Pros: AWESOME food. They have probably the best by far 'fast food'. Burgers are pretty customizable, with many toppings to choose from. Their fries are HUGE, so even the small (which is a small cup) is enough for two people as they dump a bunch more in the bag! Cons: It's not really a problem on their end.. but there is never enough seating... the place is always packed! It's also very open so privacy isn't happening. It's pretty loud with the music and being so busy, if that's a concern for some people. It can be a little pricy for being a burger joint. read more

I'm not a big fan of Five Guys. I think their burgers stress quantity over quality. I can't eat that much, and didn't really like what I had. The fries are better than the burgers IMO, but they're greasy. I would every single time go to State Burger, which is right around the corner. I will say though that my kids prefer the Five Guys fries to the State Burger fries. My kids and I disagree. read more

We've eaten here multiple times. The burgers are good, but not great. They are pretty BIG, and the fries are a hefty amount too. I do love the simplicity of the menu, and the speed after ordering. Burgers and fries are good but overpriced and the service is completely awful! I didn't leave a review last time and only came with someone for their food this time but I just had to leave a review. We came in with 20 minutes left before closing and the girl at the counter was not too happy about the customers coming in within the closing time. We were so embarrassed. Had family visiting and suggested Five Guys for a quick dinner. We walked in and should have walked right out. The place was busy. No line though. Not a single clean table. The floor was very cluttered. The guy at the register was not friendly at all. This is so out of character. The drink station was dirty and there was no ketchup in the two large dispensers. There were no trays for the peanuts. The burgers were dry and one burger in our party was prepared incorrectly. Very disappointed Five Guys. Not what I expected. The food was awesome and we had the best customer service ever! The woman helping us quickly noticed that we were from out of town and had never been at this restaurant so she went out of her way to explain everything about the menu and ordering process and suggested certain things and was just all around it awesome employee who did a great job at what she does. The food is great, the burgers are tasty and juicy, and the fries are fresh cut and well-seasoned. However, having been to half a dozen different 5 Guys in 3 states, there seems to be an operational difference here that is disappointing. At all other locations, my order of fries was overflowing in the cup, with a traditional "extra scoop" thrown in the bag. This location? My large order of fries was 2/3 full and there was no extra scoop in the bag. Do I sound greedy? Entitled? Maybe. But I based my order on past experiences and was sorely disappointed. We arrived in town after driving for 21 hours straight (from south Florida) because a family member was in her final hours of a battle with cancer. I had been awake for 34 hours and was starving, so I ordered 5 Guys from Uber Eats to be delivered to the hospital. As I submitted the order, I received a message stating 5 Guys could not fulfill the order due to them closing in 27 minutes. I called the store and spoke with the manager (Steph or Stephanie, I believe -- on Wednesday night September 25th 2019). I explained the situation and asked her if there was any way they could still fulfill our order and she said, "absolutely." She took my order over the phone and even allowed for extra time if I couldn't get there by closing time. In fact, she stated that she would have delivered the order, herself, if she didn't have to close. Honestly, I was floored. Years ago when I lived in Maryland I went to this place and thought it was way too greasy. Then I heard they jumped in their ratings above the west coast's fav quickie burger spot, In & Out. We decided to give it another go and I can see now why it is considered a notch above the other. The burgers are not greasy any longer and taste great. We always choose the little cheeseburger because the regular size is really not so regular. The fries are fresh cut and they have malt vinegar to douse them in, which I totally love. Plus, this is honestly the best place for shakes and any one of their three flavors of chocolate, vanilla or strawberry is equally tasty. It's not the healthiest obviously, so we limit our visits but if you have a hankering for the perfect quickie burger, this is the joint! read more

5 guys is the best "fast-food" burger you can get. This particular restaurant is lacking. I asked for a lettuce wrap with my burger and the wrap was a flimsy few pieces of lettuce around the bun. Really? So messy. At other 5 guys I've been to I get a large, thick, crunchy lettuce wrap. Also, I asked for my fries well-done and they were soggy. Will I come back? Yes. I love me some 5 Guys. Nothing special, but far from bad. I very much like the philosophy of not adding anything unless the costumer asks for it. It was nice to see this, especially given I can be a little picky with my burgers. The service at the counter was great, and the menu was explained perfectly (if you haven't been before, the menu needs some explaining, it's not your typical burger). The manager came over to talk to us periodically. He noticed my tigers hat and we started talking about the game, which we had just been driving home from. I was there recently on a Friday around 2pm. The place was busy. No friendly greeting when I placed my order or asking if I'd been there before. Since I was dining by myself, I was not impressed with the oversized "regular" fries--way too much for 1 person, and a higher price because of it. My cheeseburger, fries and drink cost over $11! And the quality didn't warrant that price. I do not intend to go again. Instead, I'll continue to go to Nisker's State Burger nearby--better quality at a lower price (even their beefalo burger is less $). read more

Excellent food and huge portions! Everything is deep fried in peanut oil, which is great for the taste, but not so good for those with peanut allergies. All the cooking is out where the customers can see everything, so I guess the employees are on their best behavior. The only downside was that it took awhile to get my food. Oh my God! I finally tried this chain after years of hearing about it, mostly positive stuff. I don't know if it's simply a matter of this particular store being in a food desert (Kalamazoo) or if this was typical of the whole company, but the food was literally disgusting. And let me tell you, burgers are like sex to me-until I tried this one, I thought they were all good. The meat had a disgusting kind of rotting-flesh flavor, the sandwich itself was just a glob of falling-apart grease and then there were the fries. Literally soft wet hunks of greasy potato. Couldn't even force this meal down, and it cost me $12+. I had In-And-Out on the West Coast for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was like $7 for a delicious well put-together sandwich, crisp flavorful fries. By the way, the employees here were really excellent and I'm pretty sure that if I were the type of person to complain, I'm quite sure that they would have tried to make it right. But I'm not. I need to add one thing. I have eaten and loved Schlocky's for years and never had a bad one until Kalamazoo. Maybe it's the city, I don't know. From the moment you walk in, you will be all the more hungry! This very clean location serves the freshest burgers and fries. The staff is always so friendly and make your dining experience all the more fun. The Coke freestyle machines are always great, because it offers so many options for beverages. Also, there are free peanuts while you wait, which wont be long. Even at their busiest times, service is very fast! If something about your order is incorrect or you want an extra condiment, you can always go back up and the staff is more than happy to make it right. My only advice is to be VERY hungry because the portions are large. There are vegetarian options. It is cheaper to get the single patties and in my opinion all you need as they are still very large. The fries are cut potatoes deep fried in peanut oil and taste like the fries you get at the fair, especially if you get the malt vinegar with them. Also, its nice that they advertise the farm the potatoes come from everyday. read more

A friend took me tonight. I had never been. I thought the food was pretty good. The burger was made to my specs and was juicy. The fries are crispy, double fried and they even had malt vinegar to dress them.....like fair fries. Delish! The music is a bit loud, but was to my taste. The young lday taking our order was friendly and double checked our burger order. I'd recommend getting the small fries to share with two people, there is PLENTY In the bag.
