Was in the area yesterday after being an audience member on the view. This location is clean and the staff is rather quick with bringing the food to the table. They even came around and cleaned the tables without being asked. Food was made well and so good. After my meal, I took the elevator down to the bathroom. I forgot my receipt with the code for the bathroom and asked someone at the kitchen for the code. They were very kind and gave me the code. Everyone that works here was very nice. Great option for a burger and a shake. The interior and exterior features a ton of seating and was quite clean. Bathrooms are located downstairs, there is an elevator if you prefer. You order on the iPads and take your number to your table or wait by the counter just around the corner. The menu features all the signature classics and a ton of options for shakes. This "flagship" location features Shake Shack's "test kitchen" which means that some experimental items might be rotated onto the menu here. This is similar to McDonald's flagship location with international menu items in the West Loop in Chicago. If you haven't had Shake Shack before, I can see why this location might be alluring. The burgers are delicious, but require drinking 2x as much water compared to eating a 5 Guys burger. Seriously, you pay for the flavor bomb immediately and then again the next day when you wake up with a dry mouth. At my peak I was able to eat two burgers and fries, for roughly 2000 calories in one meal, but it caused stomach issues (if you're curious, 5 Guys does not cause stomach issues). As far as execution, this location needs a lot of work. First, the order kiosk screens were all greasy. Really, you can't clean them off once or twice per day? The fries in my order were served pretty close to room temperature. The burger, while delicious, was served carelessly with the patty meat touching the unwashed reused metal tray it was served on. Finally, there were no water cups where they were supposed to be, and I had to ask for them to be restocked. Finally, while Houston Street is cited as the southern border of the West Village, apparently the northwest corner is Clarkson to Varrick, meaning this location is actually in Soho despite being north of Houston. read more

