I was starving after work and couldn't wait any longer to grab a messy, greasy, satisfying burger. Google Maps hilariously took me to a TJ Maxx first (note to self: trust Yelp next time ). I LIVE 5 Guys burgers so it's always a go-to place. However, the shop wasn't busy but our burgers were unusually soggy- the bottom bun was inedible. In addition , we ordered a large fry but didn't even have leftover overs for our dogs. It was about the same amount as a medium. read more

It's strange that I haven't ever reviewed this place. We first discovered Five Guys in Virginia. We were thrilled that we ended up getting one here in Ocala. Whenever we go there, the burgers and fries are always consistent. This past visit I ordered a milkshake. It was very good and filling. It was a chocolate peanut butter shake. Five guys is a not to fast food but the burgers are well worth waiting for. The generous fries are fried in peanut oil and are always locally grown and supplier is listed on the board. While your waiting, make sure to munch on some peanuts. We stopped into Five Guys because we heard the change n will be closing and we wanted to have one of their delicious burgers. The burgers were as good as ever, but the chain no longer had the positive energy they have been known for. No friendly chatter or in the kin, just workers building the burgers. The crew at the Ocala Five Guys made our birthday boy's night. Our six year old asked for a Five Guys hot dog for his birthday dinner. After playing at the mouse's kid arcade, we descended on this location with 7 adults and 3 children. We all ate hot and delicious meals for $125. Absolute worst five guys I have ever eaten at. This place really has some issues that need to be addressed. There was one individual ahead of us (other two people inside had their food ) and it took 17 minutes to get my burger !! To add insult to injury, it was drenched, and I mean drenched in ketchup and mustard (was running out all edges of bun) , so I had to wait another long wait to get another one WITHoUT ketchup and mustard ! In general Five Guys is usually great. My visit to this location is only worth 3-Stars. Six people behind the counter and only one was actually working or cleaning. The others were goofing off and on their phone. Two other employees were just hanging out in the dining area playing on their phones also and drinking sodas. So, only one person was actually working. Not sure if that changed with new customers coming it but during my visit all I saw was employees goofing off. My burger wasn't as tasty as usual adding to the lower score also. read more

5 Guys probably makes some of the better fast burgers in town. Burgers are consistently good and the variety of toppings makes it even better. One critique I have is that the fries often come out soggy. I have asked on numerous occasions to please make the fries well done and they state they cannot make fries well done because the fries lose their flavor! Well hello, theres plenty of people who still like golden brown fries that are not soggy. So no fries for me from now on, which sucks because they charge enough for french fries you think they would make them the way you order them. Major pet peeve for me. Five Guys is awesome. The burgers are the best anywhere. A regular burger is a double. You have to order a "little burger" to get a single. When I heard that before ever visiting a Five Guys, I knew this was my kind of place. Then when I saw the fry cook dump what equated to an extra order of fries on top, I knew I was in heaven. Great food, great atmosphere and the employees are always great. There's another location out on West 200 just before CR484. Same great food and service. MY BURGER: Bacon burger, all the way (lett, tom, pick, grilled onion, grilled mushroom, green pepper, ketch, must, mayo), ask for the pepper to be grilled, add raw onion and A-1. You will not be disappointed. My 10 year old (who hates veggies) tears this burger up. read more

