The hamburgers here are awesome. It reminds me of how my father used to make them. They are cooked fresh right in front of you. Nothing stale or old put on them. The staff was great and even though there is a wait they kindly provide peanuts to keep you busy while waiting in line. Boy, what a big disappointment. I went into the place expecting the country's best burger and what I got was a dry, uninspired patty topped with UNmelted American cheese. The fries are supposed to be special here, what with sacks of potatoes stacked around the interior, but they've let something slip. The sandwiches are good and they do a nice kosher style grilled hot dog. The first time I went in sometime in early 2014, everything was tops, but in my last few visits the fries have been soggy and greasy, as if they're not heating their cooking oil enough. I even brought my last order back after a bite and they tried a second time, still not crisp. I love french fries cooked with peanut oil. So, the fries at Five Guys are delicious! The burger was very good. Made to order. Nice selection of toppings. The menu could be a bit clearer about the difference between "burger" and "little burger". My hubby thought "little burger" had something to do with a kid's meal when what it means is one patty instead of two. I'd eat here again. read more

Made a special outing with the kids to try 5 guys. Lunch for all of us broke the bank! No joke! $12 +/- each for burger, fries and drink. Really nothing to rave about. Burgers were average and fries were average. It wasn't disgusting, but certainly not up to the hype. Not sure why all the hoopla. read more

I went to Five Guys in Twin Falls, Idaho. Everyone said "This place is the best! You have to go!" So, I went. As soon as I walked through the door, I felt my cholesterol shoot up 100 points. Hamburger good, but nothing special, fries plentiful and good. No onion rings or shakes, had to go next door to Cold Stone for Shake afterward. What's with the peanuts? Music was blaring, and girl behind counter had to keep shouting out orders to the point where it was bordering obnoxious. The people were friendly and service was fast. Pretty average place here. Ambience and decor a knockoff of in n out. Burgers a tad dry, but thick. BBQ sauce is delicious and will not disappoint the taste buds. Crowded place and fairly clean. Get additions as they are all great. I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was supplemented with onions and BBQ sauce. Fries definitely gave this meal an edge, as the fries are not too stiff or too limp, but just right. read more

I've always been a fan of in-n-out, but the burger I had at five guys yesterday was fantastic!!

I never heard of Five Guys until they came to Santa Rosa. But from all the hype, I had to give them a shot. As with most new restaurants opening in Santa Rosa, I had to wait a few weeks for the lines to die down. If you never been to Five Guys, expect to see a spectacle when you enter. There are stacks for potato bags on the floors. They proudly display them because it's from local farmers. Then there's the sack of peanuts for customers, provided at no charge. It's nice. Except the patrons are pigs when it comes to cleaning after themselves. The tables can be absolutely covered in shells. The staff try to keep the tables clean but sometimes they can't get to each table every five minutes. It looks dirty. The menu is simple, you only get a few choices of burgers. BUT you can fully customize your burger with all (or none) of their topings. They don't charge extra, so go for it! Prices are higher than average. You do get sandwich bag of fries if you order it (it's alot). My chief complaint with Five Guys is the grease that accompany the food. The fried are soaked. The burger can't be held without getting your hands oily. And the wrap they use for the burgers....I don't know of its just me but it seems to transfer a metallic taste to the burger. I don't know how to explain it. I've been here for times, thinking maybe it's was just a fluke. But no, it's a consistent taste. I wonder if others notice it but just don't mind. Anyway, it's a decent burger, better than your fastfood joints, but not as good as a sit down restaurant. First time into Five Guys. Cool place, free peanuts etc. However, the place was not busy and the wait was way to long. Then I got my "hamburger" what a mess. It looked like some one ran over it with a car. It was really sloopy. It went right back and requested a new one that was prepared corretly...Well 10 minutes latter I received the same thing. I tried to choke it down which I did half way to get a stomach ache latter. I question there perparation techniques. I will never step back into Five Guys again. Greasy and meat cooked to a crisp is not my idea of a great hamburger. Better fries than In and Out but that is about it. Been to this location a few times, each worse than the last. The burgers are adequate: Decent sized burgers of factory farmed beef with an interesting selection of toppings. The fries are dry and tasteless - I wish they served milk shakes to wash down the fries. They throw an extra scoop of fries right into your bag, all over your food and I think this is supposed to be some sort of signature serving concept. I've had their burgers several times. Haven't had a hot dog there - I would try one if if they added chili to the toppings. The grilled cheese was a wet greasy mess. I like the online ordering but don't look to their web site to explain what the difference between the burgers is (A "little" burger is a single patty). I'm not that impressed with this place - I'm still waiting for Santa Rosa to attract some original quality burger restaurants. I would just as soon eat at a fast food chain like Burger King, get better fries and a milkshake, and save some money. read more

Disclaimer: I should have known better than to give them a second try. I first tried Five Guys when they were brand new a couple of years ago. I wrote off the incorrect order and horrid fries to the learning curve of new employees at a new restaurant. WRONG. Tonight I was driving home and I really wanted a burger and fries. I'm not a fan of In 'N' Out nor McDonald's nor Carl's Jr since they changed their buns. I have been without a favorite fast food burger for YEARS now, so I decided I'd give Five Guys another go. YUCK. The fries are garbage. They are nasty limp brown potatoes. The oil they fry them in must be antique to get that patina. I expect fries to be crispy and golden.I also expect that when I order a burger with BBQ sauce, mustard, onions, and jalapenos - just 4 toppings, nothing complicated- that all 4 toppings will be present. WRONG. There was nary a jalapeno in my order. So I added my own pickles when I got home. (Home is about 1 mile from the restaurant, so you can't blame the limp fries on the ride home.) **Sigh**So disappointed. And it was over $8.00 for a crappy nasty meal! Oh, and the place was busy! Well this is the dirties Five I have ever been to and that's from DC, Alabama, and all over the US. Quite an accomplishment and distinction to hang your hat on and if I did I would have left it there. The bathrooms were disgusting and my wife would have left had she gone before dinner. The place had six dirty tables and two clean and all the rest taken. They have really good burgers but they are missing flavor the one big component. When I order bacon I like to taste it and see it. Every time I order bacon they come up short with little small pieces of bacon and this burger had 3 little pieces so as a huge bacon freak I will not longer visit this establishment!! I like five guys breakfast in the DC airport because it was a bacon bacon bacon extravaganza but a miserable failure on the burgers. Corporate needs to fix the bacon or lack of bacon and this local five needs a lesson in cleaning and yes that includes the floors, bathrooms and service areas. this was my first time eating at a five guys. the peanuts to snack on in line was an interesting touch but i liked it! the manager talked to me while i was standing in line and he explained how the ordering works and how their food is prepared and after i finished eating he asked how i liked it, he was super nice and the rest of the staff i interacted with was as well. by the time i was finished eating the line was out the door! the food was delicious! it is a lot of food for not a lot of money and it is so good!! i will definitely be going back! :) read more