Stoped in here for lunch with a colleague. They have an improved vegetarian burger with crispy onions, pickles and avacado (little extra $ but worth it). I had a side of BBQ Cheese fries (nice and crispy) with a half lemonade/half ice tea drink that was not too sweet. You can order from kiosks or in person. The person who took my order was pretty helpful and friendly. Sat and ate in. A very polite server delivered our meals and asked us if we needed anything else. The location was pretty clean and seemed organized from what I observed. I get there early to get our table. I've always found their employees to be welcoming and efficient. It's a routine you learn that is typically the same from location to location. I like this location as it's not far from my former office. I don't need to wait long for my friends to arrive during their lunch break. My burger is always moist and prepared as I requested. I love the custard for desert too. Depending on the flavors available I enjoy their shake too. Naturally the fries are yumalicious! Avoid coming around 12:30-1:30 because the lunch time crowd is heavy and you'll be waiting at least 15-20 minutes for your food. I came by solely for a shake and was waiting that amount of time. Imagine if I'd ordered a whole meal. I'd be there all day and my lunch break would already be later. I got the pride shake which is exclusive for this month and by the time it was given to me, it was melted and the whipped cream deflated. Kinda confused how that happens if it was handed to me immediately after making it. I'm assuming it was sitting there for a while or something because how else can that happen? It wasn't really a big deal honestly. Shakes can be so thick you can't even drink them until they melt but I would've liked to let it melt of my own volition instead of waiting twenty minutes for some blended milk and ice cream. The pride shake was advertised as having a cookie butter base but I felt like false advertising because it tasted like funfetti birthday cake or cake batter. It was still good! I liked it a lot, the description was just totally off. I got the churro shake the best time I went by (I think this is just for June also) and it tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch with an overpowering amount of nutmeg and cinnamon. I could barely taste the chocolate that was drizzled on the sides of the cup but it was pretty. This one wasn't melted and was the perfect consistency so I'm assuming it was just an off chance I got a liquid shake. I had to grab a quick lunch before class. The life of a student I guess. I love the new iPad ordering stations and they make it a lot easier. The restaurant wasn't too busy, and it's huge so there were plenty of tables to sit at, eat, and do some last-minute cramming, which I am definitely guilty of. Picking up from this location is a breeze. I placed my order on the app and it was ready within ten minutes. There is plenty of space to pull your car up out front if you are driving. You aren't actually allowed inside, but there is table in front of the door where you can meet an employee for your pick up order. It's quick, easy and contact free. So... on to the eats. As always, Shake Shack delivers the goods. A Shackburger is my favorite burger of all time. There's just nothing better. I also tried the chicken nuggets for the first time and they were delicious. Super crispy with very flavorful breading, and so perfect dunked in a side of shack sauce. Cheese fries are also always a must, as is a cold glass of lemonade. This location is the innovation kitchen -- they are currently offering veggie burgers which you won't find at other Shake Shacks... at lesaet I don't think so. Is it weird that even though Los Angeles has locations of Shake Shack I still like and enjoy eating it in New York? Call me weird all you want but I really do like having a good old burger when I'm on vacation. I recently stopped in for a burger and a shake and man did it take me awhile to think of which flavor shake I should get! They have too many that I actually wanted to try from Christmas cookie to a peppermint one, but I decided on trying coconut. Glad I made that choice because it was pretty tasty. Tried a burger that had crispy onions in it and it was delicious, mouth watering!! I would take this place over Five Guys any day. This location is super clean with plenty of tables and chairs around. The employees all were pretty nice. If you need help on ordering just ask and they can help you out. We went for there - the choice was our granddaughters' - after seeing a movie, Sleeping Beauty, at the Film Forum to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Lunch - hot dogs, Shack Burgers, cheeseburgers, fries, and lemonade - were tasty and fresh, making everyone from a five-year old to an, well, older folks very happy. To celebrate, in lieu of a cupcake, I bought a soft serve custard and stuck a candle in it. That's when the surprise came, Jaye and her team, having gotten wind of what I was doing, turned it into a surprise party - they dimmed the lights and the whole team arrived with a sundae and another candle and did a rendition of "Happy Birthday". At this point most of us have been to Shake Shack and pretty much know what to expect, but going to this 'Innovation Kitchen", as it's displayed on the front, has that. I figured let me check out the menu and my sandwich police hunch revealed they had a vegetarian burger - so not the mushroom burger - and a vegan version as well without cheese. Figured I should try it and obviously did. And it was actually good! Overpriced? Maybe. But delicious. I didn't need too many extra condiments, but I added a lil bit of ketchup, and even some mustard. Also had a peach ice tea which thankfully wasn't sweet at all. It actually tasted more like a peach green tea. Hopefully, they unveil this veggie/vegan burger throughout NYC and turn this 'innovation' into a reality. I've never understood all the hype and great ratings Shake Shacks get. The crinkle fries are ALWAYS either barely warm or almost cold because they make them in advance and leave them under the lamps. The shakes are "okay" tasting but I've had much better at Five Guys, Five Napkins, and almost any diner in the city. And finally, the burgers are also "okay" but a bit on the small side. Also, last night I tried the Chicken Bites for the first time and ugh, not good. The consistency and texture were good but the taste was weird. And even the barbecue sauce was sort of weird. Shake Shack is fine if you're in a hurry, you're starving, or you can't wait to get to something better. But for $50 for two people, there are many better options. read more

This is the new "Innovation Kitchen" location of Shake Shack, which is where they will be testing fun new things that might not make it to permanent menus or even other locations at all. First up, and on the menu at this location, are the delicious new Chick'n Bites. These are a nice menu addition and hopefully they start adding more of the test items for us to try. Otherwise, they have all the same classics from the 100 something other locations. While the room is big and spacious, there actually isn't that much seating, as there is a staircase in the middle of the restaurant that leads down to the Innovation Kitchen. It's a location using the kiosk ordering system like they started with at Astor Place, so it seems like it will probably be mostly takeout business for the big offices nearby. read more

