Wowzers, can't believe this place is only rated 3 stars...seriously?! Tried it for the first time today and loved it - 5 STARS!! My first time trying Five Guys, although been hearing about their burgers for some time now. The burger I got was umm.. umm.. GOOD! I am a big fan of In N Out, but I would choose Five Guys over In N Out any day. I ordered a small bacon cheese burger (which is just 1 patty vs. 2), with jalapeno, grilled onions, raw onions (I sure do love my onions!), grilled mushrooms, hot sauce and lettuce and it was absolutely delicious. So.freakin.good. I know I'll be ordering the exact same thing next time. The burgers come wrapped in foil, so the cheese is all melted and nice, but surprisingly the bun does not get soggy. The fries were okay, but the peanuts were delish! Probably the best peanuts I've ever had - the secret is that they somehow get the actual peanuts (inside the shell) salted. Am such a fan that I'm thinking of going there for dinner tonight. Also, you can't beat the price - $5 for a good size burger with tons of topping. Score! read more

I've been a fan of this Burger place for a long time and I mean a fan of this franchise. They offer the same menu and setup as the other places I have visited. I like the fact there are complimentary peanuts while you wait and I'm glad that finally there is one close to my home. I ordered the Little Bacon Burger and Cajun fries. The Cajun fries were crispy and I appreciate the fact that all is made fresh, but my burger patty was in two pieces falling apart. I didn't appreciate that. Hey, stuff happens sometimes. She was helpful with suggesting toppings for our burgers and right on point suggested what my young boys might like. The food was hot cooked perfectly and swiftly made. I really like Five Guys. Their fries are insanely good as well as their super easy and straight forward ordering process. My problem with Five Guys however is what they are known for - their burgers. I tend to get the small cheeseburger or small burger it's plenty big and the toppings are always top notch, the burger itself however lacks seasoning and is usually cooked to death leaving it dry and chewy. I have dined at multiple Five Guys locations this one so far has the best service. It's fast and consistent. For now I'll continue to dine at Five Guys only if it's suggested by someone else. Not my go to place for a great burger especially when In N' Out is so close by. read more

Well it seems like there are many varying reviews for this place based upon burger size discrepancies. Fortunately, I knew AHEAD of time that I needed to order the smallest of the sizes and it would be what we in SOCAL consider a normal sized burger. Remember this chain is not cali based so we are not as familiar with their sizing differences out here. With that said; I still feel like customer service at 5 Guys should be trained to gently clarify and/or inform ALL customers of what they are actually ordering when they first come up to the counter. There is alot to read and it can be overwhelming to figure it all out when you are relatively new to this spot. Beyond that, I loved my burger and small cajun fries. It was a really delicious tasting burger - super fresh, quality beef and fixins all the way around. I was suprised by how quickly they completed my order on the spot....while it was "fast" it was above & beyond most other fast food joints burgers. I tried this place with some trepidation given the previous reviews. But I will say that the noise level, although high, did not bother me. The soda machine is cool because you can add different flavors to enhance your soda. The fries were way too salty - I think they made a mistake on my order because I told them no salt. The staff were friendly and helpful and seemed to enjoy working together as I noticed that during their breaks they ate together - that to me is a good sign of a well managed place. We stopped by after an appointment in the area! Greeted with a cheery staff our orders were taken....me a hotdog....hubby a burger. This was my first dog at a 5 guys and it was yummy! Really bummed by the experience here. My wife and I had burgers, fries, and shake for $32. The cashier was friendly enough but the guy handing out the food either had a bad day or just a bad attitude. I get friendlier service...everywhere. The burger itself was bland and the patty tasted like boiled meat. Fries were soggy. All of the food comes in a bag even when dining in so you have to pull the food out of a greasy bag. The table is a mess when you're done eating and makes it harder than it should be to clean upon leaving. In-n-out has nothing to worry about. read more

Ate here for the first time last weekend and it was pretty good! I got the little cheeseburger with regular Cajun fries to share with my boyfriend while he got the regular bacon burger and a hot dog. Little just means one patty while regular burgers come with two. I like that you can add however many toppings and sauces to your burger for free (ahem, The Counter, Stacked, etc). They definitely aren't 'gourmet' like the other burger places I mentioned, but they're pretty good. Definitely isn't comparable to In N Out or anything because they just aren't the same kind of burger place. They have free peanuts out that you can eat while waiting and the soda dispenser is pretty cool bc it has all kinds of flavored soda. I liked my burger, but the Cajun fries were meh. Weren't Cajun-y enough and weren't salty enough. The fries were also super greasy as the grease seeped through the bag (I don't have a problem with greasy, but in case you do). The people that work there are nice and fun. They actually say goodbye and have a nice night, which I find uncommon (and totally not expected) with burger joints. This is the best burger chain in existence, and The only one I've ever found with fresh jalepenos on the toppings list. There is absolutely no bad item on the menu. I freakin love the cajun fries and the size of the portions is magnificent. This is a great location on Hawthorne and has very nice and friendly staff. We came in on the grand opening day a couple weeks ago. It is literally across the street from where we live. My beef friend talked up this place for months and months so I had high hopes as far as it being an unbelievable burger place from the east coast. Line was long but went fast. Glad to see the same trend in other reviews. We ordered bacon cheeseburgers. Mine was a single and bf's was a double. So awesome that you can add bacon and avocado at no charge! They offer peanuts for free at the counter. Pretty neat soda dispenser too! Very high tech. Overall taste of the burgers were meh. Not good but not bad. Mine turned out not to have any bacon at all, and the cheese was diarrhea inducingly creamy. Daniel was a lot kinder about his experience though. I liked the fries a lot-even more so than InnOut. If I could order these fries at InnOut then I would be satisfied. The burgers just don't compare to InnOut, too. Gotta love west coast! read more

