The restaurant is absolutely filthy. Not one single table cleaned. Had to clean my own table. They seem blind to conditions. Peanut shells all over the floor like I'm at the circus. I am a student at cal state north ridge, so I eat there at least every 2 to 3 weeks. I used to really like them but I guess its a miss and hit kind of a restaurant. sometimes the food is really good and I want to comeback and other times I cant understand why the food tastes the way it does... under-cooked, overcooked, there is no consistency. I think everyone will agree with that. Aside from that, the food gets too you fairly fast, its really cheap (McDonald status), and the services is probably a 5 for a fast food restaurant. My sisters fiance swears by this place... I've wanted to try it for a long time to see what all the hype was about. Located right across from IN n Out.. Now that takes balls... Ordered a cheese burger with fries. The guy taking our order was very helpful and right away figured out that it was our first time. BF ordered the Double Cheese Burger. We also got an order of fries (the guy taking the order said it was big enough to share) We helped ourselves to the free peanuts until the food was ready. Got the Burger, I was excited to take my first bite... Here we goooo... bite one... wait what? this is it? this is what all the hype is about? Just an average burger... and the fries were just ok too. This place is overall just OK! and I defiantly have experienced better... Will I be back? sure its not gross food and If friends (sister, fiance, or others) really want go here to eat I wont complain as I said its OK! Five guys is an decent burger joint that was probably ruined for me before it even started because so many people described it as the in-n-out of the East. I have been 3 times now and have finally decided to make my review. All 3 times i had roughly the same basic thing Bacon Cheeseburger, mayo,lettuce, & grilled mushrooms. It was an okay burger that is wrapped up in foil like i used to get at the high school cafeteria. Having had it a few times, it is decent but there is not a lot of flavor to the burger and the way they wrap it in foil really smashes your burger. (as you can see in most photos) The free peanuts are a nice touch but not really much of a value add to me. Peanuts are best enjoyed at the ballpark, and many people with no etiquette just throw the shells on the floor which is super nasty. The fries are a bright point and it is kind of neat to know what farm they came from, but in my opinion the never cook them long enough. When i asked for well done they came out pretty much the same so no sure what the deal is there. Tried the Cajun fries as well, meh, they were interesting but not worth the hype. I have had much better seasoned fries at other places so its not worth going out of your way for them here. The line can be long at times as well so be ready to wait at lunch for sure. Overall if your passing by and want to try it I say do so, and I will probably eat there again if enough people from work want to go at lunchtime. It is still a decent burger joint for the fast casual type of restaurant it is and worth a shot if you are passing by and the in-n-out line across the parking lot is too long. Adam and the crew from Five Guys came through and saved our order. My daughter ordered for her friends through UberEats and the driver forgot one bag. I called quickly and he was able to find our burgers and kept them warm, I got there and he made my daughter's complimentary shakes. Five Guys Studio City: 5 stars Five Guys Northridge: 4 stars Appears to be franchised and Studio City does it right. All the way but nix the mushrooms; don't know why but they screw up a great burger... and I like mushrooms. Every time I've been to Northridge the burger has disappointed; way too much mustard and ketchup but there's something else that's off that I can't figure out. They also seem to be able to consistently serve burnt, undercooked french fries and I can't figure out that trick either. ** Last visit to Northridge they appear to have fixed the fryer and the odd tasting burgers are history. read more

I should've known to stick with the sure thing and just go to In-N- Out. Pretty sure I will not be eating here again. Not sure how this place is even in business being right next to In-N-Out. How is this place famous again? Someone PLEASE remind me because of all the things I've heard about this place, my experience eating their burgers was far from it! Now, the line was rather long when I went there so I was a bit annoyed by that but I chalk it up to peoples interest in a place that's received good reviews from various media outlets. No biggie. Then, as I was waiting in line, I was watching the food being made by the workers and I don't know, maybe it's me, but I found their assembly line method to making food orders a bit troubling because I've never been to a fast food joint where food was prepared very much like the way cars are. Theoretically it's supposed to be efficient right? But it wasn't. Do you REALLY need one person to only put ketchup and mustard on the buns? One person to JUST put on the toppings? One person to wait on semi prepared burger until the cook turns around and plops down the patty on said semi prepared burger? And at the very end, have just ONE person solely responsible for wrapping up the food? It took about 6 people to make a simple burger! Now, let's talk about food. Compared to other, more bigger fast food places (McDonalds, Burger King, Carls Jr and Jack N The Box), Five Guys does taste better. More fresh. But no more fresher than say a small mom & pop joint. Even then, mom & pop shops sell their stuff cheaper so how they explain the cost of their burgers is beyond me. Maybe to pay all those workers. Don't get me wrong, being that Five Guys does employ so many workers in this tough economy is a great thing but it just complicates what is supposed to be a simple product. Also, the buns were really fragile and brittle. I have had burgers from other places break up on me (which bothers me sometimes...but...) but the bread literally disintegrated. Like saw dust. TF?! Walked in after we had ordered to sit in but apparently we had called the wrong location but Diego there still made us feel like the fault was all his and assured us that he would get our orders started right away. He lived up to his word when our orders where our faster than quoted on the phone. Dude, come on. Is everyone super stoned when they eat here or just so used to the garbage they serve at McDonald's that this place is great in comparison? Decided to try this place after