It's possible to order and leave with your food without speaking to a single soul. This Shake Shack is also an innovation kitchen. What that means is you'll find things like chicken nuggets and black sesame shakes. They have new items that they'll test out here before releasing it to other locations. Came here after our Sunday sports activities. They were trialling out a new burger which I decided and it tasted so good. It seemed to be a juicier patty served with caramelised onions and watercress. It was also so nice and fresh I could have eaten another one. This shake shack is the innovation kitchen where they test out new items. It is also pretty much self serve and you can either get a buzzer or enter your number into the self service terminals. The place itself is pretty spacious with lots of clean tables and chairs. The staff are pretty helpful and friendly. One of the kids dropped their lemonade and it was promptly cleaned by the staff. Additionally they were kind enough to replace it with another one so thank you for that! One thing to note though - their signature concrete is not available here so if you are craving for this, you might have to go to another shake shack. read more

Brand New Shake Shack in Greenwich Village! The place is clean. There's plenty of seatings. It's super modern; they have self check-out and ordering devices that are super easy to use! The only down side to this is they don't print your receipt... it's going to be sent to your email. For me, it's much better to have a paper receipt in hand. The devices only takes cards. If you want to pay cash, you'd have to go to the counter and do it the old fashioned way. The staffs were nice and friendly. This location was packed just like all their other locations are, but my order still came fast and correctly. There were NO LINES! This is because they have like 7 self-ordering and check-out devices which equals to 7 cashiers. I had one Shackburger. It was fresh and delicious. Got me drooling for more! read more

I was hungry after a day of shopping and the closest Shake Shack was this location. Little did I know until I showed up that this one is also an innovation kitchen! The special food items they had were veggie and vegan burger offerings. I really wanted an OG cheeseburger though so I passed on those. They also had a few decadent drinks like a Spiced Mexican Chocolate Shake and a Cold Brew Float. I went for the Green Juice they had instead, attempting to get my fruits and veggies in with this drink that is lemonade, apples, and spinach. You order on the digital kiosks they have set up at the front as you walk in. You have options for when your order is ready. Either grab a pager or leave your number for them to text you. If you plan on taking advantage of the free wifi they have, I suggest leaving your number since your eyes are already on your phone. I love the crinkle cut fries. They offer so much surface area for crisping up! The buns on the burger were fluffy and the mix of the cheese and sauces were awesome. I will say that parts of my burger were concerningly pink but it's been a couple of hours and I'm okay so I guess it's all good. read more