They were nearly empty when we go there, and we just ordered 2 burgers to go. The service was very slow, especially considering there were literally maybe 2-3 customers in the restaurant. It took "a while" for the burger which usually isn't a problem for me at Five Guys, but when we got the food it was cold and tasted old. Not too long ago I went there with a friend of mine. No one was in there just to us. Never been before and I'm a hamburger person. We ordered two fries and a hamburger. Music is a little loud and apparently they didn't hear us say hamburger. The person that was with me heard me loud and clear when I said I would like a hamburger. I think it was like $15 later we got two fries and no hamburger. The guy in the back who was the cook didn't seem to be too happy. You can tell from someone's actions that they're just not having a wonderful day. We get to the car and we start driving home and we start tasting our fries nothing but pure sugar. They poured sugar over the fries. What if they would have poured something else that could have killed us or made us sick. Lord have mercy. The fries were very soggy no texture. I should have just taken $15 and shoved it out my window when I was driving. I get a message from the manager he took care of it and he gave me a free order of whatever I want. I got news for you if you buy anything from them you could easily get sick or die. Please stay away from this place 'cause you might die. I'm giving one star because of a few reasons being a first time customer. Upon arriving there was nobody in line and only one couple in the entire restaurant. When we walked in the door we were greeted, I told him thank you and this was my first visit so please give me a couple of minutes. As soon as I say that they're asking how many patties would you like once again I asked please wait a minute I was not going to get a burger I was going to veggies , but since they asked again the gentleman that brought me says two single patties, so now I don't have a choice I'm getting a burger.the menu board is very overwhelming for a first time customer and being rushed through the process I couldn't even look over the whole menu. The decor in the restaurant showcased mini articles and praises of this restaurant chain, they should think about putting a menu on the wall ((Like The Deco)) So that people are not forced and rushed and can stand off to the side if they like, So I order a bacon cheeseburger. But what do I get I get a bacon double cheeseburger, which was too much for me thank you for the extra Patty but I don't want it so I took it back up there to ask them for just a piece of cheese because if I take the Patty off now I'm not gonna have chz on my burger. So after three times of me having to yell hello finally somebody came from the back, I told him the issue instead of just giving me a piece of cheese he insisted on making a whole New sandwich which thank you but it wasn't necessary and this is why costs are so high in restaurants. The gentleman I talked to i asked if he was charged for that, & He I told me No!! But when my burger was done he said oh yeah I guess you didn't know you did say something about you being here for the first time. I still don't know what that meant, but we were definitely charged for it,The Receipt on the bag says three patties. They were very friendly offered me a milkshake because of all of the trouble and when I finally did get the correct sandwich it was delicious!!! However the burger tasted great!! Definitely wasn't a big juicy Patty.Not sure if I ever want to go through that stress again so I don't know if I ever will return. Being in Ocala for reasons well beyond my control, I was determined to try this burger - if you're from CA, you'll want to know one thing. In & Out wins by unanimous decision - no TKO mind you, but no split decision either - a clear win. In & Out is superior because of its classic symmetries - graceful in the hand and 'complete' with each tasty bite. So yes, it's better - but it's close enough that this will truly boil down to a preference thing. I suspect the fatter you are, the less restraint you show in eating, and the more you like to be overwhelmed by your food, the more you'll like 5 Guys. Well what the hell does that mean? 5 Guys is far and away better than your average burger chain and should be coming to CA soon. The key is to get the single patty and not to overdo the toppings - the 'regular' burger is 2 patties and if you have one topping more (not including condiments) than cheese, onion, lettuce, tomato, pickle (and it's tempting, because all the toppings are free), you will get a burger so crammed and squishy that it will collapse in your hands. What kind of a good burger is a mushy burger? This one - but only just so - collapsing wet bread is an inferior result. In addition to the toppings listed above (I tried the regular, 2 patty burger), I also added the grilled mushrooms - it was so messy that I might as well have torn it to pieces at the start, mushed it around, and just started 'true' finger-eating like I was eating in Mumbai. (Cf., the In & Out Double Double, which never collapses in your hand.) Fries. Well, nothing beats hot fries from McDonald's, so clearly fries do not make greatness. I'm not exactly enamored with In & Out fries either (though they grow on you). 5 Guys? I shared both the Cajun and regular fries and both were good - hot and salty, though I doubt I'll try the Cajun again. We ordered the 'small' sized fries for both types and it was far too much - one order of the 'small' fries could have fed the 3 of us very easily. We threw away most of our fries at the end of the meal. I said to my dining companions: "Is it any wonder we have an obesity epidemic in this country?" Free refills on the sodas will charm some - and you'll probably need it to wash down all the food. Incidentally, why would anyone ever order a large soda if you get free refills? You can't stand not drinking as much soda as possible without having to stand up again? Really? Obesity, much? Diabetes, anyone? There is one detail that 5 Guys has that I love seeing - the free self-serve peanuts (in the shell). How can you not love that? Great touch. Adds to the fun of the eating experience. I expect 5 Guys will grow on me as I refine my choice of toppings and my waist-size grows commensurately with age. And I'd definitely split my time between In & Out and 5 Guys if they were door to door - but that ratio would fall along 4 to 1. read more

NONE of us will EVER EAT AT FIVE GUYS ON 200 again. EVER. The staff was absolutely RUDE! they had 4 members working, about 7 customers waiting in the entire place, we placed our order online and although it took us 22 minutes to drive here, we still waited nearly 20 more minutes for the food which was expected to be out at 7. We called as soon as we arrived, just as instructed. One staff member picked up the phone, put us on hold and never came back to the phone. when the food was finally brought out to us, the blonde curly haired guy practically SHOVED THE BAG IN MY HAND AND WALKED AWAY. i called to him over and over but he walked in the door and never even looked back at me.