hearing all the raves and was super disappointed. The boyfriend and I ordered 2 single patty cheeseburgers, one order of fries and one beverage to share. $17 and change. I'm fully willing to pay accordingly for quality but this seemed pricey to me. The verdict on taste: sucked! My burger was falling apart so I opened that sucker up to put it back together and found that I was not given an actual burger patty but rather what appeared to be thrown together pieces of broken up patties. I'm all about recycling but don't give me the broken off scraps from other customers' burgers. Overall taste of the burger, despite the presentation, was mediocre at best. I could give you a long list of places that serve a better burger. The fries can only be described as a crime against the potato. Soggy, undercooked, tasteless. An abomination. Wish we would have gone next door to In N Out instead. Would have spent less money and gotten a way better meal. I'm sorry for cheating on you, In N Out! Lesson learned. P.S. 12 dollars for a fast food meal is just wrong. Marie Calendar's was right across the street -- if I wanted to spend that much for a decent burger I might have gone there. The Five Guys burger tasted like a Super Star. That is to say, it was quite good. The problem is, I don't have to put down a mortgage on a Super Star. 12 dollars (for a burger, fries, and drink) is seriously steep for the quality, which was mid level. The Cajun fries were somewhere between good and bad. When they were crispy, they were money - when they were soggy, they were really unappealing. I didn't finish them. I do on the other hand always finish my Animal Style babies, and even when I don't get those, normal fries with a packet of "spread" is more than good enough. In 'n Out is of comparable quality. The portions are just as reasonable, and the price significantly lower. They are more convenient, and have considerably more character. Also: shakes -- the proverbial strike three. Maybe even more importantly, an In 'n Out burger always tastes uniquely like an In 'n Out burger. There's something about the fit and finish that makes it a special treat, a real burger among burgers or, a "burger's burger" if you will. Five Guys tasted fine, but it was generic, and gastronomically unnerving (so to speak). I see that this has turned into a big grudge match between INO and 5G's, and rightfully so. When you set up shop across the street from your most notorious competitor, you're setting a precedent. When you plaster your walls and windows with positive reviews from East Coast publications, you're setting a precedent, and when you charge 12 dollars for an unhealthy meal of questionable quality, you're also setting a precedent; that precedent in particular being the most dangerous and brutish. Remember Border's? Remember how they admittedly overcharged customers for products that could have been bought cheaper elsewhere? Remember what happened to that stupid company? Came in thhere were 3 guys cookinh and no onw talking orders. After taking a phone call one of the cooks finally took our order. While you can eat in everything is served ia a to go bag. The fries were a little saggy but were freshly cut. The burger is wrappen in foil. I assumme ro keep the heat in. They are generous with the tomato and onion. The burger itself is above average. I had heard rave reviews about 5 Guys Burgers and Fries and found myself hungry while driving through Northridge so decided to give it a try. The very first thing my son and I noticed as we walked through the door was the uncanny resemblance to In-N-Out in the way it looked but definitely didn't look like In-N-Out as far as the amount of customers. The In-N-Out next door was packed while this place was almost empty....hint number 1. I ordered the little burger with mayo, lettuce, tomato, bacon and grilled mushrooms...similar to my favorite burger I get at the Habit. What a colossal disappointment!!! Not only was it more expensive than the wonderful burger I get at least once a week at the Habit but it was also completely flavorless. The meat had no flavor at all. The bun was similar in consistency and flavor to the 12 pack of buns you can get at the grocery for .99. We also ordered fries that were obviously made from real potatoes but there was nothing special about them other than the fact that I could visually see how greasy they were because of the brown paper bag that our food came in. Actually, let me take a moment to comment on that brown paper bag. It reminded me of those times when you're on a road trip and are so absolutely famished that you'll eat anything from anywhere and you end up stopping at the very next burger joint you see. It seems like the food is always given to you in a brown paper bag that is completely soaked in grease. You almost expect to see a cockroach or something. That's how I felt getting my food at 5 Guys.....and I didn't even order it to go so why did it come in a paper bag? Why not use trays or baskets like everyone else so that you don't have to dig through 4 inches of burning hot, greasy fries to get to your hamburger. The entire restaurant was covered in awards and kudos for being the best burgers ever. I pointed out to my son that all of those awards and such were from the east coast. This is SoCal - your burgers don't even RANK here!!! ...and you had the balls to open your restaurant right next door to In-N-Out?!? Fools!!!! There were only two things I liked about 5 Guys: They played great classic rock and they had all-you-can-eat free peanuts. Otherwise, overpriced and completely unremarkable. Overloaded toppings, the bun is the same bun you will find on a Burger King Whopper Jr, and it also had a similar taste with the lettuce and pickles they use. and the fries were waaay overdone, Strike 3 and Im out! also the cheese wasnt even melted!!! Went to in n out right after bc I couldnt go to bed hungry. Got a double double animal everything and a Large coke...about 8 bucks and change..... Also you pple need to try the Habbit if you think these burgers are good. Anyone can can grill a better burger. I really was craving a burger tonight. We came to Five Guys for dinner. In the last almost three years this was hands down the best burgers we have ever had from here. Fries were on point too. I personally prefer softer fries, and they were perfect. But, these burgers were amazing. Juicy and the bacon was not over cooked like the last few times. The bacon was soft and tasted like bacon. The hamburgers here are actually my favorite fast food burgers. The Cajun fries are good as well, but I have to be in the mood for something way over seasoned with Cajun.
