The first time I heard about Five Guys was from my best friend's boyfriend. At the time, they had just started sprouting up around Florida and he used to be obsessed with finding one for us to stop at so he could get a burger (ok, let's be honest a FEW burgers) there. Being someone who doesn't usually eat a ton of red meat, I was unsure about this greasy, fast-food-esque place called Five Guys. Essentially, I put off going to Five Guys for a while until finally my boyfriend talked me into it. And when I had my first bite of that Five Guys cheeseburger-y goodness, I suddenly understood what all of the hype was about. Yes, at the end of the day Five Guys really just sells greasy burgers and grimy fries doused in peanut oil. BUT, at the end of the day they are so delicious and addictive that no matter what your mind is telling you (ex: what the hell are you eating? this is obviously bad for you!) you will continue to eat there regardless. This is the first Orlando location I went to, as I used to live right next door in Waterford Lakes. It is where I discovered the cheesburger-y goodness. The location itself in the plaza is pretty good, right across from the Regal theater on the corner of a building (so it is a large Five Guys with plenty of tables both inside and outside). Would definitely make a good prequel to getting some cupcakes around the corner at Sweet. :-D read more

Five Guys is for sure my favorite burger out there. I first visited this place back in my college days, and every time since it never fails to bring back those same feelings that first bite gave me. The burgers themselves are made perfectly, but the extra cherry on top is where you can customize your toppings. Being able to make a burger exactly to your liking without feeling awkward when adding or subbing items at other places makes this one of my favorite places to go for my burger cravings. Service is relatively quick given that they cook all of their burgers to order. They pile their fries high (one serving of regular fries is enough for two people), and they even have peanuts to munch on while you wait for your order number to be called. If this place was closer to me, I'd go every week (probably for the best). If you're craving a burger made just the way you like it, give this place a try! read more

Unfortunately, they have no drive through, and while they are pricier than the McD's type chains; the custom selections will give you whatever is truly "your way" on their first try. If you've ever had a burger at Five Guys, you know they're hard to beat. Fries too. So you might tempted to visit the Alafaya Trail location in Orlando. But don't. After a shockingly negative experience there, Five Guys has seen the last of me. On approach, the over-loud music blasting from the restaurant onto the sidewalk told me to turn back, but I foolishly continued in. As I waited for my meal, the volume was raised even further for "Don't Stop Believin'." So loud now I could not take part in normal conversation at my own table. I looked across the restaurant to a woman taking orders at the register and shook my head. She looked pained, glancing back at someone who appeared to be her supervisor. Her expression seemed to say, "I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do." Now, I understand there are lots of "Don't Stop Believin'" fans, so I waited patiently, hoping the volume might soon be lowered to a reasonable volume after this favorite. But the supervisor only glared at me and then disappeared into the back room. Minutes later, I asked the woman at the register to please turn down the music. "I'm sorry," she said, "There's nothing I can do." She appeared fearful of crossing her supervisor. "Of course there's something you can do," I insisted. "I'd like to speak to the manager." She went into the back room for a moment, and then returned with her supervisor, who announced loudly, after I politely asked him to turn down the music, "You're not going to flip me off, then tell me what to do!" Flip you off? Huh? This supervisor, who I was told is called "Sanchez," is obviously confused. He mistakenly assumes that his customers are like him. They're not. Up until this point, I hadn't even considered a rude gesture. But now I was mad. I requested a refund and promptly left my uneaten food behind. Unfortunately for Five Guys, Mr. Sanchez seems to believe that his work place is his personal frat house. It's not. It's a business. Not only did Mr. Sanchez drive away a customer and waste $15 worth of food, but he also demonstrated abysmal leadership for the other staff at Five Guys. All who overheard him were clearly embarrassed and uncomfortable. Another employee was reluctant even to tell me his supervisor's name. It appeared to me that these employees had experienced Mr. Sanchez's retaliation before. If I were general manager, D. White, I'd invite Mr. Sanchez to seek employment--and listening pleasure--elsewhere. read more

