intense and the place was packed so I took it home instead. The burgers are greasy and big and delicious and you can put whatever you want on them. M and I love burgers. My love for burgers started in oh, college, I think specifically at those tailgates where we stood around very cold with spiked hot chocolate when not climbing on top of the rented Uhauls. But I digress. Tonight, we went to Five Guys on Bleeker St and 7th Ave South, where he and I had the cheeseburger and fries. He got a regular and I got a small, but they both came out to be the same (my theory is that the pricing is just there to make people spend more--but maybe someone just screwed up). The toppings were free so I got lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and mushrooms and added my own ketchup. M got pickles instead of the lettuce with everything else the same but they forgot the pickles and tomatoes so he had to go back and get it separately. The burgers were good but messy. It comes with two patties, a soft white bun with sesame seeds. The meat to bread ratio is a tad high (as in, a little more meat than the bread could handle) but taste pretty good. The cajun fries were good, but unless you have 3 or more people, I'd refrain from getting the large. It was too much for the two of us. Five guys also provide peanuts to munch on while you wait (which may not be in their favor as you're less likely to really appreciate the burger if you've gorged on peanuts). The decor sucks, but what can you do at a "fast food" joint? In the end, Shake Shack is still my favorite for their potato bun and smallish burgers. Brgr comes in at a close second but they're a little pricier. I don't care for Rare that much, but I have to say, they do a pretty good job of coming up with fancy toppings (but my love of burgers started at tailgates so who wants bluecheese and avocado on a burger, really??).