Shake Shack - New York is their Innovation Centre making this the "Starbucks Reserve" of the Shake Shack world - this is where the magic happens where they trial new dishes before introducing them, including chicken nuggets and other types of burgers - they even have multiple tablets here where you can order which I really like because - It allows you to filter out for allergens and although this could be better (It states gluten if the burger has a gluten bun at first - why doesn't it suggest modifications as this might make people think the burger contains gluten when it doesn't if you request a gluten-free bun for an extra dollar? You can then select an allergy to give the kitchen a note so they make it fresh and away from cross-contamination! - It makes the whole menu simpler and digital and easier to understand, you can see the price difference between single, double and treble burgers etc - You can email yourself a receipt which I find easier and it's better on the environment. - You can type in your mobile phone number to get a text when your order is ready, sadly this doesn't work for UK numbers so I could never get a text and as I used a side tablet I wasn't able to type in a pager number and I didn't get the option - I had to wait at the counter like a confused child who'd lost their parents until they shouted my name. My food did take a while to come but my burger was good quality - it was seasoned well and the bun was good too, it made the Brooklyn branch look like a whole different company - the bun was well worth the extra dollar too as it was crispy, good and safe for me as a coeliac! I do feel they're missing a trick by not offering gluten-free fries, especially at this location as it isn't hard especially for a large chain burger joint at their flagship location to have a separate frier as it makes no sense for the fries to start off gluten-free and then be contaminated by the Shroom burgers and co - if Five Guys, McDonald's and co can do it there's little reason Shake Shack can't, right? I was quite happy with my burger and minus a few flaws, this is a pretty good location and probably one of the best items of food I've had since arriving in NYC. As far as the double burger goes--it definitely is good, but not nearly one of the best in the city. However, the fried chicken sandwich is pretty top notch. I was unaware this shake shack was an "innovation kitchen" until I arrived and was welcomed with a kiosk. It's a pretty good system if you're no stranger to the shake shack menu. Everything is completely customizable here, and I think it's a lot easier to go through the menu and get exactly what you want. There were plenty of tablets for a quick order process, however you are guaranteed to wait a while for your food. Because there is no tradition cash register area the whole restaurant seems to be a waiting room. You'll order your food in no time and then hand around until your buzzer goes off or you get your name called out. The food is pretty standard shake shack food with nothing too out of the ordinary that is going to change your experience. There is a lower level that does not have any extra seating. I'm so glad I have a shake shack nearby because when the burger and milkshake craving hits, this is my absolute go to! I'm vegetarian and I usually always get the shroom burger, which initially looks small but is actually quite filling. The patty itself is a whole mushroom stuffed with ooey gooey cheese!! Delicious, especially when you eat it right after it's made (be careful not to burn your mouth with all the excitement to bite into it). I've also tried their new veggie shack burger, and I gotta day they are doing veggie patties real right!! The patty was so good with a perfectly crispy outer layer and the shack sauce on top was amazing. I got a veggie burger for my brother once too and he was blown away..said it was the best he's had! Just goes to say, try their veggie burgers!! Also I hope it makes it onto the permanent menu! And if course have to wash all this down with one of their shakes. I like the salted caramel the best! Making delicious food that and the end of the day is not going to break the bank. Sure you end up spending more than you expected here, but that's only because you got that inner fat kid who wants to try everything. Still it's not breaking the bank. A sandwich/burger, a side, cheese fries, and a soda was still less than $20. And yes, that was all for me. While I don't know what will be on the menu when you come, I can tell you about what I got and highly recommend you snag it too. Apparently the chicken nuggets or tenders are usually on the menu. This isn't normal fast food chicken that's filled with of gym mats. It's real chicken and it's succulent as it gets at this level. I was lucky enough to try their chicken parm which I was super skeptical about at first, but oh man did it taste good. I don't know how they do it. One day when I was walking by I saw they teamed up with the cronut people and made some insane breakfast egg sandwich. Line was around the block and ain't no one got time for that. Yes, Shake Shack is everywhere now. But this one is different. This is their Innovation Kitchen where they test out new items before deciding to roll them out to all the other Shake Shack locations. This is where chicken nuggets were perfected before they were released onto the menu at all their stores. You never know what you're going to find on the menu when you come here. We tried a burger that had a sesame bun and these pickled onions that really added depth of flavor and crunch to the burger. The beef patties also seemed more beefy and were cooked more "smashed" than usual, so they had a nice golden brown char to them. There's an ever-changing menu of lemonades and milkshakes to try. Supposedly you can fill out a survey with your thoughts, although I did not see them available when I was there. Pricing is usual Shake Shack pricing, so a little bit pricier than your average upscale casual burger place. read more

Health grade score of 'A' ? In what sick world was that rating given? I've been a long time Shake Shack patron, and never have I ever been more disgusted than I am today. I bought a couple burgers to-go for lunch and upon unveiling my meal at home, I noticed that one of the burgers had a patty that was already bitten into (refer to pictures). Despite it being lunch time, mind you, the place wasn't even packed and the chefs had PLENTY of time to prepare a normal appearing burger. Now, what if it was just a fluke. Maybe a perfectly circumferential piece of meat dislodged from the edge of the patty? Or maybe, the cook was baking cookies on the side and mistakenly thought the patty was the corner of some dough. Both are logical possibilities...... for people not from Earth. What a waste of time and money on a meal. I'm still waiting to hear back from Shake Shack after I contacted them.