The cheese on the burger wasn't even melted and the fries were well over done 28 bucks for two burgers one regular fries and two regular drinks is on the expensive side so you expect more . On top of all that I had to wipe my own table off and the floor hadn't been swept in quite a while . And the soda machine has a active water leak which they just put a wet floor sign up ... Five Guys has won all sorts of awards for having the best burgers, so when they opened up we were pretty excited. When we arrived, the line was out the door and people were circling tables waiting for other people to leave. Surely, the hype must be true! Of course, I ordered a bacon cheese burger and some fries. My wife, being a pescatarian opted for the grilled cheese (no, she did not expect to have many options at a burger joint, and was fine with that). My wife is not a super strict pescatarian that refuses to eat anything cooked on the same griddle as meat, but I do know some pesca/vegetarians like that. If you have an issue with that, go ahead and just order fries. The grilled cheese is cooked on the same griddle and with the same spatulas as the burgers and hot dogs. Not an issue for us, but your mileage may vary. So, moment of truth. How's the burger? Honestly? I'm not sure. All I tasted was grease. A big pile of grease. I love big juicy burgers, but this wasn't one of those. The burger was fairly sized, but it was an unseasoned mess of greasy... what I assume was beef. The fries were also supposed to be epic. So, we were hoping for some salvation in those. Again, under-seasoned and bland. On the plus side.. they were cooked and less greasy, and there was plenty of ketchup to give them some sort of taste. There was quite a bit of hype built up prior to my first visit to Five Guys. I was told by a couple of friends that their juicy burgers come with your choice of single or double beef patties, bacon and unlimited toppings. Another plus, is that the burgers are cooked fresh and made to order. I was also told that if I were to purchase an order of fries, it'd feed 2-3 people. Sounds great to me!! A couple of times I've driven by the joint, it 's been packed with people almost waiting outside the door! No exception when I arrived on the scene. Even though the line was long, I would say their efficiency of service was relatively good considering the crowds. The menu here is bona fide ALL AMERICAN BURGERS and HOT DOGS. So if you're looking for a more diverse burger joint menu, it won't happen here. I like to think of myself as being the discerning eater, so I tend to keep my red meat intake few and far between. Only beef burgers at Five Guys. I'm accustomed to having a Turkey Burger or Chicken Breast option so this was a bit of a let down. I still enjoy a red meat burger, but I like having other options as well. Now, I feel forced to eat only cow. You also won't find more unique toppings such as sprouts, fried egg or avocado. Another let down was that every burger has American cheese by default. Pepper Jack, Swiss, Provolone, Cheddar, etc. are no where to be found as an option. Which is a shame because the cheese can completely make or break a burger for me. I would've loved to see sweet potato fries as an option, but on the plus side, you have a choice of regular or cajun fries deep fried in their much marketed peanut oil. I was anticipating a sackfull of fries only to receive a paper cup full. I guess my friend went overboard when hyping up the amount of fries you receive. Despite a few disappointments, I ordered a double burger with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, A-1, and green peppers. I received my order in a greasy brown bag. Nice. As soon as I opened the bag, I knew I was about to suspend my healthy nature and receive a serious gut bomb. The burger was a tad bit smaller than I imagined, but good nonetheless. A greasy, hot, fresh, sloppy, no frills burger (The burger pictured for this location is not how it looks like at all). Like many previous reviews, I have to agree.. the grease overwhelms the flavor of the ingredients. I enjoyed the burger, but nothing WOW'd me about it. I am baffled by positive reviews of Five Guys. The burgers are greasy and tasteless. [Now I do enjoy your basic serving of grease-laden food with most meals and I personally have added grease to my own food pyramid.] But grease usually means flavor. Not here. Picture simmering a ground beef patty in boiling water until it turns brown, then layering it onto a bun. The buns are instantly soggy with grease and quickly fall apart. FG's are very generous with servings of fries, which are hot, soggy, and limp from, well, grease. if you have no choice but to eat there, add way too much salt and pepper. To top it off, the prices are high! And Backyard Burgers are SO good, with a freshly toasted bun, flavorful burger, and fresh lettuce and tomatoes. I much prefer Burger King to Five Guys. Or... Five Guys = delicious, greasy goodness! I finally tried this place last night and let me tell you, it lives up to all the hype! The burgers are gloriously huge and juicy. Cooked to perfection and made with excellent beef. I'm not even a burger person (I've honestly eaten about 1 in the past year), and I have become a BELIEVER! Their regular burgers have two patties, so if you're just looking for a regular burger order one of the "little" burgers. The fries are awesome and try not to be disuaded by the fact that they are so greasy they will turn the paper bag they come in CLEAR. I guarantee you that they are totally worth the exhorbitant amount of calories that