I live a block and a half away. When I don't want the usual in&out fix. I go to Five guys burgers. In my opinion. They satisfy my need for a meat and cheese burger with only grilled mushrooms, grilled peppers and grilled onions only burger. Truly a messy style burgers joint. Cajun fries are my favorites as well. Pricey? A little yes. But not that pricey for a fresh down to earth quick burger and fries. Another cool feature. The Freestyle Coke Machines. Still the only place in the southbay that has these cool and very refreshing drink dispenser. Store Cleanliness has never been an issue when I go. Bathrooms are clean as well. The customer service has been great for me as well. Now I'm not there all the time, probably at most once a month or once every other month. The place is always loud and they yell out orders. So if it's a warm day and you don't feel like hearing it. Take it outside to the patio and enjoy the cars whizzing by or just do what I do and order online and enjoy it at home. :) read more

I'm definitely a fan of this place! Their meals are affordable; however, their parking situation is kind of unfortunate - it can get very crowded and stressful. The line can get long in here during lunch/dinner hours and there aren't a whole lot of spots to dine-in. I would definitely recommend calling/ordering ahead of time, which allows you to skip the line and pick-up/take home :) I recommend trying their Cajun fries - yum! read more

The hamburgers here are wonderful. It has been a while since I have been here, so I completely forgot how big the burgers are. I should have gone with the little. I went with the regular cheese burger ($6.99), little fries ($2.79), and a drink ($2.29). It was a lot of food for me. I am down to the last few bites and feel like I am going to bust, but I do like wasting food so I am stuffing it (I will regret it later ). The cajun fries are a little spicy. I normally get the regular fries with the spice on the side. Ketchup helps bring down the spice. I love their soda machine. You can add flavors into your drink, for instance I get the Lime Coca-Cola. There are free refills on the drinks. I love the peanuts. Your not supposed to, but I always get some extra and put it in my bag. Lol read more

Adding Five Guys to the group of burger chain joints. I've tried the location near Ikea, and really liked it. So I was glad to have one come in more locally. But there is something lacking in this location The burgers are really good. I love Fatburger and In-n-Out, but since I'm a big guy, I need a big sized burger. Five Guys gives me that, but there is still some issues. Burger patty taste good and fresh, and so are the condiments. But there is a problem with the bun. I like a nice soft bun with my burger, but Five Guys bun is really not enough to contain a decent double burger. So they can fix that. The Bad: French Fries. The past couple times that I have visited Five Guys, I have gotten really lame soggy fries. Its like they boiled or steamed the french fries instead of frying them. I am really disappointed with them. As much as I love their burgers, I will go elsewhere if their french fries keep coming out all limp and greasy. What is the point of highlighting the special place where the potatoes are coming from, if you fry cooks don't know how to make a decent french fry. This is a good burger joint, but needs to improve. Five guys always greets you with a big hello. They grill up a huge tasty burger that makes ALL other burgers kneel and admit they are nothing compared to Five Guys. If you decide to dine in, you better bring your own wet towel for your table. They dont bus the tables and the floor is dirty, with food and peanuts crumbs all over the floor. Great, mouth-watering, I-think-I-might-order-another burgers and awesome fries. As a native Angeleno that is saying a lot... saying any more might get me run out of the state as a heretic. It's definitely more expensive than In-N-Out, the ordering process isn't obvious and, quite frankly, they need to make some concessions to being on the West coast (serving everything to-go, outside eating area with no way to hear your order being called). Having been to a few of their outlets, I can say that I'm a fan. The burgers have a great, beefy taste with just the right amount of grillness to them. And the peanut oil-cooked fries are the bomb. Seriously, they are the only fries that are still good cold (but better hot). Granted, Fatburger is stiff competition if just for the fat fries and the fact that I can get a large single patty burger, as opposed to the Five Guys double stack that is sometimes too big to fit in your mouth (when I've add grilled onions and grilled mushrooms). I have eaten at this location several times. The food is good, and the staff is pleasant. I am writing this review for two reasons. First, they often get my order wrong. The receipt is always correct, but when the food comes it's not. It then takes almost twice as long to correct the order as it did the first time it was prepared. Second, the ladies restroom smells hideous. It smells like a cross between a stinky cat box and an outhouse. Management really should do something about the stench. I suspect the smell is coming from the floor drain, but I'm not an expert. If the stench can't be corrected, then perhaps place a sign acknowledging that it exists and why - otherwise customers are going to assume it stinks because it isn't cleaned properly. read more