I'm sure they contain! The only downside (and reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that they can get insanely busy. This caused them to mess up our order. They put the wrong toppings on my husband's burger and gave us regular fries instead of cajun. Do not let this particular Five Guys ruin the entire chain for you, this is the worst one I have ever been to. I would suggest trying the one near the Altamonte Mall in Altamonte Springs. That's the location where I fell in love, and I was excited as all heck when I saw they were building one in the Waterford Lakes plaza, as it's right around the corner from my house. They had a great start, I went there on the first day, but every visit since has seen the quality/care decline DRASTICALLY. One of my experiences was very similar to Jerry's experience, unfortunately. Greasy and mostly tasteless. The cashiers are always nice enough, but the people who give you your food can be very short with you, and have, on multiple occasions, made it very apparent that I was inconveniencing them by asking for a side of BBQ sauce. In summation, please do yourself a favor, skip the Five Guys in Waterford Lakes, and take the drive out to Altamonte Springs location to taste a truly awesome burger. I have never had a bad experience at five guys until tonight. I ordered a chocolate milkshake with Oreo cookies and it had ZERO chocolate flavor. It tasted like a vanilla milkshake you could get at McDonald's. If I wanted a crappy chocolate milkshake I could've gone there and gotten it for much cheaper. Normally their milkshakes are always great, I was so disappointed in it that I'm actually writing this review. I've never had a Five Guys burger. I was very hungry today, and wanted a burger, and knew Uber Eats delivered from this location, so I gave it a try. TONS of fries, and the fries were very good. The burger? Um. Well. The patties were dry, and could've used some salt (and I hate salt). Very bland. I asked for grilled onions and grilled mushrooms, and both were utterly flavorless. The tomatoes were good. The condiments were just the right amount. But those patties were dry. Is it the worst burger I've ever had? No. Do I think I got what I paid for? No. It was a bit pricey. There are three or four within the area of our home, and this is the only one we go where we know for a fact that we will get a perfect burger, fantastic fries, and amazing customer service! Don't order online for curbside pick-up if thete is a chance of rain because they won't bring your food out. The app lets you tell them when you are on your way and again when you get there. They had my car details and my phone number. I got there before the rain started. I sat in my car for 15 minutes before I finally called them asking where my order was. This is a newer location for the Chain. I have dined at the Baldwin Park Location and loved IT! On our way to see the Movie Kick Ass, (YELP NEEDS A MOVIE REVIEW SECTION, hint, hint...) She ordered a a simple Cheeseburger and a side of fries and I went with a bacon mushroom, onion, pepper, all condiment fully dripping wet offering of Artery clogging greatness that is AMBROSIA'esque(?)lol. We live, we EAT, we die. Why not die while chomping away at something that tastes so great you forget that you are in public whilst a disgusting red, yellow and white trail rolls down your chin. OK, I am a fan. BUT the fries, even though they are fresh (cut every day, I believe, from vine ripened potatoes.....ok, not funny) they are a tad tasteless for my taste(buds). You know, that's what was missing, a slightly chilled Hiene. Maybe next time. Total for the drinks and the food was close to $24.00. I've never been to northern Siberia in winter before, but I imagine it's probably a lot like the inside of this Five Guys. The burgers are fantastic so I've never let the risk of hypothermia steer me away, but I still have to wonder, is it really that hard to make it a little warmer? I've come after heavy rains, when the outdoor tables are completely soaked, and seen people who would rather go outside and attempt to dry them off with napkins than sit inside. I've learned to manage it, making sure to equip myself with an Alaskan Inuit parka, two sets of wool socks, and tundra grade thermal underwear before going there for lunch, but it pains me to see time and time again hungry customers, children, me, suffering due to the arctic climate of this establishment. The burgers were great. Fries great. However, waiting over 30 minutes....not so much. They were busy but Ive seen them busier and still get food out in under 15 minutes. Usually there are always burgers on the grill etc. But no...there were people waiting for their food and employees just standing around. 2 on break outside. 1 by the fry station just standing. And one sweeping. 3 actually working on food. So if I am a manager at this location and I see people standing around for over 30 minutes waiting on food then Im saying sweeping can wait a few minutes....only one person on break at a time. 2 people on the grill, 2 assembling burgers, 2 on fry station etc. There were times where there was not a single burger on the grill. When usually the whole grill is covered in burgers cooking. Very poor management. read more
